Bachmann Blasts Obama‘s ’Socialism’, Invites Everyone Out for Drinks During CPAC Speech

Two things were clear in Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-MN) opening speech Thursday at the annual CPAC gathering in Washington, D.C.: she doesn’t like Barack Obama, and she’s ready to party.

Bachmann, a possible 2012 presidential candidate and Tea Party favorite, reminded the audience of about 11,000 that she wants to make Obama a one-term president, that she sees his health care overhaul as “socialism” and dangerous for America, but also that conservatives have reason to celebrate after sweeping wins in the November elections.

“There is no question, and I have no reservation in saying this: we have seen President Obama usher in socialism under his watch over the last two years, and Obamacare is quite clearly the crown jewel of socialism,” she said. “And repealing it is the driving motivation of my life. The first political breath I take every morning is to repeal Obamacare.”

Bachmann even infused comedy into her remarks. At one point while blasting current monetary policy, she said since China owns so much U.S. debt, it might be appropriate to ask “Hu’s your daddy?”, a play off the name of Chinese President Hu Jintao. She also joked about looking into the right camera, a reference to her State of the Union response.

“Someone told me I needed to find the right camera,” Bachmann quipped. “Let me see. All you SNL fans, I know where it is and I’m good to go.”

Highlights below.

Bachmann on throwing the conference a one-drink-limit “party”:

Why she believes Obama is ushering in “socialism”:

Her challenge to conservatives to work together to win the “triple crown” in 2012 — the House, the Senate, and the White House:

Finally, CNN put together a package combining some of the segments above:

Good Question, I wish most College kids would ask the same thing before they swallow it hook line and sinker. Socialism defined is the intermediary step between capitalism and Communism. It is the mask on the facist face. On the surface it seems like a beautiful idea. The idea that a perfect society can be engineered where everyones wants are taken care of and every one is equal. A Utopia so to speak. However, the practice is far more ugly because socialism requires centralized absolute power to impose its will and policies. An authority group of individuals who mold the society to how they think it should be. this trumps all individual rights and justice in pursuit of what is best for the whole community. Unfortunately what is right and good for you is not necessarily what the other group thinks. Therefore socialism requires that all opposing views must either be converted or eliminated. Look at all the great dictators of the 20th century from stalin, lennin, castro,Hitler, Mussolini. Che guvera, Osama bin laden and they all have roughly the same idea based on socialism to mold the perfect society. But who is to determine what the perfect society is? and who says your view is right and not mine. The dictators sought to impose their view of the perfect utopia and led to massive blood shed never paralleled in history before. Socialism can be faulted for roughly 200 million people being slaughtered in the last century alone. The argument for socialist apologists is well they just had the wrong person or people in charge. This is where are founders understood the lie of socialistic principle. Namely Who is the right person? No one is. this is why the founders put the individual and his personal god given rights at the heart of the nations founding that no government of group can take away. Socialism is the opposite the person or group who has the power designates your rights and they can be taken away just as easily for the state is GOD and wields its power as such and if you disagree conform or be destroyed. Unforunately it is hard to see behind the sweet mask to the monster beneath because it cloaked usually in good intentions. This is why you here arguments about workers rights in unions or for the protection of your family or children, feeding the homeless. All these on the surface are noble endeavors but behind each cause is the mechanism for power. For if I can force you to be charitable or confiscate your property for goals however well intentioned you no longer have the power over your own life but I do. This the founders understood well is that power corrupts because it is human nature. therefore the best way to maintain freedom and rights is to keep it as broken up as possible and must defend the good as well as the bad in society. I must defend your right to be charitable and the other to be greedy because once I make it circumstantial and can change rights at will then I have the power to violte anybodys right for any other reasons. We are a nation of laws not men this is what protects you in your freedom. and this is why socialism is evil it destroys your freedom and puts control of your life in charge of the one who has the power to dictate your life and choices.

