Are We Headed Toward the Constitution or the Communist Manifesto? This Breakdown Tells You

During his Thursday morning radio broadcast, Glenn Beck asked if America, on its current trajectory, is headed toward the values and principles of the Constitution, or rather, those of the Communist Manifesto.

To glean greater insight, The Blaze expanded on each of the Manifesto’s 10 planks and juxtaposed them with modern day American society. The picture revealed, while perhaps not shocking, is unsettling to say the least.

The Communist Manifesto

10 Tenets of The Communist Manifesto Manifested in American LifeConsidered the playbook, the framework, the founding document of Communism, it is argued that no other political volume has altered the course of history more than Karl Marx and Friedrich Engel’s tiny yet effective blueprint for the proletariat.

Commissioned by the Communist League, Marx and Engels laid out their analysis of capitalism and class struggle while supposedly offering economic and socio-political “solutions” rooted in what they called science. While every instance of Communism attempted around the globe has since failed abysmally and without exception, proponents still cry that Marx’s inviolable political and economic theories were simply “improperly executed” and thus, if true to the Manifesto, Marxism is, in itself, “perfect.” A little known fact, however, is that these champions’ premise is based on a flawed narrative, as Karl Marx in fact falsified much of the data he used to support his untenable political and economic system. Of Marx’s flagrant disregard for the facts, British philosopher Anthony Flew wrote:

…the first and only volume of Das Kapital to be published in the lifetime of Marx was, in his own words, to demonstrate that “In proportion as capital accumulates, the lot of the labourer must grow worse. Accumulation of wealth at one pole is at the same time accumulation of misery, agony of toil, slavery, ignorance, brutality, mental degradation at the opposite pole.” But by 1867, when that volume was first published, Marx had known for 15 or more years that this thesis was false.

Flew continued that Marx’s response was “merely to suppress the falsifying data.” This was manifested in the first edition of Das Kapital where “various available British statistics—about the reliability of which there was no question—were given up to 1865 or 1866, whereas those for the movement of wages stop at 1850.” In Kapital’s second edition, however, according to Flew, all subsequent runs were “brought up to date, while that of wage movements still stops at 1850.”

While clearly not a “man of science,” nor one who held facts in high regard, generations of leftists take the words of Karl Marx as absolute truth, and indeed, the gospel. Below are the tenets they seek to live by, as mapped out in his “magnum opus.”

1. Abolition of private property

The first plank of Communism is the abolishment of private property. America is certainly here in terms of eminent domain, where the state has the ability to expropriate private property “for the public good.” Per the Fifth Amendment, the government must fairly compensate a citizen in return, but lines tend to blur when the government is given the authority to assess what is “fair and just” in the first place. Regardless of whether the final sum is one agreeable to the private citizen, the property will still be confiscated with or without the owner’s consent.

Typically, land or property acquired through eminent domain is used to house public works that are10 Tenets of The Communist Manifesto Manifested in American Life intended to benefit the community such as public utilities, freeways, libraries and schools. It is a slippery slope, however.  After the Supreme Court’s ruling in Kelo v. City of New London, the scope of eminent domain was expanded outside its traditional boundaries to include revitalizing “depressed areas.” In other words, in the spirit of gentrification or regeneration, a citizen’s private property can be seized by the government to build a sports complex, or even a shopping mall if the state deems it a public good.

Another example of government encroachment on citizens’ private property is evident in the far-reach of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSE) that buy mortgages on the secondary market.  If a citizen’s mortgage is held by one of these government-backed giants, Uncle Sam is entirely “too close to home.”

Interconnected is property tax. Simply, if one is subject to property tax, then the land or property being taxed doesn’t actually belong to the “owner.” Fall behind on these payments and the government will  seize a citizen’s home, business or land, regardless of whether his or her mortgage is paid in full.

10 Tenets of The Communist Manifesto Manifested in American LifeHomes are not the only area subject to government encroachment, however. In fact, Uncle Sam owns roughly 650 million acres of land across the 50 states — with its highest ownership stake (85%) in Nevada.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) also has the authority to seize private property during “emergency” situations.

2. Heavy progressive income tax

This particular tenet needs no introduction, nor example. America now holds the world record for highest corporate tax rate, surpassing even Japan. This is a crucial plank of the Manifesto, as it ensures that nary a high income earner will remain standing and everyone may subsist in equal mediocrity or (worse).

Ironically, Communists bang on incessantly about “equality” when in fact a flat-tax is arguably the fairest system of all and one that could still, by design, ensure Marx’s ultimate goal of “from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.” If a 10% flat tax were implemented, then 10% of a $5,000 income would amount to far less than 10% of a $500,000 income. Thus, those who make more money, still pay more. Alas, that is certainly not the way Marx would have portrayed it. Nor is it the way the current administration seems to see it given the president’s renewed push to instate ”The Buffett Rule,” which seeks to raise the income tax rate on high income earners — including small business owners — even higher than it is now.

Regardless, whether one is subject to a flat or a progressive tax system, a foreboding and omnipotent force looms dangerously over the American ether: The IRS. Fail to pay your “fair share,” and you will soon learn of the government’s ultimate power — to freeze your bank accounts, seize your property, penalize and, in some instances even imprison you. There is perhaps no greater example of a Marxist economic policy in action than this.

3. Abolition to all rights of inheritance

One of the many stark contradictions found in the Manifesto is outlined in this particular pillar. What was most ironic about Marx’s desire to abolish inheritance was that, if he had his way, citizens would not own anything of value to bequeath upon death in the first place. Nonetheless, his odd and arguably redundant tenet has worked its way into the American landscape via the estate tax. And its very alias, the “death tax,”  should alone raise eyebrows, if not outright suspicion of government’s dubious motives.

