Apple Defers to Israel: Removes ‘Third Intifada’ App

After much controversy, Apple has decided to pull its “3rd intifada” iPhone application as it “violates the developer guidelines by being offensive to large groups of people.” Reportedly, the 3rd intifada app provided users with information about when and where violent anti-Israel rallies and activities would take place.
Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Minister Yuli Edelstein sent a letter to Apple CEO Steve Jobs on Tuesday, imploring him to remove the app from circulation. Once its removal was confirmed, Jpost reported that Edelstein praised the company for doing so:
The computer giant Apple’s decision to remove an application from its online store called “3rd intifada” is an additional step in “preventing hostile elements – which are frequently tainted by anti-Semitism – from spreading incitement via the new media,” Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Minister Yuli Edelstein said Thursday.
While the removal of the 3rd intifada iPhone app is a step in the right direction, the app itself is only one small part of the larger Third Palestinian Intifada media suite, that includes a dedicated website, Facebook, Youtube and Twitter pages.
The Blaze recently reported on Facebook’s Third Palestinian Intifada page that still remains on the site despite Facebook officials’ claims that it removed the page back in late March.
In fact, JPost still reports with the assumption that Facebook removed its Third Palestinian Intifada page:
Earlier in the year, public outcry against a Facebook page carrying the same title was also removed after company heads decided that the page’s creator had posted incitement to violence against Israelis and Jews.
Edelstein claimed that both the Apple application and Facebook page were started by the same organization, seeking the same goals.
The Independent also operates under the same assumption:
Israel recently scored another success in cyberspace when it convinced Facebook to pull down a Palestinian Third Intifada page calling for an uprising against Israel. The page had attracted more than 350,000 fans.
Facebook, whose social networking site has played an instrumental role in galvanising protests across the Arab world in recent months, initially refused, buckling only after Israel appealed personally to founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Yet as we now know, the Third Palestinian Intifada Facebook page is still alive and well, and has picked up roughly another 40,000 members. In tow are numerous other intifada adjunct pages on the site. Why no other media outlet seems to notice the newer, stronger Third Palestinian Intifada pages on Facebook, remains a mystery.
Hopefully, Apple will be more consistent, and vigilant than Facebook, and won’t allow another vitriolic “3rd intifada” app to crop up in the old one’s place.

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 9:39amLeave the app on line. Play by their rules and maybe just maybe a local cab could accidentally go boom. When there are no more downloads our work is done. Tadah. I know that sounds bad, but I am getting really tired of this crap going on around the world. One of these days we will have to scare the crap out of these dirtbags. Level their town, make it horrific, and go home. Don’t rebuild. You started it, we finished it, end of story!

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 8:51amWe have reached the point of Good verses Evil with this Middle East problem, To be on the side of evil terrorists against the peaceful people of Israel, who just want to live in peace and get along with their neighbors is just evil indeed. The Palestinians, and other Muslims who want nothing short of Israel being annihilated and all the Jews killed, are no better than Hitler and the Nazis, who, by the way, they were allies with in their effort to kill all the Jews during world war two.
Report Post »People need to understand that in they eyes of these evil people Israel is the little Satan and the US is the Great Satan, How could Americans possibly be on the side of these people against Israel?

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 3:00amI like the sound of that, offensive to large groups of people. I have been hopeless because of this onslaught of evil leftist groups spreading the seeds of mediocracy like a plague. I’m glad that people are finally fighting for the survival of the U.S. We have a major battle ahead of us. I do not think we will get a break until Jesus comes back. We just cannot let our guard down. At least for now Apple thought of the Americans who are aware. I will tell you all one thing. Every American company is under attack. The goal of Gods enemy which is ours is to replace these companies with their own. Remember these individuals who may or may not be Extremists have tons of money from oil sales. Our money. These extremists have also infiltrated our own government. I send a shout out to all Blaze commentators who feverishly defend freedom. Let’s not get caught with our pants around our ankles. Honorable woman and men who defend our beautiful liberty with their tongues. Keep on keeping on in the face of prejudice by learning to have real conversations. The only way we can win is through the Art of Conversation. To gnash your teeth at our opponents is a complete win for the lefties who are so prejudice that they have a mob army to direct their bombardments at God. So be it.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 11:32pmNo kudos to Apple. What kind of company would even allow this crap in the first place? Is this what our world is now? You can’t have a FB page for an unaborted fetus, but you can have one for Third Palestinian Intifada. And only after they make a personal appeal to Apple’s evil capitalist “fat cat”, does the company cave?
