Autopsy Finds No Flesh From Ronald Poppo Inside Stomach of Miami Cannibal Rudy Euguene

Despite chewing off nearly all of a homeless man’s face, an autopsy performed on the body of the so-called “Miami cannibal” shows there was no human flesh inside his stomach, The Miami Herald reports.

The Blaze previously brought you the story of Rudy Eugene, 31, who was shot and killed by police after attacking a homeless man named Ronald Poppo on May 26 in Florida, literally eating his face off. By the time officers stopped the assault, nearly 20 minutes after it began, most of Poppo’s face was gone.

The autopsy did reveal, however, flesh in between Eugene’s teeth and multiple undigested pills in his stomach, but investigators have not identified the pills yet, a law enforcement source told The Miami Herald.

The Herald continues:

Fueled by the Internet and widespread interest in the macabre case, some media reports have dubbed Eugene the “Causeway Cannibal” and the “Miami Zombie.”

The chatter even led the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to issue a statement last week denying the existence of a zombie virus, and Los Angeles celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred to hold a much-panned press conference in Miami decrying the ills of cannibalism.

Eugene’s autopsy records have not been released to the public, and will likely not become available until Miami-Dade prosecutors finish their review of the shooting. That could take more than a year.

So far, Poppo has…been unable to tell Miami detectives what happened.

A preliminary review found the presence of marijuana in Eugene’s system, a law enforcement source said, which was no surprise because Eugene’s family and friends widely reported that he was fond of smoking pot.

But marijuana doesn’t usually spark violent attacks. Whether the pills found in his stomach played a role in Eugene’s outburst of violence is unknown. Toxicology tests will take weeks to complete.

Investigators assume some type of drug fueled Eugene’s bizarre behavior, but they have no indication that he may have used “bath salts,” a synthetic stimulant that in some cases can lead to psychotic episodes, paranoia and violence. Miami’s police union has speculated that Eugene might have been acting under the influence of bath salts.

Bath salts is a “potent hallucinogenic drug” and side effects reportedly include paranoia, hallucinations, convulsions, and psychotic episodes, according to The Daily Mail.

Poppo, 65, is recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He has undergone multiple skin grafts in attempt to salvage some of his mutilated face. Photos of the homeless man that were released after the attack were dubbed “unbelievably horrifying.”

There were chunks of Poppo’s flesh found on the ground following the horrifying ordeal, which indicates Eugene spit it out after tearing it off with his teeth. Also reportedly found at the scene were torn up pieces of a Bible and a set of gold teeth in Eugene’s pants.

A source tells The Herald that the skin found on the concrete sidewalk was baked under the hot sun for a period of time after the attack. As a result, it could not be used to help put his face back together.

A funeral was held Saturday for Eugene. The Miami Herald reported about 150 people attended the service.

The program handed out at the funeral described Eugene as “a boy who aspired to the best, to a man who was focused on enjoying his piece of the American dream” by owning a car-detailing business.

Eugene’s brother, Marckenson Eugene, said his brother was always there for him and often helped him pay the bills when money was tight.

      I’ll catch a lot of crap but I would say prayers for both. Way more prayers for Poppo, because he is still living. I have no ideal, if prayers for those who are dead help. It can’t hurt, but that is more theology than I want to get into of know.
      They let themselves down here & there thru the years. Someone let Eugene down in a big way memorial day weekend, himself or friends (?). That is a lot of pills they found in his body. Some one gave or sold him their pills. they need to be put in check/jail. If someone is not prosecuted there will be more people using those same pills distributed by the same person on a hot weekend like 4th of July or memorial day.
      Some people are shying away from using those pills, but most will go right back to it after a period of time. With a prosecution & the evidence coming out in the media maybe more people will take note & stop using it.

      Not to be critical, but no, prayers for the dead do no good. Without going into a lot of theology, we have the opportunity in this life to be reconciled to God, but after that comes judgement.

