TheBlaze’s Jason Howerton contributed to this report.
- Authorities identify assailant as Wade Michael Page, 40, ex-Army serviceman
- Described by some as a “white supremacist” and “skinhead” with tattoos
- FBI investigating shooting as act of “domestic terrorism”
- Suspect may have “recently broke up with his girlfriend”
- Three victims, including police officer, in hospital with serious injuries; seven, including gunman, dead

The details are still emerging from Sunday’s horrific shooting at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After much speculation about the assailant, who killed six people before perishing in an exchange of gunfire with police, authorities claim that the man responsible is Wade Michael Page. The 40-year-old was an ex-Army serviceman out of Ft. Bragg in North Carolina.
Prior to being identified, the shooter was described by police as a white man in his 40s with a shaved or bald head and a number of tattoos. This information, teamed with biographical data, led authorities to classify the attack as an act of “domestic terrorism.” This essentially means that there was a probable political agenda attached to the crime. Considering these factors, the FBI is now leading the investigation.
ABC News has more about Page:
Page, 40, opened fire outside the temple before entering around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning and killed six people. He served in the Army from April 1992 through October 1998. [...]
Though police have not given any details on the motive of the shooter, but Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms Special Agent Thomas Ahern said Page had tattoos that suggested he had ties to white supremacists.
“It is being investigated. And what his tattoos signified is being investigated. They are all pieces of a possible puzzle to learn what was his motive in carrying out such a horrific act,” Ahern said.

Business Insider lists some of the other alleged facts that have been collected about the shooter:
- Bloomberg reports that Page “discharged honorably from the Army in 1998 after six years of service” after serving from April 1992 through October 1998 as a sergeant and later a specialist, working as a Hawk missile system repairman before becoming a psychological operations specialist.
- He was was stationed at Ft. Bliss in Texas and at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina while originally being from Colorado. Details about his discharge are not yet known.
- The Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that has studied hate crimes for decades, reports that Page was “a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band.” They have a picture but we have not confirmed it. Here is End Apathy’s MySpace page.

Prior to Page’s identification, ABC News was already reporting that the man behind the attack was potentially a “white supremacist“ and a ”skinhead.” The suspect’s landlord also told the Greendale Patch that she believes the man had “just broken up with his girlfriend.” As of Monday morning, no details regarding a potential motive were released.
Page was a “frustrated neo-Nazi” who led a racist white supremacist band, the Southern Poverty Law Center said Monday.

Mark Potok, a senior fellow at the nonprofit civil rights organization in Montgomery, Ala., said Page had been on the white-power music scene for more than a decade, playing in bands known as Definite Hate and End Apathy.
“The name of the band seems to reflect what he went out and actually did,” Potok said.
“There is a whole underworld of white supremacists music that is rarely seen or heard by the public,” Potok said, describing lyrics that talk about carrying out genocide against Jews and other minorities, he said.
Potok said there’s no research showing white supremacists hating Sikhs, indicating that Sunday’s attack was almost certainly an example of someone mistaking Sikhs for Muslims.
In a 2010 interview, Page told a white supremacist website that he joined the white-power music scene in 2000, when he left his native Colorado and started the band End Apathy in 2005.
He told the website his “inspiration was based on frustration that we have the potential to accomplish so much more as individuals and a society in whole,” according to the law center. He did not mention violence in the website interview.
End Apathy‘s biography on the band’s MySpace page said it was based in Nashville, N.C.

Following the Sunday morning shooting, tactical units went through the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin and found four people dead inside and two outside, in addition to the shooter. As many as 30 people were also reportedly injured. The lone gunman was said to be wearing tactical equipment and was armed with one handgun. Victims are being treated at a local hospital.
Dr. Lee Biblo, the chief medical officer at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, said they were able to treat three seriously wounded men in their level one trauma center. He said one of the victims had been shot multiple times in the face and extremities. Another had been shot in the abdomen and a third man suffered a gunshot wound in his neck.
Personal accounts from the horrific tragedy continued to pour in throughout Sunday night.

“He did not speak, he just began shooting,” said Harpreet Singh, relaying a description of the attack from the wife of his uncle, temple president Satwant Singh Kaleka who died in the attack.
Singh said Satpal Kaleka told him she was in the front room when the shooter walked in. She said the 6-foot-tall bald white man — who worshippers said they had never before seen at the temple — seemed like he had a purpose and knew where he was going.
Gurpreet Kaur, 24, of Oak Creek, said her mother and a group of about 14 other women were preparing a meal in the temple kitchen when the gunman entered and started firing. Kaur said her mother felt two bullets fly by her as the group fled to the pantry. Her mother suffered what Kaur thought was shrapnel wound in her foot.
“These are people I’ve grown up with,” she said. “They’re like aunts and uncles to me. To see our community to go through something like this is numbing.”

