Atheists Use Video Showing Churches Burning & Bloodied Cross to Promote Army-Sponsored Concert

Why in the world would atheists be using a music video that celebrates the burning of churches and bloodied crosses to promote an upcoming music festival? While a viable answer to this question is hard to fathom, this is exactly what’s going on as non-believers prepare for “Rock Beyond Belief,” a massive Army-sponsored music festival occurring at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

Before we get into this bizarre video, let’s have a refresher surrounding how this atheist music festival came to be. Following a concert that was put on by a Christian group on the base in September 2010, you may recall that military atheists were offended. They began claiming that skeptics, too, deserve an event that celebrates their non-belief. So, after making a ruckus, the military agreed to give $50,000 toward “Rock Beyond Belief” (the same amount had been allocated for the Christian concert).

The event, slated for March 31, will feature various musical acts who celebrate the notion that there isn’t a God governing the universe. Additionally, there will be speakers, a rapper who promotes evolution and more. But it is one band called Aiden that is getting the most attention for its participation in the festival.

The rock group has a song called “Hysteria.” On the “Rock Beyond Belief” web site the tune is dubbed an “atheist anthem.”

Here’s the problem: The song has some troubling lyrics and the video for it includes burning houses of worship, a bloodied cross and other troubling images. Here’s how the song opens:

Love how they burn your synagogues
Love how they torch your holy books
Filling coffers with your grief
Filling coffins with your misery
Faith holding outright criminals safe
This is just the world we live in
Can you justify the pain
The death of fiction will save us all

And here’s the music video for the tune:

This, in itself, is odd, especially considering that this event is intended to be family-friendly. Will these be the sorts of images and performances that families will be subjected to?

It’s not entirely clear, but at one point in the band’s music video there are images of a cemetery.  It appears to be a military cemetery.  The lead singer, who throughout the video is dressed in clerical fashion, stands among the regimented headstones.  One shot frames the cross at the top of one tombstone.  Are they literally mocking the faith of dead soldiers?

In another song, called “Crusifiction,” the band sings:

Let me give you a little inside information about God
He’s laughing his sick fu**ing ass off

There’s no religion

According to Justin Griffith, the organizer of the atheist festival, this latter song will not be played at the concert. Still, he defended the controversial video that has been posted on the “Rock Beyond Belief” web site.

A spokesperson for Fort Bragg says that there will be an examination of song and concert content prior to the performances. Unacceptable language and themes likely won’t be allowed.

    One of the differences between good and evil:
    Good doesn‘t force you to believe or disbelieve it’s your choice and the choosing is improtant.
    Evil is about removing choice and forcing you go believe what they believe or not believe.

    Another difference is that Good gives Evil takes.

    So lets say Athiests are correct and religion is a crutch for sad lonely people that need the comfort,
    then Athiests just want to kick the crutches out from under a bunch of sad lonely people and take away their comfort so we are all hopless together, NICE!

      Personally I don’t care what you believe in as long as it makes you a better person and is not causing you to go out and cause harm on society. If you want to worship tomatoes, I would be happy to plant one for you. In the same token, I don‘t want to be bothered about my beliefs if they don’t match yours. Can we talk? Sure. Try to pressure me, it won’t happen.

      I see that there will be a time coming that those in power will try to outlaw religion in America. They will start with Judaism, then go to Islam, then to Christianity, and finally get around to the non-Abrahamic religions. The government will be our new religion. That scares me.

      what a coincidence; in the North east there has been many recent Church fires, vandalism, thefts. The occupy movement has been bragging about this. You don’t think the justice department will investigate because they are white churches?

      So, if atheism is a religion, like the Army just proved with its equal time/money, then it can not be taught in public schools. If it is, then other religions must be given equal time. The state can not promote the religion of non-belief in G-d over the religions of belief in G-d, if it is to remain consistent.

      The US Army should not be promoting either events. Church’s can raise their own funds to put on Christian style musical events that Christians want to attend. This is what you get when you allow funding from the tax payer to go to any group, then all groups must be heard. Why give the enemy that kind of venue? The bring the kids note is not comforting either. They will be exposed to the most blaring hateful language against God and for that matter humanity.

      I’m confused, they make it sound like they have finally created entertainment for the secular crowd, and its free. Kinda seems like a seeker sensitive outreach for the dark side. Why does it bother them so much that I worship God, whom they don’t believe in, and by following his word, I’m still married to one woman for 13 years, and an active father to 4 kids. I know that if I wasnt accauntable to God, I’d a screwed that up by now like most dads out there. These people don’t know it yet, but they worship the Dark Side.

