Anti-Defamation League Sponsors Israel Trip for Rick Sanchez…Former CNN Anchor Who Was Fired for Anti-Semitic Remarks

Remember Rick Sanchez?
He was the hotheaded television ancor who lost his job at CNN for comments he made last year that Daily Show Host Jon Stewart was a bigot, and that Jewish people like Stewart “run” all the news networks.
One year later, Sanchez was one of 17 Latino journalists in Israel last week on a trip sponsored by The Anti-Defamation League, one of the country’s most well known advocacy groups to fight anti-Semitism. The Jerusalem Post reports that the trip was funded by the ADL as a way to reach out to the growing population of Latin Americans and US Hispanic communities, a group that the ADL perceives to have a less favorable view of Israel and a higher level of anti-Semitic views when compared to the population at large.
Sanchez apologized for his anti-Semitic remarks, once again, to the Jerusalem Post Friday. The 53-year-old Cuban-born journalist insisted he wasn’t trying to imply anything about Jewish influence, “but the liberal, Northeast elite’s dominance in the media.”
The editorial writer in the Jerusalem Post Friday asked if Sanchez’s trip to Israel culminating “a number of months of self-imposed anti- Semitism rehab under the auspices of ADL” was necessary?
“It seems much more likely that instead of holding the kind of insidious, villainous anti-Jewish prejudices that he was accused of,” wrote Jeremy Sharon. “Sanchez is simply extremely prone to putting his foot in his mouth.”
One year later, do you think Sanchez’s explanation for his remarks and apology is genuine? Do you think it was appropriate for the ADL to sponsor his trip?

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:32pmTime will say if it was a good idea. I believe some of the anti Israel bias respond more to the ignorance and irresponsibility of each journalist seeking approval in the context of leftist editorials than an intentional distortion. Maybe this was the Sanchez case with an uneducated man inside a Progressive and anti Israel organization.

Posted on November 26, 2011 at 4:57pmForeign National Illegal Aliens have found that OUR politicians do not allow the “Rule of Law” to be enforced. Now they bring all of their 3rd world baggage and pride of their country. The do not intend to melt in or be Americans they just want the citizenship to promote THEIR COUNTRY AND TRADITIONS and that goes for the JEW as well.
The parents of Cuban born Sanchez took him to another country that had better quotas to enter AMERICA and took advantage of us in that way. His family is ILLEGAL ALIENS and has unconstitutional citizenship thanks to OUR idiot politicians and their mass immigration to overthrow American citizens in the effort to force multiculturalism on us unconstitutionally.
I faxed and emailed CNN constantly over his racial and hate of Americans.
Jews do have anymore than any foreign national in the United States. They have always wanted to control America and have spit on Protestant Christians longer than I am willing to put up with. To hell with ADL this has been my country since 1609.
If you don’t have about 10 generations in America I don’t have much use for you.
Many of our biggest problems have come from the Russian Jew such as Steve Lerner and OCCUPY. One of hundreds.

It is not Americas devine mission to let the Jew take over America. The Judeo-Christian logo began in about 1947 which is when the politicians (UN) blindfolded us into their care. Israel is GODS problem and we have helped them more than anyone. It is not OUR mission, they should have some loyalty to America and its Protestant Christians who have provided them a place in the sun.
Scripture says they will hardend against GOD until toward the end. We cannot undo what GOD has done to them until he has fullfilled other promises. They were scattered from Israel because of thier disobedience. I will protect them but America is not theirs it is mine

Posted on November 27, 2011 at 1:41pm@Noroomforsocialismhere, I realize more than likely you probably are a socialist yourself purposely trying to paint Conservatives as racist, ignorant nazis. Fidel Castro and his cronies did the same thing in Cuba, as Lenin said “repeat a lie often enough it becomes truth”. But let myself, a Cuban-American shoot down your ignorant rantings with cold hard facts. No Cuban in the United States is an illegal alien, whether you like it or not…and I do realize most liberals would love to throw out the Cuban-Americans who are overwhelmingly Conservative and vote Republican, in fact we gladly gave you 8 years of “W”. As Ann Coutler said regarding Elian Gonzalez, “the only immigrant liberals wanted to deport”. Cuban Americans are political exiles given amnesty. The laws were changed during the Clinton Administration with the so-called “wet foot/dry foot” policy where a Cuban caught at sea was deported but given amnesty if making it to shore. Another thing regarding your third world comments, Cuba pre-Castro had a standard of living 3rd after the U.S. and Canada. The Cuban Peso pre-Castro was equal to the U.S. dollar. Since you‘re so against socialism you might want to check out Humberto Fontova’s “Exposing the Real Che Guevara”. Rick Sanchez is not typical of the majority of Cuban-Americans.

