Atheists ‘Hijack’ The Blaze’s Adam and Eve Creation Poll — But Why?

PZ Myers and Atheists Hijack Blaze Poll on Adam and Eve and EvolutionOn Tuesday, The Blaze penned a piece that posed the following question to readers: Are some evangelicals beginning to question the existence of Adam and Eve?

As is the case in all of the faith articles we compose, it was our goal to raise the question and then allow our audience to respond accordingly. So, at the end of the article, we decided to include a poll that asks a very simple and related question: How did mankind come about?

Many regular Blaze readers voted. But so did others — people who had a very different motivation for taking the poll.

A group of atheists, after feeling angst about the initial results of the poll favoring God-inspired creation, launched a mini-campaign, spread the word and purposefully “hijacked” the thoughtful poll so that the results landed in their favor (i.e. that humanity evolved without God’s involvement).

It wasn’t long after the poll was posted that something seemed odd with the results and the sources from which they were emerging. In addition to inflated anti-God numbers, we noticed that thousands (more than 5,000 at the time) of responses had come from Norway — an oddity considering The Blaze’s coverage, focus and readership.

Thus, we were forced to close the statistical breakdown to the public and investigate. Below, see the potential choices respondents could opt for:

PZ Myers and Atheists Hijack Blaze Poll on Adam and Eve and Evolution

As you’ll notice, these poll options offered a variety of perspective on the matter. There is even an option for people who are currently unsure regarding whether they believe evolution, God or a mixture of the two spawned humanity. While the poll was quickly compromised, initially (for the first hour or two), the results were not entirely surprising (remember, these polls we conduct are not “scientific,” nor are they nationally representative; we’re simply interested in what our audience thinks about matters of importance).

In the early evening on Tuesday, directly following the polls publication, 75.16 percent of those responding chose the “God created man in present form, as per the Genesis story.” And, 17.52 percent said that “God created man and the universe, but scientific evolution occurred.” Only 4.55 percent chose that “man evolved without God’s creation or intervention.” These numbers were unacceptable to a group of atheists.

The Blaze began to notice the proportions within the poll evolving and changing. Suddenly, the atheistic, “no God” version of creation was gaining steam. As Tuesday progressed and Wednesday came, we realized that something was awry. As it turns out, a prominent atheist and professor of biology at The University of Minnesota–Morris, named Dr. PZ Myers, was behind the statistical changes. On Tuesday, Myers ignited a mini firestorm when he wrote a blog piece entitled, “Glenn Beck has a very silly poll.” It read:

His site, The Blaze, has an article about these crazy conservative Christians who disagree with the mainstream view that there were precisely two people, Adam and Eve, who founded the whole human race. And it has a poll which is going in a predictable direction for wacky Beck. [...]

Maybe we can change some of those numbers around.

He also posted a link to the article on Twitter:

PZ Myers and Atheists Hijack Blaze Poll on Adam and Eve and Evolution

Notice the last part of his blog post. This battle cry was the spark that set the entire change ablaze (no pun intended). Following the post, Myers’ loyal followers (he has a popular blog where he discusses his atheism and he has nearly 74,000 Twitter followers) began posting comments on his blog, clearly highlighting their effort to prevent Blaze readers from participating in the Adam and Eve poll. Their efforts to “hijack” the poll began almost immediately.

At 6:07 p.m. on Tuesday evening (just a few hours after the original Blaze article was posted), a comment by “Spanish Inquisitor” read, “Almost up to 7% in less than 15 minutes.” Here, the poster was commenting on the low support for the “Man evolved without God’s creation or intervention” in the poll, which the group was seeking to change. At 7:52 p.m., another commenter wrote:

Up to 34%. I voted early and often, and posted it on the chat for PET. Rarely vote multiple times but I really dislike Glenn Beck.

As the comments progressed, they made clear the group’s intention to destroy the poll, forcing the results to come up favorable to their own cause.

But whatever happened to making a solid case and then fairly proving it? What was the point of these atheists’ time-sucking exploits?

On Wednesday evening, I had the opportunity to speak with Myers about his anti-poll sentiment and the resulting activity on behalf of his atheist friends. The discussion was intriguing. When asked why he called the poll “silly” and why he asked respondents to “change some of those numbers around,” he said:

“All internet polls are silly. They’re kind of pointless. It was a question to a select audience. You know what answer you’ll get. They’re kind of pointless in that sense…it’s a pointless poll. What we like to do is have a little fun with it…we like to shake them up.” [...]

