Arabic Channel Chooses Weirdest Fatwas of 2011

Al Arabiya Arabic Channel Chooses Weirdest Fatwas of 2011It seems as the old year winds to a close and the new year begins, everyone has an opinion on the bests, worsts and weirdests of 2011.

The Blaze has also joined in, highlighting lists including the year’s top quotes, the most fascinating people, and the “least influential people alive.”

Now a unique list to add to the others: the “weirdest fatwas” of 2011, brought to you by Al Arabiya. Here are some:

One of the weirdest and most controversial fatwas in 2011 was one issued by an Islamist preacher who lives in Europe. According to this preacher, women are prohibited from eating phallic-shaped fruits and vegetables like cucumbers, bananas, and carrots. Touching or consuming those, he argued, are bound to turn women on and make them engage in sinful fantasies.

In Morocco, the head of the Moroccan Association for Jurisprudence Research stirred both outrage and controversy when he issued a fatwa allowing Muslim men to have sex with their just-deceased wives under the pretext that nothing in Islam prohibits sex with corpses. This fatwa followed a series of sex-related ones issued by the same cleric.

That fatwa prompted a Moroccan-American blog to publish an article earlier this year titled “Necrophilia is Now Halal in Morocco,” referring to meat considered appropriate for consumption by Muslims.

More from Al Arabiya’s “weirdest fatwas” list:

Al Arabiya Arabic Channel Chooses Weirdest Fatwas of 2011In Somalia, the ultraconservative al-Shabaab al-Mujahedin Movement issued a fatwa during the holy month of Ramadan prohibiting the consumption of sambousak, a triangular pastry stuffed with meat, cheese, or vegetables. The popular snack, they explained, is a symbol of the Trinity in Christianity and is therefore not to be consumed by Muslims […]

The most outrageous fatwa in Egypt was one that came out last June and in which Egyptian preacher Mohamed al-Zoghbi said eating the meat of the jinn is permissible in Islam and left everyone wondering how anyone can get hold of them in the first place, let alone eat their meat.

That’s because the “jinn” the hardline Salafi preacher was referring to are demons or genies in English. A United Arab Emirates newspaper explained that what the Sheikh really meant was that it’s OK for Muslims to eat livestock that are possessed by “jinn.”

The Los Angeles Times quoted the same Salafi preacher Mohamed al-Zoghbi earlier this year promoting the goal of an Islamic caliphate with sharia law in Egypt:

“If Egypt becomes a caliphate, then the Middle East and Arab countries will follow our path. All Muslim youth should strive and die to build this caliphate even over their own bodies.”

Interestingly, the weirdest fatwas list was compiled by Al Arabiya, an Arabic television network (with a sister English news site) based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi-owned, a country facing its own recent criticism for its controversial education system that includes jihadist school texts, and a decision to behead a woman for allegedly practicing sorcery.

With such a wide array of prohibitions and permissions issued, it’s hard to imagine 2012’s fatwas getting any weirder.

I keep hearing the Islam is the faith of peace, while I continue to see violence and hatred from it‘s follower’s like nothing seen in any other religion for hundreds of years. I take the view of listen to what they say but pay close attention to what they do. By their deeds, Islam is a religion of no tolerance for those who believe differently, of hatred, of fear and hatred of women, barbarism, ignorance, and constant calls for violence against others.
I have decided to no longer listen to what they say, just watch what they do, and what they do is disgusting.

Mohammedanism is a plague of violence, bloodlust, hate, sexual perversion and assault, misogyny, injustice, coercion, domination, racism and intolerance.

Islam offers no mercy, no forgiveness, and in its nations and people, produces the opposite of His Love, Peace, Freedom, Righteousness and Joy.

G-D’s good purpose is forgiveness, redemption and as we worship Him, GOD gives us His power to overcome our sinful ways and actions.

Yes, Jews and Christians sin, and some who but G-D offers forgiveness and redemption. People are free to choose to love and serve Him or not.

G-D offers Jesus to be our model and friend; Jesus who is Truth, Love and Life. We are free to refuse and reject Him. We cannot change His laws to suit our addictions, wishes or s-xual preferences, we either obey him or not. The consequences of sin are painful and harmful to body, mind and spirit. It’s our choice.

