Are GOP Candidates Reversing Course on Energy and Global Warming?

Politics can be a tricky game and in today’s fast-paced news cycle almost every speech, interview and comment-in-passing can and usually is on record…somewhere. Candidates on both sides of the aisle are often caught flip-flopping on issues of great importance.
So, with the GOP race off to a lukewarm start, one wonders: Have the prospective candidates been consistent when it comes to global warming and the environment?
Let’s take a look at some past and present positions on climate change among some supposed (and declared) GOP presidential contenders:
Jon Huntsman:
Then: “Now it’s time for Congress to act by capping greenhouse gas pollution.” – Environmental Defense Action Fund ad, 2007.
Now on the science: “This is an issue that ought to be answered by the scientific community. I’m not a meteorologist. All I know is 90 percent of the scientists say climate change is occurring.” – Time magazine, May 23, 2011.
Now on the policy: “Cap-and-trade ideas aren’t working; it hasn’t worked, and our economy’s in a different place than five years ago. Much of this discussion happened before the bottom fell out of the economy, and until it comes back, this isn’t the moment.” – Time magazine, May 23, 2011.
Tim Pawlenty
Then: “If we act now, we can create thousands of new jobs in clean energy industries before our overseas competitors beat us to it. So come on, Congress, let’s get moving. … Cap greenhouse gases now.” – Environmental Defense Action Fund radio ad, 2008.
Now on the science: “I think climate change occurs, but the bulk of it is natural historic trends in climate. There is some suggestion that humans have caused some of it, but the answer is not a government, top-down scheme.” – WHO radio interview, April 1, 2011.
Now on the policy: “What I concluded subsequently is it is really a bad idea. It is ham-fisted. It is going to be harmful to the economy.” – South Carolina debate, May 5, 2011.
Newt Gingrich
Then: “I started by saying let’s stipulate that it is probable global warming is going on, and that it is conceivable human beings have a role, and therefore as a matter of prudence we ought to have less carbon loading of the atmosphere.” – New York Times interview, Nov. 13, 2007.
Now on the science: “I distinguish `science’ from `political science,’ and when I see 6,000 scientists sign something, that’s called political science. That’s not science.” – The Macon Telegraph, May 14, 2011.
Now on the policy: “It is inconceivable that any threat from global warming is big enough to justify destroying the American economy.” – The Macon Telegraph, May 14, 2011.
Mitt Romney
Then: Speaking of a regional cap-and-trade pact for power plant emissions, “This is a great thing for the Commonwealth (of Massachusetts). We can effectively create incentives to help stimulate a sector of the economy and at the same time not kill jobs.” – The Boston Globe, Nov. 8, 2005.
Now on the science: “He believes the climate is changing but he does not know the extent to which human activity is contributing to it.” – Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul, May 18, 2011.
Now on the policy: “Gov. Romney opposes cap and trade because it is bad for business and it costs jobs.” – May 18, 2011, Andrea Saul.
It’s hard not to see these comments as contradictory. But, in a campaign season candidates of all persuasions have a penchant for fearfully reconstructing their views before. The only problem? They forget about the track records they’ve already left for themselves.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 1:02amClimate change has always been here spring, winter, summer, fall and always with varying intensities, in each cycle. Man has no impact on these cycles or their intensities, life is carbon base and c02 is necessary for all vegatation. These morons will damage the O2 producers necessary for life and food production. The problem is they take the word of climatologists who can’t predict the weather with any certainty for the next few days let alone for the next 20 years. They know what the forces are that drives our earths weather the sun and the oceans and the impact of volcanos when these clowns can demostrate they can control those forces then they have man controling the climate. They will never have that power!

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 12:02amIf some human activities can effect climate on a local scale it stands to reason that some human activities could effect climate on a global scale. The questions are do we know enough yet ? And what can we do if anything ? We change climate locally everyday by turning up the heat or the air condioner. No big deal because such change is planned and controllable. An example of human activity that caused an unforseen local climate catastrophe occured in recent history. Some who lived through it are no doubt still alive today. It was called the dust bowl and it’s effects were felt across most of North America. Not quite global but alot more extensive than just a living room. Please research the dust bowl and black blizzards to see what I mean.

