Are Whites More Discriminated Against Than Blacks?

A post-racial America? Think again.
According to a new study conducted by sociologists at Harvard and Tufts universities, American whites believe that they are more discriminated against than blacks. Respondents were asked to rate ‘racism’ against both groups on a scale from one to 10. Of the 209 white and 208 black men and women surveyed, the results were telling. According to Mail Online,
…while both blacks and whites saw anti-black racism decreasing over the decades, whites saw race relations as a ‘zero sum game’ where they were losing out as blacks ‘gained’ the advantage.
The study found that, on average, blacks noticed anti-white bias increasing when comparing the 1950s to today. Taking into account the same time frame, blacks also saw racism against themselves steeply decline. Whites, though, reported very different perceptions:
For the 2000s, 11 per cent of whites gave anti-white bias the maximum 10 out of 10 rating, compared with only two per cent of whites who did so for anti-black bias.
Whites believed that discrimination against them had increased from an average of 1.8 in the 1950s to 4.7 in the 2000s.
Researchers looked at other studies that seemed to indicate that whites typically view any focus on minorities as an attack on white peoples’ values. It should be noted that the pool of individuals included in this study was relatively small. Many researchers seek to survey 1,000 respondents at minimum to ensure that the results are truly representative of the broader society (or cohort).
If these results are true, race continues to be an issue worthy of discussion and debate in contemporary American society.

I know people who were never racist who now are because of blacks discriminating against them in one form or another. Blacks have an attitude problem caused by government affirmative action. Government jobs pay the highest but the jobs go to the minorities while the white people go to the end of the line. Blacks get $50k per person who just claimed to be farmers for alleged discrimination while our military fight for benefits for injuries sustained in past wars. And Congress continues to deny veteran benefits. The whole system has come to an impasse.

Using government statistics, there have been close to 50 million babies aborted in America since 1973, and just over 50% (25 million) of those babies were black. If you quit killing your own babies, there would be 90 million blacks in America, today, which would be almost 1/3 the total population of 360 million. The worst thing for Blacks, is Blacks. Take responsibility for yourselves and quit blaming “Whitey”. NONE OF YOU nor “your parents” have ever been a slave to anything but your own laziness and unwillingness to assimilate into American culture. Forget AFRICA or shut up and go back there. You’re NOT discriminated against by whites any more. Blacks and illegal aliens are the RACIST.

With all due respect, Thom, I think you might be looking at figures that are not part of the current census. Hispanics at 45 million outnumber blacks by several million.
The figures I viewed on the feds web site alleges that blacks are 13% of the population, about 1% greater than before.
As non-blacks come into the country legally, they not only reduced the white percentage of the population from 75% to 67%, but the inflow will likewise reduce the percentage of blacks.
The Haitians and Somalis brought into the country do not amount to numbers that will affect the black population percentage to any great degree…..yet.
This situation, incidentally, is a civil war or insurrgency in the making, because no country can inundate itself with lower echelon peons for any length of time, when economic conditions deteriorate to the point ours has.
We’re living on borrowed time. Right after we hit financial bottom, there will be mass riots of every size and type, from taxes to a cut-off of social freebies. It’s coming.

It is ridiculous how they spew hatred of the republicans, Rush, Glenn, and still George Bush. When my son suggests options, they shut him down immediately. He has afamily to feed and he tolerates it, but I hope SOMEONE in that places rectifies what is being done.
They even marched a white female out of the building by police escort for using the copy machine for religious papers. It’s okay though to cheat, lie and steal if you are black.

I think the playing field is not equal at all and it’s much easier for ethenic people to get into school and get better jobs than that of a white person. The Bigwigs of the company had a surprise inspection during 3rd shift, where they found several of the night janitors sleeping. The bigwigs were so POed they fired my friend, the one in charge of the 1st shift crew. And they told him why, “We can’t fire the second or third shift managers, they’re black”. My friend went to 3 different lawyers and none would take his case. “Yes” they told him, “that is reverse discrimination. But you’d never win.” See, we live in a yellowdog democrat city. True story, and if you think I’m making it up, go look in a mirror. There’s your racist.

First, Burnthills seems a bit racist. I wouldn’t blame “the blacks” for the problems, but the socialists who are both black and white.
In your case, Locked, I just wanted to point out Burnthills probably mean 1965. By the way, wages and employment for black Americans were already increasing before the Civil Rights Act, and in fact, leveled off for a while immediately following. Thus, the Civil Rights Act didn’t do crap to help minorities, black, white, or indifferent.

I took it to mean “The end of the Civil War,” but if he did in fact mean 99 years later (Civil Rights Act of 1964), then I can see a bit of your point. However, a slight increase in economic power was nowhere near the same as a governmental guarantee to freedom from discrimination. I know there are plenty of people who would love segregation to continue, but thankfully the Act set the grounds for a bit of actual societal freedom.