I don’t know. I really don’t think the religion of peace means getting a piece of the carcass. But then, their God has so little, as in none, respect for women to provide an abundance of virgins for slaughtering infidels. So then I wonder if porking an infidel carcass is more orgasmic.

Although the above comment appears to have been written by a Christian, it’s a tradition among Jews not to throw away any piece of paper that has the name of God on it, so it’s common for them not to spell out the full name when writing on the Internet. I hope I got that right.

“When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a NECROMANCER (my emphasis) For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee

This article is on our side, making fun of silly idiots in Islam. The author uses it and turns it around to make fun of all of Islam.

Here is a list about misconceptions in Islam. It has some good information in there and you can understand better Islam. Here is the entry of Jihad.

“The true Arabic meaning of the word jihad is struggle. However in Islam it is often used to describe the striving in the way of god. There are many forms of jihad but the most important ones are Jihad al-nafs (jihad against ones self), jihad bil-lisan (jihad by being vocal), jihad bil yad (jihad by using action), and Jihad bis saif (jihad by using the sword). Each jihad is ranked differently and it was reported that Muhammad returned from a battle and said “We have returned from the lesser jihad (going into battle) to the greater jihad (the struggle of the soul).” This means that a Muslim struggling against himself and his soul is more important than the jihad of going into war. Another misconception is that only when a person dies in war does that person becomes a martyr. This is, however, false and it is believed that anyone doing anything for the sake of god and is killed becomes a martyr. A person who dies while performing pilgrimage in Mecca, a woman who dies while giving birth, or even someone who dies in a car crash while he was on his way to the mosque are all considered martyrs.”

My God never makes mistakes. He doesn’t change our Holy Bible to correct mistakes, because He doesn’t make mistakes. My God is Creator of all, and is the Almighty. So we don’t have to fight for God. He is our Lord and Savior. Lord of Hosts, angel armies. He is our Defender, and He speaks to our hearts with love. He hates those who are violent. allah has Qur’an with over 150 Surahs that speak of killing Christians and Jews. So you will cheer if your true tribe is killed? Spare us the many versions jihad is used. Muhammad was no prophet. He was a murderer, a pedophile, a liar and thief. If Allah were truly God, why would change the Qur’an? Would Allah be creator then hate Christians even while calling Jesus Most Highly Exalted One? I pray 4U Allah had associates. Some of these associates are even mentioned in the Qur’an, among them three female deities: al-Lat, al-Uzza and Manat. They were even considered to be daughters of Allah…Have you then considered Al-Lât, and Al-’Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs) (53:19)

Islam IS a man made religion. That man being Muhammad. A man who is own nurse maid thought he was possessed as child. His own tribe believed he was possessed when he grew up.

Muhammad HIMSELF even BELIEVED he was possessed by demons when he 1st met that “angel” who choked in the cave while Muhammad was doing his pagan ritual. Muhammad even later tried to commit suicide because he believed he was possessed by demons, but his wife and her uncle talked him out of it and TOLD HIM he was a prophet so he wouldn’t kill himself.

Also if the Quran is not man made, why are their so many contradictions and errors? Why is there abrogation of ayats (verses)? Did “Allah” not know that the early verses would be wrong in the 1st place? Muhammad recited his man made Quran in the span of around 23 years…so why were there so many errors that older verses had to be abrogated?

So it appears the Quran IS man made…if it weren’t there would be no need for abrogation of mistakes.

Islam is the consequence of the descent into madness and insane hatred and desire for vengeance by one man.

His spiritual journal reveals two completely contradictory periods and locations of writing (Mecca and Medina) producing statements and mandates completely conflict and that cannot ever be reconciled. His legacy to those who attempt to follow his invented religion is perpetual conflict, bloodshed, bloodlust, racial hatred, misogyny, lust, lies, pedophilia, delusion, violence, intolerance, coercion, injustice, domination, death in hell.

There is a more excellent way, the way of Love, Truth and Life, Freedom, Repentance, Redemption, Forgiveness and cleansing from sin, Transformation, Righteousness, Peace and Joy. Jesus is The Way of Love, Truth and Life. No one has eternal life without or through Him. (John 5:24, John 14:6, I John 5:12-13) All authority has been given to Jesus. He is King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and The End, Faithful and True.

