Awesome First Look: Real Navy Seals Star in Upcoming ‘Act of Valor’ Movie

A trailer has finally been released for the upcoming “Act of Valor” movie that has created a lot of pre-release buzz because the Navy SEALS in the film are played by actual active-duty SEALS.Real Navy Seals Star in Upcoming Act of Valor Movie

The movie is loosely based on previously conducted Navy SEAL missions, and SEALS advised on all the tactics and action sequences. The film reportedly has the full support and backing of the Navy, which would seem necessary, as active duty U.S. Navy SEALS aren’t just consulting for the film– they are starring in it.

And from what the trailer shows, the Department of Defense was quite willing to supply aircraft, submarines, and assorted high-tech gadgets to make “Act of Valor” the most realistic SEAL film to date.
Real Navy Seals Star in Upcoming Act of Valor Movie

A synopsis and a new trailer have just been released, and the visuals already look pretty incredible. While fictional, “Act of Valor” will try to fit its plot into current events to heighten realism, which according to the Collider means the film follows a Navy SEAL squad on a covert mission to recover a kidnapped CIA agent, and in the process takes down a complex web of terrorist cells determined to strike America at all costs.

The filmmakers had unprecedented access to Naval Special Warfare resources, which led to never-before-seen military operation scenes. In fact, part of the film’s ultra-realism comes from the fact that it started out as a recruitment video for Naval Special Warfare Command. Now, “Act of Valor” is set for a multi-million dollar release.

“Act of Valor” hopes to capitalize on the heightened interested in Navy SEALS after the successful SEAL Team 6 mission to kill Osama Bin Laden in May. It is scheduled to be released many months ahead of Kathryn Bigelow’s also highly anticipated “Killing Bin Laden” film, which is supposed to hit theaters this fall.Real Navy Seals Star in Upcoming Act of Valor Movie

The screenwriter for “Act of Valor,” Kurt Johnstad, is already well-known for a smash-hit film showcasing the military of ancient Sparta in 300. Other than SEALS and unknown actors in lead roles, the film will co-star Roselyn Sanchez  of “Rush Hour 2” and Emilio Rivera of “Traffic.”Real Navy Seals Star in Upcoming Act of Valor Movie

While many of its action sequences were shot to to mimic first person video game combat experiences, directors Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy tried to capture more than just the SEALS’ incredible battlefield skills. Mike McCoy has said of his hopes for the film:

“We believe the authenticity of Act of Valor will transcend demographic, race and political lines. We hope viewers will get a rare glimpse into the SEAL community and that their lives will be as enriched by the experience as ours have been.”

Watch the trailer below to get a first look at this pulse-pounding action flick, starring some of the world’s most elite warriors:

“Act of Valor” is set to hit theaters across the country in February 2012.

Whah shore, whah not tell the world ALL our military secrets? Lets’s churn out them books and hahr reel seels to do movin pichurs to show them all what we do and how…
Since our CIC has no clue how (and no desire) to help us remain the world power and influence for good that we’ve been for so long, this is certainly a novel way to bring us down – to achieve that “level playing field” he wants so much…
We’re not just saddened over his goals becoming increasingly apparent (didn’t he use the word “transparent”?) but, more than that, over so many fellow-countrymen who still glory in their naivete. To ignore all the many warnings and (no pun intended) red flags during his campaign and vote for him anyway, and then continually defend such a choice makes us wonder if an IQ test for voters isn’t an idea-become-necessary. Or, as the wise admonition goes, “If you don’t understand the issues, stay home; don’t vote.” This next election, if we have one, will see a lot of votes purchased, just like the “protesters” on Wall Street who’ve been hired to be “volunteers.” Since nothing’s been done to prevent its recurrence, methinks the voter fraud coming up will probably be the greatest show on earth.

I agree, and you can count on it being bought and paid for if he is re-elected. There needs to be a limit on campaign spending. and donations This last presidential election was unbelievable. A small mostly black community here in OH welcomed Cuba Gooding at their door to register them to vote. Then they bused thousands in to actually vote.. The Black Panthers who intiminated voters, the unions that basically forced their workers to vote for Obama , and the indoctrinated college students definitely helped Obama get in. The brainwashing form the media and the Endowment of the Arts that used their positions to push him through with art, movies, commercials, t-shirts etc. assured his win. Voter fraud will only be worse in 2012. God help us if we even have an election and God help us if we lose.