This is the other thing about this poll…it’s not just that it’s pointless, but it’s kind of a stupid poll. There is a correct answer. The earth is 4.5 billion years old.”

Myers claims that he and his fellow atheists opposed the poll because it “reinforces peoples’ views” and acts as a sounding board. But, when asked how his site — which is geared toward atheists and which has a very narrow scope through which it views a variety of issues — differs from this description, his response fell flat (and it was, frankly, quite condescending):

“People who come to [my] blog are better educated. The comments on The Blaze were appalling. It was incredible how bad the arguments were.”

Although he initially said they (he and his atheist friends) like to tinker with “conservative” polls, he then said that “any” internet poll that the group deems “silly” might be altered in this way. When I mentioned the fact that we saw thousands of responses from Norway (Myers left for Norway today to deliver an evolutionary address), he snickered.

And guess what? If you’re part of the 40 percent of Americans that believe in creationism rather than evolution, Myers thinks you’re an ignoramus. When I asked him his thoughts on national polls that show that his view is in the minority, he said:

“[Some people are] ignorant. Most of the people in this country don’t go out and argue for these ideas. They listen to what their preacher tells them. They accept it as dogma…It is stupid for people to believe in ideas that are counter to the facts.”

While Myers believes that those who fully embrace evolution are “kind of stupid,” he isn’t as disenchanted by those who believe that God played a role in humanity’s creation:

“There are a lot of intelligent people who say that God twiddled his fingers in one species and made them special. There’s no evidence for that, but if you want to believe that, then fine.”

In the end, Myers and I didn’t see eye to eye. I explained my dislike, regardless of opinion on any matter, for purposefully destroying a poll that was intended to explore our readers’ diverse views, while he seemed more focused upon proving that evolution is a viable truth. I explained my belief that, in a democracy, everyone should be free to hold his or her own beliefs, regardless of whether they embrace creationism, evolution or any other form of human formation. His response?

“I would think that in a democracy what you’d been doing would be encourage people to get educated.”

Sometimes, one simply cannot win.

We agreed, then, to disagree and moved on. In the end, the actions taken on atheists’ behalf did little to ignite a conversation. They were simply “silly” (not to steal a word from Myers’ own blog post). But, we wanted to bring you the full story and all of the facts on the matter. Below, watch Myers deliver a speech at the 2010 Global Atheist Convention:

So, what ended up happening with the poll, you ask? As mentioned, we made the decision to close the results to the public until we had the chance to investigate them further. This was not done to hide anything, as Myers’ adherents have claimed. Rather, we wanted to conduct a poll that showcased the views of The Blaze audience. Now that the poll has closed, allow me to showcase the end results:

PZ Myers and Atheists Hijack Blaze Poll on Adam and Eve and Evolution

The atheists involved were able to take the 75.16 percent God-inspired proportion and transform the poll to show 85.05 percent of respondents agreeing with their take — that God had no involvement in the formation of mankind. Considering national polls (though, again, we weren’t attempting to create a nationally-representative poll in the first place), this is, of course, totally unrealistic on every level. In the original piece, we wrote:

More recent (2010) Gallup data shows 40 percent of the nation embracing the notion that God created man in his current form, with only 16 percent claiming that God played no part in the process of creation. While the scientific and Christian communities continue to grapple with internal disagreement, it seems the creationists are thus far winning the PR war.

In the end, more than 46,000 votes were cast in The Blaze poll (though there were many repeat voters, obviously, in this first category). And, here’s a pie chart that more visually shows the breakdown:

Atheists can’t be fair about anything they do, so they resort to illegal measures or measures that are not right. Anyone who believes in the original Genesis story doesn’t really care if the poll was hijacked. We already voted and I doubt that if we believe firmly in Genesis, the atheists cannot persuade us otherwise. Just another cheap trick that proves nothing for them. Hey atheist: if you are right and I am wrong, then I have lost nothing. If I am right and you are wrong, then you will lost everything.

This group sounds just like all other leftist groups who encourage and inspire debate and discussion. To hear both sides of the argument and have peaceful debate.Oh wait, no leftist group works like that. They all preach about coming together, spawning debate, ending rhetoric, and eliminating hate speech yet all these groups do is force their opinions and ideals down your throat, could careless about your thoughts and position on any given subject, they HATE debate, all they do is push rhetoric and spew hate speech. Its both amusing and frustrating.