My vote goes to Allen West. I am just not sure a ‘real’ candidate, who is not already part of this rotten system can get nominated. The GOP is just as rotten and corrupt as the Dems, and anybody who is not already OWNED by the same special interests as the rest of them, they will move heaven and earth to keep them from getting nominated. But a third party is also dangerous because you risk splitting the vote–and that would be fatal. We CANNOT have a split conservative vote when the liberals and moonbats are voring as a bloc, unless you want four more years of Obummer. I agree with this statement. But keep in mind that not voting for the Republican candidate, no matter who it is, will ASSURE the destruction of this country.
Let’s keep our wits – every vote for the Republican candidate is a vote against Obama! We can and SHOULD be selective in the primary, but we’ll need EVERY VOTE POSSIBLE in the final election just to counter-balance the Obama voter-fraud machine. Their plan is to over-whelm the system with fraudulent voter registrations and votes like they did in 2008. We need to overwhelm the system with VALID Republican votes!
Any good Conservative needs to vote in 2012 or give up their citizenship. Our country needs us – this is no time to stand on the sidelines.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 6:45amBut you need to go further than this list of folks as it is not all inclusive. What we are observing in the United States is a paradigm shift from Christian doctrine to Stoic doctrine among the politicians and college educated. Stoic doctrine has been driven into the United States like a searing hot drill bit, driving out Christian doctrine and replacing it with Stoic doctrine. Don’t be surprised, the Apostle Paul warned of this in Colossians 2:8 after his visit to Athens (Acts 17:15).
80% of the politicians in the United States, are not believers in Christian doctrine, most believe in Stoic doctrine, which is the same doctrine that Hegel taught to his students which included Marx & Engels, (but also those who argued against Hebrew-Christian doctrine (Bauer Feuerbach, Sterner etc) its also the same doctrine which Henri Saint Simon believed in, as well as Darwin. The current President of the United States is not a believer in Christian doctrine, he is a Zealot of Stoic doctrine as defined by Hegel. Marx & Engels, James Cone, and mentor to James, Gustavo Merino.
Some 80 – 95 % of politicians in the USA today, believe in some form of Stoic doctrine (Socialism, Communism, Progressivism and Liberation Theology). The mistake made in the USA was to vote in a single party (democratic) which contains over 98% believers in Stoic doctrine. The second mistake is for Christians not to understand Stoic doctrine. Posted on May 28, 2011 at 3:49amWHO says it’s “LUKEWARM” ? As far as NEWT (with his former aid now lobbyist for Tiffany & Co…gee…do you suppose….??? ) or Huntsman or Pawlenty (the guy who let Sharia Law be practiced in MN) …they aren’t real candidates and do not even begin to speak for a CONSERVATIVE Republican…and trust me… the vast majority of people have had it with PROGRESSIVES…all the people…even a lot of the DEMS.
TO make sure we defeat the Marxist in the WH all we have to say is that their plan, if they get O back in the WH is to raise taxes on wealthy to 62% …can anyone say “JIMMY” (as in Carter)? raise our taxes and these poor misguided idiots think that’s going to pay down the debt. THEY Never say anything casting out the food stamp whores or the fraudulent Medical tramps… they never talk about ridding the govt.of the useless duplication (or more) of useless entities…. IF OBAMA gets elected there will be no small businesses; no jobs; and all the wealth will leave the USA. It did before, it will again. What idiots these people are. How many times do they have to wreck the economy before they figure it out? Twice in my lifetime so far…JIMMY and this jerk. GOOD NAME FOR A SONG…JIMMY AND THE JERK.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 6:23amPeople read this and are surprised? Its not the politicians that don’t understand, its the people who don’t understand politicians. Even Glenn Beck gets it wrong concerning politicians. We assume the old theory or the political Right and Left of one linear line. The fact is there has never been one linear line of people. The closest we came to one linear line was in the early days of this country when most men (90+%) were believers in Christian doctrine. At that time you could have had liberal and Zealot viewpoints under one doctrine.
As time has moved foreword and especially since the 1960s, the USA has become split over two doctrines. And now a third doctrine is emerging. Many of the people of the United States remain believers in Christian doctrine, this makes up the majority of the Tea Party folk. In the 1960s and beyond there was a paradigm shift among 95% of the college educated who switched from Christian doctrine to the Stoic based doctrine of Hegel and his students Marx & Engels, and some to Henri Saint Simons version (Socialism, Communism, Progressivism, and Liberation Theology). The final doctrine which is emerging today is Muhammad’s doctrine (Islam).
Believers in doctrine generally shift from Zealot (Right) adherence to Liberal (Left) adherence. What you are observing in these political comments is the movement of the politician from the Mid stream of Stoic doctrine to the liberal or left side of that doctrine.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 6:33amNone of these 4 candidates is the answer, and it doesn‘t have anything to do with their position on the earth’s climate – which has fluctuated over time. Why don’t people understand this? Remember when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Wasn’t it a bit warm then?
These (4) are shining examples of RINO’s. They’re primary goal is the assume the position. Secondary is leading, and none of them have vision.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 7:36amI hope I get the spelling right, I heard T. Boone Pickins is letting go of his ‘wind projects’ and pushing for gas projects as they are more cost effective. Speaking of those wind projects has anyone looked into the vibration effects and harm they can cause the humans? I know on sailboats wind generators do have a vibration and they certainly throw an awful vibration. When shut down one is glad for it as they tend to wear you out physically.
I personally do not believe in this man-caused global warming and trust more that it is of natural phenomenon. This needs to be brought out by the scientific community, the GOP needs to ‘sell’ this one hard same as Gore sold his false bill of goods to America which most bought into due to ‘guilt’. Now we are heading down the road of throwing good money down a bottomless pit–which is what I think Gore’s plan has been all along. Bringing down America cause no one voted him President–whaaaa.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 9:23amThese four “cadidates” are Progressive Republicans who really do believe in the global warming nonsense. They are attempting to reverse their previous stances, because it has become very unpopular with the American people and would prevent them from being elected. They hope that people have short-term memories and will vote for them regardless of what has been said and done in the past by these Progressives. Don’t believe a word that they say, as they have proven that they are more than capable of flip-flopping on issues to the point who knows what they really believe.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 12:18pmI wish these guys would learn to separate the two issues with ‘climate change’ : One, is the climate changing, and two, is it caused by man? The are separate issues. The answer to # 1 is yes, of course it’s changing, as it always has and always will. # 2 is debatable, but if we are going to say yes, then someone needs to explain how the area of the country I live in has been under ice about 30 times over the millenia and each time, the ice receded thousands of miles north without so much as a single SUV or an air conditioner to be found. Someone needs to explain how a naturally occuring gas that is less than 3% of our atmosphere is destroying it. Someone needs to explain why life during the Eocene Age exploded on the planet, when the atmospheric C02 levels were approximately 300 times higher than they are now. Someone needs to explain why every warming period in recorded history led to an advance in agriculture, manufacturing, innovation and standard of living, but why it’s bad now.
or they could just swallow the “science” to not rock the boat.