Kaur said she spent the afternoon serving as a translator between law enforcement and survivors at a nearby bowling alley. Police investigators kept witnesses inside the bowling alley’s basement into the evening.
“We don‘t even know who’s downstairs,” Ravi P. Singh, 25, of Greenfield, said after going to the bowling alley to see if he could get more information about what had happened.
One of the first officers to respond to frantic 911 calls seeking help was shot several times as he tended to a wounded victim, and was in critical condition along with two other victims Sunday night, authorities said. Police said the officer was expected to survive.
Late Sunday evening, the investigation appeared to move beyond the temple as police, federal agents and the county sheriff’s bomb squad swarmed a neighborhood in nearby Cudahy, evacuated several homes and searched a duplex. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent Tom Ahern said warrants were being served at the home of the gunman.

In the wake of the tragedy, fears over anti-Sikh sentiment are rising. Police in New York and Chicago issued statements saying they were giving Sikh temples in those cities additional attention as a precaution after the shooting, which also came two weeks after a gunman killed 12 people at movie theater in Colorado.
Valarie Kaur, who chronicled violence against Sikh Americans in the 2006 documentary “Divided We Fall,” was returning to her home in New Haven, Conn., after speaking at a White House conference Friday when she heard about the shootings.
Even though the gunman’s motives were a mystery Sunday, Kaur said the shootings reopened wounds in a community whose members have found themselves frequent targets of hate-based attacks since Sept. 11.
“We are experiencing it as a hate crime,” she said. “Every Sikh American today is hurting, grieving and afraid.”
The Sikh Coalition, the largest Sikh American civil rights organization in the U.S., recommended caution in speculating in the case, saying it “remains clear that the story remains and evolving and fluid situation.”
“The Sikh Coalition’s thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the shooting, the Sikh community of Milwaukee, and the larger community of Wisconsin, which we know will stand with their Sikh neighbors with their support and prayers during this very trying time,” said Executive Director Sapreet Kaur in a statement.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) also released a statement explaining that American Muslims “stand with their Sikh brothers and sisters.”
More from ABC News:
The tragedy comes less than a month after James Holmes, 23, opened fire at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo. during a midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises,” killing 12 and injuring dozens more. However, the term “domestic terrorism” was not applied in that shooting.

On that said these Americans just like so may other Americans suffer when shootings happen! This is not a act of domestic terrorism! The Fort Hood, TX. shooting by Major Nidal Hasan was a Act of Domestic Terrorism!!!! This is just another sad shooting in a City in America period!! The truth will come out! American Sikhs are not American Muslims the difference between the two religions are clear I would hope to anyone that can read!! God Bless America!!!

How is it that they call this terrorism, but the Fort Hood shooting was workplace violence? I don’t get it.
Notice that this guy served in the Army, but got out back in the mid nineties. I doubt he ever saw combat, but the media will really push the whole “Army Vet” thing.
The Huff Po folks are already tying to blame Rush, Hannity, Beck, Bachmann….
These mass shooting deals are a tragedy, but the media twists the truth. These type of murders make up a minute fraction of the nations murders. The media tries to hide the real stats on murder. Blacks in this country make up 12% of the population, but commit 50% of the nations murders. If blacks murdered at the same rate as white people, our murder rate would drop by 32%, and would make us have one of the lowest murder per capita rates in the world. Currently there are 35 nations with higher murder rates than us, and many of them have much stricter gun control than we have.
Remember, that nation with the lowest murder rate is Switzerland. Every house has an assault rifle and ammunition.
Some libs call for only police and military to have firearms. North Korea is set up that way.

“Blacks in this country make up 12% of the population, but commit 50% of the nations murders. If blacks murdered at the same rate as white people, our murder rate would drop by 32%,”
As to cause I do not blame genetics. I blame the people for whom you vote, the Democrats of all stripes from the KKK to the panderers.
The economics & math did not add up for cities, state & companies with union pension liabilities. It does not add up for the nations welfare policies. As economics is applied psychology, you can’t induce people to not to work, while taxing others at ever higher rates and expect a good outcome.
Fairness is hardwired in all primates if not all vertebrates. There is no way you can condition it out through political slogans or policies. You will only breed resentment & you will be held to account.