Government (society) control of the means of production, up to and including use, dispensation, distribution and disposal of said property, combined with a system that guarantees “basic life necessities” from the fruits of those owned production units. This means that certain people, comittees, etc try to determine demand a priori and then regulate production based on assumptions. for entire masses of humanity. This leads to rampant over spending, a lack of creativity, a lack of even modest initiative, shoddy products since there is no competition as that is “inefficient” to government, and eventually, we get long lines for toilet paper (2 rolls per family!) along with people fleeing over barbed wire fences to get out of said economy, while being shot at by machine guns live on national television.

The market, on the other hands, works in a kind of “order from chaos” method, which puts no restraints except against fraud, deceit and theft, on the market. The profit motive is the prime motivator, and causes all sorts of people who otherwise would sit around and fish, to go out and try to make a better mouse trap. Since there is so much competition, better mouse traps emerge, and the prices go down on them to keep up with the other competitors. Not only is there no line for toilet paper, society actually has an over abundance of wealth, and nobody has to answer to a government bureaucrat for not towing the line.

It is amazing to me that the two most outspoken critics and tea party activists in the limelight are now being attacked by so called conservatives. Critics can never argue with there policies or voting records on constitutional principles and yet these two “moms” as the media likes to refer to them are portrayed to be naive, out of touch or inexperienced. News flash Morons we have been under the rule of so called professionals’ for the last century and these idiots have ruined us, undermined and sold us out. And you want to continue with idiots like that? Huckabee, Romney, McCain, Grahamn, are ALL RINOS. They are established professional politicians!! And we in the conservative camp are falling for the same trap that was done in the 2008 election. Do you really think we chose the republican candidate for president in the 2008 election? If you do you are a FOOL the media and the political machine chose our candidate and they are trying to set the same thing up again. Discredit the true conservatives and put in a mock one. Remember they said Ronald Reagan was unqualified because he was an actor. Quite frankly I am sick of the professionals running the country. There is an old saying “Mom Knows best.” Let’s give it to the mothers and let them see if they can do it better. Because unlike are experienced politicians a Mom actually knows what a BUDGET IS!!. MOM also knows THAT SOME THINGS ARE WRONG & YOU DON”T COMPROMISE WITH DEVILS. THAT YOU PROTECT YOUR HOME AND FAMILY (IE the country) even to death. MOMS KNOW MORALS AND HONOR ARE NOT JUST PRETTY WORDS. MOMS WHO LOVE THERE FAMILY (COUNTRY) DON’T SELL OUT THEIR KIDS.AND ABOVE ALL DONT” SCREW WITH MOM OR YOU GET YOUR BUTT KICKED. SO GIVE IT TO THE MOMS and see if the Jackass socialist who comes to date her daughter makes it past the front door before being hit with a constitutional frying pan. GIVE MOM THE COUNTRY

OMG! Someone who engages in common sense! Thank you, Briggston. These ELITISTS running our country into the ground–with their theories and ideologies–are so far from any form of common sense that it eludes them. And we currently have a president who honestly believes the US Constitution is full of negative laws. Why? Because he can’t understand the concept of liberty? Marxist ideology always fosters folks who want socialism for the masses–not for themselves–but they believe or swear they know what is best for us. Clinton ought to spout off about how horrible our health care system is in this country! [He & his wife has off-shore bank accounts in the Cayman Islands.] And now McCain—after making a “hard right” to get re-elected in Arizona—is back at the WH kissing up and making deals. How he ever got on the Rep. ticket in the first place is the question. And the reason college kids won’t ask questions is because almost every college/university in this country indoctrinates students with a US history that would make my grandfather vomit. I found lies and distortions that made the price of the textbook obscene! As a conservative educator, I have found that in a country that touts multiple points of view—the LEFT or Marxists are very intolerant.

We were established through adopting radical political ideas (in their day) and then going out and committing violence to get those ideas implemented. We then went to war again in 1812 to defend those radical ideas from those would reimpose the old model on us, and to war in the 1860′s based on the very radical (for its day) notion that no more slave states should be allowed to be created. There has never been “balance” in our nation, we’ve always been out and out fire breathing radicals.

