Bachmann Hits Back at Perry: ‘A President Who Would Encourage More Illegal Immigration’

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is hitting back at Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s immigration policies. Seizing (albiet a bit late) upon the governor’s controversial comments about tuition assistance for the children of illegal immigrants, Bachmann’s camp released an ad called, “We Can’t Settle.”
As you’ll recall, Perry said (he has since voiced regret over these comments) the following during the Fox News-Google debate:
“I don’t think you have a heart“ if ”you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they’ve been brought their through no fault of their own.
We need to be educating these children because they will become a drag on our society. I think that’s what Texans wanted to do. Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature when this issue came up [there were] only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue. Texas voted on it. And I still support it today.”
Bachmann’s ad, during which she sits before the camera and speaking directly to the audience, begins with the following words: ”Last week, we conservatives were accused of not having a heart. Nothing could be further from the truth.”
She continues, clearly taking the opportunity to throw a dig in Perry’s direction, “It’s just that we have a mind to go with that heart.”
As the video progresses, Bachmann, without explicitly naming Perry, attacks his rationality when it comes to policy-making, saying, “…failing to act rationally under the rule of law has created chaos on our borders. We can’t settle for a president who would encourage more illegal immigration…”
Among other subjects, she tackles tuition breaks as well as Arizona’s right to make its own immigration policies (Perry came out against the controversial Arizona immigration law last year).

Posted on October 1, 2011 at 3:11amMichelle Bachmann’s remarks clearly prove she is not a conservative. Conservatives understand states rights and when an issue is a state issue and not a federal issue. In this case Ms. Bachmann is acting like the big government liberal that she says she despises with her inability to tell the difference when a problem requires state solutions and when they require federal solutions. In this case, the Texas legislature which is overwhelmingly conservative was faced with how to control the cost of illegal alien children given that the federal government was not going to control our borders. The Stae legislature supported by the vast majority of texans, faced with how to control the costs that resulted from the federal government not doing it s job chose to reduce the cost of college to these children to turn them into people with better paying jobs who would pay taxes rather than being a drain on the social systems. remember, Texas cannot deport illegal aliens only the federal government. So governor Perry signed the bill to create cost effective approach to the problem created by the federal government not doing its job. It was a state solution to a state problem with no federal implications or implications to any state outside of Texas who supported the law. So either Ms. Bachmann truly does not understand states rights or is a hypocrite who will do anything to win. IMHO it is the latter.

You don’t live in a state bordering Mexico, and Minnesota doesn’t have to deal with illegal
immigration the way Perry does. FEDERAL LAW mandates what Perry can do.
You lost my vote, and your body language coach should be fired.

Posted on October 1, 2011 at 3:10amOh, it’s even better than that. She voted for a similar bill:
“It turns out that Bachmann voted for a similar measure in 2005 while serving in the Minnesota Senate. The language, which was included in a larger higher education funding bill, would have allowed students who had attended a Minnesota high school for three years or more, had graduated and had enrolled in public Minnesota college to pay in-state tuition.”