First, many argue the estate tax is unconstitutional because it creates a direct tax that is not disbursed to the states for collection. But the more obvious discrepancy is that it allows the government to tax individuals twice, as the items that find their way into one’s estate — be they a car, house, land, jewelry or other valuable possessions — have already been subject to either sales or property tax once before. The Federal government’s carte blanche to double-dip is spurred further by Democrats’ renewed push to resurrect and expand what the Wall Street Journal dubs President Obama’s “night of living death tax.”

With the staggering rate applied to estates worth over $5 million, citizens may soon wonder why it is worth the bother to spend a lifetime building a personal or business empire to pass down to their children and grandchildren at all. By the second generation, there would be nothing left.

4. Confiscation of property of all emigrants & rebels

This Manifesto pillar is perhaps best laid out in the recent string of government crackdowns on “homegrown militias.” Those who have paid careful attention to Janet Napolitano know that one of Homeland Security’s preoccupations of late has been the “rise” of “homegrown militias.” With this in mind, the department is likely honing in on anyone considered an “opposition group,” be they merely survivalists or those with a more militant bent.

Some may recall the Michigan militia, or ”Hutaree,” as they are known — a group of anti-government “rebels” who were allegedly engaged in preparations for a potential future clash with federal agencies. The defendants were accused of conspiring to overthrow the U.S. government, a planned assassination of a police officer, and an ambush of that officer’s funeral with explosives in order to incite an uprising against the Federal government. While the anticipated attack never actually occurred, this did not stop the Feds, under the blessing of Attorney General Eric Holder, from raiding the Hutaree’s various outposts, confiscating its members’ arms and waging an all-out legal battle against the group.

At the end of March, 2012, presiding U.S. District Judge Victoria Roberts dismissed the most serious of the charges against the Hutaree, leveling a staggering blow to the Fed. She said the members’ hatred of government did not amount to a conspiracy to overthrow it.

It remains unclear whether the Hutaree were indeed poised to be the aggressors of a violent assault or if they were simply anti-big-government, “good ol’ boy“ survivalists preparing to ”defend themselves” against a perceived government threat. But the Federal agencies’ indictment of the group perhaps reveals how government will deal with homegrown “threats” — be they real or perceived — moving forward.

Another key element, and one that warrants mention due to its relevance in modern day America, is10 Tenets of The Communist Manifesto Manifested in American Life the confiscation of citizens’ weapons. Those who have felt their Second Amendment rights slowly whittle away understand that disarming the public is a crucial step vital to ensuring the state’s grip over its citizenry.  In fact, one of the first tasks performed by the then-fledgling Soviet state was the confiscation of citizens’ private arms — even hunting rifles. By stripping people of the ability to defend themselves, the authoritarian state could reign over the vulnerable Russian populace. Many Americans consider this a highly plausible reality given increasingly stringent gun laws and regulations spread across all 50-states.

It should also be noted that IRS liens, levies and seizures are all means by which the Federal government can confiscate a “rebel” entity’s assets — one instance being the recent IRS “shakedown” of Tea Party members.  And, in terms of “emigrants,” taxing the off-shore income and assets of American citizens, or causing Americans to give up their U.S. citizenship and flee to foreign lands to avoid abusive U.S. taxes, is yet another means by which the Fed’s confiscatory, overreaching tentacles are changing the American landscape.  Statistics point out a rising trend…

5. Centralization and monopolization of credit by means of a national bank

10 Tenets of The Communist Manifesto Manifested in American LifeCreated by Congress in 1913, the Federal Reserve is, for all intents and purposes, America‘s national bank charged with setting the monetary policy that controls the nation’s economic stability. The Federal Reserve holds the power to guide interest rates, thus controlling inflation. The effects of this agency’s actions are felt in measurable ways by everyday Americans, every day. From the interest rate accrued to mortgages and other lines of credit to determining the value of one’s home, it is both the seen and unforeseen reach of this institution that sets the tone for Americans’ financial security.

On the grander scale, the Federal Reserve has the more sinister power of devaluing U.S. currency, and thus the value of goods, services and property, via “quantitative easing,” or, as it is affectionately dubbed, printing money.

“One of the fundamental problems with the U.S. economy right now is the Federal Reserve thinks the answer to all our economic problems is printing money,” said the Wall Street Journal’s Stephen Moore. “We haven’t created new jobs from all of this printing of money, but what we have produced is inflation in prices.”

6. Centralized control of communication & transportation

a) Transportation

The ways in which the Federal government controls America’s communication and transportation systems are almost too vast to count, but a few shining examples stand out. In terms of transportation, the Interstate Highway System, the Federal Aviation Authority and the Department of Transportation are of course the most obvious government bureaucracies controlling the country’s means of transport. Less-obvious, perhaps, is Amtrak, a government owned corporation and essentially the only passenger rail carrier in the country. Indeed the railroad industry’s metamorphosis from a private enterprise to a nationalized entity perhaps tells the greatest tale of the insidious ways in which the Federal government appropriates what it wants, when it wants.

