Army Golden Knights Claim Responsibility for UFOs Over TX

An Army parachute jumper is claiming responsibility for the strange lights appearing over El Paso, TX over the weekend.

On the US Army Golden Knights webpage, SGT Rachel Medley says that the Golden Knights “Black” demonstration team was doing a night time “pyro” demonstration*:

Medley was responding to a commenter on the Knight’s webpage asking the group about the news story (seen on The Blaze) suggesting the lights could be extra terrestrial. A video of a Golden Knights night time jump on YouTube does show similarities to the El Paso lights:

However, Medley has not responded to commenters asking her to explain similar lights over Manhattan, which were seen during the day:

Over on the blog, a reader photo shows similar lights occurring at dawn, suggesting the glimmers may not have been from a night time Army parachute demonstration.

The official explanation for the Manhattan lights is an errant clump of balloons released by children in Virginia. Not surprisingly, that hasn’t satisfied UFO speculators.

On a different part of the Golden Knights website, SGT Medley offers a thorough explanation of the night jumps and specifically the El Paso jump:

This about the flares:

Question: How do you pull of the whole “hovering and reverse trajectory thing?”

Answer: “Hovering and reverse trajectory” is a really fancy way of saying that we opened our parachutes, slowing from 120 mph to about 12 mph in a matter of seconds, then started steering our parachutes around in preparation to land. Because the change in speed is so sudden and dramatic, it can appear to spectators on the ground that the jumpers are hovering. Nope, they are simply gliding gently to the ground under their black and gold canopies. One fan asked if we had “jet packs,” and the answer is NO…we wish! Our parachutes have a forward speed of 22 miles per hour, and with the pyro sparks burning under the canopy, it appears that we are going pretty fast.

And this about the El Paso jump:

Question: (specifically about the El Paso jump Friday) Why were there three flares when the parachutes opened, then a fourth became visible after they were hovering?

Answer: During freefall, not all of the jumpers in the formation ignite their pyro sticks. One of the jumpers, SFC Arlyn Slade, waited until he was under canopy to ignite his flares because he was performing canopy relative work with his CRW partner, SSG Todd Beckel. As soon as their canopies were together, SFC Slade ignited his pyro, creating the fourth flare.

    I’m not saying this was a UFO – or the Golden Knights (the video – parachute jump looks like) their claim. However, How many “air shows” are done at night? I thought the first reports stated there were Military aircraft doing exercises in the area, now it’s night jumps? I’ve been to a few military air shows in my days – and they usually finish before night fall – when the crowd can‘t see the aircraft and or security can’t keep a eye on the crowd.

    Sorry, solid round balls of light vs. flame shooting comet-looking lights – not the same. I am not going to cry, “Alien!”, but would love to know what they are trying to hide. I would have rathr heard nothing thatn this lame explanation.

    I call B.S!!! That may explain the fire trail but it doesn’t explain the abrupt stop, hover and vanish… it doesn’t explain the NYC event.

    The pentagon ordered the army to quell the uproar.

    I do not understand why, when people see something in the sky that does not look like an airplane, they automatically just to the conclusion that they are aliens from another planet. While they are here they are also generating crop circles, mutilating cattle, abducting humans for experiments, hanging out at Area 51, etc.

    Yep, that must be what is going on.

      Agree, I have seen such phenomena – documented phenomena – as ball lightning, and St Elmos Fire that caused others around me to wonder about the “aliens” until it was clearly and simply explained to them just what it actually was.

      Nature has many wonderful, and strange phenomena – not counting DC – that are explainable; a few years ago the shuttle crews and airplane piolets reported strange jets of lights going spacewards from the atmospheric clouds – the answer, the phenomena documented as “Sprites” that are discaharges of electricity upwards with common coloration of blues, reds, and greens.

      No aliens, just nature.

