Ariz. Woman Threatened With Citation for Handing Out Free Bottled Water

An Arizona woman is demanding the City of Phoenix apologize to her and her colleagues after officials told them they couldn’t hand out free bottled water, ABC15.com reports.

“Dana Crow-Smith said a City of Phoenix worker came up to her during the First Friday festival in downtown Phoenix last month and told her she was violating city code by handing out free water because she did not have a permit,” the report adds.

Considering that this is Arizona (i.e. a bajillion degrees outside), you’d think officials would encourage people to hand out free [we cannot emphasize this point enough] bottled water.

“Crow-Smith and a group of others were there exercising their Christian beliefs by engaging people to talk about religion if they wanted,” ABC15.com adds.

Crow-Smith and her colleagues brought the bottled water to give away to people roasting in the 112-degree heat [see?], but said a “Neighborhood Preservation Inspector” told them that they had to stop what they were doing or risk a citation.

“It was really hot and yeah we wanted to show God‘s love and a small act of kindness is a great way to do that without shoving it down someone’s throat,” said Crow-Smith.

Watch the ABC 15.com news update:

Since the “No Water Or Else” incident occurred last month, the non-profit civil liberties organization The Rutherford Institute has offered to represent Crow-Smith and help her fight against what they call “a violation of [her] First Amendment right to freely exercise her religion, her Fourteenth Amendment due process rights, as well as Arizona’s Free Exercise of Religion Act.”

“It is a sad day when local government officials prohibit Americans from such charitable acts as giving water to the thirsty in their city,” said John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute.

Whitehead has demanded that the City issue “a formal, written apology to Crow-Smith, assure her no City officials will interfere in future with her distribution of water, and require City workers go through training on the proper enforcement of the City’s code,” ABC15.com reports.

If they don’t comply with the request, a lawsuit could follow.

Crow-Smith said she would rather avoid a lawsuit and just wants to give bottled water to thirsty Arizonans.

“But I don‘t think it’s even about religious beliefs. I think anybody should be able to giveaway water on the sidewalk to anybody. It‘s hot and it’s a nice thing to do,” said Crow-Smith.

Neighborhood Preservation Officer is code for Agenda 21. They want population control, so I guess they want the poor and homeless to die to make room for those of us in the ‘burbs to fit into the city.

I keep a bottle of water (unopened) in my car because we have a couple places where the homeless panhandle. I won’t give money, but I’ll give a bottle of water on a hot day.

Sorry to disappoint, but I live in Montgomery Co., MD and it’s 100% Democrat. The county has a permit law exactly the same as AZ. Our church had to remove their free bottled water at an outdoor event, or face a fine. It’s not about religion, it’s about health codes and fairness between vendors and merchants. It also helps fill the coffers of the county.

Greg Stanton is an American politician who serves as Mayor of Phoenix. He won the November 8, 2011 runoff election to succeed term-limited mayor Phil Gordon. Stanton, a Democrat and former Phoenix City Council member who represented areas of north Phoenix, defeated Republican political consultant/lobbyist Wes Gullett after a contentious campaign that resulted in large election turnout.[1] Stanton was sworn in as 52nd Mayor of Phoenix in January 2012.[2]

So you are telling me the Phoenix 40 are republicans? After 30 years in the city I think I know a thing or two about the politics there and you are babbling crap without knowledge or truth. Was it republicans who purposefully slowed the work on the I-17, 10 interchange with the stated goal of killing the Roadrunner truck stop to eliminate truck stops from the city. After losing the battle to block the Circle K truck stop from 59th-I10 they made it a policy to ticket endlessly truckers along Watkins and other side streets in their never ending battle against truckers. Democrats were behind this and everyone knows it except you of course. While this is going on they allowed lot lizards and drug dealers to operate without interference in the hopes it would get so bad on the property the public would go along and demand they move the rest of the trucking industry outside the city. Instead Circle K gave up, sold out to Pilot, who did their own clean up of the property and things there are somewhat improved. I say somewhat because as this cleared up the gangs moved in to the surrounding areas unchallenged by the law which we all know is because of the new democrat policy of political correctness saying do nothing if they are non white no matter how many they murder. I was there during the decades from the 70′s on until I got tired of being robbed at shot at moving to the Midwest where it is quiet. If you do not know in truth with experience keep your mouth shut.

