JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) — A teenager believed to be ejected or sucked from his father’s car on the way home from graduation in the massive Joplin tornado last week is dead.
Will Norton’s aunt, Tracey Presslor, said Saturday that the family received confirmation of his death late Friday night. She declined to say more until a later news conference.
Family members had previously told The Associated Press that Norton and his father were still on the road when the storm hit. Mark Norton urged his son to pull over, but the teen’s Hummer H3 flipped several times, throwing the young man from the vehicle, likely through the sunroof.
The elder Norton was hospitalized.
Several social-networking efforts specifically focused on finding information about Norton.
The death toll from the savage storm stands at 132 people.

Posted on May 31, 2011 at 5:16pmThis was the first vehicle I remember coming across when I was running to my father-in-laws home to see if he was ok after the tornado. I remember thinking to myself that someone had to have been killed it was so bad. Say a prayer for the family. The TV just cant capture the amount of destruction. I will never forget that day, although it seems like such a fog. We are strong we will recover, and thanks to all those that have come to help.

Posted on May 30, 2011 at 10:43pmWhat is wrong with some of you — hey “glenns_future_baby_mama” — if you were truly a “believer” — then you would know that we cannot judge — only God can do that. Just because the family was in a Hummer and perhaps the kids owned it certainly does not make them a sinner and that “God” would pick the out — that is so absurd!!! I pray for the family in such a tragedy — a family’s worst nightmare. Only God can heal their sorrow. I pray nightly for all those in Joplin and in other tragedies that the Lord will give them peace and healing.

Posted on May 30, 2011 at 7:23pmI can’t believe the freaking pettiness here! For crying out loud Will Norton’s seat belt snapped and he was sucked through the sunroof. Do you really think anyone cares wether or not his f’n seatbelt was on or not and/ or if he owned the car or not. I thought this site was for intelligent people- not idiots.

Posted on May 30, 2011 at 1:41pmIs this the event that Glenn mentioned months and months ago? We waited for more information and actually planned vacation time around first week in July. But he never mentioned it anymore. I will try to find more information on this on his web site.

Posted on May 30, 2011 at 9:37amSadly, having had a son murdered at 20, I CAN imagine what this family is going through and my heart hurts for them. I will pray for them today, because only God helps you to get through things like this without either losing your sanity, becoming chronically depressed, or becoming a bitter person.

Posted on May 30, 2011 at 2:16amI’m so sorry to hear of this tragedy. May God comfort those who lost loved ones. May those who are alive draw near to the living God and find a refuge from the wrath to come. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, the Resurrection, the Life.

Posted on May 30, 2011 at 7:45amIt has always been required in my household to buckle up no matter what. It saved my life twice (once I hit a deer and the other I got rear-ended at a traffic light) and my daughter’s life once (the car she was riding in rolled seven times; her driver was paralyzed from the waist down). I know in this case the lad had on his seat belt, but he came against a monster tornado and sometimes there is nothing you can do. We are not always in control! I pray for his family and friends in their hours of grief and that they turn to the Lord God for comfort. Amen.

Posted on May 30, 2011 at 10:03pmIt is so sad. Surely our Lord Jesus looked down upon the storm He’d unloosed upon Joplin, grim faced. He works in mysterious ways, but it’s clear to the believer that He choose the Hummer, marking it with His great hand.
They died for their sins. So sad.

“Norton’s seatbelt snapped as the Hummer H3 he was driving flipped.”
I’m not buying this.