I just don’t understand why you would have to sabotage a poll or even care about a poll. Everything in life no two people see or feel the same way about. That’s what makes this world girl. My grandmother always told me that it takes all kinds to make this world. Its time to accept other peoples opinions and thoughts regardless of how outlandish or ludicrous you feel their opinion is. To me it just sounds like way too much effort to sabotage a poll that at the end of the day, doesn’t change the 75% of people who originally voted for believing in God creating the universe. So what now you can tote around to all your friends that you helped sabotage a poll? Its not like the poll was scientifically accurate to portray that Blazers are atheists.

Sounds to me like a bunch of wasted effort and people with too much time on their hands.

This is really the “blaze”’s fault for allowing multiple votes. I am really not sure who their web developers are but they need fired. Commenting is bad, polls aren’t even remotely secured(meaning only for multiple votes) and there is this lovely mobile version of the site. Commenting on that is pathetic and I am FORCED to the mobile version with no link to the desktop version. And I love the occasional ads that start playing video, especially the non-muted ones, on page load.

There‘s one option that’s missing, and that is God created man according to the Genesis story but did so using an evolutionary process. Under this concept, it’s not that Genesis is wrong but that the common exegesis has been incorrect and that the word “day” as a 24-hour period is a misconception and that “period” or “era” is a better interpretation. The New Testament says that a day to God is a thousand years to man, and even that isn’t necessarily literal but under Hebrew numerological conception can simply mean “a very long time.” God wasn’t giving Moses a science lesson when he relayed the creation, so it was kept simple and at an intellectual level meant for consumption by the Children of Israel. The important spiritual point is “Who,“ not the details of ”how.” Furthermore, the requirement that we live by faith is reinforced since God did such a great job of covering His tracks when stretching the creation out over eons of time. This all being said, I can say as a scientist that the minutia and details of evolution dating millions and billions of years old reported by evolutionary biologists is complete nonsense. In that regard, even they must take their findings on faith.

Hagee believes the Jews will burn in a lake of brimstone:

“The Jews have no greater friend, the audience is told, than John Hagee, even though the book he wrote, prominently advertised on the church’s parking lot marquee, predicts they will perish in a lake of brimstone at Armageddon.

The line for the Night to Honor Israel started forming outside the church even before the doors were scheduled to open. The atmosphere is festive, and people are filled with anticipation. But the party they are looking forward to is not taking place inside the church, where the Cornerstone Choir sings “Hava Nagila Texas Style!” and where, in a video montage of Jerusalem, the Dome of the Rock magically disappears. Rather, the anticipation is for the Second Coming, when, Hagee has said, Jesus will sit “right there on that Temple Mount” and rule the world.

In its short history, Hagee’s grassroots movement, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), has become the most visible organization of American Christian Zionists. Hagee launched the organization in February 2006, just a month after the release of his book Jerusalem Countdown, which became a best seller. In the book Hagee asserts that an American and Israeli war on Iran is not only biblically prophesied but necessary to bring about Armageddon and the Second Coming, a theme that drew four hundred pastors and Christian leaders to San Antonio to the inaugural meeting of his Christian Zionist organization.”

There is another option that is missing and pratically never even considered. That God, the universe and us are all eternal. That “in the beginning” refers to the creation of this earth and references to “the heavens” refers to our view of it. That “created” means formed out of existing material not brought into existance out of nothing.

The only thing that makes sense is that the universe and everything in it are eternal in duration and infinite in quantity. That means no universal big bang and no evolution. No beginning and no end. Just eternal creation and progression.

The Bible is man made and the proof is that “GOD” never taught these primitive peoples to treat women as equals. Throughout the Bible, women are not equally involved in positions of power, only men, and Jesus never addresses this injustice. Nor does “GOD”. There are commandments and rules given to beat the band, but nothing is said about womens’ right to participate equally in society, as they do in today’s world, very successfully. This is a major flaw and proof that a higher power was not involved in any of the writings of the Bible. An all-knowing all powerful divine being would have corrected this from the start. It was not done, because there is no GOD.

      Things like this are sad.

First, polls are garbage. We are reminded of this everytime CNN, MSNBC, or most other leftist news media post one that tells us how much of the country is still in love with OBama. The fact that the blaze would then use one, targeted to a faith based audience is depressing. Of course polls like these are going to skew the results. Unless you can poll every individual in the country using simple wording, then all your poll shows is a sampling of your viewership, not society as a whole.

As for poll hijinks, look at how many polls say Ron Paul is going to win the white house during this and the last election. That’s part of the reason they are so faulty.

Next, Atheists like that professor irritate the heck out of me. It is men like that who through their non-belief feel they can then elavate themselves to god status that give the rest of us sane Atheists a bad name. To me there are 2 forms of Atheist. 1) Those who deny God and elevate themselves and 2) those who deny God yet still see just how small we are in the Universe. Don’t condemn us all because of the actions of fools like this who like to believe they are more than they really are.

