Bachmann Calls Newt a ‘Frugal Socialist’ During Radio Interview With Glenn Beck

Bachmann Calls Newt Gingrich Frugal Socialist

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann had some tough words for fellow candidate Newt Gingrich during an in-studio interview with Glenn Beck this morning.

Prior to her radio appearance, Beck spoke with Bachmann’s fellow Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich. During his conversation with Gingrich, Beck pressed the former House Speaker on his support of the Prescription Drug entitlement program passed during the Bush years.

Bachmann later offered her her opinion about Gingrich’s claim that he supports fiscally-conservative policies. In her analysis, she gave him a label he’s sure to lament.

“It doesn’t help to have a frugal socialist,” said Bachmann. “That’s really what we’re talking about is managing socialism and trying to be a frugal socialist.”

Beck then asked Bachmann to clarify if she was calling Newt Gingrich a socialist. The Minnesota congresswoman responded:

“What I’m saying is that – I’m saying a frugal socialist, yes! Because you’re looking at proposals and programs that are in effect redistribution of wealth and socialism-based, and are we going to have real change in the country or are we going to have frugal socialists?”

      Bachmann is right on Gingrich. 

      Bachmann herself is a frugal socialist as is her side kick Rick “bomb the world” Santorum. 

      Intervention is progressive policy. Michele and Rick are big supporters of intervention. 

      Michele and Rick both agree in sending tax dollars over seas in foreign welfare (wealth redistribution) 

      Intervention and foreign welfare are both policies of Progressives. 

      Newt, Michele and Rick are frugal socialists.

      Ron Paul is the only answer to end big government. Where are all these other “small government” candidate’s budget plans????? Ron Paul is the only one with a plan to balance the budget within the time frame of his presidency. How can you call yourself small government when you don’t even plan to balance the budget while you are president???

      Please reconsider voting for Ron Paul. He has been right about the Fed and even Beck had to come back and apologize for thinking him a kook. So why are we so quick to ridicule his foreign policy? Could it be that in 5 years we will come back once again and wish we would have listened to Paul?

      No “tax” is not a redistribution or was not meant to be one. 

      Tax is the charge to run Government each individual is obligated pay. 

      Redistribution is taking money from one group and giving it to another group for whatever reasoning one decides to say. 

      Taking money from US to give to Israel or Palestinian Authority is redistribution. It is the same as taxing top 1% wealth and giving to lower 1%. 

      The most conservative is not Rick, Michele, Gingrich, or Romney. Each of those are progressive/socialist in most part and just use the label ‘conservative’ to get votes.

      In any organized society yes, taxes are required to sustain an organism to ensure that individual liberty goes unharmed. It properly belongs at a State and local level for the system of the Free Market Economy in a Capitalist CIVILIZATION to operate correctly. The idea of the Federal Government was to simply act as a referee to preserve the rights not given away in the limited Constitution.

      Sweeping regulations falls into the classification of STATE capitalism economics under a socialist civilization.

      The 2 look similar and sweet talking politicians craft their platforms to make them almost indistinguishable to disinterested observer. What we know about people is that we can’t govern ourselves. We require laws to keep us in a normative and generally harmonious society. Lawyers/politicians devise idea’s to cause the uninformed to give away more and more rights by creating “precedent” points to justify more and more power to central control. That’s what has happened to America. Today we don’t have a single person who has lived under the Republic we were given. Gradual return to those principles won’t cut it, and continued policy like Gingrich platforms is a further step left, and away from freedom.

      Well said. If you took away her sound bites and quip labels she couldn’t discuss, develop or implement an intelligent foreign, domestic, economic or social policy. As we saw with Palin, it is easy to be an art or movie critic. Little tougher to actually paint or direct. Look at her do nothing record in congress. Who actually votes for her in her current role, let alone supports her financially.