Report Post »First of all, thank you for your service. I usually agree with things you post, but I have to point out an error in your previous post. Blacks do commit murder at the same rate as whites, when both come from intact families. The cause of crime in the black community is directly related to the single parent home (which is promoted by welfare programs). Blacks who come from two parent homes do not have higher rates of crime. Whites are just less likely to have broken homes, a statistic that is changing fast, then we will be right up there too. The family needs to be restored in this country, all of our problems go back to the destruction of the family unit.

In typical lib fashion, you just hate the facts. Facts always seem to get in the way of liberal indoctrination.
Here is the kicker. While blacks do make up 12% of the population, and do commit 50% of the murders in the U.S. Do you know who they are killing for the most part? The majority of their murder victims, are other black males. Black murder rates is not a “black” problem, it is an American problem. If we can lower the murder rate of black Americans, then we would greatly reduce the rate of black males getting murdered. Do you have something against lowering the rate of black people getting murdered?
To lower that rate, we would have to look at why blacks are killing at a much higher rate than whites? I can tell you one thing, it is not genetic. Blacks are not more predisposition to killing, nor is there any such thing as an atavistic killer. If we want to lower the black murder rate, then we need to look at such topics as welfare, multicultural education in the public schools, violent rap music…..
Encinom does not want these topics discussed, as he knows it would take away votes from the democrats. Encinom is perfectly willing to let black males to continue getting murdered at a genocidal rate, as long as the dems keep getting elected. When someone does bring up the facts, he jumps out front, yells “bigot”, “racist”, and other such comments to try to silence truth and facts.

When the story first broke he was referred to as a “white supremacist,” as are all white shooters of past tragedies similar to this.
How bitterly disappointed the radical leftist press is going to be if this guy DOESN’T turn out to be a “white supremacist,”…………….as if it really matters, because he’s just the usual, run-of-the-mill nutcase who probably is as delusional as Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, et al.
Notice though how concentrated the press is on showing grief stricken relatives in this instance when only 4 people were killed, yet they didn’t show even one photo of the relatives of the 13 people who were killed by the Muslim at Ft. Hood and the dozens injured.
If the shooter had been Muslim or black, it wouldn’t get even a fraction of this coverage.

Once again, to really discuss a fix, would mean discussing welfare, and dems are not about to let that happen. Dems are fine with blacks killing blacks via murder and abortion. Let us not forget that seven in ten blacks are now being born into single family homes.

Once separated, it was put in his records that he could not serve again. If you check the stats, military combat vets have a lower violent crime rate, than those that did not serve.
As far a gun control – the Huff Po crowd is already in a feeding frenzy, and ready to outlaw the “assault rifles”. Some facts- this dude did not use an “assault rifle”. Most years, “assault rifles” are used in less than 3% of the nation’s total murders. Switzerland has the lowest murder rate in the world and they have an assault rifle in every house. Chicago is having the highest murder rates in the nation, and they have some of the strictest gun control laws on the books. And if you run with the claims about all those accidental gun deaths, then you might be surprised to know that more people die from bee stings in the nation than from accidental gun deaths. Accidental gun deaths make up around one percent of accidental deaths per year.

You might want to study facts and history. Nazi folks are far left socialist. As a matter of fact, Hitler and Stalin had a pact. They both basically wanted the same things, they just went at it from a different angle/.

He did not believe a known radical Muslim shouting“Allahu Akbar” prior to opening fire and executing 13 people was any clue the Shooter’s motive. It was just workplace violence according to DOD .

For every 1 person this idiot murdered, blacks have slaughtered a thousand whites in just this year alone! Stop with the excuses.