Hmmm, but how can that possibly be when there weren’t any cars and factories and selfish industrialists to muck it all up? It’s all bs and just a way for libs and their friends to get rich investing in the green energy solutions they are cramming down our throats. We need to take our country back once and for all. The work begun in 2010 needs to be completed in 2012 with a decisive win for conservatives and constitutionalists. Amen!

Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. (22) “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”
These guys are all cut from the same cloth. Not one of them said “I believed at one time that there was GW, but now that I’ve actually looked into the matter, my position is…” And if you pay close attention none of them has changed their opinion on GW they just say C&T would be bad for the economy…right now.
So now its “climate change”. Is there climate change? Duh. It changes from year to year, season to season, month to month, day to day, even morning to evening. We’re being played as fools.
Seeker says “If the GOP blows this election…”? Really? How about if the american electorate blows this election… At the end of the day we’d be better off electing mickey mouse than what either of the two parties offer – although they probably have his signature programmed into robot pen as well. I live in OH where we have a saying for newcomers: “If you don’t like the weather, wait 10 minutes!” Climate change is a little different but the same theory, “of course it changes, always has, always will!”
We need to once again teach in the schools that as the Earth revolves around the sun, it rotates on it’s axis. This rotation means that what was N will over time change until it finally becomes S as in the “Polar Flip”, if I may quote the Polar scientist from Rush last year. Anyone should know that as the poles prepare to flip the climate will change accordingly. No mystery, They used to teach it in 2nd & 3rd grade science classes.
