‘Apocalyptic Pain’: Sen. Coburn Warns of ‘Bleak’ Greece-Like Future for U.S.

Fox News:

“Apocalyptic pain” from an out-of-control debt could cause 18 percent unemployment and a massive contraction in the economy that would destroy the middle class, a leading Republican deficit hawk said in an interview that aired Sunday.

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who recently issued a report on government waste, warned that the U.S. only has about three or four years to get its fiscal house in order or it could find itself facing austerity measures seen in Greece, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and earlier in Japan.

Coburn went on to say:

“I think you’ll see a 15 to 18 percent unemployment rate. I think you will see an 8 to 9 percent decline in GDP. I think you‘ll see the middle class just destroyed if we don’t do this. And the people that it will harm the most will be the poorest of the poor, because we’ll print money to try to debase our currency and get out of it and what you will see is hyperinflation.”

Here’s the complete interview:

Cut all elected official salaries by 50%, cut retired elected officials pensions by 50%, cut federal employee pensions by 30%, cut all these “museums of American bottle caps” completely. Privatize the Post Office, all trash collection, get rid of the NEA, the Department of education, the EPA and throw the UN out of America. That’s where I would start and believe mme we would save a BUNDLE!

Three or four years is very optimistic. I am thinking two years tops with a possibility of some event causing a collapse of the dollar anytime. I also don’t think we should look at Greece to measure what might happen here. It probably will be much worse. They’re not even armed in greece. They throw rocks, we’ll be using guns.

      DON,

LONG before anybody had ever heard the name Glenn Beck, my parents told me what was coming in this country. That was more than 50 years ago, and I didn’t pay much attention to what they said, figured they were just a bit eccentric. But guess what, EVERY SINGLE THING they told me has now come to pass, just the way they said it would. Now they’re both gone and I listen to Glenn continuing to try and tell people the very same things they told me. Coincidence?? Not a chance.

But please continue to nestle your head in the nice warm sand as it runs out of the hour glass, eventually it will all be gone, and you and so many others will be able to “See” reality, I would say in “Living Color” but actually folks like you won’t make the cut, so I’ll say in “Dying Color”.

Fearmongering would mean that what he‘s saying isn’t true or is simply being used to advance some plan of his. It’s called common sense. Look at the FACTS. If you ran you household finances the way the government runs the federal finances you would be in prison. Just because there are a lot of extra zeroes doesn’t somehow magically make it all work. Downsize everybody. And prepare to live a simpler life. Not a big deal when you slow down and think about what you really need in your life. The big problem here in the USA is that being a developed country, it will be easy to be tracked down and controled because the infrastructure is already here. Time to move to a nice little banana republic where at least it’s affordable to pay off the commies.

I’m surprised it has taken so long for anyone in any authority to be concerned about the middle classes destruction. This has been Obama’s plan from the outset. That’s why he paid lip service as to his concerns about increasing unemployment. For those who have commented about his lack of focus on that issue, they should have understod his motovitation long ago. The“revolution” we have heard about from those around him, cannot occur as long as there is a strong robust middle class. He and his minions know that full well. His every act is performed to further weaken the economy, to bring about the demise of the middle class. No truly socialist / Marxist state eve had a middle class.
We are on the verge of that type of society.

Never forget that. He will do whatever it takes to bring us down. That’s why he goes on “apology tours,” pushes for further bailouts and other spending, appoints others who hate America, etc.

The scariest part is that he HAS succeeded. It’s all over but the shouting (and screaming). Stop worrying about being positive about the outcome and look at the facts. It’s not going to be turned around by people simply pointing out the obvious.

And end things like “the endowment for the arts” …and other things. If it is not a necessity then it does not get funded. Instead, the money they would have spent on crap will go to paying off the debt.

To tell you the truth, I’m a single man and 52 years old…I‘m hoping to forestall the collapse just long enough to die in peace and what comfort I’ve earned for my weary bones. After I’m gone it can go to hell in hand basket for all I care. I’m not usually so bleak, but all the politicians are liars out for themselves…and people like GB, RL and SH won’t run for office. Explain how an economy works and why communism and Progressivism are flawed throughout all of history. Do not respond to saboreurs, but rather repeat the same American Dream over and over. Explain what will happen with the right policies, enact them, Preach them and soon you will be showing them — We have the historical evidence to know how to resurrect an economy from the ruins of progressive Jihad…..

It is scary, but true. The crash is inevitable. All we are doing is printing money. As the dollars become more common than trash on the streets, we will feel the pain of Hyper-inflation. The best kept secret is what our national debt really is and what our unfunded liabilities amount to. I have been hearing numbers as high as 100-200 trillion. This amount cannot ever be paid off. It will be just a matter of time until the gig is up. Currency devaluation will happen overnight as was in the Soviet Union just before the collapse. The freight train cannot be stopped.

