Last Friday, Apple launched their latest iPhone 4s in China and 21 other countries. The demand in China was so great that product shortages sparked a violent reaction.
As is typical with Apple products released in China, large crowds gathered outside the stores to purchase the new phone. However, one of the five Apple stores in China was egged and a small riot ensued as people heard that the phone was sold out.
CNN reports that store security guards were chased and beaten by angry customers. Police were called to the scene and helped disperse the unhappy crowd which numbered over 1000 people at one point.
The Apple store that suffered the egging is in the Sanlitun district of Beijing also happens to be the same location where a fight between a store employee and a customer broke out last May when the previous iPhone was released.
Following the violence, Apple has pulled the phone from stores China – “for the time being.” Customers can still order the phone online.

Posted on January 16, 2012 at 5:05pmHmmmm. Interesting. If they act this idiotic when they’re a few phones short, how will they react when the young men coming of age find out they are a few gazillion women short, because of their one child policy that murdered, abandoned, aborted and adopted out most of the baby girls that were born?
Just wondering….

Report Post »For centuries, the Americans have invented things like this phone, the internet, electricity, and made phenominal medical advances. Instead of the youth in China emulating that, they now simply steal the technology…like Chinese leaders hacking into the US computers for secrets, blueprints, etc.
Then, when something ‘new’ comes onto the market, they become obstinate and demanding.
Don’t worry, China. By this time next year, your leaders will have duplicated this phone, given it a different name and will charge you double for it.
If China ever decided to be a partner rather than a thief, think of the great strides we could all make in this world. The truth is, China wants to be ‘number one’ in the world. The problem is, they don’t have anyone to invent…and dream. I’m beginning to thing that new inventions and ideas should not be offered to anyone who threatens, steals from or burns the flag of the United States of America.
What happens to the greedy Chinese leaders when they can’t steal new inventions? That means they will lag behind in technology, their country won’t be manufacturing what others created, and their best friends will be Russia and Iran – all of whom want to be ‘number one’. Which of you will win?

Posted on January 15, 2012 at 11:15amWhy would they need to copy it… They are manufacturing it, aren’t they?

Posted on January 16, 2012 at 5:12pmAgreed. And they are even copying the way some idiots in this country react when the same thing happens here at a store. : ) Gotta love it.

Posted on January 14, 2012 at 12:04amIs this the Achilles’ heel of China? If they ever want to do harm to us, all we have to do is deny them apple products?!

Posted on January 13, 2012 at 10:27pmWhat is it with these people? Fighting over the new IPhone??? I mean I can understand wanting one & being disappointed if they sold out quickly, but it strikes me they would be re-stocking fairly quickly if the demand exists. But beating each other up over a telephone??? Is there something to what they say about cell phones affecting brainwaves? I guess I must be missing out because I am still using an old Nokia. The new phones do not respond to my touch & the Nokia only works about half the time because I have this tendency to affect anything electronic that I come into contact with or it may be I affect their batteries, not sure which. I just have one of those metabolisms or magnetic personalities. It’s just a phone gadget, people & not worth getting bruises over. Get a real life.

Posted on January 13, 2012 at 7:37amWhen forced with a situation of greater demand than production, there are only two options:
1) Raise prices, reinvest profits in additional production chains to reach more customers.
2) Reduce the number of people to demand your goods.
Which do you think China will pick?
google the Great Leap Forward.

Posted on January 13, 2012 at 7:49amRegulate the Companies so they have to raise prices. Then the Government demand comapnies to lower their prices because it is fair, let the Government confiscate the profits through taxation and UNION rules until the company is on the verge of bankruptcy, then steal taxpayer money to prop it up, Then shoot all the executives that failed…
We do all of this now except the last step.We just give out their addresses and call them evil rich guys.

Posted on January 13, 2012 at 7:32amLet’s see…If we follow the logic of the community organizers that demanded Nike to lower the prices of their shoes to stop the rioting in poor communities in the United States..Following that logic, then Apple should also follow suit and lower their prices to stop the rioting in China.
That makes perfect sense in Bizzaro world…I am glad for Apple. I hope they bring the profits back to the States to spend, but I am sure the tax burden would be too great to do so…