They want to train us to rely on them and them alone for things like food, water & shelter. That way, if , once we’re trained, they need our votes, all they have to do is take something away. The problem is the makers of these policys, are often practically immune to public censure because of their position, or the difficulty of making them accountable.

I am beginning to believe (as you have preached), that the only way to directly and quickly impact this type of pervasive evil is to hold everyone involved accountable.

The City of Phoenix probably thought the fat content of the water was too high. You know cities are always looking out for the best for their citizens. Just look at how New York is looking out for those poor souls who may make a personal choice that isn’t in lockstep with Bloomberg. Plus, these people in Phoenix probably didn’t grease the hands of the politicians with money for a “water distribution in 112 degree weather license”. The accelerated emphasis the current administration has applied to REGULATIONS and enforcement of those regulations has even spilled over into the local city government at its lowest level. As the words to an old Buffalo Springfield song says, “.There’s something happening here, what it is ain’t exactly clear, there’s a man with a gun over there, telling me I got to be aware you better stop, what’s that sound, everybody look whats going down. ”

What’s going down is a “ fundamental change of government” as we know it, being force-fed by Marxist revolutionaries who mistakenly believe they can actually take away our freedom and rights for the sake of social justice.

The government does not want people to care about one another for it is their goal, it seems, to divide the people. They want to be the ones people are dependent upon. Charitable acts seem to be something they detest for they cannot factor goodness into their equations of evil and suppression. They want people have as hard of a time as possible so they will have to beg from the governments. People of this type is why the world is in the mess it is in. They are greedy and selfish and do not want any burden lifted off of others or goodness displayed by others as it cannot into something they can control.

Whites shoved their religion down our throats, now they won’t let us practice it! Drinking horses are a rarity. Leave us alone!

“now they won’t let us practice it! ” That is a falsehood.

“Drinking horses are a rarity. “ That is a rather obtuse or oblique way of rendering the saying ”You can bring a horse to water but you can’t make it drink”. There is a lot of wisdom in that saying. I believe in it.

These women were not forcing anyone drink or listen. Christians are instructed to move on if someone will not listen. These women are not saying I gave you a bottle of water & know you must listen for 5 minutes. Most people probably take the water say Thankyou & move on. that is just the way it goes.

      Ever hear of “Winter” Shakers?

If you are talking about use of peyote in religious ceremonies, yes the government would stop you or try. But it would also try to stop a person of any other race doing the same.

Go ahead use the peyote, just don‘t come crying to us for welfare because you can’t hold a job.

Native Americans knew nothing of The Christ before the settlers came from across the sea. Then what? We ( my Ancestors…I’m half-blooded Iroquois by birth) we were taken captive, made slaves and killed if we didn‘t play the ’Jesus’ game. Now I‘m told to blow it out my ’barracks bag’? WTF does that mean!? ‘Paleface afraid we rise up again’ and kick your asses back to Europe where you came from? (Personally, I don‘t mind that one effin’ bit!) Now, finally, the govt. gave us something back with the casinos. Got a gambling problem? Dial 1-800 GO TO HELL! As far as peyote goes, the CIA was experiment with it in the 50s! For mind control, instead of freedom for the mind! The only reply that made any sense to me was WALKABOUT’s. He (?), and only he, is fit to ride with us. The rest of you can walk a mile in ‘my mocassins’! Ingrates!

Coming soon everyone will need 1099 form for everything (for every little transaction). Feed your neighbors dog while they are on vacation, fill out form 1099 or get fined. After all the poor wittle government would have got taxes if your neighbors had taken Spot to a kennel.

Is Obama to the U.S. as Diocletian was to Rome?

Tax everything the state needs money!

The church down the road does this all of the time around Cincy. They stand on the street corners of very busy intersections during the “dog days” and hand out ice cold water and then thank you for accepting it. These evil nice people must be stopped!;0/