      I used to like Michelle but the more I hear her slam the Republican candidates, the less I like her. Her focus should be on Obama only and what SHE would do to change things. I don’t want to hear her, or her rivals views on the candidates. In doing so only makes me think of desperation and not having enough confidence in their own policies. I am not necessarily promoting Newt but at least he has taken the high road and has chosen not to denegrate his opponents. That speaks volumes to me about the confidence and character of a person. To each candidate I would have to say, “Tell me what YOU would do to change the Country…that’s all I want to hear from you.”

      We are not obligated to water the grass at the WH. That is a luxury and the example follows thru to the millions if items that are not required to run a government. I bet you have stock in R&D for military toys.

      We supplement the chow in the dinning room down stairs. About 6 bucks gets you a fine $50 gourmet meal on a daily and hourly basis. We put those clowns up as if it was a dog and pony show. Geo Washington paid his way as did most of the others; seen any millionaires or billionaires that like America that much, think not.

      I demand a Constitutional change and the Progressive-RINO-GOP refuse to deliver and yes we know the Marxist Party wont.

      I spent 30yrs in DOD so don’t attempt to deceive me. There are many toys not required and many that are not being allowed that should be but they are not being lobbied.

      TEA the Bachmann way is the only vote I have. If one of the others RINOs get on the ballot, count me an enemy of vast proportions

      Tax began in the Constitution. Direct taxes to be proportioned among the states and indirect taxes to be uniform among the states. There was to be no head tax. 

      Tax code was revised under the PROGRESSIVE income tax Amendment to grant Congress the power to tax however they desire and no longer proportioned or uniform. 

      Your whole rant makes no sense at all. If you support Bachmann you are supporting more military spending, policing the world, and foreign aid. More spending directly contradicts TEA which means less spending as any spending equals taxes and TEA is looking for less of it. 

      “Michele Bachmann TEA” is not TEA, it’s a joke and deception.

      The sad fact in your comment is that had we gone and asked the average person on the street even a year ago if they knew what a progressive was, the VAST majority would have said an Insurance company.

      A lot of people STILL refuse to learn the platform of the high road politics even though they’ve been posted here and hundreds of other forums. Nobody wants to admit they’re wrong, they’d rather hold the status quo and argue an impossible to defend position. Much like Gingrich in his interview with Glenn, or they’ll go on the personal attack to try to marginalize Constitutionally correct positions as being crack pot, or nutty.

      The good news is that people are becoming active in learning how things work politically in ways that seemed almost impossible before Obama was elected. Now looking back, many people can see clearly what the progressive agenda is, and that every administration, save one, since T. Roosevelt/Wilson is infected with the progressive disease.

      I love the sexist rhetoic. Isn’t calling a lady a “whore,” even if you are using it in a political sense, the same using an equal term about a man in that demeaning way, even if it was referring to politics? For instance, a political bastard? And I think it’s worse for women.

      if anyone has something to say specifically against michelle, than lay it out in details. The headline itself speaks about being a frugal socialist. But if that’s all michelle would say about Newt, and not specifically explain why, as if it’s just calling him a name, or trying to be demeaning in any way, I would loose total respect for her.       I realize you libertarians do not believe the same as the majority of politicians have in the modern area. I say modern area because if you go back to horse and buggy days, with sailing vessels that took a few weeks to cross the ocean, international relations took a much different form.

      No one attacks the front runner ever. The front runners in this GOP farce of debate are false ones. Bachmann has been manuvered to the side because she represents the majority of true conservatives, always has.
      She wont allow those mass immigrations to go on and leave the border open for cheap labor business. Thats what you Newt, Romney type care about is that cheap labor, no social security, no borders, no personal American space called sovereneigty.

      @conservative woman = I liked Bachmann when she first joined The Tea Parties. I listened to her often. I donated to her. But then the RINOS, RNC and Progressives along with all the lefties (including using their own 8 yr old son @ a booksigning event) started trying to destroy her. Her problem is within the RNC, I just don’t think THEY will endorse her. After watching several appearances on GBTV and The Glenn Beck show (internet) I REALLY like her, I trust her and she obviously can’t be destroyed.

