Anti Israel Protester Charged for Smashing Sen. Levin With Dutch Apple PieBIG RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — An anti-war protester who hit Michigan Sen. Carl Levin in the face with an apple pie has been charged with assault.

An indictment filed Thursday charges Ahlam Mohsen of Coldwater with two counts of assault against the Democrat while he was meeting with constituents in August in Big Rapids. Her friend Max Kantar of Big Rapids was also charged.

U.S. Attorney Don Davis in Grand Rapids says elected leaders should be able to listen to constituents without being attacked.

Messages seeking comment were left for Mohsen and Kantar, who are both 23. Mohsen’s father, Mohamed Mohsen, said she’s unaware of the indictment.

Levin spokeswoman Tara Andringa said he wasn’t immediately available for comment. At the time of the incident, the senator said his critics were hurting their cause.

      Israel would take care of the problem quickly is the rest of the world would step back. The jews always whipped the Arabs throughout history. I agree,let em go at it. Israel will probably have a much larger country than it has now. Although scripture says that the Jews will almost be over run but will be bailed out at the last moment by the return of the mesiah.

      First thing is whether we left the middle east all together or not the muslim zealots would still attempt to crush us or subvert us or convert us to become a trashy theocracy AND THEY WOULD STILL ATTACK US if we converted. If you aren’t the RIGHT KIND of muslim you are marked for death. Their’s is a religion of sycophants following a false profit that will lead the entire world to ruin if we do not take them to task. The Palestinians were left with no land when the royal family of JORDAN would not let them come back to Jordan after Israel whipped their asses DEFENDING THEMSELVES.       Perhaps if we would stay the hell out of Middle East problems, those idiot Muslim terrorists wouldn’t hate us so much. Why should I be forced to subsidize Israel? Why don’t we simply stay out of it and let them fight it out? WHERE in the Constitution does it say the government has the power to tax ME to protect a foreign nation? From what I’ve read, The United States has given the equivalent of $14,000 to EACH Israeli citizen for their ptotection over the years.

      While I can understand your unwillingness to pay for Israel’s protection I do feel the need to correct your other assertion. I do believe that if we pulled out of the Middle East that would not stop the animosity towards us, They will just find another excuse because they do not like our way of life and our beliefs. We also have stood in the way of those that would oppress others and are certainly the last bastion of freedom. Now that is not to say we are perfect but who is? I am not saying we should stay in the Middle east altho personally I believe that, A) Israel has the right to exist and the genocide resulting from us leaving them surrounded and undefended would be unconscionable. B) my own personal belief that since the Jewish people are God’s chosen people, the fact that they have survived and we are supporting them I believe is God’s way of protecting them (that is just an opinion of mine). Either way, those that attack us will continue to and no amount of backbending by us, unless we become an islamic theocracy, is gonna satisfy them. Those that intentionally hurt others, especially the most defensless of people, are doin it because those are the kind of people they are, no grievance justifies their actions.

      I feel some anti Israel sentiments on this thread. Do you think Muslims would leave us alone if we stopped supporting Israel? Israel has a right to live. I would hope they would stand with us if the shoe were on the other foot. Though this administration is about as Anti Israel as any other before it and Pro Muslim.

      @SUSEJ, It is important not to confuse faith and politics. Whether or not America has anything to do with Isreal is politics. Whether or not the Jews are the Chosen People is faith. The scriptures tell us that the Jews were the chosen people. Nowhere in the scriptures, old or new testaments, does it suggest that the Jews were ever un-chosen. Being chosen and being saved (accepting Christ) are two different things. As the chosen people, the Jews deserve the respect of the Christians, whether or not they have accepted Christ. By respecting the Jews, we Christians are respecting God’s choice.

      As for being hit in the face with a pie, I don’t care what your political leanings are, left or right, no one should have to endure the threat of ANY form of physical retaliation just because someone doesn’t agree with them, especially when one or both are elected officials. I don’t think we should take this lightly just because the victim was a Democrat. We wouldn’t be laughing if it happened to a Republican. This is just plain wrong.

      Our nation has done more for Muslims than most Muslim nations – we do not check what religion a country is when a national disaster happens such as the Indonesia tsunami. We also came to the aid of Muslims in Bosnia that were being systematically murdered. Yet for all the good we done, including freeing Kuwait, Muslim extremists attacked us on 9/11. At the time they gave the rationale that we had troops in Saudi Arabia, Israel later became a secondary reasoning. To believe if we would ‘just leave Israel alone’ than the Muslim extremists would ‘leave us alone’ is naïve at best although ignorant would probably be a better term. There is no ‘reasoning’ with terrorists. How can you reason when they would blow up mosques during prayers as easily as they would blow churches? How can you reason when they don’t care if there are Christians in the area of the explosion or Muslim school children? They may use the excuse of Israel but that is not the reason for the hatred of the US or for their violent acts – they hate us for who we are, for what our great nation has accomplished and for the power we wield in this world. Appeasement is only an option when you are dealing with rational people – terrorists are not rational people.

      I disagree witht he notion that isreal cannot defend itself without our help.

      Israel has nuclear weapons and would not hesitate to use them against a foreign army if they could not defeat their enemies with conventional tatics.
      I think that would be a good thing. . . .so in my opinion No more subsidies to any foreign country

      btw: Israel has stolen and sold countless dollars worth of American weapons technology and sold it to the Communists over the years. . . . not sure if that type of behavior is deserving of our respect and tax dollars.

      We support Israel not just because they are the “chosen people”, but because they stand as the lone democracy surrounded by nothing but theocracies bound and determined to kill them. We need democracy in the middle east, it‘s why we’re working so hard in Iraq to see that they have free elections. Our support for Israel should be unwavering. It is their land and they have the right to prtect it against threats foreign and domestic, and as their ally we should help them in certain ways.