Principles are not fungible. If you believe that people will make bad choices unless government tells them not to, then there is no excuse to allow any freedom. If you believe that most people will try to make the best choices and that those who don’t will cheat on any rules you create or enter the system to manipulate it from inside, then freedom is always the answer. From this perspective, you seek to solve all problems with the system by leveraging one or the other approach to freedom.

Off-topic Just watched Newt’s speech. He hammered on America’s need for Energy Independence – at one point he cited Brazil – their off-shore drilling and flex fuel policies. But Newt stopped short of Obama’s pledge of $ 2 Billion dollars to Brazil‘s Petrobras for it’s off-shore drilling AND how this (kickback) benefited Soros. Why do our conservative leaders continue to ignore this fact. AND why do they continue to ignore the plight of American farmers in Southern California because the Obama Administration has turned off the water. Food prices are rising here and world wide and we have been warned of a world wide food shortage. These farmers in Southern California used to feed the world and their farm land has been reduce to a dust bowl. It was great to hear Palin address this during her speech honoring Reagan’s birthday. Palin has been out in front and leading the charge for America’s energy independence and as Governor fought for the oil and gas industry in Alaska. Also, when discussing nuclear energy – what continues to be ignored is that we can have nuclear power plants using thorium, which the U.S. has amble supply of , it’s cheaper to mine, leaves no weapons grade waste, and the waste that is produce is only radio active for hundreds of years opposed to that of uranium. Bachmann’s speech was excellent also.

If I had to make a choice between two people, one who 100% upheld the Ideals of the Constitution but exhibited some moral failings and a second who was 100% the most moral person that God ever put breath in but had little respect for the Ideals of the Constitution, I would cast my lot with the first.

      1. It is my contention that most of the Republicans that voted to extend either took the R Party line or they voted counter to the D’s. I doubt it had anything to do with principle and I guarantee you it didn’t have anything to do with what was Constitutionally correct.
      2. I don’t need to check a website to know when my rights are being infringing, but thank you for the invitation.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) — so fond of accusing the Obama administration of foisting socialism on an unwilling America — has apparently been the recipient of about a quarter of million bucks in government handouts.

Bachmann’s family farm received $251,973 in federal subsidies between 1995 and 2006. The farm had been managed by Bachmann’s recently deceased father-in-law and took in roughly $20,000 in 2006 and $28,000 in 2005, with the bulk of the subsidies going to dairy and corn. Both dairy and corn are heavily subsidized — or “socialized” — businesses in America (in 2005 alone, Washington spent $4.8 billion propping up corn prices) and are subject to strict government price controls.

Bachmann isn’t alone in her selective socialism: EWG found that the top four districts receiving the largest ag payments are represented by conservative Republicans.

I have honestly wondered the same thing myself, outside of any context in this article. I drink and have no problems with drinking, but I do worry a bit about a person who holds the nuclear football being told that he’s drinking way too much. I don’t mind a president who takes a belt every now and again, it seems almost unhealthy not to in that office, but if your doctor says moderate it, that’s scary to me.

If Kool aid is on tap, leave me out.

Do we need front-running opposition, at this time? I strongly encouraged the hopefuls of 2012 to lay low and back. The current Administration is in self-destruct mode (since 2008 in many minds). Why steal is limp light or deny him many more opportunities to shoot off his own feet (base)? He is not a leader… as is the case with most lawyers who always come at the tail of an argument to make their score. He is simply the one to be ‘present,’ presidential only in title. Presidential in role, in America, requires listening to the holders of power, We The People.

Post 2012, we need a sharp, articulate and unified Executive team to remake that entire branch of our Federal Government. The task before us is not unlike the writing of the Constitution which required many dedicated hearts and minds to aspire to the best that is within all of us. Who is behind the desk is not nearly as important as who is in the room. We have a host of good and strong candidates that can serve the nation for decades to come. We need them all. When the time comes, let us make sure WE select the best who will gather the best… until then grab your favorite brew, sit back and watch a man squander his day. Occasionally, I’ll be sipping rum off in my quiet corner, as I laugh, and sometimes cry, at the sad spectacle.

