Atlantic: ‘This Is How Terrifying Cairo Is Tonight’

Horrifying video and images are emerging of Egyptian security forces beating protesters in Cairo, as reports of military units firing into the crowds continue to spread.
One such video, posted online this afternoon, is below. It’s jarring. Watch at your own risk:
Late Sunday night, Egypt’s ruling military council apologized on its official Facebook page for the violent events in the square and charged the interim cabinet with investigating the incident. It also restated its commitment to keeping the democratic transitional timetable.
The opposition appeared to be uniting against the military leadership, breathing new life into a youth-led protest movement that had grown moribund during the summer. Over the weekend, a clearer set of demands began to emerge as protesters girded for a longer fight.
Leading protest groups, such as the Revolutionary Youth Coalition and the 6th of April Youth Movement, say they intend to occupy the square until the military hands over power to a civilian authority.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 6:36am…Because that’s part of the master plan…..and he knows it quite well. Obama’s speech in Cairo in June of 2009 instigated all the Arab springs movement, specially the one in Egypt. But according to politicians and the media, we the people, are considered “dumb” and can’t add one and one together.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 6:37amJust remember that anything less than a completely devastating defeat in the popular vote will result in Obama being re-elected.
The DOJ’s civil-rights division, along with its ‘voters section’, will create so many illegal votes that the vote cannot be remotely close to keep Obama out.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 7:12am@Philo That was the first thing that I thought. As bad as Mubarak was, they now have an entire “council” of military “Mubarak”s. From the get go, I have thought that the military will either not release power to a “civilian elected official” or simply hand over power to the militants, Muslim Brotherhood, al Queda, et al.
Sad situation. If it is not denounced in the press conferences today, Mr. Obama is complicit in my opinion.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 9:09amGeorge Bush was vilified by the left for starting a war in Iraq. But, there are other ways to start, and perpetuate a war and that is what Obama did by forcing Mubarak to turn over the country to radicals.
Obama is responsible for the turmoil in the middle east just as if he had bombed those countries.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 6:02amThe muslim world can thank ODUMBO INC. AND HIS RINO SUPPORT for the ARAB SPRING, A.K.A. MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD SPRING. It was intended to lay the tracks for the DESTRUCTION OF ISRAEL. In reality, it will lead to thousands more muslim deaths, then, tens of thousands more muslim deaths. And that will just be in civil, street warfare. The WAR WITH ISRAEL WILL COME TOO. Thank YOU, ODUMBO INC.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 4:17amHey OWS, this is what police brutality looks like. You guys cry about non-compliant people being pepper-sprayed as if it were tantamount to stomping babies to death.
OWSer: “They were brutalizing people” (read: lifting their passively non-compliant bodies off the ground).
OWSer: “They just came at us for no reason” (hey dummy they told you to quit blocking traffic, clear the street and get back on the sidewalk; you refused. Trust me, in most cities if you cause a traffic slowdown, the cops aren’t the ones who get violent. You’d better pray they get to you before the road-ragers do).
OWSer: “They were beating people senselessly” (Yeah, your version of the video shows cops swinging away. The uncut footage shows the truth; you and four dozen friends actually did a countdown before rushing a police barricade and then were surprised when the cops kicked-your ***es. How is that senseless? Makes perfect sense to me).
AAAAAAGH, YOU PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID!

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 3:20amIf mob rule creates a demand and receives it (as in Egypt). Then the conditions are set up to repeat the behavior necesary for the next demand to be met. This is exactly what OWS are trying to duplicate. So tedious and time-consuming and degrading…..not to mention non-profitable for the protestors…all the while becoming boring reality TV.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 6:17amYes, BULLET….
What’s happening in Egypt is always possible in any Democracy. Majority rule/mob rule was a concern of our founders….you know, the old White guys that gave more freedom to more people (not just in the US) than ANY other country ever has.
A Constitutional Republic has elected representatives to do the peoples’ negotiating. We can remove those reps who do not act according to Constitutional law thru the ballot-box. You can’t blame the Founders for giving us the best chance possible for man to govern himself.
Yes, there will always be greed and, yes, Capitalism’s nature gives man more chances to be greedy. The alternatives to Capitalism are not attractive, however.
Socialism/Marxism/Communism will remove opportunities for average peoples’ greed to be a factor. Those three will also remove most opportunities to be free to excell by using your own creativity. Do we want equal results that desperately to give up our freedom? People do not all have equal ability. Sorry!
I’ve lived the life where people who did not have the same ability as me were mandated to make the same wage as me. That’s equal results, and that is not freedom.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 8:58amSoon we will all know how that female reporter felt … interesting how the same thing seems to be happening with the OWS except it to their own people. Whats sad is that a huge number of people are more concerned about Black Friday and what Whorelywood skank has been knocked up or what Reality Housewife has lost her fortune than the fact that they are being played by the Media Presstitutes of the Whitehouse – you think this will get any coverage at all in the next few days… not much.
May your own personal god help us as we prepare to fight a war that is most certainly coming. First it was a war of ideas which the morally true have lost, Now its a war of finance which our gvernment (Republicans and Progressocrats are losing on purpose to line their own pockets) and finally it will be a war of destruction where we will all lose.
As our Founding Fathers said … here is your Republic, lets see if you can keep it….sadly I am afraid the answer is No but lets give it a good fight

Seriously…..‘if’ anarchists attempt to break into private citizens’ homes at will….if it becomes widespread, people will quickly realize they will not be protected by the police. There just are not enough police to do the job. Folks will have to, and believe me….WILL protect themselves. The second Amendment is critical.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 1:27amThat person being dragged by the hair is always nice after a nice Spring. It is crazy, because the kids protesting against the police want “democracy” and the police need to stay in power, so they allowed the first uprising to take out Mubarek, but now they are cracking down because they are not giving power to the “civilians” and others here are wanting the same thing. Many don’t realize that they are being used as Useful Idiots, and are masking the true intentions of those in power, to gain more power. How can so many people not see what is going on??? Blinded by their own desire for “democracy” when they don’t even know what that means, and that democracy results in Mob Rule. Sing it with Glenn, Pat and Stu “This is what democracy looks like…”
