Anti-Gay Slur May Have Come From Office of GA Sen. Chambliss

A threatening comment made on the gay rights blog Joe.My.God yesterday appears to have originated from the home office of Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss (R), prompting the Senator’s office to launch an internal investigation.
After the Senate voted not to allow a defense spending bill with an attached “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” amendment to proceed, a person who identified himself as “Jimmy” left the comment, “All Faggots must die.”
Ever the sleuth, blog author Joe Jervis traced the IP address and posted it on his blog asking for reader help. After some digging, one reader found that it belonged to the “United States Senate” in Georgia. The neighborhood of the IP address contains home offices of both Sen. Chambliss and fellow Republican Senator Johnny Isakson,
Isakson quickly told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that the message did not originate with his office. Chambliss on the other hand issued a different statement:
We have seen the allegations and are moving quickly to understand the facts. This office has not and will not tolerate any activity of the sort alleged. … Once we have ascertained whether these claims are true, we will take the appropriate steps.

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 8:58amThis is a story worth telling? I for one am a vet. Knowing a guy is gay makes takes my eye of my job and puts me on the defense of those I serve with. Not knowing has no effect. Bottom line, the real story is whether the military can absorb the social disturbance. We don’t hate gay people, we just want our damn privacy. Don’t tell me I need to grow up. Don’t tel me I am a hater. I just don’t find it fair that I am forced to live wondering if the guy next to me is checking me out.
I don’t agree with being gay, but I would rather not know and just move on than have it out in the open where I worry about showing my glory to someone who may like it.

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 9:14amI keep hearing the argument from gays that their soldier friends say that if they were in a foxhole, they wouldn’t care whether their fellow soldier was gay or not. As a vet, you may be able to tell me, how much of their time is actually spent in a foxhole?
PS. Thanks for your service. I hate the way Obama treats the military!

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 2:11amIs it better to force people to be tolerant or to force people to lie about who they are? Even if it’s not supposed to be asked, a gay service member must still live the lie which is worse than lying through speech.

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 8:41amAnother nice distraction. Wondering what the other hand is doing. Before you go there, I disagree with the sentiment of the comment completely. I do however wish the homosexuals would grow up and quit whining like little girls, and then realize we the majority of Americans really don’t care what you do in your personal lives.
In fact allow me to be frank and concise. Just shut-up and go about your lives, and quit trying to win a losing argument on your part. Face it: homosexuals will never convince dyed in the wool heterosexuals that thier lifestyle( homosexual lifestyle) is the way to swing so to speak and vice-versa.
Do what you want. Just like you don’t want me behind your closed door, I don’t want you behind mine either.

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 8:39amWell no, the right-wing has been using hate-mongering to attack blacks, Muslims, (supposed) socialists, and (supposed) communists recently. Also Glenn Beck and co. has strongly aligned himself with anti-gay figureheads. And the “gay issue” was a major one injected by right-wingers in past elections.
So this comment should NOT be surprising. Conspiracy theories that the comments are a plant are unreasonable. And well, this came from Georgia…

I cants stand homosexual behavior becuase its wrong. It is a CHOICE they have made and there is NOTHING genetic about it. They choose to be gay and they have yet to find one shread of evidence from science that proves otherwise.
Let them serve openly in a combat zone and you may end up with them dead. Its wrong, but thats reality.

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 9:20amPersonally I don’t agree with you, From all the studies I’ve read it looks to be a combination of hormonal and enviromental factors, both of which effect a person before they have an ability to “choose” anything. Just as I find the female form appealing even on a subconcious level, so too do gay men find the male form appealing on a subconcious level, that doesn’t seem like a choice issue.

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 10:04ammoriarty70, I agree with you up to a point. However, studies have shown that a large percentage of homosexual men report to have been sexually abused by men as children. How many of these homosexuals would be heterosexual today if not for this trauma?
Report Post »moriarty70
Posted on September 22, 2010 at 11:27amFor something like that we’d need to look at the number of heterosexual men that were abused by men as children. Although you may have to factor in the predisposition of those who are homosexual being curious about a man’s body, just like there were certain teachers I probably wouldn’t have said no to even before puberty. That aside, I have a feeling the numbers would be comperable to disprove this.

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 9:51amI still believe that the military should be in charge of their policies. The military knows best what will work and what will not work for themselves. Most people (in and out of the government) have no idea what military life & combat is all about. When it comes to the defense of a nation….it isn’t about gay/lesbian rights….it is about what will effect the nation as a whole. Take your ‘fight’ for rights (no matter what the ‘rights’ subject is) to the ballot box. Just my thoughts.
