‘Anti-Catholic’ Literature Sent by Dems in Minn. Campaign

Blogger Matthew Archbold of the National Catholic Register is calling it “the most anti-Catholic political ad you’ll ever see.”
The ad, a mailer, features what appears to be a Catholic priest on the front wearing a button saying “Ignore the Poor.” The mailer claims to be from the Minnestoa DFL Party, which is Minnesota‘s version of the state’s Democratic Party.
The literature, which was supposed to attack state-race Republican candidate and Christian minister Dan Hall by accusing him of ignoring the poor by opposing Obamacare, seems to have upset more than helped.
Archbold says the ad has nothing to do with the poor, and more to do with the Dem’s anger over other issues:
What this is about is the fact that the Church stands strong against abortion and gay marriage. And that makes some very angry.
Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey has a similar take but with more detail:
A few weeks ago, the Catholic bishop issued DVDs with the Catholic Church’s arguments on same-sex marriage, which the DFL and its supporters decried as interference in the election. This looks suspiciously like payback.
Morrissey goes on to make a broader point abut backlash against those who oppose the liberal version of social justice:
Beyond that, though, this demonstrates a long-standing argument from Democrats on social justice and helping the poor. They argue that the only way to do that is through government programs that redistribute wealth, and that anyone opposed to such programs — or even the size and scope of such programs — hate the poor and downtrodden.

It’s because we have been through an incredibly difficult time as a nation, and many are still hurting.
But our opponents in this election are some of the very people who got us into this mess — some of the very people who stood on the sidelines while we worked to clean it up. Now they are promising to pursue the exact same agenda that led us into this crisis.
It’s an agenda that was written by and for the special interests that have fought this movement at every turn. Worse, these groups that stand to profit from the Republican agenda are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to influence this election — flooding the airwaves with misleading ads to attack our best allies.
It’s up to each of us to raise our voices to beat them back.
So if you care about the critical reforms we made to a broken health care system, I need your voice.
If you care about fighting for middle class families, and building a country where opportunity is shared by everyone — I need your voice.
If you care about climate change — and a future where clean-energy technology is built right here in America — I need your voice.
If you share a vision of America that says I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper — I need your voice.
I did not run for this office for the sake of winning an election. And you did not join me in this fight two years ago to quit now.

First, the body of Christ needs to take care of their own. That was what pastors were appointed for, to go about to homes of believers to make sure nobody was needy or hungry etc. The way man has distorted today the office of a pastor is way off the mark. They have put them up in front as so called “leaders” and running a so called church. That was not so in the day of the apostles. They never received “tithes” as wages either. The tithe was for the Levitical priesthood in the old covenant and was food, and food to be eaten. That was why when he sent his disiples out he told them, “When you go into a home and they receive you, let your peace remain upon that house. Heal all who are sick in the home and eat and drink what is set before you for the laborer is worthy of his hire”. That was their payment, food and drink and a place to stay. Anythng more is an added blessing.

Most religions, when you boil it all down, ask (not require) that People are kind and courteous and charitable to each other. To do good for the sake of doing good and not ask for a reward.
The government is NOT above the law of Nature’s God and to say that it is, is blasphemy.

I don’t care about the poor. Poor people are poor because they are stupid, end of story. Maybe someone can find some story about a guy down on his luck but i don’t consider luck a factor in life. Im fed up with the right for the most part taking a good direction in the way of political philosophy yet still unable to give up the worship of need.
The church was little more then communist government back in the day and at the heart of most of them they still are. Why should i consider help for the poor my moral climax in life? I don’t, so the constant bickering about who helps the most incompetent in society is irrelevant to me. be it the communist or the compassionate conservative. the good of others is not my intent in life.
It is a fact, a proven F-in fact that the good of “others” that is those who choose to make poor choices and blame those who didn’t, is maximized with NO government at all and NO charity to boot!
Let there be no misunderstanding about me. I hate poor people. I hate the needy. I hate all those who plead in public from relief from there need. This is the big difference between me and the rest of you pumped up judeo conservatives. I do not warship death, or look upon the needy as if it could be my lord and savior. I see it for what it is. The lack of ability and the dead end of need.
When hard times do come who would you like to be around? the men of production and trade, or the men of need and charity? Its up to you.

I have to disagree with you that I would rather have someone that remembered me for being compassionate and helping, so that if my day came and I was in need, they would help. Depending on Business or “production and trade” in your own words only works if you have something to offer to “trade” or “make” which takes capital, which poor people wouldn’t have, since they are POOR. Also production and trade also need to have the ability to hire, but now production and trade are being taxed to death! I hope sometime soon you find your soul and your heart for humanity. When you die your pockets will be empty and you will look for someone’s help to excuse you for your sinful greed and Jesus will be there. I hope you don’t hear the words ” Away from me evildoer, I never knew you”.