And God breathed life into his Creation and man became a living soul. He specifically chose man as being a distinct creation.

I’m one of those few who follow Beck, but am very non-religious. Not necessarily atheist… more of a mix of agnostic-atheist. Anyways, I didn’t find this poll to be “pointless”. I found it interesting to see how many “followers” of Beck think the way I do. Many of you may initially question the very idea of me being a “real” supporter of Beck and what he stands for… but I assure you I am. I love learning about religion, and regardless of whether one believes in God or “A God” has no bearing on the fact that the idea of “God” is tremendously important.

This group of atheists should be ashamed. I was genuinely curious about how the poll would end up, but they decided to taint the poll results with their own self-centered sense of pride and purpose. The lack of respect in our opposition never stops surprising me.

Wish I could be in Israel with Beck, but I lack the financing as a College student. Still, best of luck to you all, and have a nice day!

I have listened to Beck for years. I think he is a patriot. I think most of what he says about the left (Van Jones, Obama, etc.) are probably their true feelings and intent.

I have watched Beck’s two shows (CNN & Fox). I found him harder to take on the shows. I have watched him move more and more toward a religious perspective over the last couple of years.

I have always voted Republican, and intend to do so in the future.

However,… I am not a christian anymore. I lost my faith years ago. No one did anything to me, and I don’t have bad stuff to say about church or christianity.

Simply, I just found my belief in the bible to wane as I became older. I grew up in the church. My parents went, so I went. I believed in the things that my parents believed, and I did so because I respected them.
However, I always felt that I couldn’t work out in my mind the stories in the bible. They really weren’t plausible. The more I thought about it, the more I couldn‘t help but admit I wasn’t believing. I was saved “born again” baptised at one time.

I just read a book about Scientology and I swear that all religions have their implausible stories, but the basis of religion is faith. Faith conquers doubt. However, when I read about Scientology, I cannot believe people have faith in the non-sense. For some, christianity has the same type of non-sense.

For me, I just don’t believe. I’m not going to bash christianity.

@NES The Day Age theory is a way to “soften” the way God created all you see. If God created the heavens and the earth in the first place He then is an all powerful God and would be easily able to create it in 6 literal 24 hour days. Furthermore why would He lie to Moses and tell him it was just literal days so that way he could understand it? Henry Morris states it as such: Whenever the writer really intended to convey the idea of a very long duration of time, he normally used some such word as olam (meaning “age” or “long time”) or else attached to yom an adjective such as rab (meaning “long”), so that the two words together yom rab, then meant “long time.” But yom by itself can apparently never be proved, in one single case, to require the meaning of a long period of time, and certainly no usage which would suggest a geologic age (1974, p. 223 http://www.apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=9&article=391 ) Also quoted from the same website: “Second, Genesis 1:14 is instructive on this matter: “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and for years.” If the “days” are “ages,” then what are the years? If a day is an age, then what is a night? In other words, the whole passage becomes ridiculous when one attempts to “reinterpret” the word “day.”

May I just point out that there isn’t a conflict between the timeline of creation in Genesis, and the current theoretical scientific timeline for the formation of the universe. The Bible does not attempt to explain the details of how the universe functions, so why should we expect it to read like a manual on modern physics, biology, and chemistry? It is presented in such a way that anyone who can read or listen can understand its message.

      Blazers,

What this fiasco should illustrate to all of the readers here are two things:

A.) The level of maturity and bigotry that exists within the atheists’ ranks.

B.) The futility and ridiculousness of TheBlaze’s reader polls.

These reader polls are not scientific for many reasons, one of which they are easily “hijacked”. I’ve seen Conservatives do the same to other news websites. The reason that many of us are here is to escape the “echo chamber” of the mainstream media. It does not help us to reproduce our own echo chamber. Why does the TheBlaze conduct these reader polls? To reaffirm our own beliefs? To convince ourselves that the vast majority of the people believe, lockstep, just as we do? Just some things to ponder.

They absolutely have to believe that evolution is true because their world view is tightly wound up in it. That’s why liberals (often atheists) push evolution so much because in their minds liberalism and socialism are the evolution of our culture and government. That, in there minds, is why it’s superior and the rest of us are idiots or nuts and not even worthy of a dialog. If evolution is false, then liberalism and socialism can’t be an evolutionary progression on the road to collective salvation.

