Awkward Moment on Fox Set: Gretchen Carlson Disavows Hank Williams Jr’s Obama & ‘Hitler’ Comment

Hank Williams Jr. may end up regretting an analogy he made this morning on “Fox & Friends.”
When Williams shared his political opinions with the show’s hosts, the interview became awkward and concluded with Gretchen Carlson publicly disavowing some of Williams’ statements — particularly a comment that was made about President Barack Obama and Adolf Hitler.
(Update: Hank Jr’s song has been pulled from the “Monday Night Football opening)
When asked by Gretchen Carlson who he likes in the GOP presidential race, Williams responded, “Nobody.” It was after this that the conversation took a bizarre turn. Here is a transcript of the dialogue that followed:
HANK WILLIAMS: Remember the golf game?
STEVE DOOCY: Boehner?
HANK WILLIAMS: That was one of the biggest political mistakes ever.
CO-HOSTS: Why?
HANK WILLIAMS: That turned a lot of people off. You know, watching, you know, it just didn’t go over.
GRETCHEN CARLSON: You mean when John Boehner played golf with President Obama?
HANK WILLIAMS: Oh, yeah! Yeah. And Biden and Kasich, yeah. Uh-huh.
GRETCHEN CARLSON: What did you not like about it? It seems to be a really pivotal moment for you.
HANK WILLIAMS: Come on. Come on. It would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu, OK?
After the statement was made, all three Fox hosts look surprised, if not uncomfortable. Carlson had a visible look of shock on her face, while Brian Kilmeade said, ”Yeah, I don’t understand that analogy, actually.”
At the end of the uncomfortable interview, Carlson said that she disavowed Williams’ comments. Watch the scenario unfold, below:

ESPN has now pulled the opening for “Monday Night Football.” Read our follow-up report here.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 11:23amWhat is with them disavowing what some on their show says? It shows complete cowardice and insecurity. If someone answered their question by saying Jesus was sorcerer I wouldn’t expect them to have to publicly say they disagreed with that.
Shame of FOX. They should know better than to behave like ninnies worried about what people might think when someone says something on their show.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 12:20pmAll Hitler references are taboo. Maybe he should have said it would be like Bugs Bunny playing golf with Elmer Fudd, Yoda vs. the Emperor, etc. It’s not so hard to understand, Brian, he was reaching for an extreme example of enemies. You don’t HAVE to automatically stretch the comparison to include EVERYTHING about what those two sides stand for–just the part that one would have wanted the other dead. And in Obama vs. Boehner’s case, they want each other dead POLITICALLY.
Magneto vs. Charles Xavier?
Jesus vs. Lucifer?
More anyone?

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 12:28pmRight, I’ve noticed a considerable slide to the left by Fox News. I’ve stopped watching most of it since Glenn left. They are too politically correct and have too many left leaning hosts and guests. We don’t need to apologize for the truth. That is what the Progressive/Communists want to force us to do.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 12:33pmThe media is a funny thing. They are hard to trust and even harder to listen to. That is why most of us depend on sites like The Blaze and American Parchment. We turn to reliable conservative sources that show us what we need to hear, not what the media thinks we need to hear.
Example: Have you seen that the media is still talking about Christie running, though he has said no almost 100 tiimes: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/oct/reagan_not_christie.html . George Will lays it out for everyone on ABC. Can we trust them or do we even want their choice in candidates?

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 12:34pmI stopped watching Fox and Friends when Gretchen was hired … and I don‘t watch the Factor segments she’s on either. She is too politically correct, and generally unattractive. She reminds everyone that she won a beauty contest, but her beauty faded a long time ago. Now she relies on her loud mouth and stunts to get attention. Sad … she’s helping to bring Fox News down to the same standards as the lame stream media. There are fewer and fewer shows that I watch on Fox.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 12:47pmI posted about this issue but didn‘t see it come up so I’ll try again. Disavowing someones comments is totaly going the way of political correctness. It‘s ridiculous that people can’t even give an opinion without worry about who they will offend. Now they are offending Fox. No one asked Gretchen what she thought about his comment so why did she chime in hers? I have noticed that Fox seems to be going the way of the PC crowd and if they are not careful, they will be losing alot of their viewers, just like the rest of them. That’s sad because I felt Fox was the only one I could rely on. Did anyone see the story on Fox about the man whose back was carved with the star of David? I didn’t. I am grateful for the Blaze for giving us the news. If it wasn’t for them and Beck, we wouldn’t know half of what is really going on.

