‘Anti-Israel’ Ad Campaign Causes Outrage in NYC

Thousands of residents living in and around New York City count on Metro North train lines to carry them to and from their jobs. Considering the essential nature of the travel system and the many eyes that view the ads that are present at its stations, it’s no wonder that the Israel vs. Palestine posters are attracting so much attention.

The controversial new ads depict the never-ending drama in the Middle East, as they show Palestinian land allegedly decreasing in size over the past 60+ years. And as the Palestinian landmass shrinks, the ad portrays Israel monumentally growing in size.

The posters were placed by the Committee for Peace in Israel and Palestine, a group that claims to be “dedicated to organizing activities and educational events that advance the cause of peace and justice for both Palestinians and Israelis.” The chairman of the organization, Henry Clifford, spent $25,000 of his own money to have the ads placed on 50 train stations in the Metro North system.

The Anti-Defamation League says that the ads are, “deliberately misleading, biased and fundamentally anti-Israel.” CBS New York also captured some of the reaction from Dovid Efune, the editor of “The Algemeiner,” a Jewish newspaper.

“I think the ad is very offensive, it’s certainly offensive to Jews,” Efune said. “It paints Jews as aggressors, as imperialists, as people that are stealing or taking land from others.”

But, Clifford countered that he merely wants to educate people by showing them what has happened with the map over time.

“The Palestinian people have lost most of their homeland and the map shows exactly what is happened to them,” he said.

While there are calls to remove the ads, there’s no indication that the Metro North will comply, seeing as they don‘t violate the travel system’s advertising rules.

      “as they show Palestinian land allegedly decreasing in size over the past 60+ years” While I know there is little chance that reports that are produced and selected based on promotion of an obvious ideology would actually be concerned with seeking the truth. If possible from the author or the group here to actually comment on a very simple question. Are the representations of land exchanges on the map accurate or not. That question is neither pro nor anti Israel. And neither is the real answer.

      I have never voted anything but Republican..But you just remember..when people take up arms here to fight against the UN and the Communists..it will be the same thing as the Palestinians taking up arms to fight for their land..       Why The Blaze categorize under the faith classification? Clearly this is a political problem, and the UN is where Arabs countries make new versions of this hoax to lie to the world hidding that “ palestine”, (the first 1946 map in the picture were much, much bigger, in fact the complete region of the Ancient Palestine, home of the Ancient Israelites Kingdom. From XVI century, during and after WWI, all the region was part of Ottoman Empire, (because it lost the war)and all those new countries that were created then to dismember the Empire, dividing it just there, are what today we called Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan, Irak, Lebannon, Israel, etc, etc, did not exist at that time!!! including the new countries and the ancient name of Israelities home.       It’s always been the opposite – people turn their backs on God (it only took a moment of poor choice for Adam and Eve, and upon being being subtly deceived, to bring death into the world).

      If people didn’t turn their backs on Him in the first place, the world wouldn’t be in a such a messed up state of affairs. It‘s not like He didn’t NOT warn us! (in other words: He DID provide ways and guidelines on how to live, and warnings on what has already happened, what is happening (even right before your eyes in this lifetime/generation), and what will happen in the future).

      Fear not. It’s all happening. Just as He said it would.

      At least it the maps show Israel. Look at muslim maps of the area, and you will NOT see Israel shown at all. No problem though. GOD promised the land to them so the muslims/Arabs can GO FISH.     Funny how the Owner of the Poster fails to demonstrate that it was repeat attacks by Islam onto the Jewish State that changes this map.
    How many times has Israel attacked its neighboring States just to wipe them out? None….
    How many attacks from the Golan does it take before the State of Israel can defend itself?
    The Owner is quick to draw “his” conclusions as to the situation but he miserably fails to show the true nature of the bordering Muslim States and the intention to wipe Israel off the face of the planet. There has been more than ample public statements from bordering country leaders who make that statement regularly and without batting an eye. That they desire wiping Israel out. To install a World Caliphate, to totally promote Islam, and the elimination of Israel including its people.

What if they make it illegal to do that in this country? WHy would they feel the need to propose a bill like that..If you google Jews against Zionism..you will see..       Even the guy from the Anti-Defamation League said it wasn’t a lie. He called it “misleading.” When a spokesperson says something is misleading, that means that he cannot honestly claim that it is inaccurate. Using the word misleading is an admission that all somebody is doing is choosing to emphasize the part of the truth that you don’t want to lead with, without letting you put it in your preferred context.

      Using facts to mislead someone is still being dishonest. For example, the second map was a proposed nonbinding partition plan put forth by the UN which the Palestinians (then known as Arabs) flatly rejected. Their rejected means that that map has no legal standing of any kind.

