Bachmann Hits Back at Critics Regarding Her Letter About Muslim Brotherhood and Its U.S. Tentacles

Michele Bachmann refuses to back down from her criticism of the Muslim Brotherhood and its tentacles within the United States. The congresswoman from Minnesota joined Glenn Beck on radio Thursday morning and continued to herald the warning about the Brotherhood. She also hit back at her critics, who have panned her for a letter she sent last Friday to the Inspectors General of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

“After the Fort Hood tragedy, a report was issued that said the real problem in our government is that we are not teaching FBI agents or our military to recognize radical Islam.  So that’s what we need to do,” Bachmann told Beck. “We need to teach about it.”

But recent developments — such as taking such curriculum from training programs — has made that nearly impossible. That prompted her to write the letter with four other members of Congress. And it hasn’t been welcomed.

“Never before in the history of the country have we seen this level of leaks coming out, but at the same time there’s also a parallel track of influence from the Muslim Brotherhood in the highest levels of the federal government, and we think that we need to get answers to these questions,” Bachmann said in the interview.  “And that’s the purpose of our letters.  We’re asking that the inspectors general answer these questions, and Keith Ellison is trying to shut this, these questions down from getting addressed.”

Ellison, Bachmann’s fellow Rep. from Minnesota, has called Bachmann’s inquiry “nonsense.”

Bachmann also responded to those such as John McCain who have criticized her for raising questions about the wife of disgraced Rep. Anthony Weiner, Huma Abedin. Abedin is a top aide to Hillary Clinton, but she has family ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

“She is the chief aid for the ‑‑ to the Secretary of State, and we quoted from a document, and this has been well reported all across Arab media, that her father ‑‑ her late father who’s now deceased was a part of the Muslim Brotherhood, Bachmann explained. She continued:

Her brother was a part of the Muslim Brotherhood, and her mother was a part of what’s called the Muslim Sisterhood.  It would be, we have requirements to get a high level security clearance.  One thing that the government looks at are your associations, and in particular your family associations.  And this applies to everyone.  It would be the same that is true with me.  If my family members were associated with Hamas, a terrorist organization, that alone could be sufficient to disqualify me from getting a security clearance.  So all we did is ask, did the federal government look into her family associations before she got a high level security clearance.

“And it’s not an unreasonable thing to ask seeing that this president and this administration has ‑‑ didn’t know ‑‑ apparently didn’t know that Van Jones was the founding ‑‑ one of the founding members of a radical revolutionary, anti‑American, Communist organization, and he’s in the White House,” Beck responded.

“But you’re not saying that she is compromised?  he asked later. “You’re saying have we looked into this, right?”

“That’s right,” she responded. “That‘s all we’re saying because we did not infer that she is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood or that she’s working on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood.”

In addition to the quotes Enicom gave below, her former Presidential campaign manager ends an op-ed stating, “As a member of Congress, with a seat on the House Intelligence Committee, Mrs. Bachmann you know better. Shame on you, Michele! You should stand on the floor of the House and apologize to Huma Abedin and to Secretary Clinton and to the millions of hard working,loyal, Muslim Americans for your wild and unsubstantiated charges. As a devoted Christian, you need to ask forgiveness for this grievous lack of judgment and reckless behavior.”

      John Boehner is calling Bachman’s baseless accusations “dangerous.” I expect more Republicans – the responsible ones anyway – to further reject her false and defamatory statements. They’re probably just trying to prevent the Republican brand from becoming even crazier than it is, but at least they are saying something.

      Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called the comments about Abedin “ridiculous” in an interview with Politico today.
      “The person saying it has no idea what they’re saying because they’ve never met her,” Graham said, according to Politico. “She is about as far away from the Muslim Brotherhood view of women and ideology as you possibly could get. She’s a very modern woman in every sense of the word, and people who say these things are really doing her a disservice because they don’t know what they’re talking about, and I don’t know what their motivations are, but clearly it says more about them than it does her.”