Of course you’d express sympathy towards your fellow bigot. The fact he‘s a white supremacist is important because it explains the motive just as Obama’s sitting in Wright’s church for 20 years indicates a lot about his views. And you‘d better buy yourself a dictionary at some point because you clearly don’t understand what “apartheid” is. If there was a Jewish apartheid in this country, people would be taxed for not being Christians, almost every politician would be Jewish, and you’d probably be dead.
As for the black problem you keep obsessing over, as true as it is that there are more black criminals and that they commit most of the crime, what percentage of blacks are criminals? 20%? 30? A criminal is someone who commits a crime. Skin color is irrelevant. Do you seriously think people like Clarence Thomas and Herman Cain are out to get you?
What needs to happen is that we need to enforce the laws already on the books, ensure there’s adequate police forces to do so, and most importantly, get rid of all the judges who keep overturning death penalties on frivolous grounds. I just finished reading about one case where the guy was sentenced to death 30 years ago only to have his lawyer appeal it on frivolous grounds until a federal judge declared his sentence invalid because, he said, the jury MIGHT have misinterpreted the directions on the sentencing form because there weren’t enough words separating the words “unanimous” and “mitigating” on the fo

And of course we all know that our Media certainly attempts to down play black crime today especially the ofen and common black on whiite crime which is rampant across the country.. Can you understand where I’m coming from Zion? Surely a request for a little equity is something you could appreciate right?
Secondly you want to play with statiistics. Never seen the one you refer to but don’t really question it. The bigger picture is that blacks making up less than 15% of the US population commit almost 60% of the Violent crime in the US.. That‘s the stat which I’m most concerned with and I believe that it is growing.. Now Companies are forced to put warning labels on cig packs not because ONE cig causes cancer but because the liklihood of cancer increases with the more cigs one consumes.. Get the picture Zion? Surely even in your racist mind you can comprehend the problem… But let me make even simpler for you.. The dnc is terrified (TERRIFIED) that no one would show up for this convention: HENCE all the NEW (not) “free advertising”. People are not important to the socialists: only their agenda is. The think we are cannon fodder…….
BTW, check out TEA PARTY billboards going up all over our state this week.
Report Post »And, wrong, mr.noman! WE THE PEOPLE bought and paid for these billboards. If there weren’t roads to put them on, GOD WOULD HANG THEM FROM THE HEAVENS!

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 9:26amGrandma, you may have something there mam. I am from NC and I know we have good people in NC, despite what Gov. Beverly Purdue would like to make us all appear to be bc we stand for traditional marriage.. If this guy was at Fort Bragg, he was only stationed in NC, not necessarily from NC, but it won’t be portrayed that way. Obama won in NC in 2008 mostly bc of voter fraud, but a lot of it was silenced by ACORN and the democrats.
These acts of violence just seem to keep coming nearing election…strange indeed.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 12:33pm@Kickagrandma, here is the recent story in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. I live in WI and only about a 50 min drive from where the shooting occurred and after reading your post, and reading the article, I think you are on to something.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 6:06pmHorsedancer – If you Marxists would stop committing all of these violent acts, then there wouldn’t be any so-called conspiracies against your kind. And it’s your group of people who hate our military, hate white people, hate Southerners, hate capitalists, hate Christians, and hate anybody who doesn’t agree with your leftist dogma.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 7:42amWhat….no Tea Party connection? ABC falls back on the old “white supremacist” standby. Anybody with militia leanings, a wife, a son and a dog better watch their back…the FBI might be coming.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 7:48amThey will find some way to blame the Tea Party and those who support the 2nd amendment; watch for the administration via Congress and the Media to go like blazes now to get their anti-gun message out.
Here is one danger though; this shooting may cause other extremist groups to seek retaliation on the churches and centers of faith of other people; and thus seek to start off a religous cycle of violence that Obama would love to have – for the sake of crashing down onto all of us with an iron fist once and for all.

You’ve OBVIOUSLY NEVER BEEN AT A TEA PARTY RALLY, or around those who support and believe as the members of this group believe!
I believe you’re one of the “little people,” afraid to leave your home, sitting in your basement writing whatever you read on HuffPo or MMfA, and so proud to repeat that DRIVEL!
Get out go to middle America and meet the real people of the United States of America. We love you, but we don’t like that for which you stand!
Come back to sanity and reality and be successful and earn your riches!

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 8:27amFunny Encinom, the left wing’s rhetoric is full of violence and calls for murder, always has been, it’s part of what they are going back to their founders themselves. The early socialists dreamed of “destroying” Jews, even calling it a good idea (Karl Kautzky particularly shined with that one.) Today the left wing backs the holocaust of unborn children (2 million abortions per year in the US and EU counted together), while catering to criminals and murderers (who suddenly have human rights.) They hate people voicing different opinions, because free speech doesn’t exist in a left wing “utopia” (read that as hell hole.)
And even the great divider in the White House uses similar speech.

Yeah, because no white man would ever have short hair or tattoos in the military. Nope, not possible. Only skinheads have bald heads and tattoos.
Good reporting there MSM!