      Additionally, the part where it lists the number of “refugees” the UN recognizes, that number is over ten times larger than the actual number of people who fled Israel seeking refuge. The UN has stacked the numbers by expanding the definition of refugee to include millions of people who have never been driven off their land. They did this by creating a separate group to deal with the Palestinians which, among other things, has allowed refugee status to hereditary. By their new definition, I could be a refugee even though both my parents and two of my grandparents were born in the US.

      Facts and truth are two entirely different things.

      If a cause was truly worth supporting one wouldn’t need to be dishonest when arguing in support of it. The dishonesty of this campaign is evidence to the fact that it isn’t a worthy cause to criticize Israel. Do they have the right to argue this way? Yes. Do they have the right to outright lie if they wish? Yes. Do we have the right to not display their propaganda and to call them out on it? Absolutely. Do we have the right to be outraged? Of course. Do we have the right to call out bias when we see it? We sure as hell better.

      In this case I will agree; let the truth of their lies and distortions be shown to the world, so that the people can see the difference of propaganda and reality.       You’re right. It is freedom of speech. The ADL should counter with their own ads that actually tell the truth. If people are truly upset by the ads then they should find other ways to get to where they need to go until the ads are removed or until they have run their course. Standing for what you believe isn’t easy.

If you don’t believe that Israel is being occupied by Communists…google “the Blaze” Israeli bill would make it illegal to draw comparisons to Nazism.” Apparently..if you were to compare Israel to Nazism..you would be fined two thousand dollars..if the bill were to pass.

    i guess some of you only believe in freedom of speech if what is being spoken complies with your own ideology. The fact is, the maps are accurate. the issue is, it does not explain how they got to be that way. if you don’t like them, don’t look at them. they are in america. if you want to make a difference, than go to the land in those maps and do it there. there is no room for crazy here.

    Metro North a government regulated and a tax funded transportation system should not be allowed to accept PROPAGANDA/INCITEFUL ads. This ad is not about commericialism, there is nothing to buy. It is a message to mis-educate commuters. Inciting them to feel anger toward JEWS and sympathy toward the Muslim cause.

      yeah the people that have done what you said like this country and are loyal to it and don’t have dual citizenship they use to move here and than use our countries resources to help the country they moved from. so many dual citizen people in our goverment using our goverment resources to help their countries they moved from. You should see how many dual israel saudi chinese indian and many others in goverment and what there doing. i am not telling anyone to leave, i am telling them that if they care about another country more than America to not use American resources to fulfill their interests.

    So why doesn’t the ad explain the reason behind the loss of land. It gives the impression that
    Israel decided to seize the territory on a whim. The ad missed two other important facts. The Sinai should’ve been shown green under Israel control after the six day war then depicted as white
    in the 2010 image, after the peace treaty with Egypt. Where is the Yom Kippur war of 1973?
    This is an example of ignorant people with money, hoping other ignorant people will believe this BS.

    Their problems with the Palestinians are the Jews own fault. For good reason, God instructed them to utterly eradicate the Canaanites when the Jews took possession of the promised land. They disobeyed & still are paying the price.

    Still, the message of Genesis 12:3 is clear to us Gentiles: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

      Problem is… it’s not accurate for two reasons. In 1946 it was all British. There was no Israel or Palestine. Period. The other reason is a lie of omission. After 1967 Israel encompassed all of Sinai, the West bank, and Gaza. They have since surrendered all that territory. As late as the 90s the Israelis were in Gaza, but they ceded that as part of the peace plan (not that it did any good). The map does not show any of that. Israel has shrunk from what it was is the 60s and 70s (it had even pushed into Egypt in the Yom Kipur war) all as concessions to peace. Hardly the actions of an imperialist nation, but what has it gotten them? Maps like this that make it look like they have only ever grown and packs of lies about “4.7 Million Refugees” who are the descendants of the initial 500,000 displaced by the Arabs’ onslaught (and who are classified differently than any other refugee group in the world).

      So yeah, go on, say the map is accurate. Keep repeating the lies. We’ll just pretend they never made any concessions for peace and ignore that the Arabs never have (the only thing they’ve ever done is gotten their butts kicked over and over by the Jews). Brilliant.

      When Israel was given its land back Jordan was given for the “palestinians.” With all the Arab wasteland (and that is what Israel was at the time of the land “grant”) there should be no problem. The refugees are refugees because the sadder their state is the bigger political issue arabs can make of them. Why do arabs not take them in if they truly feel so bad for them? I can’t wait until God gives Israel their full portion marked out in tthe bible! Its actually 10 times bigger than what they control right now (and chances are they’ll get it because of another attack)! Sowing and reaping is never more clear than in the middle east. Everry arab invasion leads to arab armies running the wrong way!

    The story says that the ad is “mis-leading”… in what way? I would like to know. I am a supporter of Israel and believe they should have that land, but I also want to know the facts. A real report will provide information that enables the reader to fully understand the situation. This article basically says… Someon posted an ad… other object… No evidence on either side… News used to be helpful… Aparently that isn’t the case anymore.