The spirit of Assyria, Babylon, Egypt, of the Philistines, Caananites, followers of Baal, Molech, gods of war and hatred will be overthrown. Not by the sword of man, the material weapons, but the Sword of the LORD and His Powerful Spiritual Weapons.

      (Isaiah 31:8-9, II Corinthians 10:4-6, Ephesians 6:10-20)

The enemies of G-D are those who rebel and reject His Son, Jesus Christ.

Babylon is the spirit that opposes G-D’s plan of redemption.

      Repent.

Don’t confuse Arab culture with the Muslim religion. Honor killing, for example, is not explicitly condoned by the Koran. But honor killing it is a widely held belief in the Middle East, not a “fringe” or “extremist” element as the apologists would have you believe. At least that’s how it was explained to me by an Iraqi doctor who was not an extremist or fanatic in any way.

The issue is why Muslim leaders do not condemn honor killing, terrorism or sexual slavery. They are then complicit.

My son is friends with someone from Nigeria. He said that they are absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, my son can‘t try them because he has Celiac disease and can’t eat wheat (the pastry part) and can’t just pick at the insides. It sounded a bit like a savory version of (forgive my spelling) Greek Baklava.

I do not understand the Muslim mind.
They are COMMANDED to kill anyone who is not a Muslim or refuses to convert to Islam and yet they would be and are OUTRAGED when a Muslim converts to ANY other religion. How can a rational thinking person think that is godly doctrine? What god wants slaves? Or better stated … what god that men should want to love and serve would want slaves?
This is the difference between Islam,Christians and Jews. The Christian and Jewish God ask for and have earned our love and respect and the Muslim god demands it or you die.
I do not understand the Muslim because that is not the life I would CHOOSE. Slavery does not sound like fun to me. I love God because he first loved me and gave Himself for me but the Muslim god demands that my life be the sacrifice for him or live as a slave.
Some one help me understand why a thinking man would volunteer for this kind of oppression and slavery.
Do the Muslims not ask themselves ANY of these kind of questions or are they fearful that if they did their fathers, husbands, brothers or neighbors would kill them?
I do not understand the Muslim mind.

You really do not understand Islam and why various people from history will chose to become a Muslim. Do you think I was threatened with death if I did not become a Muslim? No, I chose Islam because that is what I wanted in my life. Muslim worship the same God as the Jews and Christians. Just the concept of God in Islam and Judaism is different then Christianity where Jesus is worshiped as a God. Islam just didn’t come out of the mind of Muhammad one day to control people. Same with any other faith. There is the good, the bad, and the ugly is all religion. Many Christians have influenced peace across the world; and many died as a result of the Christian faith. The same can be said about Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, etc. Let God be the final judge.

I am glad you are responding here. And I thank you I truly do.
You are right I do not understand Muslims though Islam I think I do understand and that is what has me bothered.
First … I do not think that all Muslims were forced to convert. I do think however that if you were not born a Muslim and the nations of Islam come into your country you either convert or die.
Second your user name has me scratching my head. No offense but that is a rare thing. My other question about were you live sounded bad and after I hit send I cringed a bit but I would love an answer….do you live in an Islamic country or in the US? If in the US how do you think you would be received in say Iran or even in Hamas controlled Gaza being born a Jew?
Why would you choose Islam? I have read the Koran and have found it violent and void of godly truth though it sounds religious. The doctrines are the antithesis of what I have come to know of the character of God. What made you think otherwise?

I can understand your concern. Many do not other stand different faiths. I’m from the United States born and raised. My parents were secular and at times I was either a believer in God or critical of all religion. Basically an atheist. Over the years in my area a mosque was built and small Muslim community was formed. I found myself attracted to Islam and decided to become a Muslim. Its has made me happy and blessed. I came from a hell hole before Islam and the community has helped make me stronger. I do know a lot about Judaism as well. Some what about the Christian faith. I personally do not believe someone like me would be attack by Hezbollah or Hamas. They might question me to see if I was a spy. Since Israel and the U.S. has spied in the country. I do know there are many people of different faiths in these countries like Christians and people who are secular. When I was an atheist I saw everything relating to religion as ugly and evil. There are times I have doubt or are critical. Too me I‘m happy where I’m at and want to make myself stronger. Let god be the final judge.