      I’m calling the ACLU to complain. The song isn’t fair – it says “Love how they burn the Synagogues” but doesn’t say, ” Love how they burn the Mosques.” These Tur*s don’t say how the Fort Hood shooter hollered out a religous statement as he started killing soldiers on this very base. I think this band is a wanna be group of Atheists – I didn’t read that they were promoting or actually calling their kids Jesibelle or Judas. They are only attacking Christians, and not muslims or other religions.

      Sounds to me like the Army didn’t pay $50,000 for the religious fest, but someone came up with a total of $50,000 that would of been the cost of the grounds, portapottys, ect. Now the Army is going to give $50,000 to this cult and will still pay another $50,000 for the other amenities. That’s how this works just like the occupiers.

      This has disaster written all over it….Better have a bunch of MP’s around when you shut it down…This will get shut down somewhere during this show, I’m fairly certain…These bands will play what they want to play, no question about that…They do it everywhere they play, trust me…It will end ugly…Case and point…The band Roots comes to mind….I will say though, this will not be anything new to a child brought to this show, they already hear this stuff everyday of their lives. Sad really…Someone here got it right though..Why are we spending money on this…They can promote a concert in the area on their own…The people who want to go, go…Becomes quick non issue…

      I‘m an atheist and this band and that video does not represent atheism but one’s own twisted view of the world. Because I don’t believe in any god does not mean that I think that no one should worship them. People are entitled to believe whatever they want. But I will point out that religion, no matter which one it may be will turn a completely rational human being into a stark raving lunatic.

      Will someone please remind me of why the military exists in the first place? What is its ONE and ONLY PURPOSE? Is it to be exploited as some institution in place to breakdown supposed societal barriers? Is it an institution put forth to promote equality? Is it an institution meant to promote the gay/feminist agenda? What is our military for? Please, I need to know?
      I am a current college student/history major; I have to take prerequisite BS politically correct classes taught by a bunch of Marxist/Commie “ACTIVISTS” (versus real professors who teach you to think for yourself) who spew their hatred for private property rights, individualism, wealth creation (formally known as greed), white males (uh’um…me), pretty blonde and smart bombshells who think for themselves instead of conforming to the ugly butch feminist look and agenda, any private sector business (yes, even those greedy small business owners/exploiters). You got it, you now see who the haters are. The worst thing is, is that they get to promote their activist BS to a CAPTIVE audience (your children) who have no choice but to be there. Another thing, DO NOT EVER disagree with your Marxist professors; trust me, I have many times and it will get you an automatic one letter grade drop below what it should be. You will NOT BE AN “A” STUDENT!! You will not aid in any students’ non-conformist views towards their pro-commie/gay/femme/atheist/enviro-whack job schema.       I understand why the army was pressured into this position but the real story here will be the turn out? I would like to think our armed force’s were not full of a bunch of god haters. I would also like to think we are a humane caring nation that has values consistent with the principles that the 10 commandments put forth regardless of who proposed them! This idea that to be a good anti Christian you must show contempt for human values associated with god is really sad! I personally think we make our own heaven or hell by how we live our life here and now. If you are a person without feelings of a spiritual nature you have no throttle to your actions.       Mannax, you have a lot right except Islam will survive by sheer force, they will kill all non believers and they already occupy positions in our government that set policy. Because Christians and Jews have traditionally, at least since I’ve been alive (67yrs) been a positive benign influence for good. You don’t see Christians preaching and telling people to go out and do the wrong thing! It’s always about trying to be a better person and if you fail try and try again. What in the world is so threatening to atheists about the Golden Rule and hope for redemption? No one is forcing it on them. I certainly hope that the Christians on the base show up in force to be quiet, good mannered witnesses for the forces of good and love.

      The next big social experiment for the military will be the recruiting of transgendered into the military. The military is the perfect test environment for social policy which has become the chief focus of the military, followed by losing wars. It is more important to appease social justice over winning wars. Losing the war is now framed as winning. The top commanders that new how to win, yet voiced their opinions have been replaced by community organizers masquerading as military leaders.

      INGREDIENTS for ATHEISM:

      take a large portion of Pride and work it into a large shape for the filling. It should be pungent with Arrogance to the smell. This is how you know it is ripe.

      Rebellion will be the base of the filling. It should saturate each other ingredient, so be generous with it.

