AZ Sheriff Authorizes Lethal Force Against Cartels, Bandits

Drug smugglers and border bandits have been threatening citizens and law enforcement in southern Arizona for long enough and one county Sheriff is taking a stand.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu has announced his police department plans to use deadly force, if necessary, to finally drive the dangerous criminals out of the area. Local ABC affiliate KGUN reports:

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has recently been in the spotlight for sniffing out smugglers and their drug loads. Sheriff Babeu told KGUN9 News he’s about to go on the offensive with a massive show of force to stop smugglers and bandits.

“We’re sending out three different teams of eight to fifteen deputies in each that are heavily armed, even with sniper teams, out to the desert at all hours of the day and night,” Babeu said.

Typically, deputies would sneak up on smugglers before arresting them, but Babeu says not this time.

“We‘re going to wait until these cartel members come on through and we’re going to announce ourselves in Spanish in this known drug smuggling corridor. That this is the Sheriff, drop your weapons, you’re under arrest,” Babeu said.

In the week following the shooting death of a Border Patrol agent, the Sheriff admits the chances of having a gun fight in the desert are extremely high. After all, it‘s the same desert where one of his deputies was shot and where they’ve seized thousands of pounds of drugs. Babeu says deadly force will be used if his deputies confront dangerous cartels.

“I’ve given specific instruction, no less than lethal force is going to be used. It‘s all lethal force only and we go into that environment knowing that we’re likely expecting an armed threat from these people,” Babeu said.

County Supervisor Pete Rios says he wished the federal government would have taken the initiative to better protect the border region so that local law enforcement officials weren’t forced to put their lives on the line.

Supervisor Rios told 9OYS he thinks deputies could be put to better use by trying to decrease response times. Rios says it currently takes a Pinal County deputy anywhere from 10 to 12 minutes to respond to a priority call. Rios admitted he knows Sheriff Babeu will do what he thinks is best for the community.

“If at the end of the day the sheriff feels compelled to do it, he will do it. I have a lot of respect for the Sheriff and what he thinks is the best interest for the county he will obviously do,” Rios said.

      Too late. Congress away the country and has allowed Russians inspecting our defense systems. The US hands are tied. Too late. The governor of Arizona and the Arizona police force must back Sheriff Babeu. If not, he is in danger of the Feds. All of the police in Ariz. should arrest any fed entering the country and deport them to Mexico. Don’t you think?

      Heavy…we are thinking along the same line. I think the drugs are being allowed in because it is the main source of income for the Mexicans and also many drug dealers in the U.S. They complain about Capitalism but this is BIG BUSSINESS at its best.. Too much SPREAD THE WEALTH here to stop it.

      Yessir, you’ve just “Quantified” exactly “Whom” the Sheriff will need the most help fighting in all this. The Deputies he has will probably be more than sufficient to get the attention of the invading hoards of criminals, BUT there WILL BE a counter attack by Institutionalized Criminals, launched from the North. IF, the Sheriff has the strength of his convictions, and sticks to his guns, the FEDS WILL, if neccessary, use FORCE to put down his Perceived INSURRECTION. All those that say they want to Volunteer, should be prepared to move to reinforce and relieve the County Authorities when they need it. Think about it, carefully, you will probably end up shooting at peple wearing various U.S. Uniforms, not Mexican Coyotes and Smugglers.

      IF, this bothers you, then please stay home and out of the way of those that have their job cut out for them.

The more illegals that are here, the more likely they are to get amnesty for them and they in turn, of course, will vote Dumbocrat. We need to pin a medal on that sheriff, he is a true American patriot! I used to live in Phoenix and always had a great respect for Sheriff Joe Arpaio because he treated criminals, like criminals! He makes them wear pink jumpsuits and live in tent cities. We need to clone him and have him in all the cities and running all the jails!!!

