AZ Sheriff Blasts Rush Limbaugh for ‘Irresponsible Rhetoric’

The Arizona sheriff charged with investigating Saturday’s Tucson shooting that has left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition continued his personal campaign against what he calls “vitriolic rhetoric”, despite there being no evidence that any television or radio commentators’ opinions had influenced the shooter, Jared Loughner, in any way.

On Monday, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik singled out one commentator in particular — conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh — and condemned him for spewing “irresponsible rhetoric.”

“The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses partial information, sometimes wrong information,” Dupnik said. “[Limbaugh] attacks people, angers them against government, angers them against elected officials and that kind of behavior in my opinion is not without consequences.”

Dupnik‘s comments about Limbaugh come just hours after he told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he has “no agenda.”

    stupid Beck sarah and limbaugh wouldn’t be so dangerous if there was an equally powerful, legitimate news broadcast to provide factual informatio­n and honest journalism­.     I listen to talk radio ALL the time and I have NEVER, EVER heard any of them advocate using violence. I know, because I have always made a mental note when a liberal actually did advocate real violence and I thought how incredible that was that they ACTUALLY MEANT IT! When I heard Obama say to “bring a gun” – he actually said that – it is on audio – I was ticked off that he could get away with that.
    Sherriff Dupnik is trying to “shift blame” the little coward!!! He knew this kid was a blown danger – maybe his parents are Democrats – that is why he left the kid alone.

    Conservatives who give tons more money to charity than liberals by a long shot – need to speak up and defend yourselves – this is total treachery from the left – check out Michele Malkin’s web site with photos of all the violence that the left advocates. They are not going to get away with this – we will do this the classy way – not the cheap way liberals do things.

So don’t expect the mainstream media to apologize or even admit that they were wrong.

    The tyrants, with virtual control of the mainstream media, are following Joseph Goebbels’ instructions for the dissemination of propaganda. The volume and quantity of lies will be used to bury the truth with the expectation of discrediting and silencing those who advocate freedom.

    The tyrant’s premises are false. So the only arguments that the tyrant can use are fear mongering, emotion, sarcasm, ridicule, attacking the messenger and misrepresentation of the facts (lying). Those who expect to reach huge profits from the misery caused by tyranny are experts at these tactics. These tactics are very effective when the tyrant controls most of the media. I wrote to the Sheriff and pointed out that if HE were doing his job, keeping all the drugs that cross his border from funneling into the entire USA, maybe this murderer, who classmates say was a drug user and his arrest records attest to, would not have had access to easily gotten drugs which must have contributed to his mental state! So Sheriff, do your job and help get the Feds to do their’s at our border! Stop with this foolish political correctness and accusations of bigotry and prejudice! Americans are prejudiced….against LAW BREAKERS!

      This is the report that Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has been dreading since the tragic event on Saturday January 8.

      The sheriff has been editorializing and politicizing the event since he took the podium to report on the incident. His blaming of radio personalities and bloggers is a pre-emptive strike because Mr. Dupnik knows this tragedy lays at his feet and his office. Six people died on his watch and he could have prevented it. He needs to step up and start apologizing to the families of the victims instead of spinning this event to serve his own political agenda.

      Jared Loughner, pronounced by the Sheriff as Lock-ner, saying it was the Polish pronunciation. Of course he meant Scott or Irish but that isn’t the point. The point is he and his office have had previous contact with the alleged assailant in the past and that is how he knows how to pronounce the name.

      Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation. My sympathies and my heart goes out to her and the rest of Mr. Loughner’s family. This tragedy must be tearing them up inside wondering if they had done the right things in trying to manage Jared’s obvious mental instability.

      Every victim of his threats previously must also be wondering if this tragedy could have been prevented if they had been more aggressive in pursuing charges against Mr. Loughner. Perhaps with a felony conviction he would never have been able to lawfully by the Glock 9mm Model 19 that he used to strike down the lives of six people and decimate 14 more.

      This was not an act of politics. This was an act of a mentally disturbed young man hell bent on getting his 15 minutes of infamy. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department was aware of his violent nature and they failed to act appropriately. This tragedy leads right back to Sherriff Dupnik and all the spin in the world is not going to change that fact.

      This is from a very viable blogger from Pima COunty, I seen another blod that searched this blogger and stated he is very good source…. Let’s see what happened here with this sheriff..       Its appalling that this public official would allow his political views to enter into this investigation without any evidence to support his claim. His remarks are out of line, very unprofessional, and detrimental to the tone of the national debate on this issue. He has instantly elevated the rancor with his naiveté. Does he truly believe that movies from the communist pest hole we call Hollywood do nothing to contribute to national anger? Does he believe that the positive comments made by so many big Hollywood critics, actors, directors, and producers regarding “Death of a President” (a mockumentary about the assassination of President G.W. Bush – who was President at the time of this films release) did not bring a new level of abhorrence to the national discord? Perhaps the sheriff has been on the job too long now. His bitterness indicates a deep prejudice, and that is when its time to retire for a public official.

This is turning out to be just another example of why Jefferson warned us not to simply trust, those in power but instead to bind them down with the Constitution. As peace officer, he may have taken an oath to support and defend the Constitution, but it certainly appears he would exclude the 1st Amendment.

      Alaskarick is dead-on accurate. What the left is doing with this tragedy is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my lifetime. Don’t fall for the lies the left keep using to their POLITICAL advantage. The only thing Rush does on the radio is… tell the truth. How many times I have you heard someone from the left go after Rush because he was wrong about something and then proceed to prove Rush wrong? Almost NEVER. Why? Because they don’t like Rush telling the truth about them, so they only stoop to piling-on and mocking him.

      You obviously think that IQ equates to “street smarts”, but it isn’t the case. You can have both, A healthy dose of both, Lots of one and almost none of the other, or have a low quotent of both IQ and common sense (street smarts).

      You misjudge the American people who are no dummies in their majority. Just because someone has a loud voice, doesn’t mean he will succeed in moving the public. Tracking polls of presidents prove this out time after time.

      My questions to the Sheriff are:

      Sir, despite all the warnings moving up through the system about Mr. Loughner, your department didn’t seem to do anything about it. I question, rather than engage in political rhetoric of your own, what did your department know and what actions did it take BEFORE the tragic shootings on Saturday?

      Did your desputies, for example, learn of the complaints about Loughner, and did they then go to area gun stores and politely engage with staffs to alert them to the potential problem? In my view, if you were more engaged in your job, and less engaged in politics, your deputies might have had a better relationship with the community they served. They could have gone around and said: “Hey, we know there is no legal basis to compel you, but we have concerns about a young man that may be very ill; if he comes in here to buy weapons, or ammunition and high-capacity magazines, please consider not selling to him.”

      Clearly, there was no legal means to deny as sale, but any merchant can deny service. The gun strore staff could have said simply, “sorry, we cannot sell this item at this time.“ Kind of like the ”no shirt, no shoes, no service signs one often sees at convenience stores.”

      Instead the Sheriff seems to have spent a lot more time focused on politics and securing his own public position, its high salary and benefits.

      All law enforcement officers are drilled in the proper handling of information to the public in regards as to how it impacts a case. That’s part of the training they ALL go through. That an experienced officer of many years would violate this so loudly and publicly, makes me awful suspicious of the motivations involved. More and more, this is looking like a smoke screen to hide the fact that he and his department were derelict in their duty when it came to Loughner. They screwed up, simple as that. Also makes one wonder if there isn‘t more that’s hiding in this man’s closet that he wants to keep from the light of day. If people start digging deep enough, what are they gonna find? Shakespear comes to mind: “Methinks he Protesteth too much”
