AP Source: Google Among Firms Looking to Buy Hulu

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A person familiar with the matter says search giant Google is one of about a dozen companies involved in talks to potentially buy online video site Hulu.

The person said presentations to sell the company have started, but it’s too early to declare a leading bidder.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions are confidential.

Hulu began to look for bidders early last week after an unsolicited offer prompted Hulu’s board to look for other interested parties.

Hulu runs movies and shows from broadcasters ABC, Fox and NBC. The company is owned by the broadcasters’ parents, The Walt Disney Co., News Corp., and Comcast Corp., along with Providence Equity Partners.

Google’s interest was earlier reported by the Los Angeles Times.

I’ve been using HULU for a couple of years to supplement my TV and Movies. Sometimes the commercials get a little long, but it’s the only place you can find some Foreign English TV like Kingdom, Jonathan Creek, or Sea Patrol, and you can watch those TV shows that you didn’t get to see like Airwolf. I love it, but it’s in a whole lot of trouble if Google touches it. The great thing is, if they do ruin it, their will be another company along any minute to take its place.

How about putting a little light on your computer to see if someone is watching you through your camera……. If the FBI can track you through your cell phone, what else can they do?

Love HULU and HULU plus, but it makes me nervous that Google is interested.

I agree. We’ve been looking at dumping Cable and Hulu and Hulu plus along with Netflix is one of the reasons it would be feasable to do so. I don’t want Google anywhere near them. I don‘t trust google and I REALLY don’t want them to have any more control

Yea how absurd. A video on demand site that peddles in mostly liberal propaganda would be bought by a company that is known for liberal brainwashing through their search results (search “how much for”) and manipulating election apps so people in republican areas would be sent to thw wrong voting site and misleading people to glenn becks restoring honor rally would become one.

GOOGLE IS ONE OF THE MORE CORRUPT BUSINESSES IN THE UNITED STATES…

They have been found stealing personal information via wifi and patent information. This is one of the cases against them in the court system. They find a company that they like take the technology and try to shut down them down.

Then again this is one of the things that comes with economic freedom. There is a great video on the comparison between countries that have economic freedom and their quality of life: http://tiny.cc/oqlz5

I agree with the latter part of your comment, but you are misinformed on the first part. Hulu and Netflix are the wave of the future. I just hooked up my Roku device and when linked to Hulu or Netflix it gives you the ability to dump cable. Beck appears to be right when he says video streaming is the wave of the future. I am very excited about finally being able to dump Comcast. Without Hulu this would not be possible!

It should get alot better with an infusion of more money. The list of programs all of a sudden got pretty weak after the discovered so many folks were dumping cable. I agree it is the future and soon Tv/internet/video phone will be a single item. Hopefully the lower cost structure will lead to less advertising( little hope but still there).
