Australia‘s Girl Scouts Sister Organization Removes ’God’ From its Official Oath

The Girl Scouts of the USA has faced no shortage of controversy over its purportedly leftist slant and a once-highly controversial separation from its religious roots. In 1993, the group allowed for more flexibility in its use of the word “God,” allowing girls who didn’t embrace the Judeo-Christian worldview to substitute the word for something that seemed more personally fitting. Now, it seems the Girl Guides of Australia, a Girl Scouts sister organization, is following suit.
The decision to remove references to both God and the queen comes as the organization appears to be experiencing a major decrease in membership. The International Herald Tribune, a publication of The New York Times, has more:
Millions have paid their respects this year to Queen Elizabeth II during her Diamond Jubilee, marking her 60th year on the throne. But a group of her young subjects, the Girl Guides of Australia, have now deleted the queen from their oath, along with a reference to God. [...]
The Girl Guides, a sister organization of the Girl Scouts, has 10 million members worldwide. Founded in Britain in 1910, the Girl Guides have about 28,000 members in Australia, down from a reported high of 80,000.
With the deletions of God and queen, the Guides hope “to be seen as more inclusive and a modern, relevant organization and that many more women will like to join us,” said Belinda Allen, director of Girl Guides Australia.

Before the change, the girls who participated would pledge an oath to multiple parties. They swore to “do my duty to God, to serve the queen and my country.” The new oath, though, takes a divergent approach, reading, “I promise that I will do my best; to be true to myself and develop my beliefs; to serve my community and Australia, and live by the Guide Law.”
This more generic pledge is creating a stir among those who believe it’s improper to remove “God” and the queen. Others, including atheists and non-believers, contend that it was a viable decision based on an overwhelming need to “modernize.”

Sad the mothers condemn the children with false lies and teaching. God will still be honored in their judgement. God gets His glory no matter how people act. Remember “every knee will bow, every tougue will confess Jesus Christ is Lord.” Every girl scout will cry and scream for mercy as they face God and bow to Him on His Judgement throne. Sad He will have to punish their disbelief with hell.

So now that GS is becoming politically correct, will they allow child molester’s in the group, I mean we don’t want to be exclusive right? All will be welcomed. Honor Satan – come on in. Rather than invoke this blanket rule on all troops, why not form a group just for atheist, or form a group for just Islamic girls and they can create their own oath. Oh wait, that would be expressing common sense. They would still participate as a group but they would have their own oath. So you punish those with Christian roots, because a few might feel left out? Grow up people. If you are going to make special concessions for Muslim girls, why not Christian girls.
I encourage all Christian GS to say God during the oath. If the leaders, don’t like it tough. They are violating your 1st amendment rights.

I encourage all Christian GS to leave the GS and start new organizations that are not as bereft of morality, and full of leftist indoctrination. The only way the GS might reform their ways if they are deprived of members and money. BTW, there is no 1st Amendment protection in a private organization like the GS, and especially not so in a foreign land. Fund and support alternatives to the Girl Guides, and Girl Scouts.

First and foremost, Reason didn’t insult you. You, however, accused Philly and Reason of being ok with child molestation simply because they’re atheist and more liberal than you. And to be honest, I don’t really trust your opinion of what constitutes “radical left wing” or “Marxist.” Is it because they are in favor of public schools? I’m gonna drop a bomb on you here, but the vast majority of Americans are fine with public schools. And just because someone is ok with public schools, it‘s a pretty big leap to say they don’t care about any molestation that has happened there.
And finally, you’re not giving anyone a dose of their own medicine. You make grand, unsubstantiated claims and resort to ad hominem attacks, but you make no actual points that any thinking person would take seriously. Now I’ll sit here and wait to be called a Marxist.

Yes, you are exactly right. Everyone who has different religious views than you or whose politics are a little more liberal has embraced Marxism. We are all the exact same, and by that I mean each and every one of us hates freedom of speech and religion. I swear you just type down whatever Mr. Beck has spouted off earlier in the week.
I want actual evidence of a broad, nation-wide atheist/liberal conspiracy to tear apart the Constitution and remove the freedoms of speech and religion. I doubt you’ll give me any, as your go-to method of arguing is simply making grand claims with no facts to back anything up.