      JZS – Very clever of you to bring up our past treatment of immigrants and try to compare it with our concern of the Muslim Brotherhood. The one thing you conveniently left out was the fact that unlike the Muslim Brotherhood, the Irish, Italians, Jews, Catholics, etc. did not have the destruction of the U.S. and our way of life as their core doctrine.

      Michelle Bachmann is right to be concerned – we should ALL be concerned. And if you listen to her, you would know she DID NOT accuse Mrs. Anthony Weiner of being in the Muslim Sisterhood. She simply wants to know if she was correctly vetted. Also, keep in mind, none of the politicians standing against her have actually read the letter she sent. Talk about rushing to judgement.

In every single case I mentioned the legitimacy of the bigotry was based on the feared destruction of America, or Protestantism or racial purity. In every single case that was the justification for the hatred -it was based on destruction of country, racial purity of religion. No bigot wants to admit they simply hate someone because of their race, their religion or the country of origin. They have to appeal to a broader goal to justify their irrational hatred and they always have. Just like you are.

      Bachman did not simply “simply want[s] to know if she was correctly vetted.” You haven’t read her letter have you? She stated as fact there was “deep penetration” of the Muslim Brotherhood in the current administration. Does her claim of “deep penetration” into government by the Muslim Brotherhood suggest to you the idea somehow somebody, somehow, wasn’t properly vetted?

      Buck, everybody has read her letter, or know the content. Boehner gave her an out, as others may but please.

      Buckeroo, please don’t even try, at least not without trying to getting a broader understanding. You sound like everybody else here. Hatred of Muslims is no more different than hatred of other groups in the past. The only difference is that people believe that this time, for sure, for real, it’s really justified, unlike the hatred of other groups in the past two thousand years.

      Her statement is clear.
      The Muslim Brotherhood has declared war on the US – TRUE
      The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization according to the CIA – TRUE
      The Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated the US govt. – TRUE
      Clinton’s aid IS part of a family with multiple membership in the Muslim Brotherhood. – TRUE
      The govt should look into this – TRUE

      This is NOT a muslim thing, this is a declared enemy of all Americans – an islamist terrorist thing.

      Abedin should NOT have been given clearance nor should she hold the position she hold – by US law.
      Not because she is muslim, but because her family is part of a terrorist organization – plain and simple.

      If her dad, mother and brother were all KGB agents, she would have been denied the job and access to US security information, why should the Muslim Brotherhood (terrorists) be more welcome infiltrating our govt than the KGB?

      I think you’ve missed the point about the backlash against Bachman. It’s precisely because there are no facts of that kind. Bachman has been challenged to prove that point, among others, but she won’t. Those “facts” are fabricated to slandar a good American.

      JZS. As I read the letter the congresswoman wrote, she never asks for an investigation of Huma Abedin. She merely states that Abedin’s late father, mother and brother all had ties to The Moslem Brotherhood. She then goes on to have concerns about the Moslem Brotherhood and states that “the US government has established in federal court that The Moslem Brotherhood’s mission in the US is destroying Western Civilization from within, a practice Moslem brothers call Civilization jihad”. She then cites some highly questionable actions by the Department of State vis a vis The Moslem Brotherhood. I don’t purport to be an expert, but there is no way that I can interpret any of that to say that she called for Anthony Weiner’s wife to be investigated.       Sorry Kevin The Elder, you’d better read her letter again. She did ask for an for an investigation of Huma Abedin. She says Abedin is “tied to” the Muslim Brotherhood (which is false) and then calls for an investigation into individuals “tied to” the Muslim Brotherhood.

      Please Kevin. This is pure slander, and that‘s why it’s being rejected by Republicans and Democrats alike. This woman isn’t “tied to” the Muslim Brotherhood. The so called link is that her father, who died twenty years ago might have known somebody, who might have known another somebody who appeared to by sympathetic to the Muslim Brotherhood twenty years ago. With that kind of logic, you can “connect” any two people in the world. The origin of the information is a guy who also linked General Patraeus to Muslim extremists.

      If you think there are people “tied to” the Muslim Brotherhood, then let’s see some proof.

