Baby Born With Two Heads Named ‘Emanoel’ and ‘Jesus’

Maria de Nazare, a 25-year-old Brazilian woman, believed when she was going into labor that she would be welcoming two babies into the world.
Instead, the Daily Mail reports, just minutes before giving birth, tests revealed that the twins would share the same heart, lungs, liver and pelvis. The babies have two brains and separate spines.
The Daily Mail has more:
The 25-year-old mother, who lives in a rural area of the state, had no ultra-sound scans during her pregnancy and only found out about the abnormality minutes before the baby was born at 1 a.m. on Monday morning.
[Claudionor Assis de Vasconcelos, director of the hospital where the baby was born] said: “When doctors scanned her they realised that the baby had two heads and that a normal birth would be a great risk both for mother and baby. The caesarean took an hour because the baby was sitting down.
“Despite all the problems we have as a small interior hospital we managed to save both mother and baby, which was our aim. And for us it was a great surprise to find out that the child was in really good health.”
The Daily Mail reports Neila Dahas, director of the Santa Casa hospital, as saying that removing one of the heads was not even an option as both of the brains were functioning. Separation of the babies is impossible.
The Daily Mail goes on to report that de Nazare named the babies Emanoel and Jesus due to their Christmastime birthday. It should also be noted that the mother did not appear to doctors at any point to be distraught over her babies’ malformation.
Although dicephalic parapagu is an extremely rare condition, the Daily Mail states that this is the second baby born in Brazil with two heads this year. This child only lived a few hours due to a lack of oxygen to one of the heads.

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 6:29pmYou know when I first read one of your posts I thought what a jerk. After reading more of them I can’t help but wonder what has filled you with such anger and hatred? You don’t act like “an atheist”, as in a person who doesn’t believe in a higher power, but more of a person looking for an answer or validation of some kind. If you don’t believe in God then why bother posting about Him? You won’t get a rise out of a Christian because faith trumps hate and anger. Please tell us why it is important to you to post on a website where you must know you appear to be a jerk? Either way the Christians on here will pray for you.
To answer your question God did not make the world or everything in it perfect. We are all faced with challenges in our lives that are to be overcome. It’s not easy to keep the faith when you are faced with bad things. That is the whole idea. I sincerely hope you can find your peace, somewhere. Until then, lighten up. And if you never find yours, you can always try ours; you just have to ask Him to show it to you. Merry Christmas.

Report Post »The Third Archon
Posted on December 21, 2011 at 6:44pmMaybe but I don‘t think that’s what the sentence meant, and I imagine ALL humans born with two heads die pretty quickly because of oxygen deprivation–the human body is built to work a certain way. Stray too far from those parameters and the organism doesn’t function; there‘s a REASON why there aren’t a bunch of two-headed humans running around, even though two-headed humans would probably be evolutionary superior to humans if they were essentially two humans sharing a body–the brain requires an inordinate amount of energy to function, and is the largest consumer of the energy we use, after body heat. In addition to energy, it has other very specific requirements, like, for example, a certain amount of oxygen. The human heart, lungs, and circulatory system, all evolved to support ONE brain, not TWO. I imagine something that big a change would require rebuilding the organism from the ground up to be functional–it would need multiple hearts and lungs, or ones more effective than ours, and would consume vastly more energy.

Posted on December 21, 2011 at 6:57pmdid a little more research.
The infant shares one heart and one set of vital organs, but both heads have started nursing normally, doctors told the media.
Joseph Brazil, the obstetrician responsible for the delivery, said the child has “an amazing appetite.”
“Despite all the problems we have as a small interior hospital we managed to save both mother and baby, which was our aim,” the hospital’s director, Claudionor Assis de Vasconcelos, told reporters.
“And for us it was a great surprise to find out that the child was in really good health,” she added.
The baby’s mother, who has other children, has bonded well with her newborn and wanted to take the child home straightaway, she added.
However, the mother and baby were taken Wednesday by air ambulance to the city of Belem so doctors could carry out further tests.
Neila Dahas, obstetrician and gynecologist at the Santa Casa de Misericordia Hospital, said the baby was born with two heads as a result of “a delay in the division of the egg.”

Posted on December 21, 2011 at 7:13pmYou may be right, although I’m shocked one set of, ostensibly normal, vital organs can support two brains–I’m worried that they might not be capable of doing so as the babies grow.
