AP: Romney Likely Has Florida Locked Down

Romney Likely to Win Florida PrimaryTAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Florida’s time has come.

The state hosts its pivotal primary Tuesday as Mitt Romney seeks to tighten his grip on the Republican presidential nomination.

Newt Gingrich reset the race by scoring an overwhelming victory in South Carolina. But in the 10 days since, the GOP contest has turned increasingly hostile. And the polls have swung decidedly in Romney’s direction.

The former Massachusetts governor enters the day as the heavy favorite in the winner-take-all primary, the final contest in a month of high-stakes elections in which Romney claimed one win and two second-place finishes so far. The path to the Republican nomination – and the right to face President Barack Obama this fall – shifts to a series of lower-profile contests in February.

The polls open at 7 a.m. across Florida, where Romney offered an increasingly optimistic tone while campaigning in recent days.

“With a turnout like this, I’m beginning to feel we might win tomorrow,” an upbeat Romney told a crowd of several hundred at a stop in Dunedin on Monday.

Gingrich acknowledged his momentum had been checked but promised not to back down.

“He can bury me for a very short amount of time with four or five or six times as much money,” Gingrich said in a television interview. “In the long run, the Republican Party is not going to nominate … a liberal Republican.”

Romney’s campaign canceled a Tuesday morning rally, but scheduled a night celebration at the Tampa Convention Center. Gingrich will make a series of public appearances – including visits to two polling stations and a stop at the Polk County headquarters – before gathering with supporters for a primary night party in Orlando. The last polls close at 8 p.m.

The other two candidates in the race will not be in Florida on Tuesday. Both Rick Santorum and Ron Paul have ceded Florida’s primary to Romney and Gingrich in favor of smaller, less expensive contests. They will spend the day campaigning across Colorado and Nevada.

Romney and his allies have poured more than $14 million into Florida television advertising primarily to attack Gingrich, who has struggled to compete with Romney’s fundraising ability, staffing and network of high-profile supporters. Gingrich and his allies spent roughly $3 million on Florida advertising.

“We are pitting people power versus money power,” Gingrich said Monday as he tried to rally his shrinking base of support.

GOP officials in Florida were anticipating a big turnout, more than 2 million voters, up from a record 1.9 million in the Republican primary in 2008. More than 605,000 Floridians had already voted as of Monday, either by visiting early voting stations or by mailing in absentee ballots, ahead of the total combined early vote in the GOP primary four years ago.

Of course the AP would promote that self fulfilling lie, they say it’s over, many voters from the other side don’t bother, and tons that wouldn’t have voted for Mitt do, because idiot Americans want to vote for the winner, no matter how bad the perceived winner is.

Sorry, America wants to vote for the person that will fix the economy. Economy is number one, even over who will win and people see Romney as the person to fix the economy and they are right. He has fixed almost every economy he has touched: Bain Capital, Olympics, Massachusetts and did it with conservative values. He is the Tea Party candidate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=iMPljKNzD3U

There is something to that. The “bandwagon effect” — the same effect gives Gingrich a boost over Santorum — even though Santorum is so much more electable than Gingrich.

Tell us…what does it feel like to become hoodwinked by the NWO?

Romney will not only allow insanity like the NDAA, the Patriot Act, and the molestations of the TSA, he will expand upon them.

Your kind never ceases to amaze me, a charlatan says a few nice words that completely flys in the face of their entire record, and you buy it hook line and sinker.

Here‘s Romney in his own words for Pete’s sake!

The NWO’s media hands you the links to the chain, and you folks gleefully go out to your garage and grap a hammer and anvil, and then willing place the chains of your own enslavement around your own necks.

Romney is a complete fraud who talks about the Constitution…as he spits on it.

A vote for anyone other than Ron Paul is a vote to willingly bend over for the TSA, any time and any place the NWO demands it of you.

Why does Paul say to let Iran have a nuclear weapon and we should not be interfering, when America is a target, as well as Israel.

For me, I love Ron Paul, EXCEPT for his foreign policy ideas – THEY ARE VERY EXTREME.

And why is it Paul can’t seem to get out of single digits in national polling? Is it because he can’t articulate his own message beyond college level appeal, or that he can’t get organized enough to make anything stick? … because both of those are reasons why not to want him for president.

