Atheist Activist Who Threatened to Sue to Stop Texas Nativity Has Become a Christian

Atheist Patrick Greene Becomes a Christian After Fighting Nativity Scene

Patrick Greene (The Athens Review)

This is one of those stories that seems too good to be true. Last month, we told you about Patrick Greene, an atheist activist who threatened to sue over the presence of a nativity scene in Athens, Texas.

Despite his actions against the religious symbol, Christians came together to raise funds for him and his wife to purchase groceries after he fell ill. Now, as a result of the kind gesture, Greene has reportedly announced that he has become a Christian — and that he wants to enter ministry.

It’s only been two months since the atheist was threatening to wage a legal war against the nativity scene in Henderson County. But something changed over the past 60 days. After residents found out that Greene was suffering from a serious eye condition that could lead to blindness and he was forced to retire, Christians‘ kindness transformed Greene’s worldview.

In the end, they offered him $400 for groceries and other needs (atheists raised additional funds). This simple gift, which was given despite ideological and theological differences, apparently caused Greene to re-think his atheistic inclinations. The Christian Post recaps his transformation from non-belief to an adherence to Jesus Christ:

“There’s been one lingering thought in the back of my head my entire life, and it‘s one thought that I’ve never been able to reconcile, and that is the vast difference between all the animals and us,” Greene told The Christian Post on Tuesday, as he began to explain his recent transformation from atheist to Christian. The theory of evolution didn’t answer his questions, he says, so he just set those questions aside and didn’t think about them anymore.

But when the Christians in a town that had reason to be angry with him showed him a gesture of love, he began reconsidering his beliefs altogether. He eventually began to realize that evolution would never have the answer to his questions, he says, and it was at that time he began to believe in God.

“I kind of realized that the questions I [was] asking you just had to accept on faith without doubting every period and every comma,” he said. He later began studying the Bible, both the Old Testament and the Gospels, and also discovered his belief that Jesus is the Son of God.

Greene says his wife, who remains an atheist, is surprised by his conversion. That being said, he claims the two are able to cope with their differences without putting one another down or bashing the other’s beliefs.

Perhaps more surprising than Greene’s conversion — which was unexpected considering his past activism — is his plan to consider entering ministry. The Post reports that he may become a part of a liberal congregation and that he may even start his own chapter of the Rainbow Baptists, a ministry to the LGBTQ community. Greene says that he believes the Bible’s original approach to homosexuality has been altered and that he feels strongly about rectifying it.

The atheist-turned Christian is also hoping he can inspire more people to read the Bible regularly. And he is no longer opposed the nativity scene he originally railed against so vehemently. He penned a letter to the Freedom From Religion Foundation explaining why the group’s views on the matter are incorrect and, as previously reported, purchased a star for the nativity scene.

It seems that turning the other cheek as the Christians did, while showing love can, indeed, have a positive impact.

The angels rejoice as well as Christians, when someone like this becomes saved..However..I hope that he accepts Yahwehs infallible word about homosexuality..I don‘t know what he means by the Bible’s original approach to homosexuality would be..and that he feels it has been altered and wants to change it.. I think the Bible’s aaproach to homosexuality is very clear throughout the Bible.

The thing I don’t like about Acts, and Romans is that they are just inaccurate to throw off the meaning of the Gospels. Because if you give men handouts such is what the government does in that they give people handouts, it actually kills their spirit because they see and feel the reward, but they do not see and feel the labor, and it makes people dependent on the government. Therefore if Jesus actually conducted the miracles as said in the New Testament, and yet people can not see or feel the labor, then it makes them dependent on the government of a church organization. So one should ask themselves did Jesus actually cure diseases, or did he change people’s view-points to where having a disease didn’t matter to them anymore, and like that they were healed?

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12) “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Mathew 5:43-45

I hope that this man’s conversion is genuine – but that’s between him and God…either way the above words from Christ and Paul still hold true.