You know, I am glad you brought this up because I agree with you. She’s not the only one on Fox who dresses like that. You are right, it’s hard to take them seriously when the skirt is up to their neck and their tops are down to their waist. I have to laugh when I see their commentators talking and the clevage is so huge it looks like a hind end. Actually, one of the grils had on a dress the other day that covered everything and she looked very professional. Makes a difference.

All his crying and I recall there being rumors of Boehner having an affair just before he swore in as Speaker. Then they went hush-hush. Maybe because they aren’t true or maybe a deal was made…who knows. He sure cried a lot then. Ever since then though Boehner seems to have become a real RINO. Now, he seems to have aided Obama and Dems to set up this SUPER COMMITTEE to not have to answer to the freshmen Tea Party members. I really am smelling a BIG BOEHNER RAT! Posted on October 3, 2011 at 1:54pm@Faith1029, I agree that Fox News must have told the gals to let it all hang out, and it rather annoyed me that they dress so provocatively and unprofessional. I did see a couple of the gals wearing a higher neckline and it really made me feel more comfortable like they had more serious matters of the news on their minds rather than deliberately showing cleavage. Fox has taken a back seat since Glenn Beck left. I’m very aware of it.
The poor country singer made a stupid analogy and all hell breaks loose. But “it was true.” What the heck is happening to our Country when you can’t make an accurate analogy of a situation and not be called names and treated like a leper? There was nothing to apologize for. This PC is stupid.

Obama’s College Classmate Speaks Out
This is it in a nutshell !!
If he is re-elected in 2012, the US is finished. The following is in simple language
that everyone can understand. Not the gibberish that our government keeps telling people.
OBAMA’S COLLEGE CLASSMATE SPEAKS OUT
By Wayne Allyn Root , June 6th, 2010
Barack Hussien Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent.
To the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he’s doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social chaos — thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.
Barack Hussien Obama was my college classmate.
( Columbia University , class of ‘83).
He is a devout Muslim do not be fooled.
Look at his Czars…anti-business..anti- american.
As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Barack Hussien Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University . They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system
with government spending and entitlement demands.
Add up the clues below. Taken individually they’re alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival … and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government.
Why not? They

I know he isn’t that stupid but I guess I am not watching fox and friends any more just for this reason. I believe is right couldn’t figure it out why he played gold with Odumbo. Plus bi parasitisn? Obama only wanted him to go golf probably to threaten him in to seeing odumbo’s ways

Obama is compiling an enemies’ list on-line, Obama said he wanted wanted a National Police Force equal to the military. Sounds a lot like 1939 Germany to me. Oh, that’s right, you libs had your ‘progressive’ education which didn’t go into the details of what the Brown Shirts did to the German population. Posted on October 3, 2011 at 11:13amWhy would Carlson feel the need to disavow a comment like that? It didn’t make sense to me, either, but it was HIS comments…not Carlsons. I (we) are smart enough to figure that out. Jr. was practicing his first amendment right, Gretchen or the rest of the FaF’s crew had nothing to do w/it.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 11:24amSimple. You heard what Obama said over the weekend about the debate when folks in the audience booed the Gay soldier who sent in a question right? He admonished the Republicans because they didn’t say anything to denounce the booing from the audience. It was a question being asked to Rick Santorum and he looked like a deer in headlights at first and didn’t act like he knew what to say. Now, I doubt the Pres. will say anything GOOD about Gretchen’s reaction since she works for Fox, but I guarantee they would denounce the network if she/they hadn’t. We‘re playing their games on their terms and we can’t win. We’re racists just because we disagree with the man. It’s like Glenn has been saying for a while now…”Content of character, NOT the color of our skin.”

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 11:12amLeviticus 18: 22 (Paraphrased) Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an enormous sin. 25 That entire country (America) is defiled with this kind of activity: that is why I am punishing the people living there, and will throw them out of the land.
Leviticus 19: 17 Don’t hate your brother. Rebuke anyone who sins: don’t let him get away with it, or you will be equally guilty.
MalachI 2:15 You (Man) are united to your wife (Woman) by the Lord. In God’s wise plan, when you married, the two of you became one person in his sight.