I ask you why is it when something un-explainable is seen people automatically call people that question it loony? Or that we have tin foil hats on? Common sense and locic tells you that those are not sky divers, you even have actual sky divers that question this ‘Sgt’. that claims responsibility.     I laughed at some of the skeptics, especially the “how do you keep your feet together?” guy. 2 minutes on youtube, and you can see a vid that clearly shows they each have a flare strapped to their right ankle. No need to keep the feet together. At night, people only see the one light source, so it could be pretty much anywhere on their body. My guess is that strapped to the ankle would be one of the safest, though.

      Strapping flares to your your feet in a jump is extremely dangerous sir, the types of flare needed to produce that amount of light are what is known as Phosphurus, and if you strap that to your feet it will melt you in seconds. You canot see any chutes in any of the footage they are claming credit for YET even at night you can CLEARLY see their chutes in the legitimate videos of them. Also WHY did they not follow decades old SOP and notify LAw enforcement and local EMS? And when did the US Army start using LIVE ordnance over a civilian population? Flares are considered Ordnance. I was attached to 1/171 MLRS as an FO for years, you have to use flares of that quiality that those idiots claim they used over a very controlled and safe impact, jump or cordned zone. None of this is the case. If anything you are not thinking enough. I post too much about this but the amount of gullible people concerns me. Logic tells you this smells fishy.

    I am a skydiver. I’ve seen similar aerial shows to the one in the video up there, but there is a bit of a problem with the explanation. If the Army jump team did do it, then they have anti-gravity. Most jumps last about five minutes, but those lights were up there at the same altitude for about ten. Even if they were flapping their arms really hard, they couldn’t have stayed in the air as long as the video lasts. It sounds like the government trying to explain away another UFO sighting and failing miserably at it.

    Also, if it was the Golden Knights, why did their flares suddenly become LED lights when they stopped their fall? If the video, the flares were still flares when their chutes opened, they were just pointing a different direction. However, if the UFO video, the “flares” stopped flaring when they stopped their decent.

    Finally, the news organizations were surprised by the demonstration, but the Golden Knights inform them even of practice jumps over population centers. It is good PR to have a camera crew out there watching. If this was a practice jump for a new stunt or something, and not a show, why was it not done over a military installation like all the rest of their practice jumps?

    As I said, there are too many holes in their explanation. Thus, because the government tried to explain it and failed miserably, it is a cover up of something.

    please please please don’t tell me the truth and explain away my deep desire to prove there are extra-terrestrials at all costs. I want every single sighting to be unidentified and when one of them is identified I want to immediately question it, get conspiratorial and attempt to disprove it, even if I have to call the most patriotic of people liars….. i.e don’t confuse me with facts. ugh..kids, what did you do with your balloons?

    In the video of the actual show, you can see the parachutes. The fire does not stay in a round circle. The fire arches with the turns and has a tail. There is no similarity. Someone should be able to blow up the pics at the top of the page and see guys with parachutes if that is what it is.

      I think they may already be here, and have been for some time. That’s the only explanation I can come up with to explain how a group of people can be so out of touch with 70+ percent of the American public and blame it all on that 70+ percent. If they aren’t aliens I am at a total loss to explain it. Only thing is, why coudn’t we get the cool aliens?

      Agreed,life is probably out there of some form, just by the odds. Travel at the speed of light would still take thousands of years to reach earth from one of the closest possible life sustaining planet which makes being visited highly unlikely. there is always a reasonable explanation for ufos even though the ufo people disagree. They believe in ufos, lake monster and bigfoot and deny God. it is provable to show there are no lake monsters, yet they believe in them as a religion. Big foot on the other hand is hard to prove but no credible evidence has ever been documented, but they continue to believe

      This has been taking place all over the world, every day, and captured on video (including video I have taken here in NYC over the past week). It’s concerned me enough to start a thread on a forum I frequent for Marshall Amplification (I play guitar). The thread can get a little wordy at times, but it’s a very serious discussion what is taking place on a worldwide level. No, the thread does not advocate the theory that “aliens are invading”.       Hey it worked when they explained “away” Roswell. Why wouldn’t they try it again? Surely they still think that we are all stupid and still gullible(about most of every thing). They still think that “We can’t handle the Truth”. Oh yeah, they don’t know what Truth is. Something is going on. This explanation doesn’t really jive with me.
