Archie Comics Plans Obama-Palin Slugfest

Politics are quickly spreading to the pages of the nation’s comic books. While “Archie” learned “anything’s possible” when President Barack Obama and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made their debut sharing a friendly milkshake earlier this month, the comic’s creators are promising to turn up the political heat with new stories featuring Obama and Palin duking it out in “The Fight for America.”

According to Politico, Archie Comics plans to announce on Tuesday plans for multiple future covers carrying the Obama-Palin theme. While Obama is dubbed “The Chicago Kid,“ Palin is declared ”The Thrilla from Wasilla.”
Archie Comics co-CEO Jon Goldwater told POLITICO that the company had received so much positive feedback on the first Obama/Palin cover (which made the rounds last week) they decided, why ruin a good thing?
“We sat around and talked and said, ‘Holy toledo!’ This is something that we should take a look at and bring the president back on the cover for.” (He said he just reached out to both the Palin and Obama camps and predicted that “I‘m sure that we’re going to hear from them” about their comics).
“At the end of the day, President Obama and Sarah Palin completely come from opposite sides, but they both want the same thing: The best interests of the United States. And we figured Riverdale High School was a place they can unite,” he said.

Posted on September 28, 2010 at 4:36amI’d been working part-time in a comic shop for the past 8 years, and I’ve seen so much liberal gobbledy-**** in the comics that it’s sickening. Beloved patriotic characters like Captain America have become more like Captain France. There was even an issue of The Ultimates where Captain America points out the A on his forehead and yells, “This don’t stand for France!” But then you got the dig at the Tea Party, with the new Captain America pointing out to the Falcon (a black character) the lack of black people in the crowd at a Tea Party rally.
Then you got comics by Bluewater Comics that are essentially biographies of politicians and people of importance in the political arena. Of course, there was one for Obama and one for his wife, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, but they also did comics of Rush Limbaugh, John McCain, and Sarah Palin. In those comics, the write blatantly states that he’s going to have a hard time being “fair” to the conservatives, but the books are riddled with snide digs here and there.
All I can hope for is a comic of “Punisher Kills The Democratic Party” in the same vein as “Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe”. Funny… there was a comic where the Punisher meets Archie and the gang. Gone are the days where modern mythological characters perform heroic acts that promote patriotism and love for their country, instead we have Barack Obama teaming up with Spider-Man, and you just pray that he doesn’t get any powers that may involve shooting webs out his butt at some conservative.

Posted on September 28, 2010 at 2:24amWhy? If Palin were running for an office – or in an elected position, I guess I could understand this.
Report Post »This is not unlike the progressive’s reaction to the contract with America that the Republican party recently released. It was simply the ideas and plans should the Republican party become the majority in the House. Save the elongated, detailed ‘Promise to America’ for the Presidential election.

Posted on September 27, 2010 at 11:40pmTo be fair, Marvel had “Ultimate President Bush” who was usually shown in silhouette in his office, pointing with his finger. He had a mutant bodyguard.
I miss Ultimate President Bush.

Posted on September 27, 2010 at 7:10pmI thought liberals abhored violence? Considering the lack of reading skills taught and learned in many government schools, much of the target audience probably just looks at the pictures and ignore the captions. The “duking it out” sends the message that we settle political differences by violence. Oh, wait, the SEIU already does that, don’t they?

Not only kick his butt clean over the moon, Sarah can easily beat him at basketball. I would bet Sarah could beat Obama at arm wrestling. A no brainer is Sarah could beat Obama at any type of foot race; the girl would run circles around his scrawny smoker’s backside.
More important, Obama is a mental midget compared to Sarah.