    It’s funny how the lamestream media claims that Glenn Beck is done or GBTV is just an internet program. But all the media and bloggers tuned in to the show. Except for Fox. I think Fox is haveing a some sour grapes letting Glenn go. Of course Michell Bachmann won’t get a fair shake with the lamestream media. I just can’t believe our country is so quick to rush to communism. Doesn’t these people who hate Glenn Beck understand that all of their wealth and hard work is going to be going to the government if it takes hold? And the one’s that our living off entitlements will see them taken away just as fast as they were given out? The Communist system takes care of the government now that it is so huge not the people. I don’t understand what is so hard to grasp about good old USA style capitalism. I agree we are headed in the direction of socialism and it is apparent from looking at the auto bail out. Why can’t people understand we would have had a stronger car industry if we would have let GM and Chrysler go under. Their hardware (buildings, machines, dies, etc.) and intelectually propety would have gone to the highest bidder and we still would have had a GMC truck and Chevy Malibu and Impala they just might have been owned by three seperate companies. Wow, what a lost oportunity! And no, Newt is not a socialist! I kind of like Bachmann but it is things like this that turn me away from her. Still not decided but I’m leaning Newt.

      Glenn Beck not only has GBTV nightly program that we watch, he has his university, his faith based programs, homeschooling programs, The Blaze, Naked Truth and his daily radio show, he has a huge following regardless of Fox. In fact, I turn Fox and Fox Business off every day @ 2PT even if I can’t watch him on ROKU. When Glenn says he trusts her, I would image many of his followers know she is trustworthy.

    The problem with our government is that it is run like a government and not at all like a private business. In business there is accountability and a bottom line.

    The government never looks at the bottom line of anything, and the politicians never take the accountability.

    We are all shareholders (at least the ones that pay taxes) to a business that will soon be forced to close its doors. At that point the 99% will riot, since then they will be completely denied their free stuff.

      I still lke Bachman though I do not believe that she has a chance to win. I think her comments abiut the other candidates has done more harm than good. Same for Perry. I want to hear where they stand and what they intend to do about jobs, the economy, Obama care, Israel, taxes, and the size of government. I have been so tired of the bickering and nit pcking among the candidates. It shows the American people how divided the party is. People want and need to see a strong and united republican party, not a bunch of egotistical cry babies.

    I just heard Glenn ask MB about the fed statement she made in her interview, I think last week, where she would make the Fed the size of a peanut and hopefully abolishing it someday.     Her analysis of Newt’s perspective as a “Frugal Socialist” is really an accurate statement.

    By the way, look at the European Union at this point. Independent Governments / Shared Monetary System. The road has buckled and is nearly impassable. Now the goal for the globalist is to collapse the United States system to continue to implement a One World Order, as President Bush stated in one of his State of the Union speeches.

      Of course Bachmann is correct on this. I don’t get the people that think Newt has suddenly “found religion”. People, be real; Newt’s a lifelong academic/politician – is there a worse combination than that? He‘s great at Monday Morning QB’ing, like John McCain, but he’s seldom at the cutting edge of any topic. He’s spews out tons of ideas and hope some stick. If that’s genius, then I‘m a monkey’s uncle.

      Wrong – Bachman is not a career academic or politician. She did not enter politics after she graduated college and she’s never been an academic.

      What you people need to understand is that Newt is NOT cut from the same mold we are. He‘s an elitist that sits in a bubble and rationalizes all of life’s issues. On the other hand, Bachmann is new to politics and she simply sees what we have seen the past 20 years, and she don’t like it.

      So what is “on tv” mean anyway these days? Does it mean it’s a channel with your cable or satellite provider? Netflix is not a channel, nor are a ton of other hi-def super widgets on practically any tv these days. I watch GBTV live, or on-demand reply, on my 1080dp large screen tv using my Roku and it‘s picture quality is better than what’s broadcast via my cable provider or by any network… hands down. Or I can watch GBTV programs in their entirety on any computer or device whenever I want.

