At Least 33 Killed Saturday Across Iraq

Bombs in Baghdad killed six people Saturday night, capping a deadly day which in at least 33 people died across Iraq, officials said.

Late Saturday night, a bomb hidden in a bicycle outside a Sunni mosque killed three worshippers and wounded eight others leaving evening prayers at the Omer Bin Abdul Aziz mosque just north of Baghdad, police said.

A half hour later, three policemen died nearby while responding to an explosion under a bridge in the predominantly Christian al-Ghadeer neighborhood in the capital’s east, officials said. A second bomb killed them. Eight people were wounded in the blasts.

The casualties were confirmed by Baghdad hospital officials, but all spoke under condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.

Also, Iraqi security official said two explosions in the northern city of Mosul wounded 15 people, including nine Iraqi soldiers and policemen.

Violence has dropped in Iraq since the period a few years ago when the county was in the brink of civil war, but deadly bombings and shootings still occur every day, just months before the scheduled pullout of U.S. forces at the end of the year.

The deadliest incident in Iraq on Saturday, however, was a traffic accident.

A bus carrying vacationing families through northern Iraq collided head-on with a car and burst into flames, killing all 24 people trapped on the bus and three people in the car, police said.

Kirkuk Traffic Police Director Brig. Gen. Sallar Fiqih said the bus was carrying vacationing families with children from Baghdad to the northern city of Irbil. It caught fire, trapping passengers inside, after it collided with the car on a narrow two-lane road about 18 miles (30 kilometers) northwest of the city of Kirkuk.

None of the 23 passengers or the driver aboard the bus survived, Fiqih said.

“When I opened the door of the bus, I saw a horrific scene of totally burned bodies, including four children,” said traffic policeman Asso Ahmed, one of the first officials on the scene.

Three in the oncoming car, including its driver, also were killed, Fiqih said. Three other passengers in the car were injured.

Fiqih said the bus passed through at least one security checkpoint near Kirkuk, where the driver told guards he was headed to Irbil and showed identification that he was from Baghdad. The bus was filled with blankets and tea thermoses, and Fiqih said it appeared its passengers were on vacation. No militant involvement was suspected.

Kirkuk is located about 180 miles (300 kilometers) north of Baghdad.

I have always said that when we leave Iraq, whever that nay be, they will revert back to what they were before we went there. Yep, you just wait and see, if the Iraqies don’t choose another strong man to replace Sadaam Hussein. This is all they know. In the 2,000 years that Iraq has been a country, have they ever chosen anyone that believes in any form of a republican form of democracy? You would think that after so many centuries, they would have gotten the idea that a republican form of democracy was the best thing for them? But, nope, This is all they know. Just look at any muslim country? Has any of them ever, I mean ever, chosen any other form of government than what they created?

Anyone that knows anything about a pull out is that the evil ones up the ante.

Our forces should stay put on compound and keep other safe till they are jetted out of that hell hole.

Bush allowed them to include Sharia law in their constitution…it will go back to what it use to be when the ousted tribe flips the tribe in charge..they just take their cloths off and change into the garb that pursuers are wearing. That is the Arab way of democracy.

All that fighten and dying for what????? Just so we can turn it over to this mayhem, then to ask Johnny GI to come back and straighten it out for a season??? As far as I am concerned we have already shed more than enough blood for these people. We trump up these causes and it always turns out the same way. Doesn’t matter who runs the country, its always the same bleeding heart story about how we have to go there and save them from themselves….but never do the sons and daughters of congressmen go there (its very rade), I think Duncan Hunter has had his own son do a tour there with the Marines.

It seems that the Muslims have things well in hand. If they keep killing each other, we won‘t have to stay in Iraq because there won’t be anyone to supposedly protect. I don’t know if Allah has enough virgins for everyone. I’ve always wondered what their women received when they get to their paradise. They will continue killing each other many many years after we leave.

