Kalamazoo Strippers Had to Get Dressed at Midnight

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — A Kalamazoo club featuring totally nude dancers is being stripped of its right to bare all as part of a deal with the city.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports Friday that performers at Deja Vu will be required as of midnight to keep their bottoms on. That’s when the agreement expires.

Kalamazoo passed an ordinance in 2004 banning full nudity in strip clubs. Deja Vu was grandfathered under the ordinance, but brokered the current deal with the city when it moved from Portage Street to Ravine Road.

Violating the ordinance carries a fine of up to $500 and up to 90 days in jail.

Ok so finally a subject I know a lot about. Yippy! I prefer my strippers keep their bottoms on. It leaves a little something for the imagination. PLUS, girls… some of you got a really a ugly &^&$^. Sometimes I got to turn off the lights to go down town. Yikes.

This is funny, reminds me of a story told to me as a wee lad by an old timer I worked with many years ago. He told how his wife, to get in the mood, would light scented candles and put on some mood music, she had been asking him for the “big favor” for some time and so he thought he might take a candle under the covers to check it all out. In his frightened state he set his bed on fire. This will all ways be burned into my minds eye.

This councilwoman Mary is just mad because no one will look at her bare fat azz. That is just a ridicules statement saying that they are protecting families & kids. I don’t think too many “families” and/or kids just go wondering into the Deja Vu by mistake. This is a case of people sticking their nose in where it doesn’t belong (no pun intended).

As a person that seeks the truth I will sacrifice myself and visit the Deja Vu in Lansing since i’m about 3 miles from there. And report on what might be going on there for the good of all.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL

Who does the local government think they’re protecting? Was there someone in there by accident? I’m sure the blue haired old ladies will sleep better at night knowing they have put a stop to the men folk looking at the female version of “better body parts.”

I don’t know why but these stories really piss me off. Luckily we don’t have to deal with that crap in Atlanta. Atlanta is one of the best cities in the U.S. for strip clubs. I don‘t go nearly as often as I used to but this is a perfect example of Big Brother getting involved in something it shouldn’t! You simply cannot and should not legislate morality. If I wanna stop by an all nude club on my way home from church to grab a burger I should have every right to do so!

This is SW Michigan for ya control the liquor sales days and times, places you can’t smoke even in private business and public places, and now when you have to dress. Holy rolers are all over here and want control as much as the Libs. Out of control government is everywhere and on both sides R and D.

Is there a problem where the girls go out on the street where “Families and Children” are exposed to nudity? There aren’t even windows in the building, so how does the nudity hurt anyone? Lady Councilwoman, if you’re offended, the solution is simple. Just don’t go in there.

Happen to agree…..its an adult club. Everyone that goes in there are adults and they enter the club of their own free will. The building was obviously built for privacy-so you cannot see in.

Your right….you cannot legislate morality. Mary needs to keep on walking and hush the talking.

I live in Kalamazoo. Used to be a great center for music, blues in particular, and still struggles to be. Between all the constantly-rising costs of business taxes, licenses, permits, variances, and other fees at the state, city/municipal/township, county, and federal levels, plus the recent smoking ban to cripple what’s left, many venues for live music have closed.

As far as the push here locally against adult activities of many kinds including exotic dance clubs, the answer is really quite simple:

When it comes to exploiting human weaknesses, racketeering, soaking people for money, and anything obscene or corrupt, the government *hates* competition.