In the first half of the 20th century, the U.S. rail industry enjoyed what many called it’s “Golden Age.” But the once flourishing U.S. rail industry’s day in the sun was eclipsed when the Fed introduced a “rate-10 Tenets of The Communist Manifesto Manifested in American Lifesetting” scheme by which rail carriers were forced to adopt. The result was a decrease in profits, decrease in rail system growth, decrease in investments and an increase in labor costs. Not surprisingly, this had the reverse effect than that intended by the Fed when it first set rail carrier rates. After World War II the industry was in steady decline and by the 1960s service had degenerated to such a degree that the U.S. government formed Amtrak. The obvious lesson here is that if government can destroy an industry to such a degree that that industry’s only means of survival moving forward is through nationalization, there is no reason to think it couldn’t just as easily happen to a commercial air carrier, for example, or any other privately held mode of transportation.

As mentioned above, air traffic, ground traffic and maritime traffic via the nation’s port authorities are all overseen and subject to take-over by the government should FEMA deem a state of emergency.

b) Communication

Presently, when it comes to communication, conservatives argue that nothing screams of Marxism louder than the Federal Communications Commission and Obama’s appointment of its “Chief Diversity Officer,” Frank Lloyd.

10 Tenets of The Communist Manifesto Manifested in American LifeOne of the administration’s many “czars,” Lloyd was a senior fellow at the progressive think tank, Center for American Progress, where he authored a June 2007 report titled, ”The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio.” The content may point to Lloyd’s intentions when it comes to silencing voices of opposition, and many conservatives believe that Obama’s “Diversity Czar” intends to revive the Fairness Doctrine.

For those unfamiliar, the Fairness Doctrine, adopted in 1949, obligated broadcasters to provide opposing points of view on issues of national importance regardless of actual market demand for the content. Media Research Center’s Setton Motley said, if reinstated, caps would be placed on local and national ownership of commercial radio stations; local accountability over licensing would be ensured; and those not in compliance would be subject to paying a fee to support public broadcasting. As it stands, the FCC already levies heavy regulations on broadcasters and monitors all communication aired across radio and television waves.

Looking forward, another impending threat can be found in the current struggle for control over the Internet. Currently, the World Wide Web is controlled by the U.S. government via the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and its subsidiary, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). Both are under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

There has been a growing push, however, for America to relinquish its control in the name of a world “without borders,“ or ”one world government.” Countries like China and Russia, in particular, have vied for control, doggedly pursuing the United Nations for assistance in breaking the U.S. stronghold.

If the U.N.’s International Telecommunication Union (ITU), along with its nearly 200 member state allies were to take control of the levers, cyber security and data privacy would be subject to international control.

While even in the land of the free no information received or transmitted over the Internet escapes the prying eyes of Big Brother, it goes without saying America’s First Amendment rights still ensure a far more liberated information superhighway than the one that would exist under the reins of a dubious global body formed by the U.N. and led by China and Russia. Meanwhile, the entire global economy hangs in the balance.

7. Government ownership of factories

In terms of government owned factories, few could ever forget “Government Motors.” After nearly $53 billion in bailout funds over the course of two administrations, the U.S. government now owns a controlling stake in GM, raising the obvious question of how government can fairly regulate its own business.  While GM asked the government to intervene, and while Amtrak was instead a victim of a federally-engineered scheme, both are examples of how government assumes control of private enterprise. Typically, it is the American taxpayer who fails to reap the dividends and becomes the victim of these machinations.

8. Equal liability of all to labor

The first thought which springs to mind when reading the Manifesto’s tenet on equal labor is the overriding presence of labor unions within the U.S. workforce. While labor unions in and of themselves are not nationalized organizing bodies, they have enjoyed a long and harmonious relationship with government, particularly through the progressive policies and lawmakers that prop up their various agendas. In fact, there may be no brighter an illustration of socialism manifested than the collective organizing body of America’s labor unions. Although subject to regulation and oversight by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), unions still overwhelmingly support Democratic candidates, thus a cycle of quid pro quo is perpetuated.

Another example of government control in the workplace emerges via the Labor Department’s Affirmative Action policies. By mandating that employers meet a staff-quota comprising women, minorities and people with disabilities, private business is being forced to relinquish its ability to hire on the basis of merit, thus failing to deliver excellence and best practices. While many women, minorities and those with disabilities do indeed possess the skill sets needed to succeed in a specific job, it should, critics argue, be left to private enterprise to determine which candidate is best suited for the task at hand.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), a government owned corporation, has been hailed a prime10 Tenets of The Communist Manifesto Manifested in American Life example of true socialism in America. It is the country’s largest public power company, with a generating capacity of 31,658 megawatts. Its 17,000 miles of transmission lines deliver power through 158 locally owned distributors to 8.5 million residents of the Tennessee Valley. While even Republicans, for the most part, consider TVA to be a success, its case is considered unique in that the government model has never been able to be successfully duplicated along any other State waterway.

Agricultural subsidies are another prime example of this Manifesto plank in motion. An extensive analysis conducted by the CATO Institute determined that, when it comes to corporate welfare no one has reaped a greater windfall, or hurt taxpayers more than the “supermarket to the world,” Archer Daniels. An excerpt from the report reads:

ADM and its chairman Dwayne Andreas have lavishly fertilized both political parties with millions of dollars in handouts and in return have reaped billion-dollar windfalls from taxpayers and consumers. Thanks to federal protection of the domestic sugar industry, ethanol subsidies, subsidized grain exports, and various other programs, ADM has cost the American economy billions of dollars since 1980 and has indirectly cost Americans tens of billions of dollars in higher prices and higher taxes over that same period. At least 43 percent of ADM’s annual profits are from products heavily subsidized or protected by the American government. Moreover, every $1 of profits earned by ADM’s corn sweetener operation costs consumers $10, and every $1 of profits earned by its ethanol operation costs taxpayers $30

Aside from being incongruent with the free market, the nation’s agricultural subsidies cost tax payers tens of billions of dollars each year and typically only benefit larger farming outfits.

