Atheists Launch ‘Naughty, Not Nice’ Holiday Campaign to Target Discrimination Against Non-Believers

Non-believers are ready to cut through the cheer this holiday season with an in-your-face ad campaign aimed at stemming discrimination against those who don’t place credence in a higher power.

The American Humanist Association’s new campaign, which was announced today, features messages that highlight the fact that some atheists and non-believers feel mistreated by the masses. Billboards and newspaper ads proudly proclaim, “Bias Against Atheists is Naughty, Not Nice.”

American Humanist Association Launches Naughty, Not Nice Holiday Campaign

While atheists and the religious go back and forth in their debate over what God’s role in society should be, many non-believers contend that they, being such a small minority, are treated poorly as a result of their lack of faith.

“Nonbelievers in America continue to be the object of discrimination,” Roy Speckhardt, executive director of the American Humanist Association, said in a press release. “We hope this campaign will spur a conversation about this problem that moves us in a positive direction.” The web page setup to promote the campaign echos this sentiment:

The phrase “Bias against atheists is naughty, not nice” is the main focus of this year’s campaign. Because of continued acts of discrimination against atheists in American, the AHA is attempting to bring attention to the problem and spur a conversation that will move us forward.

While Speckhardt claims that atheists are unfairly encountering “hatred” for their urge to advocate for separation of church and state, many religious adherents believe that non-believers take their opposition to religion too far. Additionally, some contend that atheist groups misread the First Amendment to mean that they must purge public forums of all references to faith.

“Many humanists and atheists in America experience hatred in their own communities when simply standing up for the separation of church and state, or fighting for other rights that should be afforded without question,” Speckhardt was quoted in the release.

The newspaper ads being placed by the group capture stories about atheists who have been called names and belittled as a result of their opposition to prayer and religion in the public square. The AHA claims that the group was turned down for billboard placements and newspaper ads in numerous towns.

“From past experience we knew that ad space is not always easy to obtain for groups with a secular message,” Speckhardt explained. “But the refusal to accept an ad with a simple and friendly reminder that prejudice is ‘naughty,’ is disheartening.”

According to the group’s press release, a bus campaign will also be unveiled in Washington, D.C. The messages on it will read, “Don’t Believe in a God? Join the club,” as a group of people in Santa hats give a thumbs up.

American Humanist Association Launches Naughty, Not Nice Holiday Campaign

Last year, the Blaze reported on the AHA’s holiday advertisements, which seemed even more inflammatory. Meredith Jessup wrote, “A number of the planned advertisements pluck scripture passages out of the Old Testament in an attempt to frighten impressionable women and homosexuals.”

One of the ads read, “’The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open.’ (from Hosea 13:16, New International Version).”

The ads this year, though some may disagree with what they claim, seem a bit less inciting.

    They wouldn’t dare attack Muslims
    who would end the issue
    with someone losing their head….

Jesus Christ is coming and he will settle all of this.
The real question is, which side will YOU be on the very moment he comes?

Deny Him here on earth and he will deny you to the Father in Heaven.

He is in controll, but no where in the Holy Bible does it say NOT TO VOTE THEM OUT!

For a belief system that does not believe in God or Jesus, they sure are infatuated with it… I would assume if you do not believe in something, one would not care.

My Conclusion: *** WOW… Atheists sure do put a lot of effort and money in ridding of something that does not “exist”…..***

So they don’t like to be discrimated against? Simple solution, shut up and keep you opinions to yourselves. When you flaunt you right to not believe, you are asking for it and deserve it. And this solstice, winter, whatever you want to call it, get over yourself, you create your own bed, lie in it. Merry Christmas everyone and if you store posts Happy Holidays…good luck with that. I am only shopping in stores with Christmas Trees and Merry Christmas. I have boycotted stores for three years now. Do the math, I spend about 1200 per year over that time and ain’t going to PC BS of Happy Holidays. If you don’t like our god, don’t celebrate it.

I don‘t believe in leprechauns yet for the exception of this post I can honestly say that I don’t tell many people about my disbelief, I don‘t get together with other people who do not believe and I sure don’t spend any money trying to find like minded people so I can wage a PC campaign about treating non believers with respect. For a group that is anti religious they sure approach it with a fair about of religiosity and have a very vocal group of zealots on their side. Odd really.

I am always intrigued with the fixation of God and Jesus and the denial of both! Instead of having a “Pro-humanist” agenda (if there is such a thing) there is an extreme “anti-God” agenda. Tells me they know it to be true and they are rebelling against daddy and trying to be cool while they do it. I think they are all still fighting growing up! Me thinks the athiests protest too

What’s naughty and not nice is their constant attacks on Christianity and fight to suppress it in the name of their so-called “non-inclusive” feelings. Their religion is to destroy Christianity. Not Islam….just Christianity. Fine if they don’t believe, but understand this, me telling you to get out of my face when you demand that I stand silent is not discrimination–it’s a cold hard fact you need to live with. Your free speech is not better than mine. Live and let live or get out of my face. Your need to silence me is not a right.

If you want to not believe in God, that’s up to you. I’ve got no problem with you. But if you want to actively harass and hate on Christians, then I do. And I will reciprocate. You’re on the wrong side of the truth people. Just keep in mind, that Christianity is a leap of faith. Until you take the first step of faith, you will never understand. How many of you have EVER heard an Atheist tell the clerk at Macy’s(or any store, doesn’t matter) ” No thank you, I don’t want the discount, I‘m an Atheist and don’t believe in Christmas or any of the sales that go with it.” Anybody? Nah, didn’t think so, I haven’t either. HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!!!

