Bachmann on ‘12 Run: ‘I’m Committed to Doing Whatever I Can’ to Oust Obama

Appearing on Fox News with Greta Van Susteren on Wednesday night, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) didn’t do much to dispel rumors that she might run for president in 2012. While she didn’t flat out announce a run, she didn’t flat out deny one. Sure, she said she’s “not focused on my own personal ambitions,” but she also said:
I’m very committed to doing whatever I can to make sure that we don’t have a second term for President Obama. So I’m going to add my voice to that conversation in the next two years. . . . [I]t’s not about my personal ambition. But it is about making sure that people know what the issues are, what the principles are, because I think a year from now – I mean, can you imagine two years of speculating about who the nominee will be? . . . It is boring.
Sounds like she’s training.

Posted on January 6, 2011 at 12:01pmCrazy Shelley Bachmann is overcome with delusions of grandeur (when she barely qualifies to be overcome with delusions of adequacy). This dim-wit is only interested in one thing — shameless self-promotion. She has seven people on her staff who do nothing but publicity, press releases and PR.
Report Post »She has done little to nothing as a congresswoman but she manages to get frequent bookings on FoxSnooze, right-wing rant-radio and even some legitimate news outlets.
That being said, I do hope she’s serious about her presidential aspirations. She is a constant source of amusement and as unelectable as a certain dim-witted half-term governor of Alaska. I say “bring it on, Shelley!”

Posted on January 6, 2011 at 11:18amFunny, middle class prophet, the Obama administration never would tell us what it actually cost. Her ridiculous claim was debunked? Really? Because Robert Gibbs said so? If it was “debunked”, we would know what it cost, but we still don‘t know the actual cost because the open and transparent White House won’t tell us.
I’m from Minnesota, and the embarrassment here is that we elected Norm Coleman to be our Senator and Mark Ritchie, our Secretary of State, former ACORN community agitator, and member of George Soros’ SoS project was the guy counting the votes. Ballots were being “found” in trunks of cars, for gosh sakes…convicted felons were voting! We have terrible voting laws here where just about anyone can vote and they don’t have to show photo ID. That is the real embarrassment about Minnesota, not the patriot Michele Bachmann, who will have my vote if she ever gets in the race.

Every single one of them comes down “personal resposibility”….the Holy Water to the vampiric Progressive. Human life begins at conception….every aspect of the child’s DNA and chromosomal make-up are present at conception. Why do Progressives hate life so much?? Or is it that they don’t want to face the consequences of life? Pregnant?? You can just chemically smother, burn, dismember limb-by-limb, or jam a steel rod into the base of the babie’s skull in order to suction his/her little brains out!! All while you wait!! In the convenience of the mother’s own womb! Problem solved!!!! This is what Progressives consider to be the sanctity of life?? This is human dignity?? Which young mother was cruelly booted off of the food-stamp program…..to be left to starve in the cold, unforgiving streets?? I have never heard of anyone losing food stamps unless they were convicted of a felony. The health insurance issue seems to be just another Progressive talking point. Your hero Nancy Pelosi said that even if everyone loved their insurance and that everyone had access to it, the Progressive/Democrats would still take it over…..doesn’t matter if the cancer patient had trouble with his insurance company or not. Single-payer is on the way!! Bachmann opposes these things…..as do I and the majority of Americans. This was demonstrated by the mid-term elections. Hold tight to your talking points over the next couple of years….you’re going to need them.

The answer to this is quite simple. It is not the job of the federal government to take care of its citizens from cradle to grave. When people need help they should be able to tun to charitable and philanthropic organizations, but the Fed has put so many restraints on these organizations that the find difficult, if not impossible to do the works they are set up for.
As with most problems in this country today it’s the Fed who has made a mess of thing. Until the States take back their power (if they can) this will continue and worsen.

“Should Michelle and her family keep getting their farm subsidies under her era of fiscal responsibility?”
No, nobody should get a farm subsidy.
Your argument, again as always, is a form of tu quoque. Please, try to learn a new technique, I implore you.
Report Post »kryptonite
Posted on January 6, 2011 at 4:06pmGhost,
You are driving me crazy with your application of tu quoque to any comment that decries hypocrisy or demands accountability. According to your interpretation of that fallacy, nobody could ever be accused of hypocrisy, without committing tu quoque. That is a wrong understanding of the “appeal to hypocrisy,” vs. hypocrisy, per se.
To commit tu quoque, a person has to claim that AN ACCUSATION IS UNJUSTIFIED, because the accuser himself is guilty as charged. Dave said this to a Bachmann supporter:
“Should Michelle and her family keep getting their farm subsidies under her era of fiscal responsibility?” TO WIT, “Isn’t it hypocritical for Michele to call for fiscal responsibility, when she and her family get farm subsidies?”
Dave is not denying that the Obama administration has been fiscally irresponsible or that Obama should not be held accountable. I’d wager he strongly agrees both are true. Thus, Dave is not dismissing her viewpoint. To commit tu quoque, he would have had to defy Bachmann‘s accusation regarding Obama’s lack of fiscal responsibility: Ex.:
“Bachmann does not have a right to accuse the Obama administration of lack of fiscal responsibility, since she and her family get farm subsidies.”
You need to distinguish between a false statement and moral indignation/outrage. There is nothing wrong with moral indignation. A blog, of all places, should allow people to discuss motives, character and credibility, and to express their outrage or frustration when they believe a politician is being inconsistent or hypocritical. Dave was dismissing Bachman’s suitability for office, based on character, i.e., she talks the talk, but doesn’t walk the walk. Anyone who does not agree with him (you did, on that issue at least), is free to challenge him.
Please don’t take this as a personal attack. I do find most of your contributions to this blog valuable, and there is nothing wrong with pointing out invalid arguments, but you are getting carried away on the side of curtailing free thought. Whatever happened to the strict libertarian in you? :)