Here’s how I see it (excuse the medical analogy): This country is severely injured and needs to go to the ER. As any good ER doc will tell you, your first priority is to stop the bleeding first, THEN you can work on taking care of whatever else needs to be done. Romney may not be the best choice long-term-wise, but for right now, we need someone with business savvy to stop the bleeding, THEN we’re in better shape for someone like Santorum to step in and fix the rest. With Obama, we’re not even going to make it to the ER.

Nobody WANTS to see Iran get nukes, but the fact of the matter is there is little we can do about it other than a full out invasion…ground troops and all. Combine that with the fact that we are BROKE and can’t afford another war, that leaves us with very few options.

Are you aware of the fact that when Saddam was building his nuke program, Ron Paul was pretty much the only one to vote for allowing Israel to bomb their nuke plant? Seems nobody in the media, nor the RINO’s want to talk about that fact.

Dr. Paul wants to allow Israel to run it’s own foreign policy, and to stop having progressives in DC dictate what they MUST do.

As for foreign aide, he wants to stop giving money to their enemies! What sense does it make to provide aide to Israel’s enemies?

Look at Pakistan who has nukes for example. Certainly they are not our friends and they knowingly were protecting Bin Laden while giving us the finger. Do you hear any talk about bombing them? You do know we give them foreign aide as well…right?

According to the Bible, when Armagedon comes, it claims Israel’s enemies weapons will fail to work, and nowhere does it claim that some foreign power will rescue them.

The right thing to do is to be friends with Israel while respecting their sovereignty, and Ron Paul is the only one willing to do that.

When virtually every news outlet and every so called conservative pundit lies about him, it’s not easy to get the truth out there.

Cry me a river, because it’s not your candidate. With the small percentage of people that actually do vote, most of them are educated and smart enough to take the time to vet the candidate. Especially in these early states, it’s what these people live for… later on in the nomination process, I could give your arguement more basis, but not yet. That’s why these early states are so important. Most people are like sheep being led to slaughter, especially on the dem side, but we have have many of them on the reb side too, they usually don’t show their faces until the later states. These candidates have all gone through the vetting process in these early states. The people have spoken… so far.

Stop drinking your own Kool-Aid… Romney didn’t invent negative campaigning, nor would the world be a better place without it. In fact, negative campaigning is a necessary part of the political process.

Remove negative campaigning and candidates simply wouldn’t be vetted enough before jumping into a national campaign – they wouldn’t be prepared to defend themselves.

Remove negative campaigning in the primary and the nominee gets blind-sided by the negative campaign that’s definitely coming in the general election.

Remove Romney and we’d probably have a Rick Perry candidacy right now because he had the next best money and organization.

Remove Romney and we’d have lost probably one of the best CEOs and organizers that the Republican party has had running for nomination in decades.

And remember, without negative campaigning, we’d never have heard about Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers, and Obama’s history with them – and that was the Clinton campaign would brought all that out in the primary.

This is far from being over. Here is an interview of a young lady in CA who beautifully articulates why Ron Paul has the youth vote. She is more knowledgeable than than the average GOP voter!!
These young people know the real issues and they can spot a fraud. They also know what is at stake for them and the future. They love the constitution, liberty and individual responsibility. My husband and I can have good, in depth conversations with our children and their friends (late 20‘s to early 40’s) than we can with people our own age. Anyway, this video is so refreshing…

p.s. this interview is from RT….and before anyone jumps all over me I want to clarify that I am posting this because obviously the msm won’t.

    Hello Everyone :)

You know America, we had been dreaming to have somebody who can restore this country to where our Founding Father started. We have now have that priviledge to vote for someone who can do it–it’s Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney believes on real America of principles and values where it was founded. My fellow Americans this is a call for a unified America–a patriotic dream of stronger nation and people. Our vote is the prerequisite for our better and stronger nation and for all the generation to come. Please, make your vote counts for the sake of your love for this country.

      You are joking…right?

Which Romney do you want us to support? The one from 4 years ago, or the one who says whatever it takes to fool the base?

