Typically, these stories reserve themselves for horror movies, but media reports out of central Jerusalem claim that an ultra-Orthodox man was attacked by an axe-wielding Arab youth today. Following the bizarre scenario, the suspect fled the scene. Israeli police are currently combing the area in an effort to locate the assailant.
The incident purportedly unfolded when the 55-year-old Jewish man was on his way to the Western Wall for morning prayers on Monday. He was left with injuries to his head and midsection, as he reportedly told authorities that he struggled with the attacker and inevitably fought him off. Despite fleeing the scene, the attacked did leave behind the weapon.
The man was discovered by Shlomo Brendmeck, a local bus driver who spotted him following the incident.
“I think if the blade had hit his head directly, the man would no longer be with us,” Brendmeck explained. “He was lucky. It was a serious axe.”
Authorities have confirmed this report.
“Around 8:20 we received a report about an attack near Highway 1, near Hanevi’im Street,” Avi Bar-Lev explained in an interview with Haaretz, a volunteer for a local rescue team. ”He told us that he was on his way to the Kotel [Western Wall], when a man jumped on him from behind with an axe and started beating him. He attempted to struggle and the attacker fled. We provided medical treatment on the scene, then an ambulance took [the victim] to Hadassah Hospital.”
Bar-Lev went on to say that the man’s survival and minor wounds constitute “a miracle.”

Posted on April 3, 2012 at 5:34amObviously, what occurred her, is that one particular individual’s freedom of religion was violated by the existence of a devil worshiping Jew. And in the name of Peace and Love the particular individual grabs the most advanced piece of metallurgy his people could divine (exhibit A – One super-******-mini-axe). Then this particular individual attempted to end this great evil of intolerance of Peace and Love, shouting what sounded like ALLAlujah ALLAlujah (good christian like chap or something) and proceeded to plant a seed of love into the forehead of this evil Satan worshiper, using it backwards because such high level of technology are hard to understand.

Posted on April 3, 2012 at 2:55amGlad the gentleman survived the attack. Zoomed in on the picture of the hatchet. The craftsmanship is very poor, unlike the fine Tomahawk used by our military which is constructed by rmj tatical.

Posted on April 2, 2012 at 1:18pmThis is no different than what Muhammad did back in the day, and it’s what the Koran tells them to do to this day. The Koran has no New Testament that overrules the past. The rule is convert or die, unless you’re an Israeli – then you just die. They’re not good people, and because of the Koran’s hideous teachings every last one of them is a suspect. As Ann Coulter once said, “We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.”

Posted on April 2, 2012 at 11:44amWhat’s sad is – people such as the left and other ‘progressive’ types is: they will somehow find “JUSTIFICATION” for such an attack. When society and the world no longer sees WRONG as WRONG but can ‘justify it’….we’re in farther greater trouble than anyone has ever imagined….

Posted on April 2, 2012 at 11:21amThe translation is accurate : Hebrew “Garzen”=Axe. The man probably wore a fur hat as most of the orthodox male Jews in Jerusalem do. This probably saved his life. Or the Arab was cross-eyed.

Posted on April 2, 2012 at 2:29pmHow many were attempted murders of another person that the perpetrator picked simply because of his background? Does it even matter? How is it any more important that it happened here rather than there?

As opposed to a plastic one? I would imagine any hunk of metal with a honed blade is “serious.”

Posted on April 2, 2012 at 11:03amI think we are missing something in translation.
Report Post »Only thing I can think of, is, a sharp blade leaves cleaner cuts and bleeds less.
Or, maybe it means the axe was siding with goodness(serious) over evil (ridiculous).

Posted on April 2, 2012 at 11:11amHaving lived in a couple of other countries I would think that the person making the description was speaking in a local colloquialism. The media then made a direct translation into English. But, I did get a laugh out of it when I first read it too.

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 11:23amYou don’t go much for descriptive adjectives in your vocabulary, do you? How about, “serious” as against a smaller, lighter ax? Or perhaps, some might be inclined to call a hatchet an “ax” to make the story sound better. Or how about, “serious” to make the point that this was no cheap fall apart tool, but a heavy duty one?
Report Post »Who knows but that someone listening to your speech patterns might find those influenced by where you live and the way people talk there. It could be.