The only person that will have trouble defending himself is our current president and the amazing bail outs he’s pushed forth and the strong arm tactics used to force banks to accept money. Case and point Wells Fargo’s refusal and the feds threats. We’ve destroyed the private lending business for mortgages and college loans. We purchase auto manufacturers along with GE bailouts all the trillions blown in the last two years is and remains uncalled for. So I’m not so worried about Ms Bachmann as you should be by the hacks currently in office. All tax dodging mental midgets currently running our government agencies.

Posted on January 6, 2011 at 4:22pmSo the donations from the finance industry to Bachmann are a matter of public record and available on Open Secrets among other websites. As for proof of Bachmann’s stance on Wall Street, you need only see her actions and quotes:
http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/Michele-Bachmann-Frank-Dodd/2011/01/06/id/382092
Bachmann is not criticizing the bill for coming down too hard on the banks, but for creating too many regulations on the industry that will kill jobs. This is the very same sentiment reflected in the ABA spokesman’s comments later in the same article. The lobbyists, as has been widely reported, have pushed for repeal of the reforms so Wall Street can go back to doing what it did before with insufficient regulations to stop them. But since conservatives do not understand the causes ofthe crisis, they fail to see that Bachmann is making it easy to repeat itself.
Finally, all smart conservatives and Republicans favored bailing out the banks when the world’s financial system was about to implode, but now they pretend like they didn’t think it was necessary. This is hypocrisy. But that is better than Bachmann. She reflects total stupidity. Without that bailout–a saving of the banks–there would be no recovery occuring now. Charlie Munger is a billionaire and has made all of his money on his own in the financial markets by being right more often than not. He is also a conservative Republican. But even he has admitted that Obama was right to follow through on the bank bailouts. Those that argue otherwise are prima facia irresponsible or perhaps just negligently ignorant.

You are a fool, parroting commie talking points, but unable to read for yourself; just like Obama, your “savior”. Bachmann didn’t drop anything. What part of “introduces repeal of Dodd-Frank” is too literary for you to understand? You trolls are so pathetic.

So much spin! Man,oh man: How can anyone debate you when you take facts and simply deny that they are true? And this one is the most egregious: 3.5M created jobs.” No, no no!! “2.5- 3.6M SAVED or created jobs (the range was later dropped). Did you learn in class how “saved or created jobs” are calculated statistically? If you did, go ahead and trash your diploma, because it is impossible to do. BTW, the “if… then” conjectures Obama is so fond of using in his economic estimates are also statistical crocks. The only FACT we have is that the Obama report clearly stated that with the injection of the stimulus monies into the economy, the unemployment rate would not surpass 8%. However it rose to over 9%. So the stimulus FAILED by their own stats to keep the country from “going over the cliff,“ and experiencing an ”economic meltdown akin to the Great Depression.” So much for Obama’s RED alert rhetoric (pun intended). Hahaha.
Now the national car (a green one) is hanging for dear life at one to two decimal points below 10%. Obama will continue to massage the numbers using novel statistical tools, such as JOBS SAVED (take money, you’re saved), combining temporary and permanent jobs in the calculation process, using a fake multiplier to project economic growth, and so on, and we will continue to skid at an unemployment rate below the 10% margin deemed necessary to keep him re-electable. You think that Marxist liar can hide the fact that BUSINESSES AREN’T HIRING, and that only his BUREAUCRACY and his fat-cat unions are doing well in this cesspool economy? Give me a break!

Posted on January 6, 2011 at 10:39amSo refreshing to see and hear someone who actually has an understanding of the problems we face and also to be willing to “try” and do something about them.
Ms. Bachmann will have to face a fire storm to say the least but I think she will be able to manage the storm well and come out by 2011 as someone we will all want to support. I know Palin also “wants” to make a run at least I think she does, as much as she (Palin) is likable Bachmann is just more “PRESIDENTUAL” in my humble opinion. With Paul/Palin maybe being in the VP slot and West up for Sectary of State we can’t go wrong………………VICTORY OR DEATH

“Michele Bachmann – for those who think that Sarah Palin is just ‘just too brainy’.”
Ah, nothing like the smell of overt sexism in the afternoon, mate.
I suspect that you‘ve not actually heard much of what she’s said or read, and rely instead on bites carefully selected and fed to you by HuffPo. An easy trick to do of course, which can make any person look like a flaming idiot. Familiarize yourself with actual propaganda techniques and break out of your self imposed exile from reality. Bachmann is quite bright and far more often than not is very eloquent and intellectually impressive. I know this since I‘ve heard her speak and have read a lot of what she’s said from apolitical sources.
It’s frustrating to me to consider how anti-woman the Left really is. I had hoped that we as a society had grown beyond that kind of thing.