Posted on November 26, 2011 at 11:14amEveryone has the right to make a mistake and everyone has the chance to apologize for their bad judgment. He has apologized, so I think people should let it go. If he had a long history of this sort of commentary, then I could understand people being cynical about his mea culpa. But as far as I know, this was his first flirtation with Anti-Semitic babble and hopefully he is sincerely repentant about this particular episode. May he learn from this painful lesson in civil discourse.

Posted on November 26, 2011 at 10:50amSachez was always making offensive remarks, so his firing was probably over something entirely different. His bigoted comment was probably the last straw. To his credit, he admitted he was wrong almost immediately after he was fired. And yet … he’s still putting down American Jews, so he obviously didn’t learn anything.
Sanchez … you live in America, so no one’s stopping you from starting your own network. Oh silly me … you‘re a liberal and would prefer to whine that it’s not handed to you on a silver platter.

Posted on November 27, 2011 at 1:19pm@Miami, if you followed WSVN through the years, they’re a FOX affiliate…when the FOX News Channel was interviewing for on-air talent they interviewed at Channel 7 and other FOX affiliates around the country. Sanchez interviewed with FOX News back then I think it was around 1995 or so, he lost out to Shepherd Smith and Bill Hemmer who were then anchors at WSVN and fresh out of college. Sanchez since has had it out for FOX News.

Posted on November 26, 2011 at 4:25amI remember reading the transcript of the words Sanchez spoke that got him into trouble. He used the term “bigot” in describing some people and everybody took it to mean racist. That was bullcrap.
Report Post »The context he used the term was correct.
I don’t Sanchez from Adam, but his comments were not what they were construed to be.
This incident was exactly like when Limbaugh made his comments about the media propping up that quarterback on the Eagles because they wanted to see a black quarterback do well in the NFL. Everybody raise hell as if he made racist comments about McNab when he was talking about the media hype.
Sanchez clearly stated that Jon Stewart was “prejudiced against anybody who didn’t agree with his point of view, which is very much a white, liberal, establishment point of view”. Is that not the truth? We call out Stewart all the time for prejudicial remarks he makes about the right!
That is the definition of a bigot: “a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.”
If Sanchez was truly fired for the comments on that interview, that was wrong. Listen for yourself to the interview, and try to remember that bigot does not mean racist.
I’m sorry, but this gets me fired up. There may be plenty to criticize this guy for, but that radio interview is not it.

Posted on November 26, 2011 at 8:22amYeah, but it was still funny to watch one self centered liberal attacking another self centered liberal through the media. The outcome did not bother me, and at least Stewart can be humorous….occasionally. Oh yeah, read the definition of bigotry. You will find racism in the list of descriptions. All that Sanchez will get out of this trip is the knowledge to watch his language more and to try not to slip up. That is if he doesn’t kill himself or somebody else in a DUI related traffic accident before hand.

Posted on November 27, 2011 at 12:27amIt’s true according to Wikipedia:
On December 10, 1990, Sanchez was in a neighborhood in the vicinity of Joe Robbie Stadium, driving home from a Dolphins football game when he struck Jeffrey Smuzinick, a pedestrian. Smuzinick, who had been drinking heavily, was returning to his Pembroke Pines home with friends. He suddenly decided they were driving in the wrong direction, jumped from the car and ran into the path of a 1991 silver Volvo, driven by Sanchez.[6] Smuzinick was paralyzed, and five years later on November 2, 1995, died in an assisted living facility at the age of 36. [7] A blood test by police determined that Sanchez’s blood alcohol level was .15, above the legal limit of .10. Sanchez was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and pleaded No Contest.[8] Sanchez was not charged with hitting Smuzinick

Posted on November 27, 2011 at 1:28pm@Ogui, brother…Sanchez was always left. I don’t know how old you are but do you remember Neil Rogers? Rogers was a lame shock jock in South FL for decades, extreme leftist, he would on-air read Michael Moore books over the airwaves, like Sanchez Rogers was a convicted criminal who was caught making himself feel good in an adult theater, the big one on Biscayne Blvd if it’s still there, I left South FL years ago I don’t know. Sanchez was friends with and frequently appeared on Rogers program, despite the fact Rogers used to viciously slander the Cuban American community, much like the trailer trash in South Dade were doing after the Elian thing who were Clinton supporters and led by 3x convicted pedophile James Cross of the Red Rooster Lounce in Cutler Ridge, it’s among those people that Rogers gets the bulk of his audience. Rogers has been replaced Jorge, another Cuban American leftist…there are Cuban exiles who are left wingers and even communist that left because Castro was too extreme for them, fortunately they’re the minority.
