Anti-Gay Protester Attempts to Burn Cereal Box in Protest — Flaming Failure Ensues

These days, it seems that no political position in America is immune from having its share of adherents who are willing to do embarrassing things in the service of their beliefs. That is certainly the case with Michael Leisner, a 65-year-old opponent of gay marriage who decided to protest against General Mills cereal (a company that openly supports gay marriage) by burning a box of one of their products. On a lawn. With flammable grass.

The original Youtube video has had its embedding function disabled, but can be found here. Photographic evidence of the results follows:

Anti Gay Protester Michael Leisner Burns Cereal Box On General Mills Lawn, Starting Fire

Anti Gay Protester Michael Leisner Burns Cereal Box On General Mills Lawn, Starting FireAnti Gay Protester Michael Leisner Burns Cereal Box On General Mills Lawn, Starting Fire Mr. Leisner, the apparent victim of this self-inflicted embarrassment, has earned the fascination of the internet thanks to this stunt. The Smoking Gun describes Mr. Leisner this way:

On Michael Leisner’s YouTube page (Live4Chr1st) he can be seen attacking Representative Barney Frank and Bill Maher, while noting that President Barack Obama has “bent forward to accommodate the sodomites of New York.” He also makes reference to “gay perverts,“ ”fierce faggots,“ and the ”depraved, debasing debauchery of gay activists.”

In an interview this afternoon, Leisner said that his son posted the video to YouTube and that he did not check to determine the legality of his blowtorch protest before arriving at General Mills a few days ago. He said that he believed the company’s lawn was “saturated” and that there was little chance of the fire spreading.

Leisner told TSG that he has previously taught the Bible on radio shows and has done “campus preaching with some notorious right wing Holy Ghost preacher types.” Asked if he thought law enforcement officials might want to speak with him about the General Mills protest, he replied, “I suppose it’s possible.”

Here is one of Mr. Leisner’s more…interesting artistic ventures, via Youtube:

I doubt General Mills would actually care, the cereal had already been bought and sold, and they’ve gotten their money out of it. Not much of a protest.

I could have told him the box would not burn. It seems that pressed cardboard and most paper, except newsprint, has stuff in it to suppress burning. (Our nanny state taking care of us!) Yes, you can burn the stuff in a roaring fire, but you can start a fire with it(maybe if you shred it). I know because I like to grill over wood fires started with natural material, usually newsprint.

GOODSTUFF — Everyone can see through the Orwellian doublespeak. Everyone know what “pro traditional marriage” means. It means you hate gays. You can delude yourself into thinking everyone is buying that particular lie, but the fact is, everyone know what you mean. You can’t be “pro” something by being “anti” something else.

If you really wanted to support traditional marriage, you wouldn’t spend your time doing your damnedest worrying about what homosexuals are doing. If you really wanted to support traditional marriage, you’d instead be helping couples get married and stay married.

Hey Bruce, get the facts and know your history. Marriage has always been in the church or a holy officiated event. Marriage was delved into by the goverment just to get in on the cash. And since you can state fiction as fact, the rest of can also. All gays are anti religious. so why in the world would they want to desecrate their union in a faux religious event.Hmmmm

Gay activists are like children playing “married”. Most all little girls pretend playing “house”,bringing boys into the fantasy as the husband.. But most grew up and matured in the process. Some still want to play “house” in a pitiful attempt to return to childhood. If there is not a stability for the child to emulate then compensation is made by one or the other parent being emulated. The child learns to play house without one or the other gender present sometimes. And without the gender opposite, the child compensates by having two of one gender as the guiding principle for future life.

No, marriage was oringally a commercial transaction between a father and another, daughter traded for livestock, etc. Even the bible considers rape a form of engagement, the rapist just has to pay the father a few schekles. Of course in a modern, secular republic the bigotries of any one religion has no place in denying basic civil rights to any group.

I always laugh when I see God haters attempt to teach us what the Bible says. The verse the Bible haters like to cite in no way encourages rape. Rape is condemned in the Bible. The verses I‘m sure you think you’re citing (Deuteronomy 22:28-29) refer to consensual sex which is made clear in the scriptural context. But as so often happens Bible haters pick out one verse or two, totally misrepresent what it says, and declare it to be some fabulous flaw in the thinking of God. Ha! I suggest you actually study the Bible if you want to preach from it.

The Bible condemns all sex outside of marriage including rape. The very chapter you refer to (and I‘ll bet you don’t even know the chapter) says that any man who forces a woman to have sex will be stoned to death. It‘s only when the woman doesn’t object that they become married. In other words, no means no. Sound familiar? The difference is yes means yes forever. Learn before you preach. The Bible is clear that if a woman cries for help the man will be killed and the woman considered innocent. How do you get that equals condoning rape?

RUMRUNNER — you may want to check on your facts. Marriage existed long before Christianity came on the scene. In fact, the church did not officially take a role in marriage until the 16th century (http://www.exploregenealogy.co.uk/FindingEarlyMarriageRecords.html); before hand all that was needed was for a couple to declare themselves married. There was no involvement from the church or state. Marriage has only been a “religious institution” for the past 500 years.

BRUCE P., ENCINOM, I love my wife, and my adult son with all of my heart. To you two, it means that I hate you?

      —–

No, no one thinks that you hate homosexuals because you love your wife and kids. That is ridiculous and complete and totally asinine (just as it is asinine to assume that I am homosexual). That is a complete twisting of what I said. Of course, I understand why you found it necessary to do so; it is easier to attack a straw-man than it is to defend this man’s beliefs or the lie that attacking homosexuals is a defense of “traditional marriage.”

You do not show your love for your wife by attacking other people who have no affect on your life whatsoever, correct? No, you show your love for your wife by loving your wife. How does this man burning a box of cereal in protest of homosexuals rights defend what you have with your wife? How does it protect his own marriage? It doesn’t. Attacking homosexuals is not a defense of “traditional marriage.” It does not help a single straight couple become married or stay married. It does not help a single straight couple weather the storm of life and overcome all that would seek to tear their marriage asunder.

Calling attacks on homosexuals a “defense of traditional marriage” is nothing buy Orwellian double-speak meant to disguise their true feelings, because it sounds a lot more pleasant than being what he truly is, “anti-homosexual.”

Parse as you will, but too many posters tend to reveal they just wanna stick their middle finger up at the left‘s and atheists’ favorite whipping boy; Those damn, dirty Christians.
I guess the opinion of the Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, et al., just don’t matter. Oh, and that of all the major secular states, also. Go figure. Well, at least that has been clarified.