      Hatred is a sharp spice that will cut through the other flavors. Use it, but be careful or it may become distasteful to some sensitive eaters. You want as many people to eat this as possible. Be discerning with the Hatred.

      Destruction. You can add this directly, or use it as a side for dipping. Fans will eventually demand it.

      Make sure to bake thoroughly in Public Education. You’ll want Darwinism to form a hard golden crust on the outside.

      Mannax If Jesus was here he would say (based on your statement) that you are neither hot nor cold but luke warm so he would spit you out of his mouth, as a Christian I cannot straddle the fence I am appointed by God to spread the Gospel (good news) that Jesus died for my sins and on the third day arose again, and the ONLY way to be saved is through a personal relatinship with him which comes through faith, faith in knowing this to be true and professing the same aloud to others.       Atheism is a NON RELIGIOUS BELIEF. The attempts to transform this country is all too obvious. Patriotism is another thing they tend to hate. This nation, under God. They want to bend what we have established which was a Constitution inspired by Judeo Christian beliefs. Their motive to establish atheism as a religion is from their hearts as an enemy to God and His moral authority.       I personally know the lead singer. His name is Will, he is from Seattle, WA. I grew up playing music in the same scene as him. He was run out of Seattle for sleeping with an underage girl. It is no wounder he has no faith. He has no morals. “DADDY DIDN’T LOVE HIM” Don’t believe his bullsh#t. I use to be an athiest. Then I found God, and stopped denying what I always knew was there.

      Very well put, sir, very well put! But what I cannot understand is why these children claim to be atheists are unable to conduct a little self-analysis and see who & what they really are: These poor lost souls spend MOST of their time lashing out @ Christianity in general, and God in particular.You don’t have to be a psycho-therapist to see that these people believe in God. But they have either been deeply hurt by someone in the church,(pastors, deacons, elders for example), or paternal figure-Daddy, Uncle, etc.
      And when we are hurt by someone we trusted & repress our pain, then eventually we lash out in fury, anger and try to hurt others. This can be seen in Richard Dawkins, who is a brilliant man, but rather than use his adequate skills to help others, instead writes books filled with lies & rubbish…with God as the point of interest. When I was an agnostic(maybe atheist, agnostic for sure) I didn’t try to convert others, nor did I try to cause problems with believers. If someone tried to witness to me I wasn’t offended; politely but firmly tell them not to waste their time. So,when you see these people, show compassion, because they are still haunted by that night they were molested by Daddy, Uncle Chester, or their Cub Scout leader. Pray for them, after you get away from them.

      Some atheists and many Christophobes love to point out only the hypocrisy and violence of the the Church (churches) since the Emperor Constatine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire in the 3rd century AD. Christophobes ignore the enormous good the Church has accomplised over almost 2,000 years since Pentecost in charity, philosophy, ethics, education, art, architecture, music, literature, history, and much more. Atheists have their bloody history too: The French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, Mao’s Comnunist Revolution after 1949, Castro’ Cuba, etc. I can‘t think of even a one example of any enormous good atheism has done for Western Civilization when compared to Christianity and it’s cultural achievements. This concert isn’t a meeting of atheists using a rock concert to discuss and enjoy rock music with lyrics to share their disbelief. It’s a goverenment sponsored hate rally against Jews and Christians with Islam being noticably left out of the lyrics “sung” by this so called rock band. If Aiden really wants to shock and has the courage of it’s non believing convictions they should use a Muslim symbol, the crescent moon dipped in blood for example, and wait and see what kind of reaction Muslims have.Why doesn’t atheism have any concept of praise and joy for their disbelief as believers do for their belief?

      I’ve been engaging these manimals for quite some time now, & while they have a “Draw Allah Day” or Salman Rushdie(sp?) Day, it’s always been super low key. But surely you realize these are NOT atheists. I’m serious. These are people who’ve had a terrible experience with some sort of clergy(think of the choir boys & Catholic priest stuff come to light) and are still so….angry, bitter, hateful. Or else they poison their very own heart…..and kill them.
      See, this is an easy one. OK, here’s my evidence: Let’s say I do not believe in aliens, since I really don’t. Would I spend a great deal of time pushing my anti-alien views on others? Doubtful. Because I don’t care.
      But if aliens came and abducted me, & my little dog was crushed by their saucer, I’d be more likely spreading the word of ALIEN HATE!!!!