Two things I want to say. First, I pray for his wife that she be saved also. It is not good to be unequally yolked. He is still a young Christian and has a lot of spiritual growing to do and I would hate for her to hinder that. Also I pray he finds a good church with strong leaders to help him find his way and stays away from the liberal LGT whatever it is. He is starting off on the wrong path and that concerns me. But if he is serious and truly accepted the Lord Jesus we know that it is a process, a growing and learning experience, and God never leaves a work unfinished. He’s got a lot of work to do, but may God Bless him abundantly. This is such a good testimony to Christ, I think God will use him in great ways.

@ITSJUSTIM I have seen people healed through prayer.. I saw one man having cancer and the doctors told him he would die..having an inoperable tumor at the base of his skull..the couple who came to the church meetings who brought this young man to the attention of the church stopped coming..the young man didn’t die for maybe two yrs..and when he did die..the autopsy confirmed that he had died of a virus.. I have seen hands laid upon a person for healing and that person receiving the Holy Spirit..did not care if they were healed for having known the Holy Spirit was in them..I have seen several instances of healing through prayer..and science has proven it.Scientific studieshave proven that people in hospitals who were prayed for without their knowledge faired better that the ones who were not prayed for..

I’m bothered that he said that “the Bible’s original approach toward homsexuality has been altered”… I,too, have read the Bible ( through,5 times in four different translations) and I fail to understand what he’s talking about… Who altered it? God condemed homsexuality in both the Old and New Testaments. But God did say in both Testaments (Deuteronomy and Revelation) that any man who added too or took away from what was written is accursed.

WAYNER and SAWBUCK…you have to understand Greene’s perspective. He was a militant atheist who has now through the works of Christians towards him become a “Christian”. He filters his belief through the liberal world he’s lived in all his life. This is not without precedent…when the Roman Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity…he filterd his belief through this paganism. I don‘t like the fact that Greene is embracing homosexuality and attempting to dilute the teaching of the bible on homosexuality but he’s new to the faith and was immersed in liberalism before hand. He many never abandon his embrace of homosexuality…but his sould has been saved. All we can do is remind him Jesus himself reitered the T’orah in the New Testament and said very clearly that the ONLY union blessed by God is the union between a man and a woman. It’s up to Greene to catch up on that. If he believes the intent of the bile was changed on that..then he’s still clinging to the foolishness he did previously.

While his church of choice leaves much to be desired, it is a step in the right direction. After all, that’s what God expects of us: repentance, faith, baptism, conversion through the Holy Spirit, and perseverance till the end. He doesn’t expect perfection, he doesn’t expect us all to be Moses, but he wants us to try as hard as we can to be better each and every day. No matter what our shortcomings, God has a way of healing and helping us the rest of the way. I rejoice that a man so lost can be found.

Sawbuck – there is still room at the Cross for you – I would like to help you understand how not to fall into the trap of following a false prophet like a Mohammed, Hitler or the next up coming Anti-Christ.

A false Prophet will edify himself to promote a cause or agenda and a true Prophet will edify God! In fact if the Anti-Christ was here today he would promote and support Obama care under that premise that only this man can save you – in fact the devil will lie and may even blame it on the supreme court judges, raciest and Conservatives. None of this edifies God – it only edifies the man saying it.

There is not a man walking on the face of the Earth that can save you – in fact the Bible teaches us that men will always let you down. Jesus will not.

We all will one day account for every word and deed in our life – in the end times the Bible teaches us that many will be deceived by the false prophet – even the wises among us. Ignorance and self gain does not make a man wise – knowing how to tell the difference makes you a wise man.

Patrick Greene, welcome! You’ve taken your first step into a larger world.

May I humbly suggest that before rushing out into “ministry”, that you simply spend time listening to and absorbing the Word of God? Let it speak for itself, and teach you. Sit under a ministry that has been proven by time and preaches the Scriptures boldly.