Lofty words and sentiments for a view and system that demotivates, devalues and hurts people. They get to decide who has value in the new order of things, their form of natural selection since they are intellectually superior and the rest of us are sub-human. (Whoops! The Gould and Darwin school of abstract conjecture, hilarious theory, surrounding purple dinosaurs (which has an apt connotation later for your idea of morality), and lucy. It perhaps is true that your relatives are inbred half breeds between fallen angels and the daughters of men that they raped. Isn’t ad hominem fun?

The purple dinosaur comment is a direct rebuttal to your wrong idea of what constitutes morality. Accepting immorality does not constitute being moral, it constitutes the 2-step immorality, which is meta-ethics. That is completely contrary to the basis of morality. If they so deeply believed that there was no God and that what this idiot Myers is saying then they would have no trouble debating the beliefs. The only way that I can see to cause them to be that afraid is because they know that what they are spouting is a lie and that there is no way to support their theory. Therefore, they resort to what they do best is to try and vilify, degrade and diminish what the subject is. We all know what that is, it is also the typical liberal wacko method of debating anything. Neither group can support their obviously incorrect theories so they degrade and accuse the other side of wrongdoing and everything else in the book that they can come up with just to avoid the debate.

alright, look… personally I don’t believe in religion as a concept itself… but to most people, that makes me athiest… to me, it doesn’t, because athiesm is a religion in itself…

but to me, creationism and evolution aren’t mutually exclusive…

They just deal with different questions… creationism asks “why”, while evolutionism asks “how”.

We’re not all going to believe the same way on either front, either. Who is right and who is wrong? None of us will ever know for generations come, and I’m perfectly comfortable with that fact.

Having intelligent debate about it tho, is much preferable, to the state of the creationism/evolutionism war that just keeps going on and on and on and on and on in a never-ending slugging match that serves no purpose and brings nothing to the conversation.

i agree and more. i was mad at God for a while and entertained athiesm. i thought about where to start my search for purpose of life, the basic structure of everything is the atom. i started there…electromagnetic charge of an atom and the resulting repulsion is literally what keeps us from becoming one with the universe, and keeps us physically intact. (think about this on an atomic level a hug is as intimate as sex.) in psalms it says that the universe sings praise to God, vibrations create sound, the electrons spin around the nucleus of the atom, we know that everything in existance has atomic structure, this is just one example of how athiests are so narrow minded that a summer breeze can make their head whistle. and they try to paint it as im the one with the IQ three digits above a houseplant. they arent only scared, they are narrowminded as well.

I really do laugh out loud when I hear a so called atheist run their wannabe monkey jowls. They think they are smart, when in reality they are halfwit. They reject out of hand the concept of God, and the importance of religion because it allows them to fashion a false sense of morality. That morality is no morality because absence of religion removes morality from the table of options. The can claim to be ethical to the degree that it doesn’t become an imposition on others, ie, not absolute. Without absolution there can be no morality except in a contrived facilitation of definition absent religion, which is the epitome of absolutes.

Thus, if an atheist claims to be open minded toward all, they condemn themselves as liars for the simple reason they reject God and the opinions of His followers. This doesn’t make them unbelievers in even the metethical position they peddle to others.

But what makes them halfwit? Because they only know half the story. They don’t know Gods side, and reject His people. They aren’t atheist at, they are anti-God, and live a life of no absolutes, and have no moral compass to guide them. Perversion, homosexuality and hate is their entire platform. Truth becomes a shifting sand and becomes discretionary. This is profoundly evident out of the School of Biology at Harvard University where Gould violated Sciences pursuit of truth, by changing empirical evidence to pacification theology.

@MMR – It’s because within the 4% of self-proclaimed atheists that make up the population of the United States, many of you (like the aforementioned Ms. Cupp) simply don’t believe, which is of course your prerogative, though after much study, I disagree with you. Let’s refer to you as a “lower-case atheist”.

On the other hand, most self-identified atheists are “capital-A Atheists” and tend to be your socially-backwards evangelical types who simply can‘t stand that people don’t buy into their particular brand of faith. If you find an atheist trying to hijack a religious poll, abuse a saltine, or complain about a cross that’s been sitting on a piece of forgotten government-owned land five states away for over 100 years, you can bet it’s a “capital-A” type. It’s this latter description that typifies the cowardly Mr. Myers and his godless zealots.

adherents of evolutionism have no evidence at all for vertical evolution they use the misnomer of micro-evolution just so they can “say” evolution is a scientific fact. it actually is nothing more than variation among species – a conservative process and not an innovative one. it is HORIZONTAL, limited, and bi-directional (goes back and forth) – the critter remains the same critter, not something new and of a higher order of complexity – which is stasis.
besides, naturalistic evolutionists must admit that their lives are purposeless and meaningless; they are a freak cosmic accident and are a compilation of genetic mistakes (mutants) they have no inalienable rights; and they spend their lives of vanity trying to convince others that their lives are insignificant, too. what a ridiculous religion that is!