      Have you ever read an atheism book? Or watched an atheist talk on youtube? It usually focused MAINLY on Islam. Christianity gets a lot of attention because it is domestic. Atheists have to live with Christianity being forced on them from all sides. Islam is more of a distant threat. But the main proponents of atheism, such as Dawkins, the late Hitchens, and Sam Harris, target Islam more than any other religion.

    It is interesting that atheism needs to attack religion. If they really believe that this is all there is then they and a tremendous advantage in that they can make their own morality. Therefore lying and really any thing they want to do is just a matter of will I be caught will anyone know. This should give them the advantage to do what ever is needed to get ahead in any way.They fear religion and especially Christianity. Christianity and it’s belief in the free will of choice is antithetical to there very being. It is the belief that a greater being (God) has stated what is good and evil. This is the exact sin of Adam to eat the apple to be God or God like. Since the belief in Christianity through this belief and philosophy will essentially be a stabilizing factor. It does not fit their into their system. It becomes the classic battle between good and evil. It has been this way in the past and will continue into the future. Obviously it would take a more detailed dissertation to completely explain all that is behind their conflict with religion so if any one is truly interested start reading some of the old religious philosophers, It is the same conflict we face with communism and its ties to atheism. It is their religion if you will.

      I think it takes a LOT MORE ‘FAITH” to be an atheist than a CHRISTIAN…. First one would have to believe that a big bang took place from nothing…(what caused the bang) and it stopped banging long enough to create an earth with water, sky, sun and moon etc. then it created a man and then a woman and a system (patterns, seasons etc) all “by itself”… the other part is this: IF these ghouls truly believed there is NO GOD, then what do they care that we do? They can believe what they want, go about their lives — I think they‘d better get the clue that it’s not what they don’t believe in but who is CONTROLLING THEM…as in Satan. LOOK AT THEIR FRUIT.

According to physicists, there maybe be a “multiverse.” Many universes beginning and ending and initiating new ones. The argument from ignorance that so many modern day believers make is that there was nothing before the big bang.. It’s amazing to me 100s of years ago christians would never believe the universe is expanding from a starting point billions of years ago.. now most do accept that and yet they find another angle to defend their fairy tale. Scientists don’t know anything about how the big bang started, but the fact that so many christians just assume nothing existed before the big bang is a testament to how faith can shut down thought.

It is the only way of life that really works and has a destination beyond this life based upon whether a man or a woman has received Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour, and begins to live their life empowered by the Holy Spirit according to the Word of God.

      Unfortunate that you continue to deny that there is a God, the one and only true God, who for your information, has also permitted man to discover science and learn more about the world that God has created.

      You too can find truth, which comes only from and through God. Until you find truth, you will neither ever be completed or gain entrance into the Kingdom of God.

      A day will come when you meet the one and only true God. Better to meet Him now while you are on the right side of the grass rather than after you are placed on the other side of the grass. The consequences of your decision to receive Him as Lord and Savior now while livig will make all the difference in the world as to where you spend eternity.

      He is knocking on your door. Let Him in! You will never regret it.

Science is therefore LIMITED in its scope, as the very template for it originates in a primate brain with specific parameters. The kind of questions we are even able to ask and the answers we seek/understand are restricted to our physical senses and cognitive abilities. Therefore, science is hampered (because WE are), and your “belief” in it as a provider of all answers is ultimately foolish.

So you go off on God for being “pathetic” or “stupid” when your issue really is with the interpretation of God by limited human beings. I believe in God and Jesus but I don’t believe the theology that says you must be “born again” before you die or you will go to Hell. What study have you done, really, of theology, of the differences between Catholic, Baptist, and more “liberal” theology, and what have you done regarding the study of other spiritual traditions? You know very little about Christianity except a caricature version of it, and then presume to judge “God” based on that caricature.

      As for “proof,” the proof you need is inside your heart. But your heart must be open to get the answer.

Well, I’m not a fundamentalist, and I don’t think what we “believe” has any bearing on whether God exists or what He’s really like. The evidence for God is right there in your own head, with your own *awareness.* Anyone who honestly thinks a bunch of brain cells can create *awareness* is kidding themselves. Science tries to explain it, but it falls way short.

      Go read Eckhart Tolle or something. Not Christian, not Biblical, and probably heretical to some folks here, but he at least can teach you something about your own consciousness.

      PS I also study Buddhism and Hinduism and I was already aware about the connection between Krishna and Christ. And I knew that Hinduism has a trinity very similar to Christianity. Why on earth would that make Jesus invalid? If anything, the similarities might speak to a universality. Either way, I know all that, and I still know there’s a God. Your “debunking” simply shows your lack of appreciation for the universality of spiritual themes, and the myriad of ways God tries to speak to us.