I highly doubt any classified information is going to be realeased in this movie. Calm down guys, they are going to use the information that is already highly available on the internet about our gear. I can almost guarentee it. This will give away about as much info as “Future Weapons” or any other Military Channel show gives away. You really think the Navy would be so stupid as to accidently film our covert weapon systems? Stop freaking out about everything

Before you shoot your mouth off and try to seem important, you should brush up on the powers of Commander-in Chief of The United States of America. You can have doubts about people’s honesty – but calling people a liar who you have no idea what you are talking about. I am honorable, I don’t lie. As I said in an earlier post, I met this person because I do military support. I “adopt” people for the duration of their deployment. He just happened to be a person that I was assigned to for his deployment to send out care packages. I have continued to support him on other deployments and other members of his family, who I have met. Why is that so impossible to believe?

UCMJ code used to prevent active duty soldiers from appearing in any public ads or moving pictures of any kind without the express consent from the Pentagon. Who in their right mind would approve an endeavor that details our tactics and compromises the security of our soldiers? This is simply unconcientable, irresponsible, and borders on sabotage. This sort of usupation should be considered a traitorous act and equal to espionage. Do not participate in this subversion!

For one, the U.S. military does not have a set tactic for attacking a target. It has an ever evolving large group of tactics at its disposal. Every situation is dynamic and there could be many ways to accomplish a mission. For any set of large operations the military uses a tactic and waits to see if the enemy adapts and if they do they immediately change and do something completely unexpected. Trained enemy combatants are already aware of modern military tactics and we overwhelm them with superior weaponry, technology and training. Nobody is better then our trained military professionals and there is not a damn thing are enemies can do about it.

I agree. If you look at movies of the recent past, they’re so far removed from reality, there isn’t any tactical value to their release. A Few Good Men had actors that couldn’t lead, didn’t imitate Marines, but you speak to civilians and they say it’s the best military movie, ever. Top Gun: the aviators would never leave the ship. “NavySeals” the movie, was so phony, I never saw the end. If the permission comes from “the top”, it’s with the intention to recruit, not instruct. The trailer showed movement but I didn’t see much detailed technology. I can tell you this, 91A, a movie I won’t name, many years ago had many AD sailors in it, and the guy in the White House had cut back the budget so bad, the only way they got crucial equipment was to get it donated by the producers when they finished the film, in lieu of pay. We paid for necessities out of our own pockets because if we didn’t, none of us would have what we needed to function. The medics I met said the corpsmen got the better training. We saw the 91B’s got the better equipment. (I don’t know why, but most medics let us “rob them blind”, of anything they had.) There is a symbiosis in cases like this. See the movie. Get the truth out. You’ll know the right thing to do. May God bless you (your families!!!) and your buddies for your high standards and fine service.

Now almost everything that is classified is classified for a cover up of some high level corruption. I don’t think that is the method that Top Secret. Secret and confidential classified material was designed to be done by our military. Some Hollywood nut has gotten approval from the White House to make a different movie of the Ben Laden kill and it is to come out before the next election. I wonder why????.

Seriously: do you think most SEAL tactics are not already known, with the hundreds of books out there, first person shooters, and the fact that there are only limited number of ways you can kill people?

What are top secret are tactical objectives. The key is not that people know what you can do, but who you plan on doing it to, when, and among the range of options, how. Speed, ferocity, and surprise are the keys. This was as true 2,000 years ago as it is today.

I’ll definitely go see this movie.

I’ll support the seals and the directors of this movie because they have the balls to show a movie, that show the Blood, Sweat and Tears and what these men give to this country when most in Hollywood would show the opposite, Maybe that why there using real seal in the movie and not Hollywood actors. But it doesn‘t change the fact that foreign country’s that hate us,have used Hollywood in the past. In my state a DMV employee probably has a bigger payday and better fringe benefits than any SEAL.
The difference…the DMV employee has every state holiday marked on his or her calendar. A SEAL prays he will survive his next mission so he will be able to see his family one more time. A DMV employee has only one real danger to face. That danger is the risk of a civilian going postal because he has been treated so rudely. Does that anawer your question as to their differences ?