On the flip side, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is placing greater and greater restrictions on business in the form of cap and trade and in mandating the purchase of carbon credits.

10. Free education for all children in government controlled schools

What can be said of America’s beleaguered public education system could fill volumes, yet one needn’t look far to pluck one or two prime examples as proof that there are indeed no “free lunches.”

The Blaze recently uncovered a series of reports revealing what happens when a bureaucrat decides that the school district, along with its unionized faculty members, know better about a child’s needs than his or her parents do. Whether the control comes via mandating  a child’s school lunch box contents, or altering the Pledge of Allegiance to omit the phrase “one nation under God,” or subjecting students to inadequate instruction from a teacher solely on the basis of that teacher’s tenure – a teacher who cannot be fired or replaced — the public school system is, arguably, setting up generations for failure.

Free medicine…the 11th tenet?

10 Tenets of The Communist Manifesto Manifested in American LifeWhile not addressed specifically in the 10 tenets of the Communist Manifesto, national health care is perhaps — at least in modern day America — “the key to the empire.” It is why the fate of Obamacare is of utmost importance to the left. If passed, it sets precedent by establishing the “new normal” in government authority over private citizens. Legal experts and pundits alike have consistently argued the unconstitutionality of the health care bill, underscoring its significance as a “gateway” to other forms of government intrusion.

The bill’s unconstitutionality is irrelevant to those who, while claiming to champion the founding document, appear to be working to dismantle it.

Some balk at the use of the word “Communism,” dismissing its invocation as hyperbole. Yet when dissecting actual policies, laws, regulations and bureaucratic government approaches which Americans are increasingly subjected to, and weighing them against the 10  progressive “rules to live by,” the facts scream loudly and clearly in the face of those who deny the ever-creeping onset of Socialism.  Marx’s Communist “utopia” is only one evolutionary stage away from reality.

[Editors Note: These are but a few examples of how Manifesto tenets are reflected in modern American life and is of course, not a complete list.]

Sorry, wrong. Flat tax implementation is widely agreed-upon as being disproportionately burdensome on the poor. $500 out of $5,000 would hurt someone far more than $50,000 our of $500,000. Marginal utility to spend, etc., etc.

The much-lauded social safety net should alleviate your fear of perceived inequality. The person paying $500.00 will get his money back… along with a ‘fair’ share of the other person’s $50,000.00. Hooray. The system works.

      2. Heavy progressive income tax

This particular tenet needs no introduction, nor example. America now holds the world record for highest corporate tax rate, surpassing even Japan.

Nice try tying that into the argument over tax rates for the rich, that have reached a 40 year low (and, dang, still no jobs). The United States of America already a greater income inequality than amost any other industrialized Democracy. The rich are getting richer, the middle class is shrinking and the poor are getting poorer and more numerous. Republican policies, if enacted, are designed to further elevate the richest (even more tax breaks), and further drive the middle class into poverty. Those policies reduce or eliminate every program that helps the poor bring themselves up (hardly Communist policies) in order to offset tax breaks for the richest.

No, sorry, there’s no Communism in the US. Quite the opposite. Already 400 families own half of the wealth in America. Soon, if things continue, they’ll own 75% of America. That’s not Communism, that’s the opposite. And you and I are getting relatively poorer, getting a smaller and smaller peice of the American pie as are almost all Americans. You may think that’s good…

      16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, 1913

      Social Security Act of 1936

Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933

      State “income” taxes

We’re all “paying our fair share”.

@jzs The reason the middle class is dying is because the rich elite are the same ones that have their representatives in every darn Government agency and bureaucracy, which Government entities are based on the Marxist notion of centrally controlling all forms of industry. As the Government gets bigger, and gains more powers, the Middle Class dies. The FDA is run by former pharmaceutical and drug company employees. Most of our school boards are run by former Text Book publishing and furniture businesses employees. In fact, what we have now, is exactly what most Communist countries have, an uber rich elite and very poor class, NO MIDDLE CLASS.

Protectionism exists on both sides of the ideological sprectrum and indicates one of the ugliest truths about our republic: Allowing career politicians has turned influence peddling into an industry in this country. As guilty as any “old” money people may be of taking advantage of this system (and they ain’t all on team R, baby), so to go the unions, the environmentalists, and any other advocacy group you wanna shake a stick at. It’s no secret: Money is power in U.S. politics.
What’s the answer. SOME people get to influence policy and politicians, but not others? No. That doesn’t seem quite right. What about term limits? Now there’s a start.
Listen, I think there are some valid arguments to be made about the mega rich and the protections afforded to them. R and D alike have shown us who is too big to fail. But that game can’t be played forever. And this argument has more than one facet: At what point do we also get serious about taking spending under control? Who wants to trust the U.S. Congress to do that? Remember, this is an entity that can vote itself its own pay raises. That might let you know have far you can trust that collective.
There’s a dark voice in me that whispers, “Let it all fall apart. It’s not worth saving.” But I sure as hell don’t want my children to experience the French Revolution a la modern U.S.A. But if there must be blood, let it be the blood of those who were too greedy & stupid to know better. Hubris ~ blindness.

