AP: Yale Suspends ‘Bushes’ Fraternity’ for Sexist Chants

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A prestigious Yale fraternity that counts both Bush presidents among its alumni is being banned from recruiting and activities on campus for five years after pledges were ordered to chant obscenities against women.
Yale says it has also disciplined several Delta Kappa Epsilon members and asked the fraternity’s national office to suspend the chapter for five years.
Yale bans fraternity for chants against women: wtnh.com
The fraternity came under fire in October after pledges marched through campus and chanted phrases about sex acts including necrophilia. Chapter leaders later apologized, and the national fraternity office ordered them only to stop all pledge activities.
Yale says the discipline was necessary to ensure “an educational environment free from harassment and intimidation.”
The fraternity’s national leader did not immediately return a message left Tuesday.
The move comes as federal civil rights officials investigate complaints by Yale students that the Ivy League university has a sexually hostile environment and failed to adequately respond to sexual harassment concerns. The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights confirmed last month that it has begun an investigation at Yale.
Yale has said it will cooperate with the investigation and takes such allegations “extremely seriously.” University officials said they have begun programs in recent years to respond effectively to sexual misconduct.
The students cite incidents in which fraternity members held up a sign saying, “We love Yale sluts” outside a women’s center and chanted “no means yes” on campus last fall. They also say incoming female freshmen were ranked on attractiveness.
Yale said after a full hearing its executive committee found that the Delta Kappa Epsilon chapter and several fraternity members had threatened and intimidated others, in violation of its regulations.
Yale declined to provide details about the punishment of fraternity members, citing confidentiality restrictions imposed by federal privacy law and by Yale’s policies.

At one of the sorority houses the girls where holding up a sign that said “Your freshman son will be my boy toy” and another one said “does your son come with batteries”. Guess what no males complained.
The problem comes with the over educated liberal female brats who’s mommies have told them their whole lives that they are beautiful and special and that no man is worth anything but daddy (if there is one around) When in reality little miss can’t be wrong is only uses here body when it suits her own good and then complains about being disrespected.

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 5:13amThankfully this hatred is taken seriously by civil rights officials. Pledges have free speech but so did the lynching mobs that went through streets at night spewing their hatred. So did the brown shirts that marched in New Jersey in 1937. No one spoke out in resistance. Their behaviors were encouraged through silence while the hatred spread like cancer.
Good call by Yale. The hatred needs to be rooted out quickly to ensure all students are provided an environment conducive to peace and freedom for all without intimidation no matter how harmless the motive. Students are not paying good money to be threatened on campus.
Bad call by Delta Kappa Epsilon.

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 3:30amStupid nonsense that has nothing to do with the “Bushes” what-so-ever, because it has been decades since any “Bush” has been a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
Any intelligent woman, of any race or culture, can succeed in today’s World if she has the drive and ambition to do so. Of course, women have to step out of the culture that they need a man to help them make it the World, or a man to take care of them.
Oprah Winfrey is the poster girl for a woman “making it” on her own. She may be a Diva now, but she has earned Diva status by decades of hard work and determination.

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 2:21ampretty sure they are just doing this because of the girls being freshman. kind of like freshman at a highschool all get trash caned for example. i dont think that the need to say that bush attended in the frat. it is completly irrelavent and probobly just an excuse to smear him. i think its a good thing they got punished because they need to take responsibillity for their actions but suspending them for 5 years is insane. probobly did this because of the fact that bush was in that frat. and notice that they interview 2 girls and 1 guy. maybe should have interviewed 2 girls and 2 guys or just 1 girl and 1 guy for more fair and balanced reporting.

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 2:03amYou white liberal women defend the “rights” of women to dress like sluts, parade like sluts and you are offended when a group of young men, pledging a frat house, address you you like sluts.
You liberal white women can longer have it both ways. It’s time for the men of this country to stop being laid back by the selfish, spolied brats now being bred in the scholls and universities of this country. These women never lifted a finger to help themselves or battle for anything. Now they want it all. They want to criticize men, seek the protection of the laws made by men and have men earn their livings so they can continue the charmed lives.
Young white men, Stand up! Dump white liberal sluts. SHout them down in the streets and in your class rooms. They have nothing more to offer you than the commonest girl from the least background They will use you for their own purposes, get pregnat and ruin your lives.
Look for women with principals. FInd women who appreciate you, who appreciate this country. Find women who have their own character, not the one that come from a jar of perfumed exfoliant.
“Deek,” the frat house, may be unwelcome at Yale, but you guys are welcome at my house anytime.

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 1:59amAnother example of the Yale administration living in their own echo chamber. For those of us outside of that chamber, the Yale administration looks silly and reactionary — but for the fact that they appear to be working to destroy or cripple one of the institutions of Yale…since 1844.
And for what? Violence? Treason? Sending the med school cadavers to the alumni dinner? No, for provocative words chanted/sung/yelled by 18-22 year olds in public without credible threats to anyone. No need to defend their words because the Yale DKEs and DKE (inter)national fraternity leadership apologized to those offended, for the students’ actions on the evening in question, and addressed the excesses internally (but with the Yale administration aware of the internal actions by DKE).

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 1:41amWhat would the little bug-eyed girl had said if it was a fraternity of latinos shouting about racism directed toward illeagal aliens? What would little bug-eyes comments have been if the march was held by lesbians, screaming for their rights? How would the bug-eyed girls comments have changed if code pink were trashing a frat house or shouting at a symposium featuring a conservative speaker? I wonder what bug-eyes comments would have been had she been interviewed about the slut marches?
I’m getting pretty damned sick and tired of the moral high ground held by liberal white women. I am sick of white men being portrayed as racists, rapists and idiots.
You know, Miss bug eye, a lot have men have died, most of them white, so that you can show your ignorant, painted, dishonest arrogant face on the street. You ingratiful spoiled brat.
If the Muslims don’t put your ugly face in a burka, I hope the frat house does.
These are young men, these are the men who will someday ensure you are free, these are men who will desing your future, who will protect your home and your piglets from enemies, foreign and domestic.
You and the women like you deserved to be called sluts and you have earned the right to be treated like sluts. Get off the campus. Get out of this country. Go to Saudi Arabia, Mexico, or France you you brainless pig!