When the RINO’s finally wake up to the fact that they had better start nominating candidates with principles that match the base of the party, then and only then can we begin to restore the Republic.

Flip flop Mittens is not the one to do it.

Agree with the posts. Looking for solution: where are the tea party activists from 2011? How do we get organized again nationally? Must regroup and reactivate. We let the opposition define us as “violent”, as “dumb”, as (fill in blank with negative). And no one countered those definitions. Rep West has done a good job countering it, and they are trying to eliminate his position. This will take more than one person. Strength in numbers. For example, why is noone countering the argument that “oil companies took huge profits”, with an argument that “green energy funding efforts have wasted tax money for NO output–only waste and abuse”? They enrich the powerful democrats. Or point out who benefits from nixing the Keystone XL? It is those who will profit (dems) from it not going thru. Where are the voices nationally to counter the lies? VOICES ARISE!!

Romney, Obama, what’s the REAL difference?

My crystal ball tell me that if anyone other than Ron Paul wins the nomination, it’s all over but the crying. :)

Seriously, us Paul supporters are going to go 3rd party if the establishment offers us another RINO, and no, I don’t think Paul is going to run 3rd party. We will either write him in, or vote for the Libertarian ticket.

By dissing us, the establishment has effectively written off somewhere around 10-15% of the Republican base, and we are by far the most politically active and determined.

Without us, the RINO’s are screwed, as it should be.

This election will be about principles, and by proving to the RINO’s that they will lose each and every time they offer us false choices, we will force them to quite moving to the progressive center.

Nobody in the media is concerned about his medicare fraud or the fact that his FEC filing leaves out 23 offshore tax haven bank accounts (soon to be FEC investigation) or that the only reason he gets his 15% tax break is that he still performs services for Bain. But in the debates he said he retired 10 years ago. The IRS will investigate this one.

I can actually respect that he did that. It’s obvious that his liberal state wanted it which is the big difference. It wasn‘t unconstitutional and the residents wanted it so what’s wrong with a state doing that. I wouldn‘t want it but it doesn’t compare to the federal government using power it doesn‘t have to force something on us that we don’t want. Big difference to me. I can respect that he listened to the people he governed. It would be different if his state wanted it but he refused to let them have it. That would be the same as obamacare being forced on us when we didn’t want it.

An entity is set up to make negative commercials on behalf of a certain candidate, back stabbing the other candidates and vice versa. Capitalism is being attacked because of the fact that a certain candidate is wealthy and blaming him for that same principle that we as hard working citizens hold dear, despising Obama’s socialistic and entitlement agenda. If capitalism is evil, then maybe we ought to accept a socialistic society under the current CIC. My answer to that is a big fat………………….NO!!!!!!!

      From TheRightScoop.com:
Romney on beating Obama: “If truth is our standard, we’ll win”
I almost lost my lunch when I heard Romney say “If truth is our standard, we’ll win” when it comes to beating Obama. Hannity asked him specifically if he would really go after Obama and if things in Obama’s past like Ayers and such would be fair game. His answer included the quote above and another quote: “I think anything truthful about a candidate is fair game”.

First, it sounds like he’s about to become another John McCain should he win. We’ve heard him say before that he won’t call Obama a socialist. And now he’s hiding underneath “truth” and “fair game”. Those are just code words for “I’ll be super nice to him”.

Secondly, seriously? Romney’s hypocrisy is paramount when you consider the false attacks he’s leveled at Newt in Florida. I heard today that he wouldn’t even concede on Hannity’s radio show that Newt had been vindicated and he didn’t resign in shame. He wouldn’t even admit it. Talk about dishonest.

Ed Gillespie: Don’t Discount Florida Surprise
Republican political strategist and former White House counselor Ed Gillespie tells Newsmax that it would be a mistake to “discount” a Florida surprise in Tuesday’s primary battle and that the race is still too fluid to call with just hours to go before the start of regular voting.

“The polls are fluid and I don’t discount anyone’s chance to come out on top until voter’s vote,” Gillespie said in an exclusive interview on Monday. “You know that’s one of the things I think that people need to respect the process and respect the voters. And there have been surprises all along the way, and we’ll just see what happens in Florida, but I wouldn’t right now say anybody’s out of the question.”…