Atheists do not want to feel as they are under the control of an almighty God, so they believe a lie and subject themselves to the control of undermighty Man. Atheists try to tell us that “God was created by man so man could control man”…..but I suggest – greater control is exerted over those who are “under” the spell of liars and deceivers who appear to offer a better option. It is easy to see how they manipulate people – “If we can convince the masses that evolution is an absolute fact, we can convince of them anything.” And I closing, just as there are many evolutionary hoaxes, the only way atheists can convince others that evolution is a fact and God didn’t create is by manipulating the truth just as they did in this poll.

Wow. I am a big fan of The Blaze but this has made me lose some respect for the site. I am an atheist and I am absolutely content and happy with my stance on that issue. I am also a libertarian who disagrees with almost everything socialists/communists/marxists/the left in general believes, as well as plenty (but not nearly all) of what the mainstream right/GOP/RINOs believe. I cannot believe the level of anti-atheist sentiment here, you should be ashamed of yourselves for your intolerance. I have no problem whatsoever with anyone of any faith – each to their own – but it seems there is plenty of anti-atheism amongst The Blaze’s readers. I knew that there was a religious majority of sorts here, but I hadn’t realised how much they hated me even though I shared a lot of their views and stand by them regardless of faith or lack thereof.

I have no idea who PZ Myers is and I don’t care, he sounds like an unsavoury character to me. I also dislike Dawkins and other prominent atheists. I am no leftist. Basically, I believe EVERYONE should be free to believe what they want, without being judged as stupid or immoral for their beliefs. It seems a lot of you religious folk are rather intolerant of those who don’t agree with you, which is a very leftist stance to take.

Of course evolution is bogus. So are the preposterous notions that infectious diseases are caused by microbes, rather than “influences” and “bad humors”; that earthquakes are caused by shifting tectonic plates, rather than god getting angry and shaking the earth to remind us of our sins; that there are other planets out there, rather than just this one, and that Earth circles the Sun, when we all know that it’s the other way round. After all, the bible tells us all these things, and scientists are just godless sinners who will go to hell for suggesting such things.

The atheist religion is not unlike other religions. It takes faith to believe that matter came from no where. That a single cell could figure out what to do next in it‘s ’evolution’: How did the 1st cell know how to divide? How did it know how to grow say, legs, fins, eyes, a brain, a nervous system & so on all by it’s self with no out side influence? How did it come to exist in the 1st place? Where did the solar system come from?

It takes more faith to believe that every thing came from nothing & progressed into the eco-systems, variety of life, that it’s an accident the sun is just so far form the earth…all this with no outside influence.

Atheists have their own ‘bibles’, their own ‘church’ groups & ministers of their own, like the foolish man who runs the site that attacked the polls. They proselytize, as the man & his site demonstrate.

I would love to hear how this guy explains First Cause…that should be a gas!! :-) Which he is full of.

Just did a brief search on 1st cause. All I could find was tap dancing around the issue.

Ball is your court Mr. Atheist. You tell us where the physical matter came from that is the universe we live in. If there is no God, then how did matter come to be? It was just there & some how formed into a balance of mathematical perfection? Where did the math come from? How did the 1st cell know what to do next? How did the planet the 1st cell was on come to be?

Riddle me those Mr. Atheist, I am very cur

“Christianity is strongest when it promotes critical analysis of every aspect of its belief. Atheisism is strongest when all no critical analysis of its tenets are outlawed as has been done in our public schools regarding Evolution.”

This is absurd. You can call atheism a religion all you want, but it simply isn’t. Christianity isn’t about critical analysis; if you critically analyze or question the doctrine, you burn in hell – that’s what children are taught to keep them on your straight and narrow path of ignorance. Islam is the same.

When you refer to the religion of atheism, what you’re talking about is the scientific method, and I assure you, when ideas are absurd or lacking evidence, they eventually disappear from the scientific community. Evolution has been proven many, many times over, and it would be incredibly easy to disprove – and not by lying, like Kent Hovind and Ken Ham. Yet no one has done it. How odd!

Christians: stop using language like “I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist”, because it’s simply a lie. You’re willing to accept a two-thousand year old story based on hearsay, most of it written by a man who lived long after Jesus was dead (Saul of Tarsus), and the two historical accounts – Matthew and Luke – contradict each other many times.

