A formal announcement about the new iPhone 5 (or iPhone 4S as some have called it) is not expected until late June or early July, but the tech world is swirling with rumors about the next iPhone release.

Mashable.com, citing information from Reuters says;
Apple’s suppliers will begin production in July, and the finished product is likely to begin shipping in September
As far as changes and upgrades coming to the iPhone, the speculation covers many topics.
Yahoo is reporting that new phone will have a major processor upgrade;
The new iPhone will have a dual-core A5 processor under the hood, helping it keep up with numerous dual-core smartphone competitors already on the market such as the Motorola Atrix 4G and HTC Sensation.
Many of the tech rumor sites have mentioned a change to the iPhone’s cameras, with the user-facing cam getting an upgrade as the front-facing set up sees the flash move away from the lens. Macrumor.com posted that theory along with a photo from a new iPhone case currently in production.
The larger hole on the case is allegedly there to accommodate a new flash unit for the next iPhone.
Forbes.com also covered the story with news on expanded carrier availability and the question about a 4g iPhone.
Apple‘s iPhone 5 launch in September isn’t likely to include LTE functionality, Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Misek asserts in a research note.
“According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support,” he writes in a research note.
But he also says that “industry checks indicate Apple will likely announce Sprint, T-Mobile, and China Mobile as new carriers.”
What did we learn today?
- Apple’s next iPhone will be more about evolution than revolution.
- The user-facing cam is expected to be upgraded and the front-facing flash improved and moved.
- A new os should make the system faster and better, but there is no 4G iPhone on the calendar, just good news for Sprint and T-Mobile customers.
Ps. If you have not yet downloaded iOS 4.3.3 and upgraded your iPhone, you should. The new software fixes the much talked about location tracking issue.

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 3:05amgreat news for the iPhone fanboys
its a true pity that HTC abandoned their long-time faithful users of over a decade and opted instead to try to try and copy the iPhone
HTC used to be a man’s phone, powerful, durable, rugged, packed to the hilt with the latest gadgets, keyboards, tilt screens, swinging screens, large, well-protected, etc etc..
it gave up on all of us and ran out to try to be another iPhone
thanks for the gayphones
iMate is the only company on the planet with the potential to save us all from a world of gay phones
if iMate can pull itself together and save itself from tanking, it may well save the planet from the iPhone curse
iMate just put out a waterproof phone, and if if they keep up making military-style phones that are water-proof, shock-proof, large, built tough, in tough cases, quality real cameras, keyboards, flip tops, larger sizes packed to the hilt, the world may in fact not end up in gayphoneville

I love my iPhone :-)
Yes, I understand there are more important things in life, but if you can‘t take time to enjoy some of life’s simple pleasures, that’s equally sad.

Posted on May 16, 2011 at 9:51amIn Ada, Ok the only phone that works everywhere is US Cellular. People with the I phone stand out out because they are always holding the phone out looking for a signal. I asked a friend about hers and she said she can read her voice mail in certain places. I have a Kindle and have the same problem with iy’s AT&T.

Posted on May 16, 2011 at 8:24amand scouting the web on real-world use of the Thunderbolt tells me it has about a 2 hour battery life before recharging. Web surfing, texting, no phone calls, at best I’m reading end-use reports of about 3 hours’ use. I’m not taking any chances. But thanks.
