Are You Ready for Al Gore and Current TV’s 24-Hour Global Warming Special?

Current TV plans to air a presentation on climate change by former vice president Al Gore — chairman of the network — who hopes the initiative will turn skeptics of the “climate crisis.”
The live broadcast of Gore’s multimedia talk begins Thursday at 7 p.m. Eastern time. The cable network said Monday it will culminate a worldwide, 24-hour initiative called “24 Hours of Reality,” designed to explore the scope and impact of global warming.
In addition to its TV broadcast, Current will present a live Internet feed of “24 Hours of Reality” starting Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern time. It will feature 23 different citizen-activists from different parts of the world, beginning in Mexico City.
“24 Hours of Reality will focus the world’s attention on the full truth, scope, scale and impact of the climate crisis. To remove the doubt. Reveal the deniers. And catalyze urgency around an issue that affects every one of us,” writes Gore on the Climate Reality Project website.
Gore’s rhetoric is reminiscent of his unhinged rant at the Aspen Institute this July:
The project website encourages people to watch this video below, spread the word on social media, then RSVP that you will watch the event. Close to 55,000 have already RSVPed:
“There will be 200 new slides arguing the connection between more extreme weather and climate change,” Trewin Restorick, chief executive of the event’s UK partner Global Action Plan, told Reuters.
“There will be a full-on assault on climate skeptics, exploring where they get their funding from.”
Gore collected $49 million at the box office worldwide in 2006 for promoting the climate crisis in “An Inconvenient Truth.”
Concern about climate change among Americans has steadily declined to 48 percent in 2011, from 62 percent in 2007, an opinion poll showed in August according to Reuters.
In an interview last month, Gore compared people who question the climate crisis to segregationists in the 1960s:

The Rush Limbaugh-Hannity crowd have stopped claiming that the Earth is actually cooling. Have you noticed that? Now they – these climate change experts – are saying that, yes, the climate is changing, but it’s natural, due to sunspots or the tilt of the Earth or volcanoes on the moon. The warmer climate has nothing to do to with all the greenhouse gasses being pumped into the atmosphere since the Industrial Revolution.
This goes to the heart of the philosophy of the right: if an idea might hurt the profits of the richest corporations in the world (who aren’t hiring by the way), then it must be wrong. Who are you gonna believe, 10,000 climate scientists the world over, or Rush Limbaugh?

I found my toddlers watching breaking news and pulled the cable out of the wall. We don’t miss it except I could not watch Glenn on FOX. Now I can if I can just get GBTV to work. It should come as no surprise to anyone that the CEO of ICE Jeffrey Sprecher is a close ally with Joel Rogers from his days at the University of Wisconsin and is a subscriber to Rogers’ “high road politics” (aka progressive dictatorship and statist rule). What surprise should appear on the list of Board members for ICE? Former REPUBLICAN Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire. This fraud was nothing more than a right wing progressive, much like George Bush (who he acted as John Kerry and Al Gore for debating sessions in build up to the 2 presidential races because he was so fluent in left wing platforms), John McCain, Scott Brown, and Independent Joe Lieberman. Gregg was also the muscle to cram TARP down America’s throat (there was nothing right wing about that law). Speaking of Cronyism, Gregg was also a 4 million dollar investor in Bank of America that TARP bailed out. Low and behold Fred Hatfield an ICE Board member also served on the Obama Economic Policy Advisory Committee. Didn‘t think I’d leave Martell out of this do you? Martell is the PHd out of Penn State (who has a student named Baum who recently screamed about global warming and alien invasion! on Fox News). We should also remember it was out of the PSU Science Department where Al Gore got his fraudulent GW/CC data modeling.

The world’s population is pressing as always on its natural resources and systems. Sometimes in history, technological fixes have appeared, but not always. Do we really have faith that either untrammeled government planning, or untrammeled private enterprise, is adequate to the task of defending coastlines? mitigating the advance of deserts? preserving agricultural productivity? dealing with unanticipated geological or astrophysical “burtations?”

Yes, we need to make changes in our federal government’s policies. And, to do so, it will be an upward battle. Meanwhile, we need to make changes in our local policies as well.
If more cities, counties, and states in the United States would make changes for lessening the affects of climate change, then, we would become more influential in persuading our federal government for changes in its policies.
By working locally with equal effort while working federally, we will reach a turning point sooner in the upward battle of changing federal policies for lessening or reversing—to a degree— global warming.