Atheists just want to keep asking questions, rather than assuming they’ve all been answered. That doesn’t take any faith, and if you think it does, you should open a dict

Question:Atheist ‘Hijack’ The Blaze’s Adam and Eve Creation Poll — But Why?

Answer: Because Satan is not a creative creature. It’s a rip off artist posing as a power for good.

And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. 2 Corinthians 11:12-15

      Simpletruths:

      1. There was no creativity involved. It was childish in the extreme, vengeful and ignorant. It’s amazing how people with limited intelligence cannot handle seeing people believe differently than they do. It scares them.

      2. They don’t have to believe in Satan for him to exist. That’s the entire point. It doesn’t matter what anyone believes, it doesn’t change the fact of whether God and/or Satan exist. If they do, then atheist are willing pawns of Satan.

Many well-educated, intelligent humans believe in God. Why? Because they are able to stand back and look at the facts without preconceptions. When done so, the facts for intelligent design far outweigh those for accidental, spontaneous design due to the high complexity of results. We can all understand why someone like Hawkins doesn’t believe in God, his obvious anger at his human situation prevents him from acknowledging the one he blames. But why others?

It is beyond my understanding why scientist continue to stick to theories that have 1) been proven false, 2) continually change due to new evidence (meaning the theory remains false), or 3) are flawed. Yet, we see this with the theory of evolution, which has been debunked on numerous occasion. Unfortunately, the average citizen does not hear the truth because mainstream scientists refuse to publish the evidence, threaten those scientist that discovered the evidence, and continue to bury the evidence in an attempt to continue to push a flawed

You will lose the support of folk like myself when you make them feel unwelcome due to their atheism.

Folk like “10thamendment” are no better than those they decry. He claims we atheists have no knowledge of religion, he claims there is no morality with god, he calls us “god-haters” (why would we hate things we do not believe exist?), he calls us “halfwits” and yet he writes with the condescension, ignorance and arrogance matched only by people like Obama, Reid and Pelosi. He clearly knows as little about us as he does the god he thinks he knows. I care not to point out the myriad of inconsistencies and hypocrisies in his dogmatically indoctrinated perception of morality.

But hey, if you want to believe that the world just poof, exploded out of nothing and that life just poof, magically began (both scientific impossibilities) and over billions of years all the different creatures evolved themselves to what they are today, you have that freedom to do so. But if you do, then you have to believe that from one organism that somehow had to survive millions of years it “decided” to start multipling and “becoming” other things. But during that time, how it survived until it decided to start “changing” to survive? Also, it went from splitting to reproduce to becoming creatures that were able to reproduce by being male & female and producing sperm/eggs that wow, poof, when they came together, they produced another one of them! So, not only did creatures have to evolve, a male and female had to evolve simultaneously, identically while having their sperm/eggs evolve with them. Can science reproduce that? Which brings up another question. We supposedly started out as fishlike creatures that laid eggs. Somehow mammals “evolved” to be able to carry their babies. Since evolution supposedly takes millions of years for the changes to accure, how in the world did that happen? Was the baby 1/2 in 1/2 out for 2 million years? Last point, there should be 1000′s of “missing links” due to all the evolving creatures. Where are they? But again, you are free to belie

How insecure atheists are. They can’t just stand on their beliefs but feel the need to force them on others. Why should they care if most of us believe in God? Why? Because our faith makes them question their beliefs and they can’t handle the idea that they might not be as smart as they think. Sad indeed.

@American Soldier Seperated – That threat does not come from Christians, it is a promise from God. The problem with athiests, is that when they close their eyes and night, and are all alone with their thoughts, they know there is an eternal God. They attempt to discredit him, force others not to speak of him, prevent children to pray to him, but they can not make him go away. You are his creation, and you will answer to him one day. The light of the gospel is in every man (you included). How many drunks got their life right through athiesm? How many drug addicts, protistutes, gamblers, abusers…. got their life right by turning to athiesm. Us not so perfect people need a perfect God. I can not count the number of folks I know that were on the bottom, and turned to God (of the Bible), and now are respectable and decent people (but not perfect like the athiests). I attend an old fashioned Baptist church that is defined by its missionary support. We support missionaries the world over, and in our own back yard. We feed the poor, bus in the fatherless, help the widows… It is a lighthouse for the down and out. What does atheism offer these people?

I have seen hundreds of times someone attempting to shame or guilt others into beliving in god.
There are 9 religous channels on tv spreading your gospel
There are ZERO athiest channels sperading thier belife.
Whos the one constantly spending time and money attempting to prove they are right?