These sad stories brings up two issues we need to keep in context.

A single horrific traffic collision in Iraq killed more innocents on this day than all terrorist activities combined. And in the civilized world we routinely kill more people by automobile collisions each year than die in all the terrorist attacks combined.

So let’s be careful out there on the road, be alert, and stay actively aware of developing situations around us. We get blase about the dangers of driving because it’s such a commonplace activity. Yet it’s the most dangerous activity most people ever engage in; dangerous both to themselves and to innocents around them. We all need to take driving more seriously and take active responsibility for the lives of others.

On the other hand, the chief damage done by terrorists is how they get us to react. Our reactions damage the free world far more than the actual deaths and mayhem terrorists bring about. After all, we seem to more readily accept a much greater harm caused by one another on the roads. Yet out of fear of terrorism, we surrender our freedoms in order to gain a small illusion of safety.

We’ll all be so much better off, and our nations so much freer and stronger, if we can keep these things in perspective.

Interesting, driving is necessary, accidents are accidents some can be avoided. Terrorism is intentional and can also be avoided by getting out of the way and letting them kill each other. No more nation building!

The MSM would give body counts several times a day during Pres. Bush’s terms, now you don’t see so much as a single mention of all of the deaths under Pres. Obama…. I hope all of the GOP candidates bring that up during the debates that Obama has killed more soldiers under his 3 year reign then Pres. Bush did in his 8 years as Pres. May God bless our troops and their families. We need God and his Peace back in our lives. We need to seek a righteous path and only engage in just wars for our defense.

We should bring our TROOPS home TO secure OUR borders. Sending tens of thousands of our troops throughout the Middle East in the mayhem of religious and tyrannical nutcases, spreading our troops all over the world to bases we don’t necessarily need for any immediate or critical actions, sending our troops in harms way to foreign nations, separating our troops from their families and homeland to fight for elitists and foreign interests, never having a strategy to actually win and end the war, allowing our troops to be used by foreign nations as their personal army for the protection of their borders and streets, threatening and planning further wars without true leadership or a competent federal administration, and using limitless amounts of money to maintain this empire resulting in huge debt and uncertainty for America’s next generation, is dismantling our military.

We should not be using the lives, fortunes and sacred honor of OUR troops, that fight and have fought and died to protect US, to protect or advance the FOREIGN interests of other Nations at the expense of our Liberty, wealth and National Security.

Why do we keep sending our troops to these foreign lands to sacrifice their lives? When will we end the hardship that our troop’s families have to endure? When will this end? We cannot be policing the world to make sure other Nations don’t do this or do that. We have no obligation to Govern within the borders of another sovereign Nation using our resources. We’re not a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT, and WE’RE NOT a GLOBAL POLICE FORCE. We should not follow the UN AND ITS WORLD SOCIALIST PHILOSOPHY. WE WILL NOT BE THEIR PUPPETS or the global elitists’ pawns in implementing their utopian and tyrannical agenda for this world. We don’t have the man power, money, time, alliances or constitutional reason to do so, “We the PEOPLE OF the US… insure DOMESTIC Tranquility, provide for the common DEFENSE… and SECURE the Blessings of Liberty TO OURSELVES and OUR POSTERITY… do ordain and establish THIS CONSTITUTION… FOR the United STATES OF AMERICA.”

“THIS CONSTITUTION” has limited and enumerated powers delegated for the federal Government. Under Article 1, Section 8, we can only go to war under a Declaration of war passed by Congress, wherein “WE THE PEOPLE OF THE US” send our Representatives to make decisions as regards to those matters.

Most of the Christians have been run out of Iraq since the Americans got involved there. It is an outrage and a permanent shame and stain on the U.S. But what that means is that most likely the people killed described in this article were Muslims and therefore they didn’t sacrifice their lives for anything and they are not in Heaven having rejected Christ and followed the murderer Muhammad and the evil religion he created called Islam.