@jzs. Your comments demonstrate and ignorance of basic economics and bumper sticker mentality. What Im about to say doesnt fit nicely on a bumper: According to IRS statistics, between 1996-2005, 91% of income earners in the lowest quintile increased to the 4th and 5th highest quintiles of income. Additionally, there was an actual decrease in the number of people in the top 1% income category. The mistake people make when making the statement “the rich get richer….” is that their analysis is based on cross sectional income demographics, rather than actual individuals within the system. When you look at the IRS stats that follow individuals, the trend is clear. Lower income people increase their income and standard of living over time. Which brings me to my next point. Would you argue that the standard of living of the middle class is lower than it was 10, 20, 30, years ago? As just one example, consider that in the 1950s very few middle class families own more than one television. Now, the vast majority of people living below the poverty line own one or more television. Clearly, then, there has been an increase in standard of living. Especially compared to those in other countries. CNN ran a story a few months ago demonstrating that those living below the poverty line in the U.S. still have a standard of living greater than 2/3 of the world’s population, even the middle class in Europe.

I think that a consumption tax (called the FairTax) at the consumer level only, makes more sense (this is NOT a European-like VAT tax, which is levied at every level of a product’s value creation). The FairTax tax would capture money from many who have illegally avoided taxes in the past: the huge underground economy that does not pay any taxes, the millions of illegal aliens working who do not pay taxes, and the drug dealers, gangsters, hookers, etc., who do not contribute to our tax system. The rich do not pay their fair share of taxes due to their trusts.

The FairTax is a national sales tax that treats every person equally and allows American businesses to thrive, while generating the same tax revenue as the current 3.8 million word tax code. Under the FairTax, every person living in the United States pays a 23% national sales tax on purchases of new goods and services. This rate is equal to the lowest current income tax bracket (15%) combined with employee payroll taxes (7.65%), both of which will be eliminated.

The FairTax provides a progressive program called a prebate. This gives every legal resident household an “advance refund” at the beginning of each month so that purchases made up to the poverty level are tax-free. The prebate prevents an unfair burden on low-income families.

And with the FairTax, the IRS would be eliminated.

A comprehensive look at the FairTax can be found at http://www.fairtax.org

So, would it be fair then if the poor are exempted from paying taxes? But then the lower middle class would be disproportionately burdened. So let’s exempt them too. But then the middle class would be disproportionately burdened. I get it now. Let’s tax only the rich! Doesn’t it feel good that no group would be disproportionately burdened anymore. And doesn’t it feel even better that with the vast majority of voters no longer burdened with paying taxes, the government can now spend all it wants on things that matter the most like saving the (insert plant or animal here), educating children on the contributions of those in the LGBT community and minorities other than Asians, and social welfare (so those who do not pay taxes are reminded who they should vote for and understand why it is necessary for hardworking politicians to take so many vacations paid for by the rich taxpayers).

She is right to bring attention to the abnormalities in the Obama story. As one of the few people willing to speak out about the young Obama, I can confirm he was a Marxist when I met him in 1980.

@JZS An oligarchy is what you say is happening in this country? I could see that with the Bush’s, Clinton’s, Rockefellers, etc. But I disagree that republican policy alone is making the middle class smaller. Its the policies of both parties that are assisting the rich to get richer. MF Global comes to mind when I think of a democrat ripping off the American people and the gov’t allowing it.

I suppose that in a since some would look at it as being disproportionately difficult on the poor, given that even 10% of someone’s income would be hard to pay if one were below the poverty level. Perhaps a more fair solution would be to exempt the first $35,000-50,000 of EVERYONE’S income, whether rich or poor. This way those from low to moderate means could get a little break, while at the same time, even the rich would get the same exemption of the first 35-50k of their income, so no one would be able to say they were treated unequally. Yes a flat tax is far more fair than the convoluted, pretzel twisted tax code we have now, and that benefits no one other than tax lawyers and government agents. I don’t think anyone should ever have to pay any more than 10% of their income in taxes. If they can’t run the government on that, then they need to cut spending until they can. That’s what private citizens must do, or they end up homeless and hungry.

You assume that the flat tax could not simply exclude any individual who made less than $20,000 more than the poverty line from paying any tax.(Still most likely brining in more revenue.) Also, the Fair Tax eliminates the taxes on earnings and instead taxes on consumption and it too covers all Americans cost of basic necessities before collecting any tax. The idea that we need to keep this overly complicated, oft exploited Progressive Income tax system is completely insane and paints one quickly as favoring Marxist ideals.

The Progressive Income tax is after all something Marx would propose and be proud of. This tax system is designed to be exploited to the benefit of Politicians be it for profit or attempting to destroy our government and crony capitalist companies like GE, ADM, etc..

It is time to end this monstrosity of a tax system that does nothing but hold back our economy and instead place a simple tax system in place like the Fair Tax, which would usher in a new Golden Age in America as it set loose all of our economy from these failed central planners.

If a person takes a portion of your income without your consent, it’s theft. If the govt. does it, it’s not theft? Wake the hell up. Income tax is theft. We need to demand it to stop. And stop trying to justify it to pay for social services. There are other ways.

We’re moving towards communism, eh? What is great about this list is so many of these examples of communists acts can be traced back to the Constitutional period and the nineteenth century!

      1) Eminent Domain
The article says it directly–it’s in the Constitution already! In terms of the government ownership of land, I’d like to see how Beck feels about that great government land-grab, The Louisiana Purchase! Not to mention the purchase of Alaska!