Muhammad himself was a slave owner and had many slaves. I don’t recall Jesus having any slaves.

Muhammad also raped women and said it was OK to rape female captives.

Muhammad also told some of his followers that it would be OK to lie to kill his critics.

Muhammad said that the majority of people in hell were women and they were there because they disobeyed their men and were deficient in religion.

Muhammad married a 6 year old girl and sex with her when she was 9.

Islam says that associating partners under Islam is the most UNFORGIVABLE SIN, yet Muhammad wanted his tribe to join his new religion of Islam and then he prayed and worshiped their pagan goddesses of Allah; Al-Lat, Uzza and Manat when he was the prophet, committing the worst and most unforgivable sin in Islam. Muhammad said he did it because he was POSSESSED BY SATAN and spoke the Satanic Verses.

Muhammad used to get his later revelations only came when HE WORE HIS WIFE’S CLOTHES.

So Muhammad was a FALSE PROPHET. If he was a false prophet than the religion of Islam is false.

BORN, I was engaged to a Syrian muslim waaaaay back in the 80′s. Here’s some of what he told me: He was glad about all the Jews killed in the ‘72 Olympics; He was glad that Iran took American’s as hostages; After we were married, he could forbid me from leaving the house. Also like to add that pre 9/11 there were several other muslim attacks on the US, including the bombing of the WTC. So, no; 9/11 wasn’t the catalyst for the extreme mistrust of muslims and recognition of their violence, it was what solidified these thoughts. Learning about the exteme misogyny and other sexual violence furthered the solidification of the facts.

And FYI, I didn’t marry him – no F-N way. Also FYI; there’s also no F-N way I’d marry a Christian if Christians had this kind of exposure to this kind of violence and sexual perversion. In fact, I would shun them, just like we all shun Hillsboro baptist – and they haven‘t even chopped someone’s head off on the internet…

“In Sunni Islam, a fatwa is a non-binding religious opinion on Islamic law, issued by an islamic scholar. It should be noted, however, that fatwas can be considered binding in Shia Islam, depending on your relation to the scholar. Fatwas are very similar to legal opinions on laws which exist in all nations with any form of official law. Because most fatwas are mere opinions, they can contradict one another and the choice is left to the individual muslim which one to believe.”

This is a good general understanding of fatwas. May Allah bless you all and Happy 2012.

One of my classes in college, I had to take a religious studies class, I did learn a lot about Islam, and I have numerous relatives and friends that have gone to the Middle east and Afghanistan. I have read numerous books about the Islamic movement and the radical beliefs. And have had firsthand experience with members of the nation of Islam, here in the US. Yes, true Islam stresses peace, but when you vehemently disavow the radical elements and take measures to disband them from school teachings, Islam is a religion that says we are peaceful, but “Wink, wink” we don’t mind those guys killing Jews and Infidels.
By the way, when your religion treats these radicals the same way the Christians treat the “Hillsboro Baptist”, we outsiders will just keep lumping all Muslims in with the suicide bombers that kill other Muslims.

I would like to point out the Nation of Islam is not Islam. Just like Messianic Judaism is not Judaism. What many do not understand is that Jesus is the Messiah and prophet in Islam. Jesus could perform miracles but only through God. Why many are confused because they see Muslims as evil terrorist. But before 9/11 I bet many people saw Muslims using flying carpets and charming snakes. Right? I mentioned before the concept of God in Islam and Judaism is different then Christianity. Both Judaism and Islam do not believe in human sacrifice. We believe in prayer is the best form of atonement of sin.

I do not understand why you thing Christians think God wants human sacrifices. God has NEVER AND WILL NEVER ask us to kill a person for any reason what so ever!!!!
Jesus went to the cross WILLINGLY! As God’s one and ONLY Son he could have decided not to endure the cross. But he saw you …. and me…. and your neighbors and family and endured the cross so that you would not have to endure hell. That is NOT God “requiring” human sacrifices! That is the grace and mercy of God demonstrated BY GOD! Jesus God’s ONLY Son chose the cross to pay what you and I could NEVER pay for ourselves.
Islam uses that term human sacrifices as a way to deceive people into thinking that the God we serve and love and loves us has lied to us saying…“I require human sacrifices” when that is NOT THE TRUTH AT ALL!!!! That is NOT what God has EVER said he wants from us.