Give me $400.00, and I’ll believe in god for a day. Evolution aside, religion has and always will be a dependency for the blind, and a windfall for the churches, synagogues and mosques. If there is a god, he/she/it. w ould certainly not want anyone to kneel to another who professes to know the will of said god. Scriptures and fiction have much in common. When man, with limited success, projected himself as a deity and walls and power started crumbling, he had to invent a substitute to manage the gullible masses. The real gods throughout civilized (if you want to call it that) history have been money and power. many of you who profess god as your beacon in this forum, know this to be true because it is what you aspire to.

Turning the other cheek and the sacrificial giving of $400 is real Christianity at work. Too often, even here on this web site, I see so-called professing Christians retaliate with name-calling and other insults. You might score a point that way, but you’ve lost the person, and a person is infinitely more valuable, being made in the image of God. Why can’t we just take Jesus at His word when He tells us to turn the other cheek? Or when He tells us to bless those who curse us and pray for those who use us? It works, because He will make it work.

It‘s not that I don’t believe in the power of prayer–I do. My own mother, after 3 years of going to dialysis 3 times a week, was suddenly told she didn’t need it any longer. The doctors can’t explain it. However, I have doubts about these “scientific studies” you mention that prove “that people in hospitals who were prayed for without their knowledge faired better that the ones who were not prayed for.”

Here’s my problem with that:. How can they know that nobody is praying for someone? There is no possible way for researchers to know that. I pray for people on the other side of the world. They would never know that. Sometimes I pray for people that I lost contact with years ago, and they would never know it, much less a group of scientists. I can look back on periods in my life that I am absolutely certain that somebody had been praying for me, but I don’t know who they were, and I’ll probably never find out this side of eternity.

Prayer is powerful because the God who answers prayer is powerful, and He responds to us. But the very basis of these studies you mention is flawed, so it‘s probably best if you don’t repeat it so you don’t lose credibility for using faulty evidence.

I would hold up on the celebration of this man saying he wants to be a minister. Liberals destroy everything from the inside out. Just look at the state of our country, our government, our schools, public workers industry, and unionized private sectors.

I realize that this has been stated by some, but it needs to be reiterated.

Mr. Greene is still suffering from the underlying sin of atheism. That being the sin of Pride. Atheism uses the “intellect of reason” to conclude that God doesn’t exist, because… the Devine is unobservable; the Devine allows natural disasters; the Devine allows disease; the Devine allows man to commit genocide…. The list of objections goes on and on, but the underlying issue is the pride of intellect. Now, Mr. Greene is committing the sin of pride by not accepting The Word of God for what it is. Jesus Christ didn’t come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it. That which God the Father finds abominable before His eyes remains abominable. If a person recognizes the sin, repents and never commits that sin again, then the sin will be forgiven. Period. It’s that simple. Deeming what is considered by God, as a sin, as being misinterpreted and taught in error by God‘s chosen People is an affront to God’s Spirit which inspired the Prophets to write, say and enact what they did. It places the human intellect above God’s to discern what is right and acceptable to God Himself, which is the Original Sin, elevating one’s self to the level of God.

His liberal views don’t bother me so much, for the moment. It doesn’t mean his conversion isn’t genuine. Everyone has to start somewhere. Everyone brings their preconceived notions with them when they first become Christians. If his conversion is genuine, God will wean him away from them just like He does with the rest of us. (Fortunately for us, He is so much more patient about it than we would be.) Greene will learn in time that we can’t pick and choose what we want to believe.

What does bother me is that he is so quick to decide to become a pastor. Even if he agreed with my views 100%, it would still bother me. Someone needs to point him to 1 Timothy 3:6 where Paul said that an overseer must be “not a new convert, so that he will not become conceited and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil.” I know from experience how true that is. Greene needs a lot of seasoning and has a lot to learn before he’s ready to teach and lead others, so I hope somebody puts the brakes on his plans for now. He can still minister in other areas, and the experience would be good for him.