      It seems to me that the Catholics do a lot of praying for dead loved ones. It also seems to me that there might be more to it than just this life, which is very important that you live it & live well with out stepping over people’s backs.

      If there were just this life then what about purgatory & limbo. It seems to me that the Muslims have a version of purgatory too.

      Like I said it was beyond my current understanding.

      Not to be critical; but, Jesus prayed to His Spirit and resurrected the dead, and the Apostle Paul prayed to Jesus – But – They didn’t try to resurrect the Wicked – But, Lazerus was left out of the picture, and both Jesus and Paul were approved.

    the way the surveillance is shot you can tell the security guard monitoring the screens didn’t notice anything until the police squads began arriving and then he zoomed in on the activity. it’s almost a blessing. that crazed animal rolled and flipped his poor victim halfway down the sidewalk, that overpass seems it would have to be maybe minimum 20′ wide. if he hadn’t, there would have been a lot more graphic footage than this little bit on film.

    @JZS You must have made a mistake- Revelation 18:13 talks about merchants not being able to sell their goods during the tribulation- recheck your reference. If what you quoted is in the Bible I would like to know where.

    So he just used his teeth to rip a man’s face and eyes off/out?

    I hope he gets the death sentence. His mother interviewed for Daily Mail co UK last week saying HER SON WOULD NEVER harm anohter person. What an idiot. He was surrounded by police. People took pictures from cars. I want to watch HER while her son gets the needle. Pass the popcorn!

      He did get the death sentence, A cop finally came and pumped him full of lead. Ron Poppo ( the old guy with the goatee ) has been getting grafts in an attempt to give him some sort of face again.

      I agree with what Glenn said on June 23, 2009 when he had a TV show, that the end of times is near. His Words have agreed with Biblical prophecy in ever instance and these so called “zombies” only prove, yet again, the Truth in Glenn’s Word.

      I also agree that each of us, if we’re smart should prepare for the evil time ahead. First, I bought lot guns and ammo of course. If you run out of food or water, well, you’ll be glad you have the guns and ammo. Just sayin’. Then I bought a lot of Godline coins – yeah I checked around but these guys know exactly how to extract the most money for the least value. I trust them. I almost forgot about water, but now I have 10 gallons stored in my garage to supplement tap water.

      Yeah, I’m prepared. Don‘t come runnin’ to me when the end of times comes. I’ve got my guns, remember, and I’m a really tough guy prepared for whatever prof icy Glenn has thrown my way.

      Many talk show hosts have commercials for gold from different vendors. Well you are not going to buy gold from all of them. So it is rather obvious to research 3 to 7 companies.

      BTW Dave Ramsey is a Christian minister who preaches getting out of debt. I think you would like him. You might find the message repetitive after a while, but it would be hard to fault him for anything.
      Literally working your way out of debt & not taking on new debt is his radio ministry. He does not advocate owning gold.

      I noted that Savage made commercials for gold back in 2006 & before. His heart did not seem to be in it like it is now. Mike Savage has a lot of passion when he is talking about Demoncats & Republicrats. He calls it 2 card monte. Nowadays however Savage fully believes in owning gold. Raising the debt ceiling, printing money & out of control spending on those who do not work will do that to you.

      Getting prepared without a way to defend yourself is worthless. So this video is for you JZS

      A) Revelation 18:13 says nothing of the sort…

      B) In my initial studies of the Bible it was recommended that you shouldn’t just read the single verse, but the verse that comes before it, and the verse that follows too. In the spirit of that philosophy, I will quote not only Revelation 18:13, but also the two verses that came before it, and after it:

    Okay, is it just me, or is that photo above not actually Mr. Poppo being hauled away on a stretcher & Eugene’s body is still on the ground on the far right side of the photo? And does it look to anyone else like Poppo’s right leg is SEVERED above the ankle?? BIZARRE.

    Remember minuets after the attack the media said it was cocaine that did it (based on zero evidence). Now it’s bath salts again with no evidence. Nobody knows the real reason at this point. Maybe it was a zombie virus after all.