    The U.S. should take all steps necessary to stop the invasion. The people on THIS side of the border are the ones who should be protected not the ones coming from the other side. The only reason I can think of for our govt. NOT protecting our people first is because they’re okay with the silent invasion and the drugs and the violence. Why is that? Never mind, I don’t really care about the answer anymore. The American people have been patient, compassionate and used up the wazoo. If we force our elite, liberal, bleeding heart, elected officials and THEIR families to live on the border – do you think THAT would make things perfectly clear? There is a time when politcal correctness becomes political and personal stupidity. That time is now. In fact that time happened a long time ago.

      My best friend volunteers his services for our local law enforcement and his only credentials are no criminal record, and a concieled weapons permit ($70 in WA) he said he had to pass the police shooting range qualifications like all the officers and he has participated in raiding drug houses, going on patrol, he goes out with the game wardens to catch poachers, it sounds like fun, he says they are more then happy to get free help from the public.

      but nobody ever volunteers. . . time to put up or shut up. . . i know if i lived on the border i would.

    We live in Tucson, Arizona and I can tell you first hand that Janet Napolitano and Barack Obama are flat out lying about the border situation. We love Sheriff Paul Babeu and Sheriff Joe Arpaio. They are the ONLY THING standing between Arizona and the Mexican Drug Cartels. Napolitano and Holder have neutered the Border Patrol so they can do very little.

    Then Napolitano has the balls to come to the funeral service for our MOST RECENT killed border agent (a real man). Nappy is despicable. I think she is worried that they will not be able to smuggle in her male hormone drugs. Just sayin.

    May God go with the Sheriff and his deputies and keep them safe. Of course the DOJ will put a stop to this real quick. We wouldn’t want these innocent and hard working “undocumented immigrants” (illegal aliens to the rest of us) to be abused or have their rights violated. Just because they are heavily armed and are in possession of large amounts of drugs doesn’t make them bad people.

      How come we can have troops all over the world, and we need local law enforcement to take it upon themselves to do the right thing? Big Sis wont like this, she seems to not mind that we are being invaded by paramilitary cartel forces. Looks like the law enforcement heros in Arizona have to take on the burden of operating as a military force, they need our full support. If the government wont defend this nation, its civilians will. We need to protect our firearms rights. We need to vote the professional politicians out of office. The price of freedom is blood. However we need bleeders who are professionals. Having yahoos go fight on the boarder cuz they want to know what it feels like to kill someone will put an end to any boarder protection. The mexicans being slaved across the boarder are often refugees, good people looking to escape a bad life. They need our help, and should be treated with kindness and humanity. The cartel operators who are armed and dangerous should have bounties put on their heads. If the mexican people had firearms, the cartels would be finished. These people have a history of fighting injustice. Law enforcement needs to be enabled, if they are not, regular folks will take on the job. That will result in some good, and well documented bad. Murders, friendly fire, poorly handled medical emergencies , people there for the wrong reasons, it will make a bad situation worse. We need pros. Hope the government changes and puts the pros on the boarder because this crap has gone to far. I have a felling that people will stop waiting for Big Sis to do the job. That will be a scar on our nation and humanity.

      Keep in mind, the feds should build a fence…and FUND the border STATES for all necessary police needs. WE DO NOT WANT FEDERAL TROOPS in any state. That is what Posse Comitatus is for, to protect the citizens from Federal military action on U.S. soil. Give the border states the funding so they can have what they need. This is also why each citizen should have the right to bear arms…against the people in power who want to destroy the country. They WANT to cause a Crisis so they can inforce MARTIAL LAW…

      We dont need federal troops to defend the border states.
      All that are needed is for their own national guard troops to defend their borders from cartel’s invasion.

      Do you have anything against a state’s own national guard actually doing its job?
      One govener should be able to ask adjacent govs for their national guard troops aswell…say if California or Arizona cant handle the work load…they can ask Oregon and Colorado for assistance…

      I simply think that if Obama were to insert national troops into the frey they would simply be ordered to protect the cartel smuggling routes and detain anyone who might hinder the smuggler’s progress.

