Are Newt’s Past Infidelities Really News? His Former Colleague Says Yes

As ABC News considers when it will air any or all of the interview from Newt Gingrich’s ex-wife Marianne, there are other folks stepping forward to talk about the alleged affairs of the former Speaker of the House. But is this news? One of his former colleagues thinks so.

Newt’s former colleague of 16 years, Bob Dornan claims that a female member of his staff was targeted by Gingrich and pursued with such vigor that she eventually quit working for him. In a recent interview with 1170 KFAQ’s Pat Campbell, the ex-Congressman also made some strong charges that paint Newt as a serial cheater and someone who was known for targeting the young and innocent women who were working on Capitol Hill.

Mr. Gingrich’s daughters, Kathy Lubbers and Jackie Kushman, have written an open letter to ABC News about their father:

“We will not say anything negative about our father’s ex-wife. He has said before, privately and publicly, that he regrets any pain he may have caused in the past to people he loves.”

While the Gingrich girls have not asked for the interview to be delayed or even scrubbed, they have made the following statement:

“ABC News or other campaigns may want to talk about the past, just days before an important primary election, but Newt is going to talk to the people of South Carolina about the future– about job creation, lower taxes, and about who can defeat Barack Obama by providing the sharpest contrast to his damaging, extreme liberalism.  We are confident this is the conversation the people of South Carolina are interested in having.”

Curiously, a search for “Newt’s ex-wife” on the ABC News website yielded very little about the story that’s getting major air time on virtually every other news outlet:

Newt Gingrinchs Old Affairs, Are They Old News?

However, when we searched the web, as ABCNews.com suggested, there were plenty of options.

Newt Gingrinchs Old Affairs, Are They Old News?

Obviously, the candidate and his family are going to say that negative moments in their past should not be part of the campaign.

By the way, the Gingrich girls are also part of their father’s campaign. Jackie regularly appears on Fox News on behalf of her father. They also released this video just before the end of last year. (The clip includes a story of Newt heroically jumping into icy water to save the family dog… an odd contrast to the 20-year-old story circulating last week, the one about Mitt Romney putting his dog on the roof of his car.)

How do you feel about making a candidate’s personal history the center of attention in a campaign?

Do Newt’s Old Affairs Matter

Question is not whether they are news, the question is whether they are reflective of his character, his view of himself and the world and his decision making. Which of course they are.

If that letter were really written by his daughters, why would his daughters refer to him as “Newt”.

      Serial slime-ball, quintessential politician.

What we need most is not to get rid of Obama — to be replaced with another guy who’s just good with words.

The interview goes to his character. While speaker he came up with the “Contract with America” that, among other things, promoted the sanctity of marraige and the family. It encouraged monogamy and fidelity. While he was promoting that he was taking Calista back to his apartment for some serious cheating.
This brings into question his honesty and his character. We need a man who is honest with the American voter and has the moral character to practice what he preaches. I’m just not sure Newt is that man.
Right now the republican candidates need to quit beating up on each other and start beating up on Obumbler.

The days of this kind of thing mattering should be OVER. Anyone with a brain should know that this has nothing to do with whether he will be a good president or being able to lead this country out of debt and getting people back to work. His past sins should not matter. If they matter to some then they need to get a brain. The Obama team will get ugly. The press pushes this on us even if we don’t want to hear about it. The press and Obama team has been wanting to run against Romney and started all the class warfare in anticipation of it. Now they have to change course and push dirt on Newt, just like they did with Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann and anyone else. This kind of political stuff should not work but does with the little brains. It will take someone with a fighting spirit to go up against this kind of politics. GO NEWT!

Newt cheats repeatedly on wives and on mistresses, seeks out young and vulnerable women, and we can’t talk about it? Newt has ethics problems and is removed from the Speaker position and we can’t talk about it? Newt believes in man-made global warming, giant federal run education, giant pet projects, FDR is the greatest president of all time, and you think he’s a conservative?

Marriage is a sacred obligation in the eyes of our Lord and Newt has shown in the past that they were just words to him! One of his former colleagues says that he thinks Newt is a ‘serial’ cheater.

It has been said before, if you lie to me now, what prevents you from lying later. Once a liar, always a liar. Character matters in a president and I think he fails on this matter.