      RANGER,

Geese work really well for early detection and alarm for intruders. The Romans used them for perimeter security to good effect. They will set up a racket 24/7s when ANY intruder moves into their area.

In Rhodesia, the unwanted were dissuaded rather effectively by the use of “Scare Crows” placed along the natural lines of drift. When the OPFORS encountered the bodies of their Comrades, gutted, and hung up in a tree, appropriately decorated, it was very effective in changing their minds about coming in any further.

Also the use of improvised Man Traps can be both a very effective and completely silent method of dealing with unwanted guests. You can still get plenty of books detailing these, as they have not yet been made illegal to print, like those that invovle explosive devices etc.

Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid should be Phased Out. The Government has no business being in the Retirement nor the Medical business.

The Obama Care bill should be repealed.

If they really wanted to lower health care costs, just REMOVE the Third Party Payers from the equation. When I grew up there was no Health Insurance, the Patient Paid the Doctor and the Hospital out of their pocket, and the Charities took care of the the truly needy. You could actually afford to go to the doctor in those days, of course they weren’t all Millionaires by 30, but they did very well. The Insurance Business is nothing more nor less than a License to Steal.

Lay OFF 50% of ALL Government Workers period and then cut all Government Salaries by about the same percentage. We’d still be getting the shaft for our money, but at least we’d get some KY on it.

Outlaw Government Labor Unions Period, and then REGULATE the ones in the Private Sector the same way they do “We the Sheeple”.

Say Good-Bye to the Federal Reserve and the Money Jews that manipulate it. Base our Currency on something “FINITE and TANGIBLE” Issued by the Congress. Then “HANG” very publicly, any and all of the crooks like Bernie Madoff etal, when they are caught.

Add one more amendment to the Constitution; So long as you are able, IF you EAT, you WORK.

Repeal the ENTIRE U.S. CODE, and start over with the Constitution, as written.

Bring ALL our troops home, let the rest of the Barbarians kill each other at will, and rebuild our Industrial Base by building the weapons to sell them to kill each other with.

STOP all Foreign Aid payments, and shove the U.N. Building into the Atlantic Ocean.

Build enough Nukes or whatever to allow a Walking Barrage over the rest of the planet, Test fire them on Mecca and Medina then tell the Mooslim Pigs that everytime their “Religion of Peace” runs off the road and does a Terrorist Attack, we’ll Nuke another Mosque at Praytime.

Round up ALL the Mooslim Pigs and deport them Permanently to where ever will take them, or not, who cares. Likewise ALL the Illegals need to go home and stay there until they are INVITED back, or not, as the case may be.

Pass ONE new Federal Law: Make aiding, abetting, advocating, enacting or enforcing ANY COMMUNIST/SOCIALIST/PROGRESSIVE individual or group or law, a Felony punishable by “Hanging” again very publicly.

Being prepared is KEY. Gold in exchange for water, food, gas, propane, ammo (turning lead into gold…imagine that)…we will see it. You never know how valuable something as insignificant as toilet paper is until you can’t get it. Or salt…or bread…or a bottle of water. Think outside the box.

We need our Governors to reclaim the National Guard from Washington, we need the Oath Keepers who will be TRUE to the Constitution in the military and law enforcement, we need SHERIFFS to protect their citizens from ALL threats. We need every citizen to be armed. That’s the only way we can crush these BASTARDS.

      @MIRIMICHI,

IF you survive to that point, you will either have learned to live without electricity, fuel and piped in water. OR you will die along with 2/3 of the population of this country that won’t make the cut. That makes for a faily steep learning curve, you’ll have about three weeks or so to absorb the new knowlege and perfect your skills.

I lived that way in my youth in Wyoming, on a ranch right on the timberline. NO electricity, no Propane or Butane, no running water, no phone, radio or TV. The next ranch was 30 miles away, by horseback or on foot. It was no easy gig, but it can be done today, just like it was back then.

assuming a congress and administration that is willing to cut welfare/social programs- that MUST be done, the result is riots and thievery. It will be concentrated in the major cities and in the close by outlying area`s, that will be a problem for people that are not involved but must go there to get supplies – those folks will be no more than bait. If you prepare, you will ride it out for the short term until local national guard units contain the violence at best. The problem is the gov`t will respond in the way it always does – martial law/ curfews. Now you do not have riots in the streets, yet you still have no way to re-supply without putting yourself at risk. We out in the country will be fine,we can feed ourselves, defend our communities and wait it out – the average nine to fiver has problems – they don`t believe this can happen, so when it does the only thing they know to do is panic and demand the government help- and the cycle starts again – only now with constitutional protections “suspended” due to the emergency. sound like fun? will you be a help to your community or a drain on it? To fix the spending/entitlement bomb we hear ticking, these harsh remedies MUST be applied. Got your backup communications with family set up? Can you feed and water and MEDICATE yourself and a few others? sounds crazy huh? Take a serious look back over the last two years- still sound crazy? Willing to bet your family on it? http://www.starznbarz.com