      2) Progressive Tax
“Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is
to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the
higher portions of property in geometrical progression as they
      rise.” — Thomas Jefferson, 1785

      4) Confiscation of rebel/emigrant property
This has been a legal issue since the Revolutionary War, when the national and state governments made a grab for the property of loyalists who fled to England. Wow. I guess those guys were all communists!
But really, the Michigan Militia? Feel free to look at how the government handled Shays’ Rebellion and the Whiskey Rebellion.

      5) National Bank
This is an easy one. A National Bank was established by Hamilton during Washington’s presidency. I guess that would make one of the foremost founders of American capitalism a communist!

      To be continued….

“All the perplexities, confusions, and distresses in America arise, not from defects in the Constitution or confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, as much as from downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit, and circulation.” – John Quincy Adams

“History records that the money changers have used every form of abuse, intrigue, deceit, and violent means possible to maintain their control over governments by controlling money and its issuance.” – James Madison

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power of money should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs.” – Thomas Jefferson

“The one aim of these financiers is world control by the creation of inextinguishable debts.” – Henry Ford

“The bold effort the Second National Bank of the U.S. had made to control government and the distress it has wantonly produced are but premonitions of the fate that awaits the American people should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it.” – Andrew Jackson

I am an enemy to all banks discounting bills or notes for anything but coin. If the American people allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” – Thomas Jefferson

“The eyes of our citizens are not sufficiently open to the true cause of our distress. They ascribe them to everything but their true cause, the banking system; a system which if it could do good in any form is yet so certain of leading to abuse as to be utterly incompatible with the public safety and prosperity. The Central Bank is an institution of the most deadly hostility existing against the principles and form of our Constitution.” – Thomas Jefferson

“You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the Eternal God, I will rout you out. If the American people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system, there would be a revolution before morning.” – Andrew Jackson

For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live. Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth. There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards. Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards….

And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words. Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them…

I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury. Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them. Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.

Many of these Union Thugs could be off duty police and government workers. Posting photos in the internet may uncover conspiracy. At TEA rallies and meetings photo or video anyone who becomes disruptive or violent. If anyone becomes violent TEA should treat them as if they were being violent on an airplane. Sit on them until police arrive. Cover each other’s back. This is not a game.

      Continued from Natural News.com story:

      8. Restrict the press. Already done. The U.S. government, in fact, essentially runs the mainstream media today. White House announcements are simply printed as “fact” with zero journalism and zero fact checking taking place.

      9. Redefine dissent as treason. This is already happening with figures like Ted Nugent who was recently “visited” by the Secret Service after his anti-Obama rant. All throughout government speeches today, the criminals at the very top proclaim that anyone who questions government is “anti-American” and might be involved in domestic terrorism. The FBI even warns that people who “stockpile food” might be terrorists! (Even though the government itself stockpiles massive quantities of food, guns, ammunition, communications gear, medical supplies and more…)

      10. Subvert the rule of law. Already done. Law has been complete abandoned by the ATF, DEA, FDA, USDA and every other federal agency you can think of. The Attorney General Eric Holder actively plots ways to destroy the Bill of Rights, and the government stages false flag terror attacks to undermine constitutional protections.

Who is it that truly benefits from bringing down the “… shining light on the hill”? The nation that gives so freely to any other nation in world when in need? Willing to stand in the breech against any advancement (in the past and would do so in the future if we were to remain strong) of evil in the world (regardless of our “warts” the opposition points to that we already acknowledge)? Let us give a nod to Saul Alinski’s idol. “Hope you guess [his] name”. This has been underway for a long time and for a purpose. In order for the final chapter in self-governance to conclude, and for us to understand perfectly our need to be reliant on, and humble before the Lord by accepting His perfect authority, the weakening of the U.S. must come about.

Many still think this can be delayed. If “our side” wins an election and we re-establish the founding principles of this Nation, the world and human endeavors as it stands now will continue. This is not so. Many more outright refuse to acknowledge the epoch that we live in. What was written in the Book of Truth must come about. That time is now. That which was written in Daniel and Revelations is coming to pass presently. All one needs to do is repent, read, fast and pray, then earnestly listen and one will understand. Why do we fear this? Why do we wish to reject it? Why do we cling to imperfect human governance? When the Lord Jesus Christ comes to receive His Throne on Earth everything will be perfected and Heaven and Earth will be united as one. Fast and pray for discernment, and go to the site http://www.thewarningsecondcoming.com/ .  This site is meant for all to read for all are God’s children.

Mil-Dot – your post shows so much about you – your naive, you don’t read, you watch the New History Channel, and you drink the Socialist, Marxist, Communist Tea. Remember to be a good Marxist and one that wants to survive in the years to come – you need to get off Welfare and watch out for the other Marxist/Communist that will turn on you in a heart beat!

Your assignment – is to research the Columbia Professor that is producing the content your drinking on the New History Channel.

This Professor is a Pulitzer Prize winner – who wrote about Lincoln sleeping with men, Jefferson owning 130 slave by the time he was 13, and Ben Franklin was a Serial Killer. You Mil-Dot are an idiot – if you believe this flaming Marxist! I guess Mil-Dot your also going to tell us Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Prices.

The people on the Blaze are not buying you propaganda – we are too busy tying to protect idiots like you from turning this Country into something that everyone will regret – even you Mil-Bot!

Oh – the Professor that you idolize, is the same man that headed up the campaign that promoted American is a forgiving Country after Clinton broke his covenant with his Wife and America – with that Blue dress stunt in the Oval Office. And Good People sold their Soles and support Clinton!

I just hope the cleaning crew gave the WH a good scrubbing after the Clinton’s left.