You would presume that with all of their citations of the Constitution and remembrance of the founding fathers, Tea Party candidates would understand history at least a little bit. But that’s apparently not the case with Rep. Michele Bachmann who said that the founding fathers ended slavery in the United States.

In a recent speech in Iowa, Bachmann said that it was “the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States….Men like John Quincy Adams, who would not rest until slavery was extinguished in the country.”

The problem for Bachmann is that John Quincy Adams died in 1848, 15 years before slavery was abolished with the Emancipation Proclamation. Also, most of the founding fathers did own slaves, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and many of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. In fact, one of the signers, James Monroe, executed 30 of his slaves after they tried to revolt for their freedom. George Washington also had teeth implanted into his mouth that were taken out of the mouths of his slaves.

When it comes to understanding America’s present, we must be honest about the nation’s past. The founding fathers were amazing men who did great things, but they were also part of the collection of men and women who beat, raped, castrated, lynched and destroyed black families for over 400 years.

Or, if I fought in the Revolutionary War, and had spent my life fighting to have America independent from Britain, and I died during the Revolutionary War, prior to us being independent from Britain, that doesn‘t mean that I didn’t spend my life fighting to make America independent from Britain.

The founders did end American slavery via the structure of the Constitution and the reduction of slave state representation to 3/5ths of what it would have been. While it may have taken some decades, the creation of a few new free states out of slave states, and a civil war, none of that would have been possible without the foresight of the founders in their implementation of the Constitution.

If you are a descendant of a black American slave then you should honor and remember their forced sacrifice, resilience, and determination to stay here once freed so that their posterity (you) may live free in America today. The only alternative would have been for them to have remained in Africa or returned once freed to the very countries that not only had brutal slavery at the time, but also maintain an active slave trade to this very day.

I like this lady. She is just the mind-set we need in D.C. to counter the crap the Obama thugs are slinging.

If Bachmann was to win the nomination I would work hard for her campaign.

Sho just celebrated 31 years of sobriety, and I have an AA meeting Friday night.

When the discussion leader asks, “Does anyone here tonight have something bothering him that might cause him to drink,” I just might say, “No, unless you want to talk about Obama.”

      _____
Why on earth let someone as little worth it as B.O. destroy such a wonderful a record as you’ve got going for you. Think of him and his band of merry men as a bunch of fleas or gnats. Get some good soap, (What’s that first step?) wash off their menace, and go on to realize they were just a passing aggravation in the larger scheme of things. That Higher Power, is STILL more powerful, than whatever their combined power may add up to, and their fury is because they may not see “The handwriting on the wall” but they’ve all seen the hand in their hallucinations, and are trying to tell themselves that their is no one higher than them.
Just like not believing in the speed limit, there comes a time when that siren and light in the rear-view just can’t be ignored any longer. Then, you have only to remember how you reacted to their actions, because no one but they will be held responsible for their actions! God bless, and great work!

      Huckabee Gingrich 12
      Posted on February 10, 2011 at 1:41pm
Bachmann? Paul? Palin? Three strikes. You’re out. We need Gov. Mike huckabee, ladies and gentlemen. He’s the only hope we have of defeating Obama next year. Mark my words. Chuck Norris gets it. Why don’t you?

      _____
They might have been good to go before B.O. took us back instantly to Carter’s 2nd term then set out to prove he could destroy 200+ years of history in 1 term. Now to work with the other side, is to leave in place toooooo much that the next progressive pres. can step in to give CPR and on with the destruction of the nation. When the country is in this desperate a shape, we don’t need Consensus builders in the WH or Congress, we need people with the willingness to put everything on the line to return this country to the Founders vision and legacy. Gingrich and Huckabee both have a lot of love for the Country, but I don’t see the Fire in them that I find in MB, Palin, Rand Paul, Jim Demint, or several others on this level. May God have mercy on our nation and give us leaders, willing to forfeit careers, fame, and Social Invitations, or good press, for the good of our country.

      @seraphim—

.Ron Paul and Aynone is the WRONG Combination.

I am sick and tired of Rep Paul being called a Conservative. He’s far from it.
Anyone who takes Ron Paul as a serious conservative canadate should really take a look at it.