He is asking us to hold our representatives feet to the fire to help him, though it may sound like a warning. Coburn, and Ron Paul are the ONLY two in the entire House who tried to hold the line on spending through the last three administrations. There are some newer representives like Michelle Bachman and Jason Chaffitz and maybe a handful of others who are there now, but they are still pretty new. Who knows whether they will hang tough or cave to the good ol’ boys. Coburn and Paul have even been ostrisized to some degree by the Republican establishment for their steadfast stand against Big Government. These two men are patriots with a capital P. Coburn and Paul are the real deal. We all need to try as hard as we can to get our reps to get on board. It’s especially critical in the House since they are the only ones that can initiate and pass bills that require spending. As long as Reid is running the Senate I don’t have much optimism for that side.

Some of them are trying to do something about it. But unfortunately some still think that they are owed something because they worked for a living all those years. When the real problem lies within us. We are going to have to find our way out of this by sacrificing a lot of what we don’t think we can live without. No one owes us anything, but we look forward to drawing Social Security, getting Medicaid to pay some of the bills. If we didn’t have these things to look forward to. I would imagine that we would saving a lot more for our old age.
We have been suckered into thinking that when we turn 65 that the government will take care of us. When all they want to do is control us. Then there is the matter of the career politicians that think after a few years that we can’t live without them being in office.
This is where we need to stand firm and tell the politicians that they are expendable just like the rest of us. We need to force them to take the same healthcare as the rest of us. They don’t get a free pass anymore just because they are a Senator, or Governor, or President.

Actually it will be US, the people, who do something about it. Governments steal thru regulation and taxation the ability of individuals to start businesses. When it takes a person familiar with HR, state and federal taxes, safety regulations to do ANYTHING aboveboard only the wealthy few can do anything.
So if you have an idea for an adaptor for a ladder, for instance, the chances of anyone familiar with brazing, material purchase, fixture making, etc and all the government crap, the chances of success really start to suck.
We need the government OUT OF THE WAY. Let individuals and families make stuff, offer it on an unregulated or lightly regulated market. If there are problems, that is what lawyers are for.
WE are the solution. We need to educate our children and ourselves to create, adapt and modify. To make and do. Not to sit and wait for some solution.

The only thing we can do is talk about what’s going to happen because the things that NEED to be done to save the nation are not easy. You see, no matter what now, grandma will not be getting her social security check in a few years, so it’s easier to let the train keep barreling down the tracks at full speed toward that canyon than to actually bother applying the brakes and cutting entitlements and military spending overseas to try and save some of the cars and minimize the long-term pain.

Short-term is going to hurt like hell, no matter what. We can decide to accept the pain now or delay it another year or two, at best. We can decide to do what’s easiest for us here and now and keep borrowing and printing and denying, or we can decide to do what‘s best for future Americans who aren’t even born yet like our grandparents did for us when faced with a world that was at war. It seems, though, we’ve already made that decision.

WARNING, is about all they actually CAN DO. In order to cut spending, SOMEBODY that gets a Government Check has to STOP getting them. In order to cut enough to right the ship, LOTS and LOTS of recipients would have to have the Govewrnment Teat ripped out of their mouths. Just exactly where are we going to find this MAJORITY in any Government Legislature, from a city council to the hill? The ONLY two ways out of this are, CUT,CUT,CUT every Government Parasite sucking on the Sow, OR, RAISE,RAISE,RAISE all taxes accross the board to keep the milk being transferred as long as it lasts. EITHER ONE would engender a revolt beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. ALL the POLITICRATS know this, and they are not about to do anything decisive. They are ALL too busy raking in ALL they can, before the country (economy) goes down the tubes. And, when it does, they will all start pointing fingers at “Who Dunnit” and take NO RESPONSIBILITY WHATSOEVER for their part in it.

Soros/Obungo and their Communists know they are going to get what they want, one way or another. The ONLY thing still in question is, just “what” will rise out of the ashes when it is over. They “Think” they know, they “Hope” they know. But right in the pit of their collective asses, they ALL KNOW damn well, that they could be WRONG. We shall see.

Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men’s protection and the base of a moral existence. Destroyers seize gold and leave to its owners a counterfeit pile of paper. This kills all objective standards and delivers men into the arbitrary power of an arbitrary setter of values. Gold was an objective value, an equivalent of wealth produced. Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it. Paper is a check drawn by legal looters upon an account which is not theirs: upon the virtue of the victims. Watch for the day when it bounces, marked: “Account Overdrawn.”

We need to vote, vote smart, take part in the process, write, call, and tell others what is going on. If we don’t WE ARE GOING TO LOSE. Whoever said that there is no “I” in TEAM must have been a progressive. Maybe they don’t want us to wIn. Which DOES have an “I”.