Then, after they did the background check and found out that I was a white guy, they never called again. I grew up an Air Force brat and I had many friends of all different colors and nationalities. I never thought twice about them being my friend. My favorite was a girl named Malkia-a half white (german mom)and half black ( american seviceman). We walked to school together every day. She could speak perfedt english one minute and then, on a dime switch to perfect german; she was SO smart. .(we were stationed at Spangdahlem Air Force Base in West Germany at the time) Now, here I am in my forties and my white brothers and sisters and I are discrimated against like we are 2 headed dogs. And, I have never lifted a finger against a person of color my entire life. In the country that my father spent years away from his family defending, I am now a third class citizen. But, I tell you this, and this is fact, if this BS continues you will see the bloodiest race war in the history of mankind and there will be no force on earth that will be able to stop it.

I’m not concerned with the sample size; 200+ is actually decent, as any introduction to statistics student would know. I’d like to know what the margin of error was and how they picked their folks. Also, it didn’t include women, which makes me wonder how different added in the sexual difference would be.
But, not surprising results. One group benefits from affirmative action, the other doesn’t. The one without a benefit will feel upset.

He has an entire chapter devoted to racism, where he talks about racism around the world and during different time periods. The assumption, of course, is that racism only exists in America, and it’s only White on Black.
The fact is, racism has existed for a very long time, and there are several examples people lived in harmony, and then racism bloomed, and several examples where people lived in a racially charged society and the racism died out.
So many liberal arguments begin with the assumption that all things are “steady state”. It’s similar to their arguments regarding “the poor” and “the rich”, as if there are these enduring classes of people in America, and once you’re rich, you’re always rich, and if you’re poor, you’ll always be poor.

The last large country that insulted and demeaned education was China during its revolution. With college education being one of the best ways still available to increase your personal wealth in life, it disturbs me how there is a growing resentment against being “educated.” Don’t let a few bad apples make you think the tree is rotten – once an apple falls off the branches, it‘s not the tree’s fault if it becomes disgusting.

I look at a lot of these college aged kids today after spending $200,000 on education and they are at their parent’s house playing “World of Warcraft” all day long.
And yes, I went to College and so did my wife. We work in fields COMPLETELY unrelated to our major!

Typically, if the number is less than 3 digits, use the numeric. In any case, if you use the text, keep using it, at least in the same sentence.

If you spend $200,000 on a university education, you’re one of two people:
1. You have no concept of money (either it‘s not an issue or you didn’t think it through)
2. You had no plan for your future and just decided arbitrarily on a school
A good state college will run a student 40% of that over 4 years… and that’s before scholarships, grants, and tuition waiving programs. FL for example offered 100% off of tuition depending on your high school education record, extra curricular activities, and community service… until recent budget cuts made them reduce the maximum to 75%. When budgets get tight, education is one of the first things to be cut.
Yet even outside the ridiculous costs, education at all levels is seemingly under attack by those who decry learning in general. Rather applauding or scrutinizing years of study and applied uses of statistics, people sneer at polls and complain about ivory towers and indoctrination. Math isn’t worth it because people can lie with statistics. Science isn’t worth it if it disrupts our personal beliefs. Medicine isn’t worth studying because healthcare costs are sky-rocketing. And that’s not even touching the liberal (oh no, LIBERAL!) arts which often form our society’s culture – art, music, language, writing. All called worthless and insulted.
College isn’t for everyone, but for most students and definitely for society as a whole, it makes life much better. Learning is never an inherently bad choice.

As a woman who works and has worked since I was 16 yoa (I am 44 now), I feel insulted by this statement. Now maybe you were talking about another class, but from what I have read, it appears as tho you are referring to female in general. I have not had anything given to me because I am a female. I would imaginbe that like me their are plenty of people who really dont care about horses all that much and have other ways of defining their success. I mean horses are beutiful animals and everything but im into money and computers I have several computers, as that is what I like. We like I said earflier could compare stuff we have all day but does it really matter? There should be a question mark there, after that sentence. And you’re still writing “their” when the correct word is “there.” Those kinds of things are not typos or a lack of proofreading. They’re a lack of knowledge or an inability to understand what the correct usuage is.
And concentrating on the points you clumsily expound on is difficult too, because most of what you write are incomplete thoughts, running together, then jumping from one point to the other with obvious incorrect evaluations, because you can’t logic in coherent thems, so your problem isn’t just because of your use of incorrect words and running together of sentences, you have a problem with drawing correct parallels and clarity of thought. It’s very obvious, and there’s nothing you can do to explain it away.
I will give you credit for being more capable than Sinasta, however, but that’s hardly anything to brag about. It’s as I said, neither can do anything but ramble on, flitting from one subject to another with no clarity of thought nor a persuasive presentation that makes any sense. I’m pretty busy generally, and I have emails to read and send to boot, but the best way to handle these white hating blacks is to let them ramble on about something, because, as I said before, what they carry on about is far more damaging to them than anything anybody could write about them.

They severely damage the illusion they’re trying to present when BLACK TEA PARTY MEMBERS and those who abhor racism challenge them and expose their racism.
I have never heard a white person say they harbor racism internally, and only speak about it in private. That is one of the most cowardly things that perpetuates racism. They still live in 1964 where the police were nearly 100% white and beating minorities, so when anyone criticizes the Nazi Gestapo that they think is supposed to keep them safe from the “savages”, they get all bent out of shape.
