Are Conservatives Happier Than Liberals? Why?

While political animosity and tension between conservatives and liberals may seem high, each group is not miserable. According to several recent studies, conservatives are happier than liberals, and as economic inequality has increased over the last quarter century, the happiness gap has widened. PBS NewsHour aired a report Friday examining this development by interviewing employees of the right-leaning think tank the American Enterprise Institute, as well as members of Occupy DC, to gauge the happiness of individuals within each group:
Jaime Napier of Yale University has studied the divide, and tells the NewsHour that she believes conservatives are happier than liberals because they think there is equality of opportunity in America.
“One of the biggest correlates with happiness in our surveys was the belief of a meritocracy, which is the belief that anybody who works hard can make it,” Napier tells PBS. “That was the biggest predictor of happiness. That was also one of the biggest predictors of political ideology. So, the conservatives were much higher on these meritocratic beliefs than liberals were.”
Occupy DC protesters tell PBS that the system is unfair and opportunities are not equal these days.
In addition to one’s optimism of opportunity and political ideology, Napier’s studies accounted that happiness is boosted by religion, marriage , education, people who lived urban vs. rural and several other factors.

Funny I don’t blame race for every ill of the world like the Progressives do. I don’t want what is yours without working for it like Progressives do. - I have a good marriage that both of us work at to keep that way.
- I am annoyed by the bible thumpers but am happy to let them do their thing and don’t try and force my ways on them.

- Happiness truly is a steaming gut pile taken with one of my ‘hoard’ of firearms so I can add the meat to my ‘hoard’ of food.
- I pray that there is no social unrest but prepare just in case.
- I am happy to live in bitter clinger land away from the hubs of ‘intelligentsia’ where people can still do a deal with a hand shake.
- I still have a GOOD Plan in case the SHTF that does not involve the government saving my sorry butt and am semi-happy with it. What is yours? Whine and die?

They can’t use reason or facts because they don’t support their feelings. They twist reality to support what they feel and that causes a lot of frustration because it NEVER lines up. Do Jessie Jackson, Jeramiah Wright, Al Sharpton, John Stewart, Al Franken, Bill Mahr seem happy? The Liberal creed is based on class warfare,jealousy and envy of the rich, no rules to live by, in many cases no religion. It is a philosophy that is negative rather than positive. Those people at OWS frequently come from well situated homes, went to top level schools and think that everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. The one part that is missing in this equation is who is working to produce the food, the electricity, the running water and other life amenities that we enjoy.

Since then I have worked for two companies that have closed..now on my third job. I started the third job in June 2010 and was making 1/5 of what I made in 2009. I believe in the American Dream, through hard work and I mean hard work I am almost back to that salary of 2009!
There is no way the government could every do that for me. I made it when I was in my 20′s and I will make it again as I hit my fifties that is the American Dream…hard work pays off!!!