The Hadiths are also part of the “Law of Islam”.

The Quran says you should not take Jews and Christians as your friends because they are friends of each other…and if you do, as a Muslim, you are a loser.

The Quran also says to fight the unbelievers until they submit to Islam

The Quran also says drive all Jews and Christians and non-believers from Muslim lands…which is now going on today.

The Koran is a spiritual journal that contains completely contradictory of statements and mandates from the two different periods of Mohammet’s life. The Mecca writings are fairly respectful of others, but the period after he had visions and dreams from a demon pretending to be the Angel Gabriel, became violent, vengeful and intolerant, full of condemnation and hatred for both Jews and Christians.

The consequence has been a whole culture of perpetual war, inhumanity, bloodlust, rape, murder, misogyny, pedophilia, racial hatred, injustice, hypocrisy, intolerance, unforgiveness, cruel torture, outrageous forms of punishment.

It was also considered pagan and SHIRK to worship and pray to pagan idols…yet Muhammad, while he was the prophet, prayed and worshiped Al-Lat, Uzza and Manat.

And you say you know Judaism, well than you know that if a so-called prophet prayed and worshiped false idols and called himself a prophet he should be put to death. Meaning Muhammad was a FALSE prophet and should’ve been put to death for worshiping false idols while he said he was a prophet.

      @Born Jewish.

September 10, 2001 few people in the United States knew anything at all about Islam. To make that assertion today is a falacy. I lived in the Middle East for two years. I know more about Islam than you do, most likely. If you converted here, in the US, I doubt seriously that you are practicing the same Islamic religion as the Middle East. Thankfully, we do not have sharia here (yet). There are principles of your faith that are just not acceptable here, thus you are not practicing Islam fully. I have seen several people on this board ask you to explain how you can claim Islam is a peaceful religion when your own holy writings requires you to kill the infidel whereever you find them- convert or die. And, just like all Muslims when asked this question, you do not respond at all. You continually ignore it. Until this facet of Islam is logically explained away, I will never believe that your faith is a peaceful one, misunderstood and hijacked by radicals. Seems to me, the radicals are practicing the real Islam, and people such as yourself are the hijackers- trying to follow and practice a very violent and intollerant religion by ignoring and side-stepping the salient foundations of the religion.

Most likely he was referring to domesticated animals such as cats and dogs. Most Muslims are afraid of dogs because they believe they are possessed by Jinn. Even worse, they believe these Jinn’s are the spirits of bad people who once lived and were bad people when they were alive and have now become demons and possess living creatures, commonly, dogs. We lived in the Middle East for two years and had a dog while there. Everytime a Muslim would visit, they would literally run from our dog, which is a miniture American Eskimo. We asked them why they were afraid of dogs and this is what they told us. So, apparhently the Middle East will follow the likes of some countries in Asia.

Why in the world has Obama not been impeached and thrown out of the White House when only natural born citizens with TWO American citizen parents. Regardless of where he was born, it is 100% clear that he doesn’t meet the two citizen parents clause and that rules him out of the position as president.

The weidest one is their Fatwa against soap and toilet paper.

Most Muslims have nothing against using toilet paper. The scriptures say to clean your butt with pebbles followed by water. This shows a very modern concern for hygiene considering that at the time a lot of people didn’t clean their butts at all. Most modern Muslims recognize that in the spirit of the law the important thing is to clean your butt, and that there is nothing wrong with using something that works better than stones. Of course, like any other religion there will always be some boneheads who will put the letter of the law above its obvious intent.

There was one fatwa that a woman would have to give her breast to men who were not related to her to suckle if they had to work with them or be in the same room. That cause a big uproar in Egypt some years ago.

That is because Muhammad said that women had to give their breasts to strange men if they were to enter their home.

Chet has obviously never been in a restroom after a group of muslims finished with it.
They don’t understand the workings of a toilet much less the preference of toilet paper over a handful of rocks. And when they do get the idea of flushing, they stop up the pipes with whole rolls of unused paper. Then to top it off, if the toilet is facing the wrong direction, (Mecca), they must either use the sink or the floor. Then protest like little children to have the toilets direction changed. This caused quite a stir at the 5500 building.
