Awkward Fail: Alvin Greene Recites His Talking Points…Over and Over

The interview with South Carolina Senatorial Candidate Alvin Greene (D) on yesterday’s “Last Word” went something like this (paraphrased):
Lawrence O’Donnell [Host]: Are you a witch?
Greene: Jim DeMint started the recession.
O’Donnell: Why is your nickname “turtle?”
Greene: Jim DeMint started the recession.
O’Donnell: Seriously, you don’t have to stick to your talking points that much. Why were you called “turtle?”
Greene: No. Jim DeMint started the recession.
O’Donnell: Explain some of your disagreements with Jim DeMint.
Greene: Jim DeMint started the recession.
While the above back-and-forth is technically a paraphrase, it is only barely so. The rest of the interview is equally awkward and baffling:
Mediaite counted the DeMint comments for us:
Greene said essentially the exact words “DeMint started the recession” or “DeMint is responsible for the recession” ten different times, and said similar things a couple times besides that.
This all makes it even more remarkable that O’Donnell concluded the interview by paying Greene an extremely backhanded compliment: “Alvin Greene = still better than Jim DeMint.”

Do they WANT South Carolina to be the laughing stock of the nation? Do they WANT Greene to endure this humiliation? If Greene has to debate DeMint, some people will think they’re watching an SNL skit! Greene is JUST not up to the job. The people who voted for him should have to watch ANY debate he’s in (OR any interview) and think about what they did in voting for this guy.
This is like when no one will tell someone they JUST CANNOT sing and then you see them on American Idol. They shouldn’t be there and Greene should not be running for the senate. Someone should have told him long ago that he just doesn’t have what it takes. I’d like to believe HE should know this himself. He can’t be standing up there in a debate repeating the same sentence over and over in response to his opponents comments. When I heard this on Glenn’s show and heard him say over and over “Jim DeMint started the recession”, it was like someone was pulling a string in his back. WHO is feeding Greene this garbage?? Who is setting him up for this terrible fall?
And that loser O’Donnell — I knew he was nuts the time he flipped out on someone during some interview. They had to turn his mike off and Joe Scarborough returned from the commercial break without him. Real funny, O’Donnell, saying Alvin Greene is still better than Jim DeMint. What a rectal orifice. I hope his inbox was overloaded with angry emails as a result of this interview. MSNBC is quite the joke cable network. “Lean Forward”? Right, and fall flat on your face, thanks to the likes of O’Donnell and Matthews. Just WHAT does one have to do to be fired from MSNBC? Who WAS the last person to be fired from this network? I don‘t know since I don’t watch it any more. And to think I almost felt sorry for O’Donnell for having to pull answers out of Greene.

It should disgust people that the Democratic Party has left this guy to hang out on the vine to whither and to be publically humiliated, quietly hoping that he just goes away . . .
They could have in the least prepared him; taken it to task to advance Mr. Greene’s abilities. The Democratic Party has only discredited itself here as being cruel and irresponsible. After all, Alvin Green is another human being that obviously means well despite his delivery and abilities to publically speak. What‘s really going on inside his head is anybody’s guess, but John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men” comes to mind. Put all judgments aside; empathy certainly must come to the forefront when watching him and listening to him. And consider that the crux of his legal issues are relative to his state of mind; are they not? And then, what did Alvin Greene really do that Bill Clinton didn’t do . . . in that regard, cigars, blue dresses and all?
But the real point of interest here is found by looking at O’Donnell as a representative of liberalism, his attitude towards Mr. Greene. It’s quite obvious Greene was not too pleased to hear O’Donnell question him about being called the “Turtle” while in high school. Would anyone care to bet that the “Turtle” is in part a set of uncomfortable memories that Mr. Greene has that perhaps came to him as bullying and teasing at some point in his past? He was bullied by little liberals . . . now resurrected by big liberals, liberalism again. If that is the case, it’s highly ironic then that Mr. Green is attempting to defend and represent an ideology that inflicts pain and finds humor in displaying one’s areas of personal development that are in need. The dirty little secret here is that liberalism is a state of arrested emotional development that Mr. O’Donnell has put on full display.
But more, what’s profoundly on display here is the hypocritical nature of Liberalism’s infamous “compassion.” We all know that Liberals are for the most part bullies in the ways in which they conduct themselves and get things accomplished. To hell with Obama’s “Chicago thug Politics;” liberalism’s sickness runs much deeper.
Whether Greene has an R or D after his name is secondary to the attitude that O’Donnell approached this interview with. That O’Donnell puts him on display and then uses the question regarding the “turtle” to set the tone of his interview is highly disrespectful to the most basic principles of humanity when you consider that O’Donnell never for a moment took this very seriously. It was a charade. He made that quite evident with his closing statement.