XYSKALLA, forgive me, but since you didn’t direct this to anyone in general, I would like to respond. If there was proper edifying of Mr. Greene in regards of entering into the Christian faith he would be less inclined to fall into error. In regards to his authenticity of conversion, only God and he knows, we must take it on faith that he means what he proclaims. As for “wean[ing] him away from“ his ”preconceived notions”, how is this to happen? God doesn’t do this in a vacuum. If those of us who have been immersed in their faith in Christ do not speak up to help direct the neophyte, then the foundations of their faith are left to the shifting sands popularism. There are more than just Mr. Greene mentioned in this article. There is the “liberal congregation ” and “Rainbow Baptists”. It isn’t whether he agrees 100% with my views on any matter that counts, but God’s, which is clearly stated in the Bible. If others wish to take issue with what is agreeable and abominable to God, that is their right (free will), but if they state openly what is known to be in error by what is written, then we, as brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, are obligated to inform them of their error. That is what is truly meant as “our brothers keeper”. To quote the article, “Greene says that he believes the Bible’s original approach to homosexuality has been altered and that he feels strongly about rectifying it.” This is no small matter, and needs to be corrected in faith. This is the face of the emerging (no doctrines, no commandments, nothing is really sin if you just believe) “Christianity” . Conversion in the Bible is a turning away from previous ways of thinking and acting not just confessing out loud that there is a God or that Jesus is our savior. Even the Demons admit that there is a God and they tremble but they refuse to OBEY God and they are not “Christians”. The emergent church / emerging “Christianity” says that the ONLY thing necessary to be “SAVED” is to acknowledge God (as if we are somehow doing God a favor by admitting that He exists) Simply acknowledging God does not “SAVE” us. We have to pick up our cross daily and deny ourselves. We have to DIE TO SIN. Anyone who says that they LOVE GOD but does not obey Gods Commandments is a LIAR and does not know God. 1 JOHN 2:3-5 “We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did” Pretty clear, we MUST walk as Jesus did. Homosexuality was not something that Jesus did or approved of. Conversely 1 JOHN 5:2-3 says ” This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burde

      @PaxInVeritate
“Less inclined” doesn’t mean immune. Remember he is a brand-new Christian. God doesn’t zap us with sinless perfection and 100% correct doctrine at the moment of salvation. We all have different starting points, different levels of knowledge, different biases and misconceptions, and we’re all messed up where we start. Greene’s mess is different from your mess, and yours is different from mine, but it’s the same God who takes us from where we are to where He wants us to be. It’s all part of sanctification, and sanctification is a life-long process.

How is God to do it? I don’t know, ask God. How has God sanctified millions of Christians in persecuted nations who have never seen a Bible and are cut off from fellowship with other believers? He’s God, He can do what He wants. He has more methods at His disposal than there are people. It isn’t ideal, but He isn’t hindered by it.

Of course Christians should try to steer him to a better church, it would benefit him greatly. But that wasn’t my point. My point was that we shouldn’t automatically doubt his salvation just because he has a bad choice of churches. He’s brand new and might not know any better, but if he’s genuine, the Lord will take care of that in time. The Lord isn’t done working on him, He’s only just started. If his conversion is genuine, he’s still in a much better place than he was a few months ago, and we should be thankful for that.

Those in a miserable state only wish to bring others into a miserable state, with the false belief that thereby their misery will be diluted. Satan is working overtime in all corners of this world to bring as many to his miserable state as he can – not because he loves them, but because he hates himself.

And I wouldn‘t go so far as saying Hell is being outside of God’s love, but rather immune to God’s influence. God does not hate any of his children (as God is Love, hatred would cause Him to cease to be God), but his children can, by their actions, lose the ability to be influenced by his love. That is Hell.