    About time for this to happen; the blasted Fed’s and that traitor Napoletano the little napoleono of HSA-KGB Inc. will do absolutely nothing for our border security and does everything to make sure the state is broken to the tune of DC; expect all hell to fly from DC over this, and there is a high possibility that even troops may soon be coming to occupy the state.

      You are right Snow..but keep in mind WE DO NOT want troops to occupy the State. Keep in mind…Posse Comitatus….after the War Between the States the U.S. troops occupied the southern states for 10 yrs. We do not want this. But I am afraid the Administration would love to inforce Martial Law. Arizona needs to use state law to put up signs….DEADLY FORCE will be used, then use it. Not the signs telling U.S. Citizens that it is dangerous to be on American soil. The feds should build the border fence and theN while they are ‘re-distributing’ the money, they can fund the states needs for more law enforcement…but under State Law…DON’T LET THE FEDS TAKE OVER . i TRUST our military, but we cannot let this Communist Group in the White House put federal troops in the states.

      Not quite sure where you get the idea that we cannot use the military to defend our borders? What do you think 1776 and the battles after that were about, defending our shores from the British. Ever hear of the “Battle of New Orleans?” Not sure where this idea came from? Posse Comitatus is to prevent the Military from collecting guns like they did in New Orleans not from defending the country. They cannot be used to stop drug dealers on the corner of Main Street, but they can be used for stopping armed convoys from crossing the border to bring in drugs, illegals and possibly terrorists. I am pretty sure that is what their job is!

      Think about it. Our country is being invaded every day by violent illegal immigrants and there is no “first response”.       The solution. On the border, 1 strand of barbed wire approx 4 feet high. Place 1 skull and crossbone sign every 10 feet. 25 yards inside, do the same thing. Put a tower every 200 yrds and man it with 2 armed pro’s. Anything between the wire gets it. Man, child, dog, cat, lizard don’t matter. Do not bury anything (buzzards need to eat too). After 1 week of this, problem solved.

      The ACS is taking volunteers and we are doing the same thing. We’ve actually worked with Pinal Co., Maricopa Co S.O.’s as well as BP and BLM Rangers in searches, spotter lay up locate and destroy missions, drug interdictions, etc. If you are a Constitutinal Patriot, of sound mind (no psychos nor racists), and have some Military and/or Law Enf. background(not mandatory) and you can work with other patriots in defending our borders.       I agree that this could bring to a head the frustrations felt by American landowners and citizens over our revolving door border. It will be interesting to see just how long it takes for Holder to stick his nose in it. I truely believe that this administration would like nothing better than an uprising from patriotic men and women who just want to be able to live in their homes without feeling threatened. Remember what Rahm Emmanuel said that “you should never let an emergency go to waste”. Telling statement. In as much as we must stand up to communism and socialism, we must conduct ourselves according to law, and put our faith in God who watches over our country. There are good reasons why we state that we are, “One Nation Under God”, for he has delivered us from evil in the past and he will do so in the future. The truth always wins out. Obama would like nothing better than civil unrest and class warfare. We can’t give that to him.

      I hope the cartels dont decide to go to war with Pinal County. I watch Gangland on the History channel enough to know that the cartels have people with advanced american special forces training doing their training…they have their own sniper squads and an endless recruiting base along with endless resources to buy whatever weaponry they need…

      Pinal county only has three squads of what was it? eight…that means 30 soldiers or so against quite possibly thousands of enemies…

      Those of you who asked if they take volunteers…in short my local police force does take volunteers and i bet so does Pinal county…first u have to prove your proficiency with a firearm though and pass a police-style shooting range…and i gurantee you that they need your help…Patriots time to step up!

      Step up and volunteer for your local law enforcement prove to them u can shoot and get your conceiled weapons permits and buy some body armor make a guillie suit, hell if nothing else create a militia, and draw some fire, get it on camera and then you have the right to return fire and and not be prosecuted for it.