      I’m not going to sugarcoat the Muslim Brotherhood; they’re evil people and are a threat worth monitoring. That being said, this is major league recklessness by Michele Bachmann. This is essentially her throwing out an idea without any solid proof to back up her claims. You can’t go around doing that; it’s a classic boy-who-cried-wolf scenario. The more these baseless witch hunts are thrown around, the less people will be paying attention to when an actual problem arises.

      Then again, it‘s not like Michele Bachmann hasn’t made off-basis statements in order to get her face in front of a camera/pander to her base before. Statements like:

      “I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president Jimmy Carter. And I’m not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it’s an interesting coincidence.”

Bachmann’s statements do not qualify as remarks that should be condemned by anyone. She’s simply asking that people that hold such positions be vetted properly. This lack of vetting seems to be an obvious pattern with the current administration and the MSM. And “purging” FBI training methods is ludicrous. The more they can know and understand about potential enemies, the better.

    John McCain is a dweeb. He would have to get bit in the a** by a shark to realize he was up to his neck in hot water. Despite his past military experience, which was FIFTY years ago, he’s still a total loser.

    Wonder how many Conservative talking heads in the Beltway will not mention this story just because Glenn Beck has covered it first?

    At any rate, I pray there are enough true patriots in Congress to call for an investigation. It’s time to put the PC horsec**p behind us and defend the country.

      Further … (this topic has my blood up) McCain swore to protect the Constitution from ALL enemies. He’s obligated to follow the Law. Instead, over a period of six years, Big Mac undermined the War on Terror by railing against “enhanced interrogation” because, he said, it was torture. Well, I have news for you Mac. Even if it IS torture (and it is) who gives a rats*ss? It saves American lives.

      Moreover, I believe the fact that Big Mac was tortured should remove him from any decisions pertaining to interrogation. He’s predisposed to defend the terrorist by stopping enhanced interrogations that may indeed save the lives of millions of Americans. Ultimately, Big Mac IS the very definition of Political Correctness gone bats*it. He was (and still is) more concerned with being PC, and not offending or undermining anyone (except Conservative Republicans), and protecting the rights of an Islamic Terrorist — a terrorist that would GLADLY slaughter millions — than the rights of the millions slaughtered by an Islamic Terrorist.

      Even if the Tea Party is successful in November, and the Republicans capture the House and Senate (and White House), it will be progressives like Big Mac that will undermine the movement, particularly when it comes down to knuckling down on the hard decisions.

      Mission–you’re one of those that think Bachman uses McCarthy tactics? Well, McCarthy was proven right. He was right even before the Verona papers were released, and not all of those have been released. So ignore Bachman at your own peril. McCain is, as usual wrong on this issue. At this point, McCain has as much credibility as his daughter.

    Whether Backmann is correct or incorrect is not the issue. The very question as to whether the Muslim Bro is in our government DEMANDS an investigation to get to the truth. And those responsible must be prosecuted. Wonder how many more Republicans will call for an investigation?

Actually being ‘invited’ by Obama! Wake up America – we ARE under attack! Michele did not accuse Hilary’s aide of being a spy or anything, she questioned the vetting process when she got appointed because her family history probably should have denied her security clearance. Michele is doing her job, protecting us against enemies foreign and domestic… wish I could say the same for MY representative in the House – Keith Ellison…took his oath on the Quran – yah, he meant it, right.

      Even though you use big ole, fancy, schmansy words; I think you should explain how it is you know Sen. McCarthy was wrong. By explaining I don’t mean quote a book by some communist sympathizer. Just because you disagree with people doesn’t make them incorrect. Truth does not require belief.
      For all you know Sen. McCarthy’s investigation stemmed the growth of communism in our nation and only now, whilst most Americans are busy with other business, have the commies been able to gain real traction here. Funny how it’s always communist and socialist folks or sympathizers of said folks who love to use McCarthyism as a bad word. I vehemently disagree with you, and that is why we just can’t get along. I believe such influences must be rooted out and eliminated from public office. Thus, I will be negating your vote in November.