      So when it comes to the subject matter of your comment it would be a true statement, in my opinion, that on this matter… you’re an idiot.

    I have heard at least 3 media talking heads say that the Cain supporters will now go to Gingrich. Yet Michele is a true Tea Partyer and Newt is only using them as a stepping stone. I myself now support Bachmann after Cain has dropped out.

      Like Governor Romney, Newt Gingrich supported an individual mandate for health care, which is central to both “RomneyCare” and “ObamaCare.”

      Then, Newt Gingrich’s firm raked in nearly $40 MILLION from health care companies, which supported these and other Big Government schemes.

      Like Governor Romney, Newt Gingrich supported the $700 BILLION TARP bailouts.

      And like Governor Romney, Newt Gingrich has cozied up to environmental alarmists, even appearing in an ad with Nancy Pelosi in support of the job-killing “global warming” agenda.
      I’m voting for Ron Paul, who doesn’t have mistakes to cover and excuses to make!

      From a central governance perspective that continued to grow the entitlements. When you learn what describes what socialism entails, redistribution, central control, invasive regulatory laws, platform policies begin to make sense even to the casual observer.

      Gingrich is an NWO progressive. Balancing a budget doesn’t show anything 1 way or the other. It’s the policy of intervention in foreign Nations sovereignty, entitlement proliferation under the blanket Federal structure.

      Even hard core Marxists want a balance to their budget, and they attempt it by redistribution by State control and mandate (regulations). Exactly the measures that Gingrich platforms and pursues.

      I don’t want to make excuses for Newt but at the time of that ad was made the Science had not hit the wall of truth which let out the corruption behind the science.

      Gingrich is a Scottish Rights activist. That’s why he converted to Catholicism. You must be a Catholic to participate in that order, which is without question a wing of the Club of Rome, aka New World Order. Why the heck do you think he’s such a fan of George Bush, both of them?

      Gingrich cares about America about as much as Obama does.

      I personally don’t care for Bachmann because she lacks the fire of principled certainty without compromise that it takes to be a great leader. But right now she’s only 1 of 2 candidates that I would even consider.

      “ balanced the budget” Balanced does not mean the government is not redistributing wealth.

      My opinion… the term ‘furgal socialist’ fits in this case.

      WOW! Where did you get that? Hollywood? I despise Newt but your are telling a lie.

      I was a Scottish Rite Mason or 32nd degree, which comes after first being a Master Mason. You have a choice of one or both the York or Scottish Rites. The charter’s came from England for the York and not sure for the Scottish. Once it got here it became Americanized and some of the words and such were changed. There are differences from state to state. I know I have done the memory work in several.

      The American Masonic ring has the letter “G” and the rest of the world does not allow that as they can be of any religion outside of the USA. They say diety in place “G”. Our own people do not know that the “G” does stand for God, some actually think it is geometry, yes bizarre indeed.

      I was just an ordinary Protestant Christian whose family has been here over 400yrs. The Catholics can join us but the Catholic Church will not allow it. They wont let the Knights of Columbus (Catholic) join the Masons. The “K of C” was formed to keep their people out of the Protestant Christian Lodge. The Pope don’t like Protestants and we hated the Inquisition. The lodge has Jewish people in it and I knew some of them in Dallas.

      I have not been a Mason since the 70s but I enjoyed the people. You simply memorize some things out of the Christian Bible (Old Testament) and do a few stage plays that reflect that knowledge. Anythin

      Well no. Beck MONTHS ago was a backer of Michelle Bachmann. I think Beck likes Romney about as much policy wise as he does Obama.

      Your support for Newt is quite irrational. He has the most liberal background out of all the candidates… even when compared to Romney!

      Have you ever heard of Alvin Toffler? He is an outspoken globalist. Gingrich praises him and wrote the forward in two of his books.

      I’d list all of the liberal views of Newt, but you’ve assuredly seen them on other articles (and I couldn’t fit them in 1,500 characters).