It’s a well-known fact the only successful, working example of collectivism to date is the smurfs.
On a more serious note, this scenario has played out time and again thru history, empire after empire. As govt. expands & meddles in more and more affairs, it tends to evolve into an entity insistent on protecting itself & expanding its own powers. That means the thralls gotta know their place. The outcome of the U.S. Civil War firmly established the federal govt. as the be all, end all power to which all citizens & states would be subject to. You can cheerlead for Lincoln all you want, but the man was a straight up authoritarian who dismissed rights without so much as a “by your leave.” The lie that Lincoln was a friend & champion to the enslaved is soothing revisionist history. Slavery was political tool to be used by Lincoln. And what did Lincoln get for his victory asserting the all-powerful federal govt.? Martyrdom & a really good revisionist makeover. You can rant & rave about how great a man Lincoln was, but he birthed big govt. in this country.
It’s at this point in history that influence peddling & govt. interventionism exploded. Yeah, the govt. effectively forever crippled rail. Because established rail owners wanted protectionism & politicians who wanted money happily obliged. Careful what you wish for.
This story is about power, not any particular ideology. Govt. wants more of it, regardless of who is at the reins. Go figure.

I am in complete agreement. Lincoln was not a great man. He was a psychopath and a tyrant. A big federal govt goon. The only people that think he was a hero are the “protected classes” of folks who look to the govt to solve all of their problems. You know, like welfare, affirmative action, food stamps-You know, those leaches. We could clean up this country in no time and clear out all the commies and deadbeats in a hurry, but the govt goons will swoop in and side with them against the real patriots. They fail to realize that if you keep letting their numbers increase by protecting them they eventually take over everything, like termites, including the govt. And we all know what they do to “former” govt officials when they get ahold of them. Good luck with that.

I received this from Hillsdale College…
      Please take the course

      Dear banjarmon,

Thank you for enrolling in Hillsdale College’s “Constitution 101” online course. I hope you’re enjoying it and that you find it beneficial.

As you probably know, next week is the final week of “Constitution 101,” and I’ll be lecturing on the topic, “The Recovery of the Constitution.”

I’m proud to report that we have over 200,000 citizens signed up for “Constitution 101” – but wouldn’t it be great if even more Americans were studying the Constitution during this important year for our country?

That’s why I’m writing to ask if you might take a few minutes to share Hillsdale’s free “Constitution 101” online course with five friends?

If you, along with each of your 200,000 “classmates,” share this free online course with five friends, we could have over 1 million people studying the Constitution. And remember, the lectures are archived, so newly registered students can take the course from the beginning.

Please take a few minutes to help us with this important work. Your help will make all the difference.

      Thank you so much.

      Dr. Larry Arnn
      President
      Hillsdale College

PS: So much is at stake this year, and I think Hillsdale’s education on the Constitution comes not a moment too soon. Can we count on your help?

Sounds like Libertarian BS to me whether you are or not. Same crap Ron Paul and his minnions try to pass off regarding Lincoln.

Fortunately, Lincoln has left us hundreds of pages of his writings and speeches. He personally saw slavery as a form of tyranny and condemned it over and over again. He believed it was an unequivocal moral evil.

The turning point in Lincoln’s life was the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854, which allowed slavery to spread into the territories. Upon its passage Lincoln said, “This covert zeal for the spread of slavery, I cannot but hate. I hate it for the monstrous injustice of slavery itself.”

Lincoln repeatedly made references to the Declaration of Independence and its principle, that “All men are created equal”. This equality clause was a central focus of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, which were reprinted as a best seller in 1859.

That same year Lincoln said “The Republican principle — the unalterable principle, never to be lost sight of… is that slavery is wrong.” Near the end of his life, Lincoln was in favor of giving blacks full voting rights.

Lincoln was a product of the 19th century and he made statements which did not reflect perfect treatment in all social situations. However, to claim those statements negate his work for racial justice is a terrible misrepresentation of Lincoln’s struggle.

What was the Civil War really about? It was about an Economy. The North was industrialize and running under Capitalism, and paid Wages. The South was of Plantations trading with England under the Merchantile System, and used Slaves. The North wanted the Southern Trade.

Once the War begins… there is No North/South Line… rather people all over on one side of the other… which forces Lincoln to use troops in Northern Cities and suspend some Rights. A Draft is imposed, unless you are Rich and buy out, and it causes Riots that must be Crushed. So, step by step, Lincoln becomes a Dictator.
In the South, they write all New Laws… and Davis becomes their Dictator.

This article leads one to believe the Manifesto was first published in “Das Kapital”. It was in fact published in 1848 and made its way to America, from Marx’s own hand, by a man named Joseph Wedemeyer. Wedemeyer carried a letter of recommendation from Marx on his behalf to Charles A. Dana, who helped Wedemeyer get established. Dana was also instrumental in getting his fellow homegrown socialist/abolitionist, Stepen Pearl Andrews, to print the “Manifesto” for distrubtion USA.

Why the name dropping? Wedemeyer winds up as a commissioned officer in Lincoln’s army. Dana becomes Lincoln’s assistant Secretary of War. Andrews is typical of the abolishonist movement; most were homegrown utopian socialists with a copy of the Manifesto in their vest pocket.

Lincoln’s government was so rife with Socialist and Communist revolutionaries, in both the military and administration, that Obama’s percentage of the same pales in comparison. Not only did he surround himself with the very, foreign born, socialist revolutionaries of 1848 Europe – its hard to find a top level cabinet member that isn’t associated with homegrown communist movements akin to Brook Farm, Owenites, Fourier diciples, Chartists – etc ad nauseum.