Are you telling me that athiest did not take up a crusade in the 60s to stomp God out of just about every aspect of American life? I do not mock athiest, I feel sorry for them, and hope they see the light (literally). I pray for them, and am more than glad to take them into my home, eat with them, take them to my church. @Beckisnuts… my apologies, but I notice one gaping discrepancy in your posts about how believers are deceived and how we would all be much better off freed from gullibility and confusion and whether or not we will enter heaven. You make me smile.

Let us say, hypothetically, that God does exist. If so, and IF the Bible is right, if a true believer has a personal relationship with Christ, and God, then they would be given a sense of ABSOLUTE peace, contentment and grace that only the most powerful being in the universe can give. It is not given to everyone. If you have never felt the gift that God has given, how can you deny that it could have happened to other people? (Certainly not to all that claim to be Christians)
If you have never known it, it does no credit to your character to deny other people what they themselves know in their heart, mind and soul has happened to them, and truthfully? It only serves to lessen yourself in front of those who have seen Christ. To those who do not believe, He does not exist. He has nothing to do with their lives whatsoever. God does not control our lives. We are free to make our own choices. If our choices please Him, then He makes himself known to us. If not, then there is No reason at all for Him to see us, if we do not see him.
If we do not believe he can bless us, He won’t.

If we do not believe He can punish us, then He won’t.
(At least not in this life).

Though the comments here…wow… Too many of you immediately point fingers at the left and get very hostile when it comes to religion, let me remind you though, we have freedom of speech and religion in this country. If you can not handle criticism to your religion and can not articulate a counter-argument you should just stay out of the conversation. TXN4Justice,
You are mistaken if you believe that atheists have no faith. The atheist‘s relation to religion is like a vegetarian’s relation to eating. The term “vegetarian” tells you what a person does not eat, not what he does eat. Similarly, the term “atheist” tells you what a person does not believe in as divine (God), not what he DOES believe in as divine. For example, the ancient Pythagoreans believed that numbers were divine and even had a prayer to the number 10. They were atheists who also held a religious belief in something as divine. Materialism is another example of a religious belief that does not believe in a God/god.

We dont care what you think, We think you are nuts. To us its as if you think micky mouse could be your creator. We think you waste your time and efforts attemping to ensure your placement in “heaven”. Do not call the lack of belife a religon.
We look at you in pity. The same pity you would have for someone who has been swept up in a ponzi scheme, they got there because of thier own greed. Your greed is to ensure your passage to a “better” place. And the fear of you being wrong scares you. Im not scared of “standing before the altar” beacuse there is none. And if there were I think he would like me more because I lived a good life without the fear of “hell” over my head. I did it because it was the right thing to do, You do it to save your butt. I should clarify. What I meant to say is that you are mistaken if you think that atheists have no religious belief. While an atheist professes to not believe in God, and I don’t doubt him, the profession of that disbelief in no way describes his fundamental presupposition regarding the foundation of ultimate realty (the divine) – and THAT is a religious belief that guides the way each individual views and interprets the world he lives in; it’s not unusual for a person to be unaware of such a belief on a conscious level, much less to be able to articulate a considered, detailed position on the subject.

We can debate this till the end of earths time but the truth is that there is so much more evidence that God exists and has a plan then any other theory or religion. I firmly believe that the bible is 99.9% true and factual and if you look hard enough you will began to see all the signs that Jesus is the only way and we should look to the good book and follow gods commandments. It comes down to this all you atheists you can either believe now or later. Say two men die and one is a true follower and the other an atheist. If god is real the atheist goes to hell but if god is not real then the christian spent his life in a way that was not wasted and lived a life showing others how to live a pure and meaningful life. This comes down to the atheist burns and the christian says that sucks where is god. Who has more to risk??? Who IS “PZ Myers”? Those who know first hand have this to say:

“PZ’s post reads like it was written by an intemperate teenager in the midst of a hormonal rage. Among other things, he calls De Dora “witless,” “wanker,” “wishy-washy,” and “sloppy-thinking”; he accuses Michael of engaging in “cowardly intellectual dishonesty” and of using a “quisling” approach…

If PZ thinks that this sort of language belongs within any thoughtful writing about rational discourse, he really needs to look up the dictionary definitions of rational, thoughtful and discourse. Then again, it is precisely this sort of theatrics that apparently makes him so popular, as nothing gets people’s attention on the internet so much as shouting as LOUDLY as possible, regardless of the vacuity of what one is actually saying.”