Don’t you think that Conservatives should be focusing on the Clunker in the White House. He certainly has enough scandals to report on. Back in 2007 Larry Sinclair held a press conference with his attorney present reporting that he gave Hommie in Chief a hummer while Homie smoked crack cocaine in the back seat of a limo. Larry was arrested by Joe Biden’s boys and later released. Larry then proceeded to the Chicago Police with his lawyer and filed an affidavit stating all to be true. He later took a lie detector test and passed with flying colors the part of the testimony about the crack cocaine.

You can make up your own mind about the hummer based upon the following. A man named Donald Young, a good friend of Barack according to Donald’s mom, a black homosexual and choir director at Barack’s church joined the Obama campaign and was put in charge of investigating the Sinclair allegations. Before he finished that investigation he was found murdered Chicago style. Have you seen ABC, NBC and CBS following up on these allegations? Why not, after all, this is the Commander in Chief who has been compromised?? Lets leave Newt alone until these allegations are thoroughly investigated and reported on. This should be Newt’s and the other candidates defense.

This isn’t character assassination….. this is Newty’s character!!! He is a sleazebag who can’t be trusted. It is a fact that Newt left his first wife and 2 daughters high and dry. Several people had to help his first wife with financial support for her and his two daughters while Gingrich moved on with wife number 2 and lived the high life in Washington D.C.. Open up the court records.

His daughter’s now have a vested interest in the Gingrich brand because they work for his $million think tanks and foundations. It is great that they mended fences but this man has no business leading this country.

Murdoch is probably going to go all out pushing this former Fox News associate for president, to get him to pass SOPA and PIPA. That is the other high negative about Gingrich…his positions can be bought. As Santorum has said Gingrich is no conservative, there are scores of congressman that worked with him that will attest to that fact. Gingrich was pushed out by the House GOP because of his ethics violations but also because he was fighting them on leading conservative issues of the day.

Unaware that Soghanalian was an FBI informant, it is alleged that Marianne Gingrich whilst working for the Israel Export Development Corporation (IEDC) tried to facilitate a bribe to the tune of $10 million so that her husband could use his influence to lift the arms embargo against Iraq in order for Soghanalian to collect an outstanding payment of $54 million from Saddam Hussein. “”””"

No, we all should be pissed because Barack Hussein Obama was given a pass on the Larry Sinclair allegations back in 2007. Larry gave a press conference with his lawyer present and claimed that Homie gave him a hummer and smoked crack cocaine in the back of a limo. Larry, with his lawyer in tow filed an affidavit stating it all to be true. Larry was also arrested after that conference by Joe Biden’s friends and shortly released. Larry also took a lie detector test and passed the part about the crack cocaine use with FLYING COLORS. Did you hear ABC, CBS and NBC reporting on that one? You can make your own mind up about the “hummer” but I will tell you that Donald Young, a very good friend of Barack according to Donald’s mother, a black homosexual and long time choir director at Obama’s church, as an Obama campaign worker was in charge of investigating the Sinclair allegations. Before that investagation was complete Donald Young was murdered Chicago style. His mother suspected foul play. The case is still UNSOLVED! Maybe we should be focused on these allegations, after all, Barry is our President and soon to be a candidate again.

The press (including Fox news) has deemed Herman Cain a sexual pervert based upon allegations, should we assume that we elected a Bi-Sexual Crack Head for President based upon the Sinclair allegations. He passed a lie dector test, will Newt’s X take a lie detector test?

So Gonzo was this the moral compass you were referring to with regard to Independents.

Clinton was one of the worst when it came to the degradation of women and yet they all sang his praises. I guess if you are a nonsexy overweight republican, you don’t get such favor.

Not really a story is it? Maybe ABC’s soap opera lineup sucks and they want to grab that market share?
What interests me is Mr. Beck’s claim on The Factor (see nearby story on this site): that Mr. Gingrich holds Pres. Wilson, Teddy and Jackson, all progressive ‘big government’ types in high regard. At the next debate I dare the panel to put this question to the candidates – all of them then we can do a comparative study of the responses.

Beck is the first one to pick up on the Jackson VS the Indians thing (as far as I know) When Newt said it the other night, I told my wife “that’s trouble”. I have been surprised that the American indians didn’t immediately go on the war path.

I’m no fan of Newt, but dont let them do to him what they did to Cain. “nnelG and his stooges are going to run with this story for the rest of the week”

I think we can conclude that most politicians are sexual rats and leave it there. It‘s just curious to me that the media is hiding Obama’s so well. I’m sure there are some stories there. With that said, who cares. It’s all about the peoples business, not the bedroom.
