Arab League Monitor in Syria: I Saw Snipers With My Own Eyes

More dramatic amateur footage has emerged showing violence and oppression in cities across Syria where the government has engaged in a brutal crackdown on demonstrations. The latest troubling video from the region to go viral includes shocked observations from a representative of an Arab League monitoring mission, who claims to have witnessed snipers and other violence against hundreds of thousands of pro-democracy protesters following Friday prayers.

The Telegraph reports that Syrian government forces purportedly used water cannons to disperse protesters in the southern city of Daraa.

The viral video shows an Arab League observer claiming to have witnessed snipers in the city.

“We saw them with our own eyes. We call on the authorities to remove them immediately. We will contact the Arab League immediately and if they do not comply within 24 hours, there will be other measures,” he said as translated by the Telegraph.

The video’s authenticity cannot be verified as Syria has banned most foreign journalists and prevented independent reporting inside the country. When the BBC interviewed the chief of the Arab League mission later in the day, he denied that the official had seen the snipers.

The Telegraph reports that despite the presence of the monitors, activists say Syrian forces killed at least 19 people on Friday, most of them shot during anti-government protests.

Pro-democracy protests in Syria began peacefully nine months ago but are now now violent, sparring no-one  including women and children.

The United Nations says more than 5,000 people in the nation have been killed since March.

According to the opposition forces, they were observing a cease-fire while the Arab observers were present. Assad is still claiming that Salafists and AlQuida are responsible for all the violence. The plug is about to be pulled on Assad.

The Arab observers accounced today that they are pulling out of Syria. It is simply too dangerous for them to be subjected to injury. It was on AlJazeera this morning.

So this Arab monitor believes he saw snipers on roof tops. I wonder how long it will take for him to retract his statement? This is what I envision: “No, no, the sun was in my eyes. No Syrian sniper; I’m sure it was an Israeli!”

Yup- let the snipers be. In fact, give them more targets. And lots more ammo. The more the eliminate in that country the fewer we have to dela with here when our turn comes.

I just fear that at some point the killing will cease, but the repressive dictatorship will be replaced with a islamo fascist hardline conservative nut job govt and then we the people could be in danger from crazies… There is nothing we can do, except for the failed opportunity to support the GREEN REVOLUTION in Iran… The only freedom movement in the mid east… So sad Obama is doing the opposite of what would be right like usual

They are getting closer to establishing a Caliphate. Once that is done, they will have a 200 million man army & guess who they will pick a fight with.

      @ Thomas Paine

Yes, 200 million will go after Israel but they will get soundly defeated again by the only true God. The God that has a stake in the land of the Israelites which will be found in the Jerusalem and you’ll find Him seated on the Throne of King David in not to distance future! Many have forgotten and/or forsaken Him but I assure you He hasn’t forgotten what is rightfully His! Woe to the people and countries that dear try to take it from Him!

      @66 Bronco;

      agree 100%.
All signs point to a caliphate, which will usher in the war detailed in Ezekiel.
Exciting (albeit frightening) to watch Biblical prophecy unfolding

Yeah,Hey, what happened to the support of the little guy by the US admin. Is it because Syria doesn’t have anything to offer? Or is it time for the prophetic nuke to flatten that country? Turn the sand to glass. Could one of Russias’ missing warheads be triggered? I just think it‘s pathetic that the US can’t stay consistant in it‘s support of the beauteous ’Arab Spring’. I love the smell of brimstone in the morning.

The more moslems that kill each other leaves less for us to have to kill when they attack the local mosques

and demand that the peaceful American moslems kill the infidel.

Isn’t it interesting that Obama has been hands off with Syria and Iran, but tough with Egypt and Lybia. Isn’t Syria and Iran members of the same sect of Islam? I wonder what sect Obama was afiiated with while in Indonesia? He seems to distinguish between different members of the religion with the power of the Prez. and commander and chief of our military.
