Posted on January 14, 2011 at 3:31amI knew what the phrase meant. I believe her when she says she didn’t, she probably just picked it up from a conservative columnist who used it to describe attacks on her. But, when people do use the phrase figuratively, it’s usually to denounce unfair persecution of somebody else, not of yourself.
The main reason this will hurt her, is that when you take four or five days to think of something smart to say, you should say something that’s actually smart, not something that you have to make excuses for the next day. Making a statement just about the tragedy, then a strong statement denouncing her attackers a couple days later, after the memorials are all over, that would have been smart. This makes her look self-righteous and self-centered.

“blaming the Jews for the black death or other ills of Europe was a blood libel”
No if you replace Jews with Republicans/Conservatives then you would know what she is saying is correct, because Democrats/Liberals/Socialists are all blaming Republicans/Conservatives for what happened in AZ. Now with that out of the way I think that Liberals and the like need to stop blaming one group of people for a tragedy in order to gain public notoriety that what they think is the correct way to do things or that Republican/Conservatives will be the downfall to this country which is not the truth. On the Tonight Show Bill Maher or however the idiots name is spelled blamed everyone under the sun and equating “loving of guns” to drug habits, then calling everyone crazy. His people voted for the War in Iraq, his people have been trying to incite riots all over the country. Both sides of the fence have used some sort of violent context in their political says in order to push their ideas. Freedom of speech is what makes this country great and when we lose that freedom we will have nothing left.

2. “Bood” is spelled “Blood”
3. I think you mean “persecution,“ not ”prosecution” — prosecution implies punishment for an actual crime.
4. European is typically capitalized in English
5. Noun/verb agreement, try it. You might find it improves your communication skills.
6. Palin referred to “blood libel” as a negative. Calling her out for it is tantamount to claiming that “Don’t put peanuts on my Kung Pao chicken“ actually means ”Add extra peanuts to my Kung Pao chicken.”

Posted on January 12, 2011 at 1:38pmOk lets set the dam record straight. How can you all (dumb ass lefties) think is means only JEWS. The context she was using the term was not to have the shooting be blamed on a “group” as it was originally used against the ALMOST ALWAYS JEWS-NOT 100% OF THE TIME HOWEVER. The following is from WIKIPEDIA
Blood libel (also blood accusation[1][2]) refers to a false accusation or claim[3][4][5] that religious minorities, almost always Jews[citation needed], murder children to use their blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays.[1][2][6] Historically, these claims have–alongside those of well poisoning and host desecration–been a major theme in European persecution of Jews.[4]
The libels typically allege that Jews require human blood for the baking of matzos for Passover. The accusations often assert that the blood of Christian children is especially coveted, and historically blood libel claims have often been made to account for otherwise unexplained deaths of children. In some cases, the alleged victim of human sacrifice has become venerated as a martyr, a holy figure around whom a martyr cult might arise. A few of these have been even canonized as saints.[citation needed]
In Jewish lore, blood libels were the impetus for the creation in the 16th century of the Golem of Prague by Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel. Many popes have either directly or indirectly condemned the blood accusation, and no pope has ever sanctioned it.[7] These libels have persisted among some segments of Christians to the present time
For anyone to really think she was being anti-Jew is looking for a reason to make up something that just is not there………………………….VICTORY OR DEATH