      @Bible
The reason this part of the season is considered to be the giving season is because the Lord God sent he son Jesus Christ down to earth to die for our sins, so that we can go to heaven. God is GIVING us the chance to arrive at heaven. So we GIVE during this season to remember what God GAVE us. If you only give in this season as atheists then you as well are supporting the same idea.

God bless everyone. Even you Bible.
Never forget why we give during the Christmas season.

To accept the existence of God you have to humble yourself and for once realize that you are not the center of the universe. You also have to be intelligent enough to recognize some things that are not blatantly obvious. For most of the petulant children that are atheists the very thought that mommy and daddy were not created for the sole purpose of wiping their butts and worshiping them is too much to take. That’s ok because its the holidays and all of us good people that are believers in Jesus Christ will forgive them for their ignorance and we might even be kind and generous to them because it benefits us by storing up for us treasures in heaven. So God bless you non-believers that are going to burn in eternal hell fire and Merry Christmas.

Uhm, actually, I have worked almost every holiday for the first 7 years of my working life (now I work in an office and it closes on holidays so I can’t work even if I want to). The people I ended up working with during holiday skeleton crews fell roughly into three categories: nonbelievers, single people with no friends, and suckers. You know how all the lights stay on and the water keeps running and the gas keeps flowing and many of the grocery stores and gas stations stay open while you’re off getting wasted and buying kitschy crap for people that, in all honesty, you don’t really like? At the core of their supposed argument is a claim that the world should be fair… i.e. evolution has dealt them a bad hand in life. Peel back the facade and you’ll find Philosophical Naturalism – a belief. An anti-God biased belief that they’re willing to cling to no matter what empiracle evidence points to (intelligent design). It takes greater faith to hold to their position than believing in God.

To the atheist. Sorry if someone offends you if someone starts wishing you a Merry or Blessed Christmas Season. I know it’s horrible to have a human say or do something kind to you simply because that person may be happy, and wishes to celebrate a higher power, and the season. I can’t imagine the absolute torture you go through standing in the Christmas Sale lines, to buy yourself something, and having to see decorations and Christmas music. It must be worse for you than water-boarding.
But be of good cheer. Greedy humanist companies like Wal-Mart and Target are already attacking the Thanksgiving holiday, forcing employees to cut short in many cases the two paid holidays they observe each year for the sake of the Almighty Dollar. Heck, that anti-Christian Target threw out the Salvation Army Bell Ringers, and I’m sure that put a smile on your atheist faces. So it’s only a matter of time before Christmas Day is next for these companies to attack. Forcing employees to work that day too. No need for religion or families when we can shop…right?

To hide behind a statement that claims “atheistic companies” force employees to work these extra holidays is ludacris. . . .who is out shopping on those days? If you want businesses to stay closed on such days then take a stand and don’t go shopping, however it is the majority of the population in this country, which is mostly religious folks, that drag themselves up and out of bed to get to these stores to buy their material goods. So go ahead and make your statment as you will but be aware of exactly how ridiculous and unintelligent you sound.

Who…great..so using your logic….why not a Christmas Day sale. A lot of people are off on Christmas Day,. Why bother with a day AFTER Christmas Sale That’s next you know, it’s only a matter of time.
      The atheists will love it.

Bah humbug! I don’t feel descriminated against for my religious beliefs because, for the most part, I keep them to myself when I am in mixed company. Why don’t Atheists do the same? And don’t expect a Christ-free Christmas. If you don’t believe, don’t celebrate. I‘m not Jewish but I don’t have a problem with Channukkah(?) I just don’t light a menorah. And don’t worry about the mall. Last time I checked they didn’t have a nativity there.

    Bias against atheists.

    Now I’ve heard everything. LOL

Here is their complaint: They are “called names and belittled” at times for their expression of non-faith, non-beliefs.

    GET. OVER. IT.

People of faith (all faiths: Christian, Jewish/Judaism, Hindu, Muslim, etc.) are often also “called names and belittled” for our expressions of faith.

So let’s try this one on for size, American Humanist Organization: Bias against people of faith is EQUALLY naughty, not nice.

Perhaps if you leave people of faith alone, they will repay the favor.

How interesting that they utilize Santa to help make their point. Who cares what a mythical figure like Santa says about being naughty or nice? These idiots need help with advertising campaigns.

If you are an idiot, you will only feel comfortable in a group of idiots. Don’t let your dis-belief supercede my right to believe.

Why won’t atheists put their money where their mouth is? Fine…you don’t believe. So next time your boss says take the Easter and Christmas break off..refuse. Just tell him or her that you’re staying at work because the holiday is based on a lie. When their children ask for Christmas gifts..refuse them. Stop whining, stop trying to get converts to your silly Atheist religion..put your money where your mouth is. I’m not holding my breath.

Yeah I thought that one was stretching credibility a bit also. Job Interview: I‘m sorry sir but we can’t hire you…you’re an atheist”. Yes that‘s happened too often hasn’t it?

Unfortunately, we (as a society) tried ignoring the leftists too, and that didn’t work out too well. Being an ostrich won’t solve the problem.

It’s a d@mned if you, d@mned if you don’t scenario. These militant atheists want reactions and publicity. The correct response to them is “how do you react?”. You react by brushing them off as kooks, laughing at them and giving their idiocy as little publicity as possible. No protests, no gasps of outrage..just ridicule them and work to keep their exposure to a minimum. Let them then stew in their own anger and frustration.