I don’t know anyone in the TEA PARTY who wanted HER to take it inside CONGRESS…but she tried to commandeer this huge group of Patriots…only she didn’t have the goods and now, aside from looking like a deer in the headlights, she has proven her ineptness. Michelle, dear: you’ve been in Congress for 3 terms now…you raised $ last time thanks to SARAH PALIN’S urging that people support you, which I did, but then your campaign manager (Ed Rollins…my gosh what a terrible choice…you have no ability to choose) knocked PALIN… and you lost a lot of steam, then in IOWA, you hid in your trailer instead of greeting the hundreds of people who were there to meet you, whereas Sarah and others spent time talking with and appreciating their constituents. THEN you made the horrible reference to “FOSTER” Children (only to find out that some of them were not with you longer than 3 days) and anyone who would say FOSTER instead of My Kids…is nosohot in my book anyway… then your HUSBAND slugged someone …where as TODD Palin is a MAN’S man and he and Sarah are a class act. YOU GOT NOTHING. GO away. YOU’VE accomplished nothing in Congress…you act like you think it’s a game..Wipe that s-eating grin off your face…quit taking $ from real candidates and drop out. To many people have taken the system for granted and as the government grows will only swing farther to the left as it can! We all know the truth! People should start paying their fair share in society and just be glad that you don’t live in a country where there is no choice with government! In some countries like “China” the people may have a glimpse of freedom, but when it really comes down to it, the government calls all the shots, not the people! Is this what we want here??? Most of our candidates are really nothing but hot air and would side with their political action committees in a heart beat! Let’s get real America! If you want anyone who will do for their country, You will have to speak your mind and pray with all your heart that the people of America do not fail you once again! What I mean is, they voted for Obama because of change, but did they have any idea what this would turn out to be like??? We need to influence everyone what we truly are looking for in a president! I’m not for AL Gores Chairman (Rick Perry) who wants to open our flood gates to immigration!

Vicente Fox, the President of Mexico: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/sep/romney_ad_perry.html.
Vicente Fox actually praised Perry’s bill, the TX Dream Act. Then as Santorum spoke of in the last debate, Fox and Perry worked together to try to set up a Bi-National Health Care system. Luckily the bill and research was shut down by others in TX.

Posted on October 1, 2011 at 1:56amAgreed. There’s that crony capitalism stuff that really true. And the HPV government stuff. So he’s out. I think Bachmann is the most religious because she sure talks about it a lot and besides she was called by God to run she says. Of course some of those other people might also have been called by God to run. Maybe God wants to see which candidate will support the most things/stuff that God himself wants.
Now, I’m not sure what stuff/things God wants myself, because I’m kind of a live and let live person, but all the Republicans are running because, they say, they know what God wants for you and me. I haven‘t heard much about what they’d actually try to do Godwise, because they don’t talk a lot about helping the poor, being humble, giving away earthly treasures and all of that stuff Jesus talks about. I just hear them talkin’ about how the rich, if they get richer they’s going to give some of that money to the rest of us. But Reagan did that and I didn’t see any money, and Bush did that and I didn’t see any money. So now the Republicans are saying if we give more money to the rich, we’ll see more money. But now, I’m thinking to myself, I’m not sure I believe that. Because that’s what they always say, and I ain’t seen it yet.

Every candidate has some faults and of course unless another one points them out you will never know bc they aren’t going to tell on themselves. Bachman I have no problem with, but sometimes she doesn’t do her homework and is too quick to speak which may hurt her as a president. Cain not knowing anything about foreign policy is a big negative bc with the threat of terror we are constantly under, and the wars we have going on we don’t need someone that needs to learn whats going on. Most governors after serving a term have gotten some firsthand knowledge of some foreign policy and those that have been in Washington. Romney probably has educated himself bc he has been around long enough in political battles, but to me Cain seems to be more talk than action. I think he gets way ahead of himself bc he can talk his way into your hearts and minds. Makes me not trust him and have heard many others say the same. Gingrich is by far the smartest and strongest leader but I feel someone will overstep him bc of personal problems…sadly. Ron Paul taking sides with the ACLU on terrorists rights finished off any trust I had in him which wasn’t much bc of what he said about Iran.

Secularism has destroyed every civilization. America is on the brink. And worst of all, the radical muslim folks are taking advantage of it. Yeah, he’s a handsome guy with “presence” and confidence. Great guy for a statue, not so much someone to govern, even a state (don’t make me talk about education and poverty in Texas).
But as far as building “a wall” between Texas and Mexico, he’s right. That’s a fantasy, and wouldn’t work besides. The only way to prevent Mexicans from crossing the border is to stop hiring illegal entrants, and that’s never going to happen, because that would cut into the profits of businesses who can pay below minimum wage, offer no insurance, and ignore worker safety. Nobody is ever going to go after the businesses who profit from Mexicans. Mexicans cross the border for jobs, not because they like the Texas climate better.