April 4, 2009 — Neo-Nazi Richard Poplawski shoots and kills three police officers in Pittsburgh. His friend Edward Perkovic tells reporters that Poplawski feared “the Obama gun ban that’s on its way“ and ”didn’t like our rights being infringed upon.“ Perkovic also commented that Poplawski carried out the shooting because ”if anyone tried to take his firearms, he was gonna’ stand by what his forefathers told him to do.”
May 31, 2009 — Scott P. Roeder shoots and kills Dr. George Tiller, an abortion provider, in the foyer of Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas. The FBI lists Roeder as a member of the Montana Freemen, a radical anti-government group.
June 10, 2009 — James W. von Brunn walks into the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. and shoots and kills a security guard. Von Brunn believed that Western civilization was going to be replaced with a “ONE WORLD ILLUMINATI GOVERNMENT” that would “confiscate private weapons” in order to accomplish its goals.
February 18, 2010 — Joseph Stack of Austin, Texas, flies a single-engine plane into an office building containing nearly 200 IRS employees, killing one and wounding 13. In a suicide note, Stack lays out his grievances with the federal tax agency, stating, “The law ‘requires’ a signature on the bottom of a tax filing; yet no one can say truthfully that they understand what they are signing; if that‘s not ’duress’ than what is. Posted on January 12, 2011 at 2:43pmGreat, if Sarah Palin sneezes will MSNBC cover it and call it offensive and violent? Sarah can’t put her shoes on without criticism just because she is a conservative. Bravo MSNBC for trying to piece together segments not based on news, but based on the conservatives who actually stand for something. Maybe one day journalism will return and MSNBC will have to actually go out and create a story based on FACTS and noteworthy news….pigs won’t fly anytime soon. And why should she have to apologize for posting cross-hairs on a map? Is supermarket Target going to have to change the bullseye on all their stores because Walmart might get offended and kill Target employees. This is exactly what stupid liberals think is relevant in today’s society. Liberals sure do elect some stupid people who are experts at knee jerking and less likely to use common sense.

I am getting so sick of the finger pointing game. To blame something like this on Sarah Palin is downright wrong and hateful. No one said one word about “tonight down the rhetoric” when Bush was called everything but the President of The United States. It is clear in this case, that the left is grabbing for anything that can make them look better in the publics’ eyes. Desperation is what this is, and it is sick people are willing to use this as a political positioning.

Report Post »Here is a short history lesson
“Blood libel” was coined and used during the holocaust due to propaganda by the Nazis and the German media to spread lies (events that couldn’t be backed by facts) to smear the Jewish community. Is has the word “blood” in the phrase because some of the stronger twisted claims were that Jews kidnapped and killed German kids to use their blood to perform ritual services hence the word blood
So…… it is very appropriate for Sarah Palin to use the phase since some do argue that she was responsible for the shooting
Funny how the spend lots of money for education still they seen to get nothing from it

Oh hey, look at this:
“Additionally, one of Adkisson’s former wives had been a member (in the 1990s) of the church where the attack occurred.[11]
Adkisson’s manifesto[12] also cited the inability to find a job, and that his food stamps were being cut.”
Uh oh.

Nazis are from the Left. The left always fights the left. But thanks for showing us this. :)

Which doesn’t indicate his politics left/right actually. Last check, lots of leftists are against one world “illuminati” government (in fact, they are who I normally hear this charge from).

I have been listening to their angle on the AZ shootings since shortly after it happens and have not been able to make it make sense even for a second. The more time passes, the less sense it will make I’m sure. That is the problem when a group of people operate without facts, logic, or reason; nothing they say or do makes sense.

Posted on January 12, 2011 at 6:42pmIn an exclusive statement, famed attorney and Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz defended Sarah Palin’s use of the term “blood libel” from multiple detractors. As the Media Matters/MSM/Democrat narrative on the Tucson tragedy unravels, they are getting a lot more desperate in their attacks on Palin. Fortunately, there are still plenty of honest liberals around:
“The term “blood libel” has taken on a broad metaphorical meaning in public discourse. Although its historical origins were in theologically based false accusations against the Jews and the Jewish People, its current usage is far broader. I myself have used it to describe false accusations against the State of Israel by the Goldstone Report. There is nothing improper and certainly nothing anti-Semitic in Sarah Palin using the term to characterize what she reasonably believes are false accusations that her words or images may have caused a mentally disturbed individual to kill and maim. The fact that two of the victims are Jewish is utterly irrelevant to the propriety of using this widely used term.” – Alan Dershowitz