I don’t trust anyone that converts and immediately wants to enter the ministry. This guy needs to sit down, shut up, and be taught something if he’s sincere. Paul was far smarter and more intelligent than this guy and he himself had to be taught and get his mind right before entering the ministry. If the Bible is the inspired Word of a great living God, then it is the standard by which mankind—including this “picker & chooser”—will be judged.

It all stands or it all falls together. Either the Bible is a book of truth from start to finish—and mankind should tremble before it:

“All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the LORD. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.”(Isa. 66:2)

—or, as Paul wrote to the Romans:

”Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity…. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.”

This rightly describes today’s Apostate Church, and those who tolerate such a man-centered view of Scripture.

HYDRA…the historicity of New Testament is actually startlingly good. At times it’s been ahead of the knowledge of modern historians. Example: Luke mentions Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene in the year AD 27. For a time critics scoffed at it saying that Lysanias was in fact ruler of Chalcis nearly half a century before hand. Until an inscription was found in Greece stating clearly that Lysanias was indeed Tetrarch of Abila (Latin for Abilene) in the time of Tiberius (emperor of Rome at the time of Jesus). Please…enough of your “work of fiction” garbage. The only contention about the New Testament is the supernatural aspects of Christ’s works and later the disciples. As for that..I really couldn‘t give a tinker’s cuss if you believe Christ healed the sick, raised the dead and himself was resurrected and ascended to heaven or not. Empty faith is a worthless thing…kind of like you.

@ AvengerX about history… history is usually written by the victors of any war…. it is not uncommon for what is accepted in modern history to proven wrong by new discoveries cause we only have the information that was passed on to us by the victors. All the history revisions that have came to realign with the bible just proves that the people who wrote the bible lived closer to the time when that history was written. it is plausible that in 1800 years from today people might not believe that catholic priests assaulted and burned hundreds of mayan and aztec shamans and burned all of their literature because they thought it was works of satan…. oh wait that is what happened and we just recently are realizing they burned all their history records too. in 1900 years its plausible that no one will know anything about the holocaust or how the germans tried to take over the world…. there is already people trying to eradicate this information as we speak. Historical proof of a record doesn‘t prove that the fictional part isn’t fiction. see all the cases of Historical Fiction that is out there right now… they are making one about Lincoln being a Vampire Slayer!?! in 2000 years there will probably be people who believe Lincoln is the savior of the human race from Vampires… all praise Lincoln the vampire slayer.

So, now I am VERY confused:

So I’m thinking that he wants to believe the Bible and in Jesus. Great!

So then I learn that he wants to make Christianity more “Gay”, and that sounds strange, but I’m thinking his choice of words, “Rectify” might be a good one.

Then I look up the meaning of the word. Rectify means “To make Straight”.

As I said, I’m VERY confused.

The premise of the fundie atheist remains false. Besides, we have good historical evidence that Jesus was a real man, that he really died, and that his immediate followers very soon after began proclaiming that they had seen him alive after his death and burial. In other words, the origin of the Jesus narrative is the eyewitness testimony of the Jewish men and women who knew and encountered Jesus, not pagan myths. The so-called savior-god stories of ancient myths do not have that kind of evidential credibility. For an introduction to the evidence for Jesus, I recommend:

will the real binge sit down…. Really binge you missed the point.. Historical record being accurate just shows the people who wrote it lived in that day. I can write about the tornadoes that hit Dallas earlier this week, even tell you all about where they landed, when, etc. Give accurate landmarks etc. and set a fictional story in that event. It doesn’t mean its true. You wasn’t there and tall tales are just that tall tales, they inflate and inflate until hundreds of years later a binge thinker came around and believed them. One day people will believe the world was invaded by aliens probably because someone picked up War of the Worlds and believed it was non-fiction. Just cause a bunch of religious fanatics come to town and start preaching to you about a guy who rose from the dead and say they saw it doesn’t mean it was true. He rose from the dead? really? couldn’t he have said a lot better things to keep the whole religion from growing and destroying everything in its path like the plague? It grew so big it has little implosions, splinter groups that attack its own center, not just little cults, but whole religions that just spring up out of some disagreement. The Lutherans, Presbyterians, Mormons, Baptists, etc.