      Zhaan, I love the assumptions. I have thought for years on the subject of consciousness and creation. Whether matter creates consciousness or vice versa. Old hat. I know the subatomic properties of matter. The rock is not solid.. yada yada yada.. I don’t claim certainty over the existence of the supernatural or not. I don’t claim knowledge over anything I am not certain about. And, I’m certainly not going to come to any faith based “wishful thinking” esque conclusions based on my 5 senses or anything man has had to say about it in history. The thought.. Just the “thought” mind you of a loving creator etc is a “good thought” Doesn’t make it true. Awareness may be a mystery still but your argument about consciousness being divine is such a strawman. If our consciousness was so damn divine, then you would not require a brain to manifest it. Getting shot in the head and surviving would not render you a vegetable. You walk around with your functional brain and say wow, this is so amazing.. Well lets see how you perceive everything after someone drops an anvil on your head. Even if the supernatural is true, that doesn’t make one iota of what religion has to say about it true. You can trick your emotions and believe whatever you want.. If you want to see UFO’s you will see them. If you want to feel like you have a disease, you will have a disease.

      You are accusing christians of burning christian churches and for when non-christians burned Jewish churches in Germany, (read your history I lived there), it really takes away from you argument when you do that.
      Just because a person goes to a christian church does not make them a christian and christians are forbidden to do such things. Ergo if they ARE burning churches they are NOT Christians.

      If your just repeating what you were taught you might wonder why they sent you out so unprepared.

      That might take place some places, but if people are rational they will identify superstitious and irrational beliefs and rituals regardless of the source (and it’s silly to think atheists, who aren’t persuaded God exists, would find any more convincing evidence to presuppose Satan does–both of these are Christian fabrications if atheists, or any OTHER theist not Christian, are right).

      Catsarethegods was upset with grandma‘s prayer because it pricked it’s heart and reminded them of them being a sinner that needs salvation. That angered Cats and it tried to post an answer to make it sound like it was intelligent.

      So “Cats are gods,” if there is no God, then what gives you the right to declare any kind of moral indignation? The Invisible Flying Space Cat on your shoulder? If there is no God, then there is no morality, but just a revolving opinion of the majority that is labeled so! Good grief! “Kick a Grandma,” It’s just a NAME, get over yourself!

      A stab a humor in a name is not an endorsement of any evil! But you “should” believe that there is no evil, because there is no God! Yet you pompously rebuke someone with such surety and religious fever! Ironic indeed!

      Perhaps our atheist friends will one day wake up and see that they have invented a “god” and “religion” out of their claimed “non-religious” faith. It is interesting to see such a display of logical and intellectual self-contradiction as organized RELIGIOUS Atheism!

      KICKAGRANDMA is a nice lady who has been part of this blog for a long time. Please don’t mess with her. You make yourself sound stupid.

      I see that you are one of those who is easily influenced by the type of music in the video. That’s part of the “Death Culture”. They are are people who love the darkness and hide from the light. They think it’s vogue to worship and mimic the Evil One. Or maybe you just worship Yourself.
      You would be wise to seek out God before you die. It will be too late then. I know you don’t believe it, but this person called God is real, not a figment of peoples imagination. And our father is God, the same God who gave us Jesus, who paid for the whole worlds sin. He would never force you believe in Him, and neither do we. God made you free to believe what seems good and right to you….God is hoping you will always make the best chioces that will bring good into your life. He chose you instead of HIs own son Jesus when the time came for Jesus to me an innocently murdered. Jesus was guilty of no offences worthy of death. But WE are. God loves you so much he will consider the punishment that Jesus suffered to be yours’ instead. God is hoping you will make the right choice.

      Some atheist are not religious. But, there are some atheist who belong to churches and there are legally ordained ministers, who can perform every task that a clergy member can perform such as preaching to a congregation, access to hospitals and prisons, weddings, funerals, commitment ceremonies, use of reserved parking for clergy, etc.
      Atheism is simply the disbelief in God/gods/deity. Atheistic religion is a religion without a God/gods/deity as the basis for their belief structure. Atheistic religion belief structure is based on science, reason, thought, compassion.
      Such as the First Church of Atheism which is “Dedicated solely to ordaining atheists so that they too may perform ceremonies previously performed by religious men.”

      Isn’t that a paradox? Isn’t that hypocritical? Possibly. Some atheist say yes, it is. Some atheist say, no it is not.