Lincoln himself was an unrepentant mercantilist Whig. What he saw in these people was a common goal – centralization of the government for the sole purpose of the government alone.

Glenn Beck said, “these people will work together…” Correct.

Is the publication date of “Das Kapital” significant? Yes, it certainly is.

Just as the publication of the “Manifesto” in 1848 was significant to the “Spring of Nations” and its exiled revolutionaries’ struggle to accomplish in America what they did not in Europe. So, “Das Kapital” arrived on the scene to stir up Europe anew in the light of the American cosolidation of power at the top. Marxism cannot exist without an unquestionable central authority, and is what the 1848 revolutions first sought to establish.

Most historians convieniently forget that immediately after Lincoln’s triumph – Germany erupted in a Civil War of unification in 1866. Immediately following our own “unpleasantness”, wars of unification broke out all over europe anew. The Socialists had learned a valuable lesson in the US – defer your main goal and establish its vital framework first – Central Authority.

German “Union” in 1866, Marx’s opus “Das Kapital” in 1867. Not coincidental.

Lincoln’s real legacy is he opened the door to two hells. One, communism – that really doesn’t need any explanation except he opened it for the entire globe. Two, he established his own mercantilist cause as a function of government, which is/was the crony capitalism that ironicly fuels socialist revolution. Obamaite communists love Lincoln for hell #1. RINOS love Lincoln for hell #2. Such explains why our Government LOVES Lincoln as it does – and destroys whomever questions his diety.

Voting for Paul is like giving a vote to Obama. If Ron Paul was truly a patriot, he would recognize that he can not win and endorse Romney…this is the only way to save the Republic. I pray for this. Say what you will about Romney but when given a choice of someone who might respect Congress‘s authority and someone who clearly won’t….that’s no choice at all. Paul can continue to be a voice as will all the conservative Congressmen we WILL elect in November. Once that’s done Romney will fall into line. Romney might not be the most conservative candidate but he’s no Obama either. Obama would continue what he’s doing even if both the House and Senate were opposed. Romney has yet to do anything that would make me suspect him to do the same.

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

See, it doesn’t say anything about respecting congress, just defending the Constitution. Romney clearly won‘t do that as he’s stated his support for crapping on the Bill of Rights.

Any any way you slice it, the Progressives have won the White House.

The community is like a Jim Jones commune and I read years ago that many of the followers have placed their lives & what other wealth they have completely into this commune. I was around a few of them years ago and very soft-spoken, did not look you in the eye, especially the women and gave me a real erie feeling. Their leader, who died years ago, was a real wacko but had alot of the people’s money & built up quite a community. Some people just like that “clan-living”.

      I think it’s too late.

We are looking at a similar collapse that befell the Soviet Union 20 years ago: the break-up of the country into smaller nation-states.

How this will all go down is anybody’s guess but I suspect certain regions will fare better than others. And the corollary to that point: other regions will fare much, much worse. “Flyover country” representing the former and the urban areas representing the latter.

The Founders did not lay out a constitution for a transcontinental, multicultural super-nation with 312 billion people also in-charge of policing other nations. This is key to understanding America in the 21st century.

Most of this collapse will not be the result of deliberate conspiratorial planning but is a result of natural attrition and the natural decay of governmental bodies and culture.

We should welcome this as a chance at a new start though the potential for conflict and mayhem is great.

The purpose of the original Constitution was to strengthen, not limit, the US government. It was the Bill of Rights that attempted to lay down some limits–though mostly on the Federal government, not on “government” as such.

Reading the Federalist & AntiFederalist Papers… one sees that The Conferacy was too weak to support the States… so a stronger form of Government was required, in order to allow business between the States, but take away Money Printing, Import/Export Taxes, etc. Given this stronger Government… many feared it’s Power… so the Constitution Limited the Power of Government… and was further Limited by Rights!

The “Federalist Papers” I’ve heard of, but never the “Anti-Federalist Papers.” It’s surprising how many people we think of as Founders, from Patrick Henry to George Mason to Sam Adams, either opposed the ratification of the Constitution or accepted it only with reservations. As you say, the Bill of Rights was added on to appease some of the Anti-Federalists, and as a necessary price to get 9 states to ratify.

The Key to winning over many of the AntiFrederalists/Confederates was that Senators would be appointed by States, to represent each State equally… but that is now gone, because of Wilson and his Popular Vote change, which is Union Targeted. Comparing the Papers/Arguements side by side is very interesting!

I’m glad somebody else discovered that Glenn Beck only pushed half the “original argument”, and thus one side. It has created the false perception that the “Bill of Rights” were included in the Federalist’s arguments, when in fact they were arguing against them. Had it not been for the Anti-Federalists, there would have been no Bill of Rights at all.

Each of the “Federalists” lived to contradict, in both word and deed, their own “arguments” to the Anti-Federalists and prove the worst critcisms to be fact. It has been a long road, but it is currently obvious the Anti-Federalists were correct and the Federalists were duplicitous politicians – the like of which we’ve had in abundance since the “original argument”.

Marxists make their ideas seem so wondrous and magical, don’t they? They need a reality check – AMERICA CAN’T SAVE THE WORLD. We’ve been trying for years, but the rest of the world has demonstrated it doesn’t want to be saved.

In our attempts to rid the world of evil, America has become battered and weakened, and she’s now bleeding and on life support. The only way to save her is to restore our faith in God and uphold the Constitution. Without a moral society, America dies.