A truth for you: The first to be called atheists were the Christians, because they refused the beliefs of their ancestors, they were persecuted and ridiculed for not following the path of their ancestors. How are you different? Cause of your b

AGNOSTICIAN…you offered a lot of banality and that’s about it. Tell me what “victors” wrote the gospels? Christ and his followers were marginalized and hunted. The infant church was marginalized, scapegoated and hunted. We have Roman records of Roman games lit at night by the burning bodies of Christians impaled on stakes in the arena. If this what you call “history written by the victors” you’re an idiot. And then you go on with poorly formualted conjecture about what history will record in the future. Clearly you have nothing credible to offer.

Let me educate you AGNOSTICIAN…I already addressed the fact that the only real point of contention with the new testament is the supernatural acts of Jesus and later the apostles. The historicity of the bible is quite excellent. To the point where it’s been ahead of the known history/archeological record in some instances. It’s only recently that any physical evidence of Pilate being governor of Judea was unearthed for example…until then we only had Roman historians to base it on…you know..those “victors” you bleated about? And I also stated that don’t care if you choose to believe the supernatural aspects of the new testament or not. Is this draining in at all champ?

ummmm Agnostician….your history needs a lot of work. The infant Christian church was marginalized, scapegoated and hunted throughout the region and Rome. It’s only when Constantine converts to Christianity that the Church is no longer persecuted. Perhaps you’ve forgotten about the barbarian invasions sometime after that? Or the Islamic incursion into Europe that led to the first crusade? Or would you prefer to be speaking Arabic today?

Just like the parable about the seed depending on the soil… will it be blown away, die quickly produce little or a lot of fruit is still to be determined. We need to ask ourselves, how much fruit of the spirit will produce on this day of our lord?

I would have to respectfully disagree. There is no evidence for the existence of Jesus in any shape or form; There are also very similar legends and Gods to the Jesus story as described in the Abrahamnic religions. Jesus is however you mention him. There was no historic Jesus in ancient Palestine.

      Yo Chameleonx:

I checked out you’re sites.( nothing new – same old stuff) There is so much FALSE information there it is amazing. He spends alot of time writing on the injustices of men against one another and blames that on God …. are you the reason for my mis-doings? Jesus came to end ALL that and at His return He will rule, so if injustice is you’re TRUE concern that should be a good thing.

As far as the existance of Jesus: it is a historical FACT that He did indeed live.(outside of the historical writings of the bible) You can question His divinity, but not His existance.

Concerning the “COPYCATS” … (the Greek gods are an certainly known myths.) Satan copycats God on many levels, it is even in the bible… it is meant to decieve those who CHOOSE not to believe … seems it is working on you.

Final: this story is about a group of people that helped their ENEMY, they showed LOVE towards him. How many, many, many, many, many, many, ( I could continue the rest of my alotted characters, but you get my point) instances could be told of the love of people that are believers and the good works that were/are done every day through out the world because of their faith in Christ. You people always seem to forget or ignor that !

The love of CHRIST in these peoples hearts is what changed this man … that is biblical TRUTH.

CHAMELLONX…please..spare us your “Jesus didn’t exist” buffoonery. You’re offering the idiocies of militant atheists, not credible historians. You’re looking like an idiot. No credible historian will deny the existence of the historical figure of Jesus. There is enough secular historical evidence to convince most historians that Jesus did exist without even looking to the four gospels for evidence. Pliny the Younger, Tacitus and Josephus (yes even without the later Christian additions) all clearly refer to an individual either “Christus” or Jesus in context to the events described in the four gospels. I’ll remind you that Tacitus, Pliny the Younger and Josephus are not only secular witnesses but hostile witnesses also. They would have been better served by denying the existence of Jesus but they did not do that. The Roman historian Tacitus wrote: “Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of Pontius Pilatus”. Please CHAMELLONX tell me who else Tacitus may be referring to. This should be hysterical. Go peddle your silly websites at Huffpo where they buy the excrement you’re selling.

