AP: Major U.S. Defense Shakeup Coming This Week

WASHINGTON (AP) — Administration sources say President Barack Obama plans this week to name CIA Director Leon Panetta to replace Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and Gen. David Petraeus, now running the war in Afghanistan, would take the CIA chief’s job.
The officials all spoke on condition of anonymity because the changes are not final.
The changes would probably take effect this summer. Gates has already said he will leave this year.
The officials say Obama is expected to also announce that Lt. Gen. John Allen would replace Petraeus as Afghanistan commander, and that diplomat Ryan Crocker will be the next U.S. ambassador in Afghanistan.
The changes are expected to be announced Thursday at the White House.

He will try and dismantle the military he has under his watch had the most leaks of any recent CIA director has every had. He obivously has not been good counsil to the pres because any body in the intell community knows this is a losing war and we need out you can only win a war if you kill your enemy. He should have been out there saying no to helping the released terrorist from gitmo we now are helpingt in that conflict way to go. Petraus is good man and military person I think he should go to the Defense post not Penneta.

Stop trying to get votes, let’s get the job done in the Middle East and then we can bring all our troops home. The other is, your commander is competent and you don’t want that.

And I think obozo is pulling Petraeus out of afganistan because Petraeus would find a way to win even with all the restraints obozo has put in place. Remember Petraeus had great success in iraq, he turned that place around when it was considered a lost cause in 2007.

Clearly if any man would be qualified for the Sec. of Defense job, it would be Patreus, so why make the shift at the CIA where he’s not particularly qualified or experienced? This decision making is almost like they WANT us to see the insanity of these proposed appointments. Panetta has been an abject failure as CIA chief – he should be REmoved, not simply MOVED, and certainly not moved to a position where he can tear apart the one area where no one in the world can hold a candle to America.

– In 1964, he joined the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. There he received the Army Commendation Medal, and was discharged in 1966 as a First Lieutenant.
So he has 2 years military experience. BTW, he did not attend a military college or enroll in ROTC etc.

My concern is this, if Iran attacks Isreal, and Isreal retaliates, Russia is likely to threaten or attack Isreal as well. Obama has already stated that we won’t use our nukes. What would our military do?
Do you think that everyone in the Pentagon would just ignore our closest ally in the middle east?
Would there be a division that would form on this, or has there already been one and there is a purge going on (as I have thought has been happening for some time now) to remove those who aren’t in “the progressive globalist loop”?
