At least three more Secret Service agents were expected to lose their jobs Friday as a result of the Colombia prostitution scandal, a federal official told the Associated Press.
Meanwhile, NBC News reported the number of firings could be as high as five.
Three agents have already left the Secret Service amid the fallout.
A total of 11 Secret Service agents were placed on leave last week amid revelations that at least some brought prostitutes back to their Cartagena, Colombia hotel ahead of President Barack Obama’s arrival for a summit. The scandal came to light after a dispute one of the agents had with a woman over her payment.
Also on Friday, the Pentagon said an 11th military person was involved in the scandal, up from 10 as had been previously reported.
Update: Three Secret Service agents resigned Friday, raising the total number of agents to leave their positions because of the scandal to six.
Additionally, Secret Service Agency Director Mark Sullivan personally briefed Obama on the situation in the Oval Office.

I would like to know the total number of SS agents in the force in which I could determine the percentage of those agents working the White House detail in which could be subject to contamination!

Posted on April 21, 2012 at 12:28amCould it be that this type of behavior goes way back and has everything to do with who is in office? Look at the total lack of leadership and oversight this country has received from the Obama Administration. Remember the people who got into WH parties and weren’t even on the list? It strikes me as a rather odd response by Obama, saying that if this checks out to be true he’ll “be angry”. He showed more passion when he was complaining about Professor Gates being profiled by the racist police. My guess is he knows more than he is letting on, and the answer lies somewhere between lax leadership expectations and disrespect for the President. Would any of these guys who were drinking, and fooling around with prostitutes be willing to die for the president? I think not!

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 10:45pmIt seems that there is so much lack of morality among people today. They think bad behavior is alright. I wonder what their wives think about now. These guys had to have done this before everywhere they go, they just got found out this time. Some intregrity and where does one find honesty, fidelity and intregrity today. Doesn’t seem to exist for most. Will we ever find out who the stingy one was that refused to pay. Well, all of them should be fired and I’m sure they all have been told to stay away from bad girls, but these guys don’t mind. Was you night of sin worth it? I don’t think so.

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 4:50pmWe have been told three have already been FIRED, and I have yet to see where the first three were actually FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One was allowed to RETIRE, with full retirement benefits,
One was allowed to RESIGN, with no black marks on his record, and
The third was RECOMMENDED for dismissal, but until action is taken he remains on the payroll.
The one who was allowed to resign is probably already in line for another government job in another agency.

I’m not condoning what they did but how is it that bringing a prostitute back to your hotel room is so much more of an offense than letting guns cross over the border into Mexico or essentially spitting on the Constitution? Why have there been no firings over these kinds of things?

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 5:22pmI have to say, I have wondered this, too. This story seems so beneath the SS and the Military and just doesn’t add up. How could so many (21 people) show such poor judgment? These are some very well-scrutinized folks. Who wouldn’t pay $47 (or whatever the rate) to keep the peace, unless he didn’t know she was a prostitute? Do you REALLY think these service members did cocaine, as was reportedly found in the hotel room (unless that’s been debunked)? They are randomly drug tested – would they really risk it? Where were the 42 (21 hookers and 21 military folks), because they couldn’t all have been in the same hotel room!? Need more info.
I have been turned into a cynic by the media and this President (and those surrounding him). Thus, my cynical opinion is that a lesson is being taught to these folks who probably have little or no respect for the office-holder, and it was all a set-up to embarrass them and show them who’s in charge and give them a taste of what will happen if they ever fall out of line or tell the truth about what they hear and see. Even the advance teams must be privy to things this administration would never want leaked.

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 4:14pmThis whole incident has stumped and stymied me. I’ve worked a number of PSD missions well in the past and some for lengthy periods of time. We were taught by Army CID specialists in the field and the training was based on Secret Service training. I had always looked up to these guys and had thought they were the epitome in their profession. In the past when certain politicians and dignitaries went overseas for certain reasons other than the president and vice president, CID most often picked up the PSD mission in the Army personnel were near enough. I can only imagine that in some areas the USAF and Navy picked up some of these missions. So, the military has a lengthy heritage in the same missions. I do know now that the Secret Service has grown and picks up more of these missions. It just truly bothers me that internal leadership has let some things go to the point they got to this. No, I will not be so silly as to blame 0bama. I certainly do not care for 0bama, but I can see this goes back further than he could have had any affect. Not sure what the Bush admin did, but I have read and heard they were far better treated then. I would venture to say a lot of this goes back to the Clinton administration and maybe back to the Carter years. I understand they were so poorly treated during those terms that the roots for such activity may have been planted then. Likely, a reduction in funds for their continued training and weapons qualifications too. Continued:

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 4:06pmIf these guys and/or their families are allowed pension and healthcare benifits, the people making that decision should be fired as well – without pensions or healthcare. Too many public employees do a bad job, or do bad things, and are “let go”; but Taxpayers end up supporting them and their families for the rest of their lives.
That’s not FAIR. If you screw up, you lose your benefits.
Report Post »LestWeForget
Posted on April 20, 2012 at 5:26pmI agree on some level, but (oh boy please I don’t want to sound like a liberal) the family members didn’t do this. Wives and kids who, believe me, sacrificed alot for their husbands’ careers.
I also think to lose one’s earned benefits should require a trial, not a bureaucrat’s decision, which would make it way to easy to manipulate and harm political enemies. Let’s face it, this could really be just that, a political set up and take down.
Maybe trails are always required to have benefits dropped, I don’t know.