Why does it BOTHER you so much that some of us choose to believe in God? Why do you feel that you must force us to believe as you do? Have you ever wondered why it makes you act in such a way? I don’t “believe” in Atheism either, but I recognize your right to hold that belief. Just FYI, you can’t turn a Christian with your hatefulness. In fact, you only strengthen our faith. lol i would never deny that someone walked this earth and was killed for his beliefs… it happens every day… I can even see that people would say that some of the mythology of other systems (the holy word of other religions/gods) were copycat work or deceit… But not respecting the truth is to put blinders on the horse so he can’t see the grass on either side of the road. Many of the stories found in the bible, old testament and new testament are found in other religious systems that predate them. The story of the birth of Jesus would of been a copyright infringement of those who wrote the story of the birth of Ra in Egyptian mythology some 6000 years before Christ. Resurrection stories can be found in Egyptian texts and Hindu texts that predate Christianity. If you rewrote Romeo and Juliet and gave it your own twist would you not give credit to Shakespeare? The bible states a time line of roughly 6000 years but we have written histories of several cultures that predate this time frame. Many of these other histories depict the stories of genesis with their own heroes.

Why do Christians (along with Muslims and several other “Modern” religions) claim singularity in their system alone? Where do the “Ancient” religions get to worship without persecution on all sides by these groups that claim they are wrong, evil,or the work of the devil (many of the ancient religion’s symbols were deemed evil by Roman Catholics 1500 years ago)?

I am open to being convinced that I am wrong. Go ahead; convince me! But If atheist blogtrash like what you posted are your best shot, though, I am fairly confident that you are not going to persuade me or anyone else in the of the “error of our ways.”
As for your asinine claim regarding other gods, well, If I lived in a society in which I encountered a significant number of people who believed in Zeus, I would take the time to examine their belief and determine if there was any evidence for it. Since I live in twenty-first century America, not first-century Greece, I don’t have any pressing need to make a case against Zeus. (That case was made then quite well and does not need to be rehashed, does it?) Certainly, if I went around proclaiming that Zeus didn’t exist, I would be prepared to give reasons for that claim unlike what many militant atheists do today in railing against God.
I should add that it isn‘t quite right to say that Christians demand that atheists disprove God’s existence. Rather, we ask atheists to examine the evidence honestly and see where it leads.

AGNOSTICIAN…“would of been”? Try “would HAVE been” sport. You just used phonetics instead of actual English. I dare say, you’ve spoken the contraction “would’ve” many times but don’t read or write enough to know that even though the contraction “would’ve“ sounds like ”would of” when spoken, it’s not written that way- it’s a contraction of “would and ”have”. I always find it hysterical when a so called “enlightened” atheist attempts to paint christians as lacking in intellect when the atheist can barely communicate at an acceptable level. Then you expect us to accept your atheist rote when clearly you’re not well read on the subject to offer anything credible. In fact..it appears you don‘t read or write much at all or you’d know how stupid it is to write “would of” instead of “would’ve”. Would you accept the word of someone like you at this point? The Post reports that he may become a part of a liberal congregation and that he may even start his own chapter of the Rainbow Baptists, a ministry to the LGBTQ community. Greene says that he believes the Bible’s original approach to homosexuality has been altered and that he feels strongly about rectifying it.
    ________________________________________________________________________________

My question is this…Is he going to teach that homosexuality is not a sin? Because it most surely is.
There are ministries that do outreach to homosexuals to get them out of the lifestyle and there are ones that teach it is not a sin…So which one? It says LIBERAL, so I suppose they will teach that openly gay couples in the Church are OK…Sick.
